1 I General Introduction
Based on the Northwest Training School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which was founded in 1952, Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine was founded in 1959, moving to Xianyang city, Shaanxi province in 1961,
the first ancient capital city of Qin dynasty in the Chinese feudal society. Our university is one of the first colleges
of TCM in the northwest of China for cultivating high-level talents on traditional Chinese medicine and pharmacology. Our university is one of the eight key-constructive universities on TCM confirmed by the central government’s No.56 document in 1978 and is one of the first-batches for right to confer master degree of TCM
granted by Academic Degrees Committee of the Sate Council in 1981.
Shaanxi province, with short title as Shaan or Qin, is located at the most internal land of China. Its Longitude
105 ° 29'-111 ° 15 ', north latitude 31 ° 42'-39 ° 35', possessing the vital position that connects east middle districts
and southwest, northwest districts in China. The China’s land of origin is also located here, at Yongle (happiness for ever) town, Jingyang county, Shaanxi province. The province is famous for its galaxy of cultural and historical
interest and it is one of the birthplaces of TCM. China's north-south climatic divide Qinling Mountains across the province's something. SUN Simiao, the Master on traditional Chinese drugs, was born in Yaozhou district,
Tongchuan city, which is located in Shaanxi Province. Down the ages, Shaanxi gains the reputation of
“non-useless-grass-existing place” and “the cradle of masters on TCM”. To be specific, BIAN Que in Qin dynasty,
as well as SUN Simiao in Tang dynasty, they are remembered from generation to generation for their outstanding techniques and noble medical morality. Chinese Medicine in Han and Tang dynasty, which is formed here, even
equals essence of TCM theory. At the mean time, Shaanxi is regarded as the “China’s natural medicinal bank”, with
the second place of Chinese herbal medicine resources. The above unique natural geographic and historically
cultural advantages enable Shaanxi to create perfect conditions for inheriting and developing TCM.
Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine is located at the core area of Shaanxi province, ----the
Xi’an-Xianyang New Economic Zone, along the Wei river (the largest branch of the famous Yellow river) bank,
next to the Feng river. Thus, we enjoy convenient transportation, satisfactory environment, and what’s m ore, for students it is an ideal place to study. There are six secondary colleges, such as Basic Medicine College, Clinical
TCM College, Clinical TCM combination with Modern Medicine College, Clinical Medicine College, Pharmaceutical College, and Advanced Education College, etc.; eight academic teaching departments, such as Dept.
of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Dept. of Nursing, Dept. of Medical Technology, Dept. of Public Health, Dept. of Humanities and Science, Dept. of English, Dept. of Sports, and Dept. of Society and Science, etc.; two affiliated hospitals directly under the supervision of the university, 9 affiliated hospitals indirectly under the supervision of
the university, 1 GMP pharmaceutical factory and 1 medical history museum. More than 2415 teaching and administrative staff (including staff in two affiliated hospitals) contributes themselves to the development of the university, with 492 associate professors and above. There are 224 supervisors of master’s degree programs and 10
part-time supe rvisors of doctor’s degree programs. In particular, our university owns a great master on
TCM-ZHANG Xuewen, who is the only one in the northwest of China. And what’s more, celebrated experts, scholars and professors, such as Prof. GUO Chengjie, the famous inheriting acupuncturist expert (only three in China for his level) for world non-material cultural heritage inheriting program, also contribute themselves to the construction of the university.
For more than 60 years, our university not only has formed a whole education system to train the advanced personnel of TCM, including the education of undergraduate, postgraduate, adult, international as well as students
from Hong Kong、Macao and Taiwan, but also has a large scale, offering more than 20 undergraduate programs,

such as TCM, TCM(bone injury)，acupuncture and moxibustion, acupuncture and moxibustion(international
communication), Traditional Chinese Drugs (TCD), pharmaceutical preparation, pharmaceutical engineering (TCD processing), culture of Chinese language (teaching Chinese as a foreign language), English (international
communication on TCM), etc.. We has begun to enroll postgraduate students since 1978, with TCM, combination between TCM and modern medicine, TCD three first-class majors; acupuncture and moxibustion, basic theory on TCM, theory on TCM prescription, TCD, etc. more than 30 second-class majors. It integrates education, scientific research and medical service into itself. Basically, with the TCM and TCD as the core, the professional layout includes the mutual-infiltrated, promoting, coordinated and balanced medicine, science, literature, management, and engineering.
In the year of 1990, our university was approved as one of the first high education units to accept international students and students from Hong Kong 、Macao and Taiwan by the Ministry of National Education. Our university has established the training system of different levels and approaches, including full-time undergraduate, master postgraduate, and short-term training program. The Dept. of International Cooperation and Communication
(including Office of Hong Kong 、Macao and Taiwan Affair) is responsible for all kinds of international students’ recruit and acceptance, as well as the arrangement of teaching plan, providing excellent service for all students’ study and life. With the external continuous educational development, our international students’ enrollment is
upward increasing, up to now, there are altogether 1,000 students, from countries like Canada, the US, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and the Republic of Kazakhstan, districts like Hong Kong 、Macao and Taiwan, gained their
bachelor and master degrees. We have trained more than 2,000 professional talents for more than 50 countries and districts. Our university has established cooperation intention with more than 20 universities, such as the Capital University of Chinese medicine of Malaysia, the Toronto University of Chinese Medicine of Canada, School of Chinese Medicine of Huachiew Chalermprakiet University of Thailand, etc., which is subject to further broaden areas of cooperation.
Facing the future, Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine will further inherit and promote the fine
educational tradition and style, also deepen the reform on system and mechanism, to enhance internal construction and improve education level. Through the harmonious development in education scale, structure, quality and

V Requirements of enrollment (including what materials needed)
1 Language Students: final diplomatic certificate (copy) and related College report card

2 Undergraduate: high College diploma (copy) and related College report card (a bachelor degree certificate is needed if you want to apply for the second degree); certificate of HKS primary-level A-class (5 degree) and above (copy), or apply for being excused from an examination
3 Postgraduate: diploma on medicine or related majors and bachelor certificate; certificate of HKS second-level C-class (6 degree) and above (copy), or apply for being excused from an examination
VI Application instruction and steps
1 Language students, undergraduate and postgraduate ：

Fill the shit, and mail back or fax it and other required material to the university at least two months before the start
of semester

After auditing, six weeks before registration, the potential student will get the Admission Notice and Visa

The potential student deals with registration according to the designated date at the Int’l Education College 2 Short training ： (1) A short-term training class is required to include at least 15 students;
(2) Its opening time depends on specific situation; (3) Applicants enjoy the right to determine the opening time, under the discussion with the Int’l Dept ., and they are required to apply (through fax or E-mail) two months before the determined opening time;
(4) Trainees are required to pay all the training expenditure before the training courses begins; they cannot get it back if they withal during the training;
(5) Trainees are required to comply with teaching arrangement and various rules of the Int’l Dept..
