Despite the challenges posed by these turbulent times, her thirst for knowledge and scientific exploration remained unquenched. It was this inquisitive nature that ultimately propelled her toward a career in pharmaceutical research, a field that would forever change the course of modern medicine. One of the most striking aspects of Tu Youyou's story is her unwavering perseverance in the face of daunting obstacles. When tasked with finding an effective treatment for malaria, adisease that had plagued humanity for centuries, she embarked on a journey that would span years of painstaking research and countless setbacks. Undeterred by the numerous failed experiments and the skepticism of her peers, Tu Youyou remained resolute, driven by an unshakable belief in the potential of traditional Chinese medicine. Her perseverance paid off when, in the 1970s, she and her team unraveled the secrets of the ancient Chinese herb Qinghao (Artemisia annua), isolating the active compound artemisinin. This groundbreaking discovery ushered in a new era in the fight against malaria, saving countless lives and earning Tu Youyou the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2015 – the first Chinese national to receive this prestigious honor solely. As a student aspiring to contribute to the scientific community, Tu Youyou's perseverance resonates deeply with me. Her story serves as a poignant reminder that success in scientific endeavors often requires an unwavering commitment to one's goals, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. It reminds me that breakthroughs and groundbreaking discoveries are rarely achieved overnight; instead, they are the culmination of years of dedicated effort, resilience, and an unshakable belief in one's work.Furthermore, Tu Youyou's reliance on traditional Chinese medicine highlights the importance of intellectual curiosity and an open-minded approach to scientific inquiry. In an era where Western medicine dominated the field, her willingness to explore alternative sources of knowledge and embrace unconventional methods set her apart. This open-mindedness allowed her to uncover the therapeutic potential of a plant that had been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries, ultimately leading to a revolutionary treatment for malaria. As a student, this aspect of Tu Youyou's story resonates profoundly with me. It reminds me to approach scientific problems with an open mind, to question established norms, and to consider alternative perspectives. It encourages me to remain intellectually curious, to seek knowledge from diverse sources, and to embrace interdisciplinary approaches in my pursuit of scientific understanding.Perhaps one of the most admirable qualities exhibited by Tu Youyou is her humility. Despite her groundbreaking achievements and the global recognition she received, she remained grounded, attributing her success to the collective efforts of her team and the wisdom of traditional Chinesemedicine. This humility is a stark contrast to the often ego-driven narratives that sometimes pervade the scientific community.Tu Youyou's humility reminds me that true scientific progress is rarely the result of individual genius alone; rather, it is a collaborative effort that builds upon the knowledge and contributions of countless individuals throughout history. It reminds me to remain humble in my own pursuits, to acknowledge the contributions of those who came before me, and to recognize the invaluable contributions of my peers and colleagues. Moreover, her humility serves as a reminder to approach scientific inquiry with a sense of reverence and respect for the natural world and the wisdom of traditional knowledge systems. It encourages me to embrace a holistic and inclusive approach to scientific exploration, recognizing that valuable insights can be gleaned from diverse cultural perspectives and time-honored practices. As I reflect on Tu Youyou's remarkable journey, I am struck by the profound impact her story has had on my understanding of what it means to be a scientist. Her perseverance, intellectual curiosity, and humility have become guiding principles that will shape my own academic and professional pursuits.Through her example, I have learned that true scientific progress requires an unwavering commitment to one's goals, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. It demands an open mind, a willingness to explore unconventional paths, and a respect for diverse sources of knowledge.Furthermore, Tu Youyou's story has reinforced the importance of humility in scientific endeavors, reminding me that true progress is a collaborative effort that builds upon the contributions of countless individuals and draws from the wisdom of diverse cultural perspectives. As I embark on my own scientific journey, I carry with me the lessons learned from Tu Youyou's remarkable life. Her spirit of perseverance, intellectual curiosity, and humility will serve as a beacon, guiding me through the inevitable challenges and triumphs that lie ahead. And like her, I aspire to make a lasting contribution to the scientific community, one that transcends borders and touches the lives of countless individuals around the world.。

七年级绿野仙踪读后感英语黑布林版全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1Title: My Thoughts on "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" Blackcurrant EditionHi everyone! Today I want to share with you my thoughts on the book "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum, but in a fun and easy way! Let's get started!First of all, let me tell you about the characters in the story. There's Dorothy, the main character who gets swept away to the magical land of Oz. She's so brave and kind, just like a superhero! Then there's the Scarecrow, who wants a brain, the Tin Woodman, who wants a heart, and the Cowardly Lion, who wants courage. They're all different, but they make such a great team!I loved reading about their adventures as they journeyed along the Yellow Brick Road to meet the Wizard of Oz. They met all sorts of interesting characters, like the Munchkins, the Wicked Witch of the West, and even the Wizard himself! Each part of the story was so exciting and made me want to read more and more. One thing I learned from this book is that you don't have to be perfect to be special. Even though the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and Cowardly Lion thought they were missing something, they were already amazing just the way they were. It's important to believe in yourself and your friends, just like they did.Another important lesson from the book is the power of friendship. Dorothy and her friends supported each other through thick and thin, always sticking together no matter what. They showed me that true friendship can help you overcome any obstacle, just like they did in the story.Overall, I really enjoyed reading "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" in the Blackcurrant Edition. The story was full of magic, friendship, and courage, and it made me feel like I was right there with Dorothy and her friends on their incredible journey. I can't wait to read more books in the series and go on more adventures with them! That's all for now, everyone! Thanks for listening to my thoughts on this awesome book. See you next time! Bye!篇2Title: My Thoughts on "The Wizard of Oz" in 7th GradeHi everyone! Today I want to talk about the book "The Wizard of Oz" that I read in 7th grade. Today I want to share my thoughts on the book "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" that I read in 7th grade. It was such a cool book!First of all, let me tell you about the characters. There's Dorothy, who is super brave and kind. She's just a regular girl from Kansas, but she ends up on this crazy adventure in the Land of Oz. Then there's the Scarecrow, who wants a brain, the Tin Woodman, who wants a heart, and the Cowardly Lion, who wants courage. They all join Dorothy on her journey to see the Wizard so they can get what they want.I loved all the different lands they traveled through - the Munchkin Country, the Winkie Country, the Quadling Country, and the Gillikin Country. Each one was so unique and magical. My favorite part was when they visited the Emerald City and everything was green! But the best part of the book was the message it taught me. Even though the characters had their flaws and weaknesses, they were able to overcome them by working together and believingin themselves. It made me realize that no matter how small or insignificant I may feel sometimes, I have the power to be brave, kind, and compassionate just like Dorothy and her friends.Overall, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" is a timeless classic that has taught me so much about friendship, courage, and the power of believing in yourself. It's a book that I will always remember and cherish. I can't wait to read more books like this in the future! That's all for now. Thanks for listening to my thoughts on this amazing book! Bye for now!篇5After reading "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" in seventh grade, I felt really excited and amazed. It's such a cool book with lots of adventures and interesting characters.I really liked the main character, Dorothy. She was so brave and kind, and she never gave up on her journey to find a way back home. I also liked her friends, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion. They were all so different, but they worked together to help each other and reach their goals. The Land of Oz was described so vividly in the book. I could imagine myself walking down the Yellow Brick Road, meeting the Munchkins, and facing the Wicked Witch of the West. The story kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering what would happen next. One of the things I learned from this book is the importance of friendship and believing in yourself. Dorothy and her friends faced many challenges, but they never gave up because they had each other. They showed me that with determination and courage, we can overcome any obstacle.Overall, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" is a fantastic book that I will never forget. It taught me valuable lessons and took me on an unforgettable journey. I can't wait to read more books by L. Frank Baum and explore new worlds filled with magic and wonder.篇6Once upon a time, I read a book called "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" in class. It was so amazing and magical! The story is about this girl named Dorothy who gets whisked away to a magical land called Oz by a tornado. Along the way, she meets a scarecrow, a tin woodman, and a lion, and they all go on anadventure to find the Wizard who can help them get what they want.I really liked how brave and determined Dorothy was. Even though she was scared and far from home, she never gave up on her journey. She was always looking out for her friends and trying to help them. The scarecrow was really funny and always coming up with clever ideas. The tin woodman was so sweet and caring, even though he didn't have a heart. And the lion, well, he might have been scared at first, but he turned out to be the bravest of them all.The Wizard of Oz was a bit shady, though. He made them go on this crazy quest to get the Wicked Witch's broomstick before he would help them. But in the end, they all learned important lessons about themselves and what they truly wanted. Dorothy just wanted to go home to Kansas, the scarecrow wanted a brain, the tin woodman wanted a heart, and the lion wanted courage.Reading this book made me think about what I want in life. Do I want to be smarter, kinder, braver? Maybe I just want to go on my own adventure and see what's out there in the world. Either way, "The Wizard of Oz" is a classic story that I will never forget. It taught me that home is where the heart is and that true friends will always be by your side.。

从张桂梅身上学到了什么英语作文

从张桂梅身上学到了什么英语作文

从张桂梅身上学到了什么英语作文Here's an essay of around 2000 words, written from the perspective of an elementary school student, titled "What I Learned from Zhang Guimei":What I Learned from Zhang GuimeiHi there! My name is Lily, and I'm a 5th grader at Sunshine Elementary School. Today, I want to share with you the inspiring story of Zhang Guimei and what I've learned from her remarkable life.Who is Zhang Guimei, you might ask? Well, she's a woman from a small village in China who taught herself English by watching English-language movies and listening to recordings. Even though she never had the chance to go to school or learn from teachers, she became fluent in English through sheer determination and hard work!I first heard about Zhang Guimei a few months ago when my teacher, Mrs. Parker, showed us a video about her. I was amazed to see this humble, kind-looking woman speaking English so beautifully. She didn't just know a few words or phrases; she could carry on entire conversations with perfect pronunciation and grammar! As we watched the video, Mrs. Parker told us that Zhang Guimei grew up in a poor farming family and had to start working in the fields as a child. She never got to attend school because her family couldn't afford it. But when she was a teenager, she became fascinated with the English language and decided to teach herself. At first, it was really hard for her. She had no textbooks, no dictionaries, and no one to guide her. All she had was an old English-Chinese dictionary that she had found. But she didn't let that stop her. She started watching English movies and TV shows, listening carefully to the way the actors spoke. Whenever she heard a word or phrase she didn't understand, she would look it up in her dictionary and write it down. For years, Zhang Guimei spent every spare moment she had studying English. She would listen to English tapes and radio broadcasts, repeating the words over and over until she got the pronunciation right. She even started talking to herself in English, practicing conversations and imagining different scenarios.Mrs. Parker told us that Zhang Guimei's hard work and dedication paid off. After many years of self-study, she became so fluent in English that she could understand and speak it just like a native speaker! People from all over the world startedcoming to her village to learn English from her, and she even appeared on TV shows and gave interviews in English.I was so inspired by Zhang Guimei's story. Here was a woman who had faced so many challenges and obstacles, but she never gave up on her dream of learning English. She showed us that with enough determination and hard work, anything is possible. After watching the video, I felt motivated to work harder on my own English studies. If Zhang Guimei could teach herself English without any formal education or resources, then surely I could do better in my English classes at school. I started paying more attention in class, taking better notes, and doing all my homework assignments diligently. But Zhang Guimei's story taught me more than just the importance of hard work and perseverance. It also showed me the value of curiosity and a love for learning. Even though she didn't have access to formal education, Zhang Guimei had a thirst for knowledge that drove her to learn English on her own. She was curious about the world beyond her village and wanted to understand the language and cultures of other people.I realized that I should approach my studies with the same curiosity and enthusiasm that Zhang Guimei had. Instead of justmemorizing facts and rules, I started trying to understand the deeper meanings and connections behind what I was learning. I asked more questions in class and did extra research on topics that interested me.Another valuable lesson I learned from Zhang Guimei's story is the importance of resilience and never giving up. Learning a new language is hard, and there were probably many times when Zhang Guimei felt frustrated or discouraged. But she never let those setbacks stop her. She kept pushing forward, trying new strategies and finding ways to improve her English skills.Whenever I feel like giving up on a difficult homework assignment or a challenging subject, I think about Zhang Guimei's perseverance and it motivates me to keep trying. I remind myself that if she could teach herself an entire language without any help, then I can surely overcome my own obstacles with patience and hard work.Zhang Guimei's story has also taught me the value of humility and staying true to your roots. Even after becoming famous for her English skills, she remained humble and never forgot where she came from. She continued to live a simple life in her village, working in the fields and helping her neighbors.I admire how Zhang Guimei never let her success go to her head. She remained grounded and grateful for the opportunities she had, even though she had achieved something remarkable through her own efforts. Her humility reminds me to stay humble and appreciative of the privileges I have, like being able to attend a good school and have access to educational resources. In conclusion, Zhang Guimei's incredible story has taught me so many valuable lessons that go beyond just learning English. Her determination, perseverance, curiosity, resilience, and humility are qualities that I strive to cultivate in my own life. Whenever I feel discouraged or unmotivated, I think about her journey and it inspires me to keep pushing forward, even when faced with challenges.Thank you, Zhang Guimei, for being such an inspiring example of what can be achieved through hard work, dedication, and a love for learning. Your story has truly made a lasting impact on me, and I hope that others will also be inspired by your remarkable life.。

英文《奶牛会打字》读后感想或启示

英文《奶牛会打字》读后感想或启示全文共10篇示例,供读者参考篇1The story "The Cow Can Moo" is so funny! I really enjoyed reading it because it is full of humor and surprises. The cow in the story is not like any other cow I have ever heard of. It can do all sorts of things like singing, dancing, and even playing music! It made me laugh to imagine a cow doing all those things. But the most important lesson I learned from this story is that we should never judge a book by its cover. Just like how the other animals in the story underestimated the cow because it was different from them. In the end, the cow proved them wrong by showing its special talents. This made me realize that everyone is unique in their own way and we should always respect and appreciate each other's differences. The story also taught me that it is okay to be different and to embrace our special talents. We should not be afraid to show the world who we really are and what we are capable of. Just like how the cow in the story was not afraid to be itself and shine in its own unique way.Overall, "The Cow Can Moo" is a fun and heartwarming story that reminds us to always be true to ourselves and never be afraid to stand out from the crowd. I will definitely remember this lesson and try to be as confident and proud of myself as the cow in the story was.篇2Hey guys, I just finished reading the book "The Cow Who Can Tap Dance" and it was so much fun! Daisy worked really hard to learn how to tap dance, even when everyone told her she couldn't do it. But she kept practicing and believing in herself, and in the end, she proved everyone wrong.Another thing I liked about the book is that it teaches us to be open-minded and accepting of others. In the story, the other animals at the farm were skeptical of Daisy's dancing at first, but they eventually came around and supported her. It's importantto be supportive of your friends and their interests, even ifthey're different from your own.Overall, "The Cow Who Can Tap Dance" is a really fun and inspiring book. The cow's name is Dave, and he goes on a big adventure to show everyone that just because he's different, doesn't mean he's not awesome.I really liked how Dave didn't give up even when the other cows made fun of him. He just kept practicing and trying his best to show them all what he could do. That's a really important lesson to learn - to never let others bring you down just because you're different.Another thing I loved about this book was all the funny jokes and silly situations that Dave gets into. From playing in a rock band to saving the farm from a big storm, Dave is always up tosomething fun and exciting. It's a great reminder to not take life too seriously and to always find the joy in every situation.Overall, The Cow Who Can't Moo is a really awesome book that teaches us to embrace our differences and to never give up on our dreams. And look where that got her - she ended up playing in front of a huge crowd and everyone loved her music!Another thing I learned from the book is that it's okay to be different. When her friends were in trouble, she used her drumming skills to save the day. It's important to help each other out and work together as a team.I also love how the book is so funny and silly. Rosie's adventures always make me laugh, especially when she starts mooing instead of drumming. It's important to have fun and enjoy life, just like Rosie does.Overall, "The Cow Who Could Moo" is a great book with lots of lessons to learn. It's a reminder to never stop believing in ourselves, to help others, and to always have fun. So let's all be like Rosie and moo our way to success!篇7After reading the story "The Cow Can Moo! Can You?" by Dr. Seuss, I feel so happy and excited! It is such a funny and interesting book about all the different sounds animals can make.I learned that cows can make a "moo" sound, dogs can makea "woof" sound, and cats can make a "meow" sound. There are so many animals in the world and they all make different sounds. It's so cool!I also learned that even though we may not be able to make the same sounds as animals, we can still have fun trying. We can use our imagination and creativity to make silly sounds and have a good time. This story taught me that it's important to be playful and use our imagination. We should not be afraid to be silly and have fun. Life is too short to be serious all the time.So next time I see a cow, I will remember that it can moo and maybe I will try to moo too. And who knows, maybe the cow will moo back at me!I love this story and I will definitely read it again. It made me laugh and smile, and that's the best feeling in the world. Thank you, Dr. Seuss, for writing such a wonderful book!篇8Cow can fight, it's so cool! I read this book called "The Cow Who Can Fight" and it was super awesome. The cow in the book was so brave and strong, even though everyone thought cows were just for milking and chewing grass. But this cow, she showed everyone that she could do more than that. She trained hard every day and learned how to fight. And when a big bad wolf came to her farm, she didn't run away like everyone else. She stood her ground and fought back!I learned that just because something is small or looks weak doesn't mean it can't be powerful. The cow in the book was small but mighty, just like me! I can do anything I set my mind to, just like the cow.I also learned that it's important to be brave and stand up for yourself. Even if everyone else doubts you, you have to believe in yourself and show them what you're capable of. The cow didn't listen to the other animals on the farm, and she saved them all in the end.So, I want to be like the cow in the book – brave, strong, and never giving up. I want to show the world what I can do and make a difference, just like she did."Cow can fight" is my new motto, and I'm ready to take on any challenge that comes my way!篇9Title: The Cow Can Fight - My ThoughtsI just finished reading the book "The Cow Can Fight", and I have so many thoughts swirling around in my head right now. Itwas such an exciting and funny story! I want to share my thoughts with you guys. The story is all about a cow named Betsy who learns kung fu from a wise old cat. At first, I thought it was silly that a cow could learn kung fu, but as I kept reading, I realized that anything is possible if you believe in yourself. Betsy trained hard every day and never gave up, even when things got tough. This taught me the importance of perseverance and determination. No matter what challenges come my way, I will remember Betsy and keep going.Another thing I loved about the book was how Betsy used her kung fu skills to protect her friends from the mean old farmer. She stood up to him and showed him that cows are not weak and defenseless. It made me realize that we should always stand up for what is right, even if it seems hard or scary. I want to be brave like Betsy and help others when they need it.The story also taught me the value of friendship. Betsy's friends were always there for her, cheering her on and supporting her. They believed in her even when she didn't believe in herself. It showed me that true friends will always have your back, no matter what. I want to be a good friend like Betsy's friends and always be there for the people I care about. In conclusion, "The Cow Can Fight" is a fantastic book that taught me so many important lessons. I will always remember Betsy and her kung fu skills, and I will try to be as brave, determined, and loyal as she is. Thank you, Betsy, for inspiring me to be the best cow – I mean, person – I can be!篇10I really liked the book "The Cow Who Can't Moo" because it taught me an important lesson about not judging others based on their appearance or abilities. In the book, all the other animals make fun of the cow because she can't moo like the other cows. But in the end, the cow saves the day by scaring away a thief with her loud "moo"!This book made me realize that everyone has their own unique talents and abilities, and it's not right to make fun of someone just because they're different. We should all be kind and accepting of others, even if they don't fit in with what we think is "normal".I also learned that it's important to be brave and stand up for what's right, just like the cow did when she scared off the thief. It's not easy to be brave, but sometimes we have to do things that scare us in order to protect ourselves or others.Overall, "The Cow Who Can't Moo" was a really fun and inspiring book to read. It taught me a lot about kindness, acceptance, and bravery. I would recommend this book to all my friends because I think everyone can learn something from it.。

Wherever we go, we can see that papers bottles and cans are throw away; food is wasted just because of poor taste; clothes are discarded(丢弃) simply due to their old fashion. Not only things and money are wasted, but natural resources are abused as well. Trees are cut down merely for fuel; wild animals are killed simply for meat and fur; oil and coal are exploited(开发) in a bad way .The worse example of man’s waste is the waste of time. Many people trend to spend their time on worthless things, such as wondering about in the street, gossiping(说闲话) in the office, sleeping too much during the day. As we know, time is very precious to us since it passes by and never returns. The waste of time amounts to the waste of life .It is time to call for an end to the waste. On one hand, we must save natural resources and make full use of them; otherwise human beings will be faced with the shortage of natural resources and suffer from the pollution caused by waste. On the other hand, we must treasure our time. Only with our time devoted to the study and the work for the people will we never regret the life we have had.(二)A beautiful and very successful actress (女演员) was the star for a new musical show. Especially they can be of great value to people who work with their brains most of the day, for sports and games give people valuable practice in exercising the body. What’s more, they make our life richer and more colourful. If we do not have a strong body, we will find it hard to do whatever we want. So persons of all ages enjoy watching and taking part in various kinds of sports-track and fields, swimming, skating, football, volleyball and basketball, etc.Sports and games are also very useful in character training. They demand not only physical skills and strength but also courage, endurance, discipline and usually teamwork. For boys and girls, what is learned in the playground often has a deep effect on their character. If each of them learns to work for his team and not for himself on the football field, he will later find it natural to work for the good of his country instead of only for his own benefit.A healthy citizen makes a strong country. Let’s all take part in sports and games.(三)My friend Robert started a new job this week and he’s been in the training class for two days. The employer has a very strict dress code—dark blue shirts and pants. On the first day, an older gentleman in his class did not have the proper clothes and he was strictly told that he would be fired if he didn’t have the right clothes the next day. He explained, “Sir, I had not been told about this. Because of my larger size, it’s sometimes difficult to find the right clothing for a price I can afford.”Last night, Robert and I decided that this old man shouldn’t lose the chance of work simply because he couldn’t afford the clothes. I had some cash on hand and Robert took it with him this morning just in case it was needed. When training started this morning, the trainer was ready to fire the older gentleman. “You have 10 minutes to be in proper clothes,” he was told. At this point, Robert spoke up and asked if he could have 10 minutes to get him the clothes. He then ran out to the store and bought the proper-sized pants and a shirt; he returned with both and gave them to the older man.The older gentleman began to cry and told him that he couldn’t accept such a gift from a stranger. Robert told him he had to because he had lost the receipt(收据) and couldn’t return them—a little white lie. The pants were a perfect fit, the shirt was a bit tight but he was able to keep his job.“My wife and I tried to gather together some money last night, but we didn’t have enough to buy the clothes,” he told Robert. “It’s unbelievable to me that anybody would do such a thing for only knowing me a day!”More unbelievable is how good it has made Robert and me feel to do this.1. Proper clothes for a strangerSmokingIt is well known that smoking does harm to the health. Today, so many people still keep smoking, which has drawn wide attention of the society.Smoking has so many disadvantages but no advantages at all. First, the cigarettes with nicotine in them do great harm to the health. Such diseases as pneumonia, lung cancer may be caused or partly caused by them. Furthermore, the bad effects of cigarettes cost the smokers lots of money, which could be spent on other meaningful things. Thirdly, the accidents of fire all over the world every year are mostly caused by the still-burning butts (end). The government has formulated the regulation of no smoking in public places. Yet its result is not so satisfactory. From my point of view, it needs the common efforts of the society. Not only the nonsmokers but the smokers should cooperate on this matter.(四)Many people go to school for an education. They learn languages, history, geography, physics, chemistry and mathematics. Others go to school to learn a skill so that they can make a living. School education is very important and useful. Yet no one can learn everything from school. A teacher,no matter how much he knows can not teach his students everything they want to know. The teacher’s job is to show his students how to learn. He teaches them how to read and how to think. So much more is to be learned outside school by the students themselves. It is always more important to study by oneself than to memorize some facts or a formula(公式). It is actually quite easy to learn a certain fact in history or a formula in maths. But it is very difficult to use a formula in working out a maths problem. Great scientists, such as Einstein,Newton and Galileo didn’t get everything from school. But they were all so successful. They invented so many things for mankind. The reason for their success is that they worked hard all their lives, wasting not a single moment. They would ask many questions as they read and they did thousands of experiments.Above all, they knew how to use their brains.1. From the passage we know that if we want to be successful, we should________ .A. Only learn more at schoolB. learn to learn at school and learn more outside schoolC. Only learn science subjectsD. needn’t go to schoo lMy Views on Large Modern CitiesSince every coin has two sides, living in large modern cities offers us many advantages, simultaneously causesmany troubles. Better education and better jobs are easy to get, and better medical care is convenient to receive in large modern cities.People are usually well informed due to the advanced media, such as television, newspaper and net PC. Large modern cities also provide varied entertainment for the city-dwellers. The public places like cinema, bar, disco-ball are everywhere. On the other hand, large modern cities are too big to control, so the traffic jams and traffic accidents often happen, and the social security is a headache problem. And city-dwellers have to face the housing problem. Usually a house is too expensive for the salary earning class to buy and the rent is also high. Moreover, noise and pollution in large cities bring harm to people’s health.(五)What’s the most important thing for you to have in your life? Somebody mentions hard-work, others suggest knowledge, love and luck.If you arrange(排列)the 26 English letters in order and use numbers to represent each of them, f or example, 1 for a, 2 f or b, 3 for c…26 for z, you can change an English word into a number. So hard-work becomes 8+1+18+4+23+15+18+11=98, meaning 98 is its mark. Knowledge: 11+14+15+23+12+5+4+7+5=96, love:12+15+22+5=54, and luck: 12+21+3+11=47, a small mark. None of these words can give one a full mark. What about money? It can’t, either. Then what else? Don’t be worried. You can always find an answer to a problem in your life, when you change your way of looking at things or doing things, or your attitude. Yes, attitude is the word. See for yourself: attitude:1+20+20+9+20+21+4+5=100,a full mark.Different attitudes lead to different courses of life. Most time people hope for a better life. It is possible that they will have a better life if they change their attitudes. When you change your manner and became friendly towards others, you’ll meet more smiling faces towards you. In the same way, if you take a positive attitude towards failure, you’ll find it’s also rewarding(有益的)though it has caused you losses(损失).1. The writer thin ks _________ is the most important thing in a person’s life.A. hard-work.B. know ledgeC. attitudeD. money2. What is the mark of the word money according to the passage?A. 72B. 73C. 75D. 623. According to the passage, if you meet with problems, the best way is to ___________.A. change your attitudeB. hope to be luckyC. ask for help from othersD. try math-solving ways4. From the passage we can learn that ______________.A. different attitudes come from different courses of lifeB. math can solve every problem easily in our daily lifeC. sometimes failure can bring you good if you take a positive attitudeD. none of the English words except “attitude” is 100 or moreMake friendsEveryone needs friends, and if you fail to make friends, you should examine yourself and see if there is something wrong with your personality.May be you have social faults such as snobbishness, talkativeness and using slang etc. which drive away your new acquaintances. Whatever your social faults may be, look at them honestly and make real effort to correct them.To be friendly you must feel friendly. Cheerfulness is the basis of friendliness. A cheerful person smiles. A smile is a magnet which draws people. A smile at someone and you are almost sure to get a smile in return.A friendly person does his best to make a stranger feel at home, wherever he happens to be. Put yourself in the other fellow's place and make them feel welcome.Try to remember names. It makes your new acquaintances feel happy when you call them by their names. It gives them the feeling that they have made an impression on you and that must mean something to them because youremember them.If you don't agree with other people on a certain matter, you should appear to be friendly. Don't argue, but discuss. You always lose friends if you argue too much.A friendly person thinks of others, and doesn't insist on his own "rights". People who refuse to consider others have few friends. Finally, don't treat people according to their social positions. Really friendly people respect everyone at all times.(六)There were smiling children all the way. Clearly they knew at what time the train passed their homes and they made it their business to stand along the railway, wave to complete strangers and cheer them up as they rushed towards Penang. Often whole families stood outside their homes and waved and smiled as if those on the trains were their favorite relatives. This is the simple village people of Malaysia. I was moved.I had always traveled to Malaysia by plane or car, so this was the first time I was on a train. I did not particularly relish the long train journey and had brought along a dozen newspapers and magazines to read and reread. I looked about the train. There was not one familiar face. I sighed and sat down to read my 21st Century Teens. It was not long before the train was across the Causeway and in Malaysia. Johore Baru was just another city like Singapore, so I was tired of looking at the crowds of people as they hurried past. As we went beyond the city, I watched the straight rows of rubber trees and miles and miles of green. Then the first village came into sight. Immediately I came alive; I decided to wave back. From then on my journey became interesting. I threw my magazines into the waste basket and decided to join in Malaysian life. Then everything came alive. The mountains seemed to speak to me. Even the trees were smiling. I stared at everything as if I was looking at it for the first time. The day passed fast and I even forgot to have my lunch until I felt hungry. I looked at my watch and was surprised that it was 3:00 pm. Soon the train pulled up at Butterworth. I looked at the people all around me. They all looked beautiful. When my uncle arrived with a smile, I threw my arms around him to give him a warm hug. I had never done this before. He seemed surprised and then his weather-beaten face warmed up with a huge smile. We walked arm in arm to his car.I looked forward to the return journey, by train.1. What did the author remember most during her train trip?A. The mountains along the way.B. The friendly country people.C. The crowds of people in the streets.D. The simple lunch served on the train.2. Which of the following can best take the place of the word “relish” in the second paragraph?A. chooseB. carry onC. prepare forD. enjoy3. Where was the writer going?A. Johore Baru.B. The Causeway.C. Singapore.D. Butterworth.4. What can we learn from the story?A. Comfort in traveling by train.B. Smiles brighten people upC. Reading gives people happiness.D. Pleasure of living in the country. How to Be PopularMost people would like to be popular with others, but not everyone can achieve this goal. What is the secret to popularity? In fact, it is very simple. The first step is to improve our appearance. We should always make sure that we stay in good shape and dress well. When we are healthy and well-groomed, we will not only look better but also feel better. In addition, we should smile and appear friendly. After all, our facial expression is an important part of our appearance. If we can do this, people will be attracted to our good looks and impressed by our confidence.Another important step is developing more consideration for others. We should always put others first and place their interests before our own. It's also important to be good listeners; in this way people will feel comfortable enoughto confide in us. However, no matter what we do, we must not gossip. Above all, we must remember to be ourselves, not phonies. Only by being sincere and respectful of others can we earn their respect. If we can do all of the above, I am sure popularity will come our way.。

what I have learned from the story
Before watching this movie, I have so many questions about life. "What have we lived for? What is the most important thing in our life? Facing unexpected death, what should we do? How to treat the value of money and time? "But now an old man, a young man, has taught me the life's greatest lesson---what the true meaning of life is.
Knowing he was terminally ill, he had never despaired. On the contrary, positive was he, he taught us that once you learn how to die, you learn how to live. We should pack on our trip in the lifetime, including love, work, forgiveness, kinship and so on. Every Tuesday, Mitch went to Morrie's home and told about his experiences. It's not just a recount, but a communication between two friends. Morrie using the simplest words helped Mitch knew the real life he wanted! This movie is a magical chronicle of their time together, through which Mitch shares Morrie's lasting gift with the world.
We can't predict the future, but we can seize the day. Although every person's life has a limitation, we can do something meaningful in limited time. Help others, love others, warm others. Just as Morrie said, love is an eternal theme.Love is the only rational act. Of course, not only learn how to love, but also learn how to receive love. Just keep perseverance in those things we think worth doing, and try to give up those valueless stuffs.
When it comes to death, maybe we hardly think of it and even not to think.Morrie said: have a little bird on your shoulder and ask, is today the day I am gonna die? Am I ready? Am I being the person I want to be? Death isn't a big matter, the importance of it is what you left after your death. You should leave something to prove that you didn't live your life in vain, it's worthful. Of course, Morrie didn't want to die, but it is not what he can control, so he chose to calm his fears. Not like some other people, giving up the rest of the life, or spending much money merely for prolonging several minutes of life span. Life is not necessarily long, instead, strive for leaving a happy impression for world. Even in the last minutes of his life, he kept his sense of humor. Dying is just one thing to be sad about, living unhappily is another matter.
We are almost brainwashed by the more the better. Fame, gain, right, money, ambition we bury ourselves in these things. One person must know what he really needs, what he really wants and not being guided to the wrong direction by the society. In the end you will find that, there are few essential things, but the snowball of lust gathers as it goes on. The things you spent too much time, might not seem so important, you might have left a room for some spiritual things. The true happiness wasn't brought merely by material wealth.。
