摘要：PURPOSE:To obtain an escalator saving energy with no necessity for energy from the other by composing it of an energy supply part providing piezoelectric elements in a staircase part and of the escalator driven by electric energy from the energy supply part. CONSTITUTION:Piezoelectric elements 3, serving as an energy supply part, are spread all over a portion of a staircase 2 adjacent to an escalator 1, connected in parallel and to an electric motor 4. Accordingly, this electric motor 4 drives the escalator 1 by supplying electric energy from an energy supply part consisting of the piezoelectric element 3. In the energy converting escalator 1 thus obtained, because the piezoelectric element 3 is spread over the part of the staircase 2, by persons stepping this piezoelectric element 3 generating electric power, the escalator 1 can be actuated with no supply of energy from the other.
