X city was hit by a flood …
Dear friends,
I am writing, on behalf of the student union, to ask for help for citizens in a disaster. Several days ago, X city was stricken by a flood. To make things worse, thousands of local residents are now homeless, striving for survival without assistance from families. (A couple of days ago, a flood and storm turned thousands of residents in X city into homeless individuals.)
They are exposed to two difficulties. Their daily necessities, including foodstuff, fresh water and medicine, are far from adequacy, while local authorities cannot afford to address their many needs.
