Watch Out! ELECTRIC SHOCK, MOVING PARTS,and HOT PARTS hazards. Consult symbols and related instructions below for necessary actions to avoid the hazards..Indicates special instructions.DANGER! − Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury. The possible hazards are shown in the adjoining symbols or explained inthe text.Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury. The possible hazards are shown in the adjoiningsymbols or explained in the text.NOTICE − Indicates statements not related topersonal injury.Only qualified persons should install, operate, maintain, and repair this equipment. A qualified person is defined as one who, by possession of a recognized degree, certificate,or professional standing, or who by extensive knowledge, training and experience, has successfully demonstrated ability to solve or resolve problems relating to the subject matter, the work, or the project and has received safety training to recognize and avoid the hazards involved.D Wear a welding helmet fitted with a proper shade of filter to protect your face and eyes when welding or watching (see ANSI Z49.1 and Z87.1 listed in Safety Standards). Refer to Lens Shade Selection table in Section 1-4.D Wear approved safety glasses with side shields under your helmet.D Use protective screens or barriers to protect others from flash, glare, and sparks; warn others not to watch the arc.D Wear body protection made from durable, flame −resistant material (leather, heavy cotton, wool). Body protection includes oil-free clothing such as leather gloves, heavy shirt, cuffless trousers, high shoes, and a cap.•Before welding, adjust the auto-darkening lens sensitivity setting to meet the application.•Stop welding immediately if the auto-darkening lens does not darken when the arc is struck.OM-281996 Page 2D Use helmet for welding/cutting applications only. Do not use helmet for laser welding/cutting.D Use impact resistant safety spectacles or goggles and ear protection at all times when using this welding helmet.D Do not use this helmet while working with or around explosives or corrosive liquids.D This helmet is not rated for overhead welding. Do not weld in the direct overhead position while using this helmet unless additional precautions are taken to protect yourself from arc rays, spatter, and other hazards.D Inspect the auto-lens frequently. Immediately replace any scratched, cracked, or pitted cover lenses or auto-lenses.D Lens and retention components must be installed as instructed in this manual to ensurecompliance with ANSI Z87.1 protection standards.D Use only genuine replacement parts from the manufacturer.D Perform installation, maintenance, and service according to the Owner’s Manuals, industrystandards, and national, state, and local codes.D Ventilate the work area and/or use local forced ventilation at the arc to remove welding fumes and gases. The recommended way to determine adequate ventilation is to sample for the com-position and quantity of fumes and gases to which personnel are exposed.D If ventilation is poor, wear an approved air-supplied respirator.D Read and understand the Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and the manufacturer’s instructions for adhesives, coatings, cleaners, consumables, coolants, degreasers, fluxes, and metals.D Work in a confined space only if it is well ventilated, or while wearing an air-supplied respirator.Always have a trained watchperson nearby. Welding fumes and gases can displace air and lower the oxygen level causing injury or death. Be sure the breathing air is safe.D Do not weld in locations near degreasing, cleaning, or spraying operations. The heat and rays of the arc can react with vapors to form highly toxic and irritating gases.D Do not weld on coated metals, such as galvanized, lead, or cadmium plated steel, unless the coating is removed from the weld area, the area is well ventilated, and while wearing an air-supplied respirator. The coatings and any metals containing these elements can give off toxic fumes if welded.WARNING: Cancer and Reproductive Harm − www.P65W OM-281996 Page 3ProcessElectrode Size in. Do not immerse the lens assembly in water.Keep helmet dry; do not expose helmet to rain or snow. Keep helmet away from fire and other sources of heat. The auto-darkening lens uses sensitive electronics. Do not drop helmet or handle it in a rough man-ner.The helmet requires little maintenance. However, for best performance clean helmet after each use. Using a soft cloth dampened with a mild soap and water solution, wipe the cover lenses clean. Allow to air dry. Occasionally, the filter lens and sensors should be cleaned by gently wiping with a soft, dry cloth.Store helmet in a clean, dry, cool place free of solvent−based vapors. T o prevent battery from losing power, store helmet in helmet bag or in a dark location. Remove battery(s) if helmet will be stored longer than six months.End Of Useful LifeThe welding helmet has no expiration date, and with proper care and maintenance it can provide many years of eye and face protection. The helmet can continue to be used, provided that the helmet shell/shroud is undamaged (no cracks, gaps, or holes) and the lens functions normally (switches from a light state to a dark state.)helm main 2019-05OM-281996 Page 13SECTION 9 −TROUBLESHOOTING Trouble RemedyNot switching – auto-lens stays light and will not darken when welding.Stop welding immediately. If power is on, review the sensitivity recommendations and adjust sensitivity. Make sure helmet is not in Grind mode. Clean lens cover and sensors of any obstructions. Make sure the sensors are facing the arc; angles of 45_ or more may not allow the arc light to reach the sensors.Check battery and verify it is in good condition and installed pro-perly. Also, check battery surface and contacts, and clean if ne-cessary. Check battery for proper contact and gently adjust con-tact points if necessary. This is particularly important if the helmet has been dropped. Not Switching – auto-lens stays dark after the weld arc is extinguished, or the auto-lens stays dark when no arc is present.Fine-tune the sensitivity setting by making small adjustments to the control by turning it toward the LO setting. In extreme light conditions, it may be necessary to reduce the surrounding light levels.Sections of the auto-lens are not going dark, distinct lines separate the light and dark areas.Stop welding immediately: The auto-lens may be cracked which can be caused by the impact of dropping the helmet. Weld spatter on the auto lens may also cause cracking. (The lens may need to be replaced; most cracked lenses are not covered by warranty).Switching or Flickering –the auto-lens darkens then lightens while the welding arc is present.Review the sensitivity setting recommendations and increase the sensitivity if possible. Be sure the arc sensors are not being blocked from direct access to the arc light. Check the lens cover for dirt and spatter that may be blocking the arc sensors. Increas-ing Lens Delay slightly may also reduce switching.Inconsistent or lighter auto-lens shading in the dark-state, noticeable on the outside edges and corners.Referred to as an angle of view effect, auto-darkening lenses have an optimum viewing angle. The optimum viewing angle is perpendicular or 90_ to the surface of the auto-lens. When that angle of view varies in the dark-state, welders may notice slightly lighter areas at the outside edges and the corners of the lens. This is normal and does not represent any health or safety hazard. This effect may also be more noticeable in applications where magnifying lenses are used.OM-281996 Page 14SECTION 10 − PARTS LISTFigure 10-1.

(25.4 mm). It leaves an oxidized cut surface. Compressed air can also be used for plasma gouging on carbon steel.Nitrogen is often used for higher current plasma systems and for cutting materials up to 3 in. (76.2 mm) thick. It produces excellent quality cuts on most materials.Oxygen is used when the highest quality mechanized cuts are desired on carbon steel up to 1-1/4 in. (31.75 mm) thick. The cut face is smooth, and dross is easy to remove. Oxygen can also be used on stainless steel and aluminum, but it produces a rougher cut face.Argon-Hydrogen Mixtures are generally used for cutting stainless steel and aluminum. They produce a clean, high quality cut face. Argon-Hydrogen is required for mechanized cutting of any material more than 3 in. (76.2 mm) thick. This mixture also provides an excellent gas for plasma gouging on all materials.1300Plasmarc ™ Cutting Package CapabilitiesI n c h e s /m m C a r b o n S t e e l4(101.6 mm)3.5(88.9 mm)00.5(12.7 mm)1(25.4 mm)1.5(38.1 mm)2(50.8 mm)2.5(63.5 mm)3(76.2 mm)Plasma ®1256508751600PackPlasma ®380Plasma ®550Plasma ®25060PLASMARC™ ACCESSORIESPlasma FlowMeasuring KitPlasmitw/TorchTorch Guide Kits■Includes attachments for circle and straight linecutting on ferrous and non-ferrous metals■For additional information, order literature numberEMB-1074 (Deluxe Kit) and/or EMB-1075 (Basic Kit)Adaptor for PT-17AM andPT-20AMX Torches⏹Adapts PT-17AM torch to PCM-875 andPCM-1125 console for manual cutting⏹Adapts PT-17AM/PT-20AM torches to PCM-875and PCM-1125 consoles for mechanized cutting90°Head Angle Converter Kit forPT-27/23 Torch⏹Fits between handle and head of torch⏹Gives the effect of a 90° angle torch headPlasma Flow Measuring Kit⏹Valuable troubleshooting tool⏹Allows measurement of actual plasma gas flowthrough torchRemote Hand Switch⏹Allows the operator to start and stop the cuttingprocess with a remote switch.⏹Used primarily for mechanized cutting and isincluded in the mechanized Plasmarc packagesTorch Retrofit Kits⏹Allow select ESAB Plasmarc torches to beretrofitted to other brand plasma consoles⏹Do not include the torch, which must be purchasedseparatelyLeather Sheath⏹A 10 ft. helmet翻译Helmet(头盔)是一种通用名词,用于指安全头盔。

Heli coid™

No matter what shade the filter is set to, the UV/IR protection is always present.toxic fumes, keep exposure as low as possible and within applicable OSHA PEL and ACGIH TLV limits using local exhaust or mechanical ventilation. In confined spaces or in some circumstances, outdoors, a respirator may be required. Additional precautions are also required when welding on gal-vanized steel.1Refer to /safetyfor additional safety information.HELMET INFORMATIONThis Auto-Darkening Welding Helmet will automatically change from a light state (shade DIN4) to a dark state (shade DIN9-13) when arc welding starts. The filter automatically returns to a light state when the arc stops. Match your welding application to the shade indicated on the shade chart. (See Page 6)• Operating temperature: 14°F ~ 131°F (-10°C ~ 55°C).• Do not use or open the auto-darkening filter if damaged by shock, vibration or pressure.• Keep the sensors and solar cell clean. Clean the filter cartridge using a soapy water solution and soft cloth which should be damp but not saturated. This Auto-Darkening Welding Helmet is designed for use with GMAW, GTAW, MMAW welding, or Plasma Arc and air carbon arc cutting. The cartridge provides protection from harmful UV and IR radiation, in both dark and light states. The cartridge contains two sensors to detect the light from the welding arc, re-sulting in the lens darkening to a selected welding shade.• Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaning detergent.• If cover lens is spattered or covered with dirt, it should be replaced imme-diately.• Use only replacement parts specified in this manual.• Do not use the helmet without inside and outside cover lenses properly in-stalled.2SPECIFICATIONS(1)Headgear compliance with ANSI Z87.1 is without sweatband installed.3Optical ClassLCD Viewing Area Cartridge sizeUV/IR Protection Arc Sensors Light State Shade Variable Welding ShadesShade Control Power Supply Battery Power On/Off Light to Dark Switching Time Sensitivity ControlDelay Control (Dark to Light)TIG Rating Operating Temperature Storage TemperatureTotal Weight Compliance (1)1/1/1/196 x 47mm (3.78 x 1.85in.)110 x 90mm (4.33 x 3.54in.)Up to Shade DIN 16 at all times2DIN 4DIN 9 to 13 and GrindExternal knob - full adjustment Solar cell with battery assist CR2450 Lithium batteryFully automatic0.00004 sec. This knob is lo-cated at the back of the helmet. HEADGEAR CROWN ADJUSTMENTS are made by adjusting for comfort and snapping the pins into the holes to lock se-curely in place.TILT:Tilt adjustment is located on the right side of the helmet. Loosen the right headgear tension knob and push the top end of the adjustment lever outward until the lever’s Stop Tab clears the notches. Then rotate the lever up or down to the desired tilt position. The Stop will automatically engage again when re-leased locking the helmet into position.FORE / AFT ADJUSTMENT:Adjusts the distance between the user’s face and lens. To adjust, loosen the outside tension knobs and slide forward or back to desired position and retighten. NOTE:Make sure both sides are equally positioned for proper operation.4CARTRIDGE OPERATION/FEATURESVariable Shade ControlThe shade can be adjusted from shade 9 to 13 based upon welding process or ap-plication (refer to Shade selection chart on page 6). The variable shade control knob is mounted on the exterior of the helmet shell. Grind mode can be selected by rotating the shade control knob counterclockwise till an audible click is heard. Grind mode is intended for grinding only not for welding.Sensitivity KnobYou can adjust the light sensor by turning the Sensitivity knob to the left or right as shown in the figure below. Turning the knob to the right increases sensitivity which makes the ADF cartridge more sensitive to light. When the helmet is used in the presence of excess ambient light or with another welding machine close by, improved helmet performance can be obtained with a lower setting turning the knob to the left to reduce the sensitivity.Delay Time KnobThis control is designed to protect the welder’s eyes from the strong residual rays after welding. Changing the Delay Time knob will vary dark to light time between 0.1 second (minimum) to 1.0 second (maximum). Turning the Delay Time knob to the right is maximum (1.0 second). This setting is recommended for high amperage applications where the weld puddle is still very bright after the welding arc has ceased and for situations where the filter may be temporarily blocked from seeing the welding arc. Power This ADF cartridge is powered by a replaceable battery and solar power. The battery is located at the top of the ADF cartridge. Replace battery when LOW BATTERY light is lit. See the specification chart on page 3 for type of battery required.Control KnobHELMET CARE AND MAINTENANCE Cleaning:Clean helmet by wiping with a soft cloth. Clean cartridge surfaces regularly. Do not use strong cleaning solutions. Clean sensors and solar cells with soapy water solution and a clean cloth and wipe dry with a lint-free cloth. Do NOT submerge shade cartridge in water or other solution. Storage: Store in a clean, dry location.recommended you use the next darker shade.6CARTRIDGE AND LENS REPLACEMENTReplacing Front Clear Cover Lens: Replace the front cover lens if it is damaged. Remove ADF holder assembly per Figure 1. Remove front cover lens from helmet assembly. Carefully remove gasket from cover lens. Install new cover lens into gasket and assemble to helmet shell. Make sure to assemble cover lens and gas-ket into helmet shell the same way as it was removed. Replacing Inside Clear Lens: Replace the inside clear lens if it is damaged. Remove ADF holder assembly per Figure 1. Remove shade cartridge from ADF holder. Place your fingernail in recess above cartridge view window and flex lens upwards until it releases from edges of cartridge view window. Change the Shade Cartridge:Remove ADF holder assembly from helmet shell. See figure 1 for removal. Flex top end of the ADF holder to allow for ADF cartridge to be removed from frame. Install new ADF cartridge into frame per figure 2 below. Make sure that the ADF cartridge is inserted in ADF holder correctly as shown. In-stall ADF holder assembly into helmet shell.Position the shade potentiometer inside of the helmet with the shaft protruding through the hole. From outside of the helmet, position dial panel onto the po-tentiometer shaft and secure potentiometer to shell, rotate shaft counterclock-wise until an audible click is heard and install shade control knob with pointer positioned at Grind location on dial panel. INSTALLING AN AFTERMARKET MAGNIFYING LENS: Simply slide the magnifying lens into the short rail located on the sides of ADF holder per Figure 3. Shade cartridge must be removed from ADF holder to install magnifying lens.7TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDET est your shade cartridge prior to welding by directing the front of the cartridge to-ward a bright source of light. Then, using your fingers, rapidly cover and uncover the sensors. The cartridge should darken momentarily as the sensor is exposed.8WARRANTY INFORMATIONWARRANTY INFORMATION: Reference IMWS1 included in Literature.SPATTER DAMAGE IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY:Do not use this product without the correct protective clear lenses installed properly on both sides of the Auto-Darkening Filter cartridge (ADF).
