Mensa is an imemational club which only accepts members who have an IQ score in the top two per cent world wide.
The average person scores an IQ of approximately 100.But when Martin scored 160,the highest possible rating on the test, she matched the IQs of geniuses like Albert Einstein,Stephen Hawking, and Bill Gates, who are also thought to be in a similar range.
Martin’s parents said their little girl had given them signs she might be gifted for a long time.
From 12-18 months old,we’d be driving around in the car and she would recite her bedtime story from the night before, her father,Ian,told ABC 15.
She didn’t just recite them, she recited them exactly. She’s cunently consuming books at a 5th grade reading level and even taught herself Spanish on the family’s iPad.
Anytime she learns a word and just picks it up through anything, she never uses it in the incorrect context, said fan. And while her parents are grateful for her intellectual prowess(高超技艺),they are worried about what unique challenges it might give to raising Alexis.
One of the doctors who tested her said Alexis could never go to a normal school and that children with her level of intelligence often suffer from high anxiety unless they’re around similarly gifted boys and girls.

Clenching your fist could be enough to help you get a grip on your memory.
Research suggests that balling up the right hand and squeezing it tightly actually makes it easier to memorize lists.
Later, when it is time to get back the information,it is the left hand that should be clenched. It is thought the movements activate brain regions key to the storing and recall of memories.
The American researchers suggest those who are short of a pen and paper should try the trick when attempting to remember a shopping list or phone number.
In the study, volunteers were given a rubber ball and asked to squeeze it as hard as possible before trying to memorize
a list of 72 words.
They squeezed the ball again a couple of minutes later, ahead of recollecting as many of the words as possible. The first group of the volunteers used their right hand on both occasions, and the second group their left. The third group clenched their right fist ahead of memorizing and their left ahead of recall and the fourth did the opposite. The fifth group held the ball but did not squeeze it.
Those who squeezed with their right hand, followed by their left, remembered the most words.
The next best were the volunteers who made a fist with their right hand both times, while those who didn’t squeeze at all did better than those who led with their left.
It is thought that the movement of clenching the right fist activates a brain region that is involved in storing memories, while squeezing the left hand awakens an area that is key to getting back information.
Lead researcher Dr Ruth Propper said:‘The findings suggest that simple body movements—by temporarily changing the way the brain functions—Call improve memory.’

We often associate off-season travel with cost-cutting.You know,it’s something to be done as a last resort, not something that you actively look forward to.And
it surely is reasonable, isn’t it? Off-season just seems like a polite term for depressing weather, and a lack of good conditions for traveling.Recently, however, this term has begun to gain a steady stream of followers. The so-called peak season,on the other hand,is constantly losing ground owing to the large crowds and high costs that tend to be associated with it.
Off-season travel isn’t to everyone’s taste. So this is the time when airline companies come down to earth and offer a bunch of gifts to keep their business going on.You can mainly expect lowered fares and automatic upgrades if you’re a frequent traveler.Off-season means an encouragenlent for the hotel businesses as well.Ordinarily,5-star luxury is only something that we tend to dream of,but this is the perfect time to transform this into reality.Grand chain hotels cut their rates like crazy in order to fill up their rooms during this time, and worry not,the availability is fairly acceptable too.So make the most of it and book a fashionable room in a 5-star.Of course, you’re free to spend the amount you’ve thus saved 011 shopping.

Who has ever liked to be pushed and shouldered while taking a photo during an amazing
Copacabana sunset?Or have their wallet stolen in a crowded street?0ff-season travel translates to privacy, peace of mind, and relaxation.

[1]If doctors want to test you for something, they’ll usually take a blood or urine(尿)sample. But wouldn’t it be much more convenient if they just asked you to breathe through a special instrument.
[2]In fact, your breath can say a lot about you.In traditional Chinese medicine, doctors draw a conclusion about the health state of a patient based on the smell of his or her breath;trained dogs and rats can identify the smells of the breaths of people suffering from certain cancers;traffic police also monitor drivers’alcohol consumption_______________________.
[3]Just like blood and urine, your breath contains lots of‚lnetabolites(代谢物)‛-the waste chemicals that the body produces, which vary from person to person. They are like
personal health fingerprints, which is why scientists sometimes call them‚breathprints‛,according to Science Daily.
[4]Compared to blood or urine testing, breath testing takes only seconds instead of hours, and it requires neither a needle nor a container to hold the bodily fluids. This means the test can be taken frequently to better detect(检测)early signs of diseases and monitor the progress of a medical treatment.[5]On the other hand,as an identifier, you might think that breaths are not as reliable as
fingerprints since they might change based on what you eat. However, researchers in Zurich,
Switzerland mapped 11 healthy volunteers’chemical patterns by having them breathe through a special instrument, and they found that each pattern was unique and the patterns didn’t change much throughout the day, reported BBC.
[6]‚Our goal is to develop breath analysis to the point where it becomes competitive with the established analysis of blood and urine,‛said Malcolm Kohler, professor at the University Hospital Zurich.

第二节写作(满分30分)
One possible version:
Dear Mr Pearson,
I am writing you to apply for the membership of the English Tutorial.
As a Senior Grade 3 student, I think I’m doing well in English because I always get good marks in written English tests. But still I think I am not a perfect learner because I’m not so good at spoken English, and that is what troubles
me most. And when I listen to native speakers, I find it hard to catch what they talk about. Whenever I speak English, I often make some mistakes, which annoys me. So, I want to be a member in the speaking tutorial so that I can improve my spoken English and communicate better with others. I’m sure I’ll do much better in it with your help.
Looking forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely,
Li Ming

It takes some time (for sth.) to do。

为对the connection 来说,make是被动的,所以选择B。

It was only some of us that have received the invitation to his party。
