Legend of Chang E
the story of Chang E is a famous legend about the moon in China, however, It is interesting that different people may tell you different editions, and now I’d love to introduce them to you .
First, the most popular story goes like this: Chang E is the wife of Hou Yi, a hero who shoots the nine unnecessary suns and saves the earth from intolerably hot. One day, after Hou Yi leaving home, a bad man Mongolia intimidates Chang E to hand over elixir, Chang E knows oneself is not Mongolia's match, critical time she swallows down the medicine, the body flutters immediately to the ground, runs out the window, flies to the moon. Chang E here is beautiful and brave, that is why most Chinese prefer this edition, I think.
Another similar edition is less romantic anyway, because Hou Yi falls in love with Mi Fei. On the 15th of the eighth month,Feng Meng lied and told Chang E that Hou Yi had gone to see Mi Fei. Chang E believed him and became
furious at her unfaithful husband, so she swallows the elixir for herself.
And even luXun has written a edition that Hou Yi loses his glory after shooting the suns since he is of no value, which reflects The cruel reality.
So which one is the story you have heard before? As far as I’m concerned, legends are always affected by the reality though they seem perfect and dreamy both in east and west, but that may just be the beauty of them, isn’t it?。
