The House Bunny and Legally BlondeLeslie C. Halpern, June 8, 2009The screenwriting team of Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith wrote the girl-power movies The House Bunny (2008) and Legally Blonde (2001) in which the Anna Faris and Reese Witherspoon characters have much in common. Comparisons and contrasts seem inevitable between House Bunny and Legally Blonde, two light romantic comedies about pretty blondes out of their element on college campuses.Similarities Between The House Bunny and Legally BlondeIn both films, attractive blonde women in their twenties known for getting by on their appearances try to fit into the college campus scene like fish out of water. In The House Bunny, Shelley Darlingson (Anna Faris) becomes a sorority house mother after being displaced from the Playboy Mansion. In Legally Blonde, Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) prides herself on her social activities within her sorority until she decides to enter Harvard Law School in order to prove to her former boyfriend that she can be a serious student.Although Shelley and Elle have knowledge within their own sheltered worlds, they are bothnaïve about life outside. Shelly is ridiculed for her ignorance about college life and her limited vocabulary. Elle becomes the butt of many jokes for her cute pink outfits, scented resume, and casual West Coast attitude toward law school.Despite their inexperience in life, both women help others with their knowledge of good grooming and social interaction with men. Although their skills may be limited to fashion and seduction, when called upon, Shelley and Elle go out of their way to assist others.People are quick to judge Shelley and Elle based on their outward appearances. All the pink, lace, fur, fluff, glitter, and cleavage make people assume they have little to offer besides their attractive exteriors.Despite major setbacks – including teasing and cruel pranks – both women manage to draw on inner qualities they didn’t know they possessed. Their adventures help them learn more about themselves, and as they learn to love their new personas, naturally they find romantic love as well.Differences Between The House Bunny and Legally BlondeSeeking a real family for most of her life, Shelley was first an orphan and then later attempts tofit in with the other women at the mansion. Eventually she takes on the role of house mother to the younger women of the Zeta house. Elle, on the other hand, has lived a life of luxury, growing up with her wealthy family in California where her mother and father pampered her.Shelley never went to college, but enters the campus at age 27 in order to find a mini Playboy mansion, that is, a sorority house resembling the mansion, in which to live for awhile. Elle attended a four-year college, and although never a serious student until she ventures into Harvard Law School, she earned her undergraduate degree. After she is cast out of the Playboy mansion, Shelley finds herself with nowhere to go and no one to turn to for help. Circumstances mostly out of her control have led to her current predicament. Conversely, Elle has created her own problems. By following the boyfriend who dumped her and entering an academic program for which she is ill suited, she has no one to blame but herself.Shelley Darlingson and Elle WoodsScreenwriters Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith created two outwardly similar characters in comparable circumstances. Their individual quirks (such as Shelley’s trick for remembering names and Elle’s extensive knowledge of hair care) reappear throughout t he films, and help add to the humor in addition to giving the women their unique identities.Despite a few differences, Shelley and Elle have one very important thing in common: They look deep within themselves for answers even when everyone else refuses to see beneath their surface beauty./article.cfm/comparison_of_the_house_bunny_and_legally_blondeA Comparison & Contrast Example:Compared and Contrasted with the following movie:。

To against such discrimination about women, some people launched a feminist movement aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic and social rights and equal opportunities for women.
Background Information
The story of Legally Blonde happened in the context of the patriarchal society which men controlled everything and women were not treated as equals In the then society, women had become commodities who were treated as objects to sell goods and services. Sexist advertising is rife, with the implicit message being that women were pieces of meat who defined themselves in terms of the male sexual reaction to them, and existed only for the consumption of men.

Matthew Davis is the youngest man (only 23) between these leading actors. He has performed some famous films including Urban Legends:The Final Cut (都市传奇 终极版) 珍珠港) 终极版)and Pearl Harbour (珍珠港).
Congratulations, Class of 2004, we did it!"
One aspect of filmmaking
costume
The movie was really hot at that time.It is just as easy as honey. The little girl's small mind and colorful dream world can always evoke your heart of innocence and the yearning for beautiful things. The most unforgettable thing is that----the colour of pink. The hat, clothes, skirt,high-heeled shoes, telephone, car, laptop and even the clothes of the pet dog are pink which blot out the sky and cover up the earth. Every girl’s eyes lit up watching the film. It’s just a dream world. It not only make Reese Witherspoon popular, but also drive the tide of pink.

Elle Woods is such a cool girl and she proved that you can be smart, fashionable, and successful all at the same time.Elle's determination to prove herself and show everyone that she is more than just a pretty face really touched my heart. She worked so hard to get into Harvard Law School, even though everyone thought she couldn't do it. But she never gave up and showed everyone that she was capable of anything she set her mind to.I also loved how Elle stood up for herself and didn't let anyone bring her down. Even when people doubted her abilities, she always stayed true to herself and never compromised hervalues. She taught me that it's important to believe in yourself and never let anyone tell you that you can't achieve your dreams. The story was so fun to read and I couldn't put the book down. I laughed, cried, and cheered for Elle throughout her journey. It was such a great feeling to see her succeed in the end and prove all the haters wrong.Overall, "Legally Blonde" is a fantastic book that teaches us to never give up on our dreams and to always stay true to ourselves. Elle Woods is now one of my favorite fictional characters and I will always remember her story as a reminder to keep pushing forward no matter what obstacles come my way.篇8Title: My Thoughts on Legally BlondeHey friends! So, like I just finished reading this super cool book called "Legally Blonde" and OMG, it was like totally awesome! It's all about this girl named Elle Woods who's like this super pretty and fashionable sorority girl, but then she decides to go to law school to win back her ex-boyfriend. And let me tell you, it was such a wild ride!At first, I thought Elle was just a typical blonde who cared more about looks and clothes than anything else. But as I read on, I realized that she's actually super smart and determined. She worked so hard to prove herself in law school and she didn't let anyone bring her down. I mean, she even helped solve a big murder case! One of the things I loved most about this book was how it showed that you should never judge someone based on their appearance. Just because Elle was a blonde and into fashion doesn't mean she couldn't be a great lawyer. She proved everyone wrong and became a total girl boss! Also, I really liked how Elle stayed true to herself throughout the book. She didn't change who she was just to fit in with the other students at law school. She showed that you should always be proud of who you are, no matter what anyone else thinks.Overall, "Legally Blonde" was such a fun and inspiring read. It made me realize that it's important to believe in yourself and never give up on your dreams, no matter what obstacles you face.I totally recommend this book to all my friends because it's, like, seriously amazing! So yeah, that's my thoughts on "Legally Blonde". ==============Legally Blonde==============You have to appreciate a movie whose title essentially sums up the whole thing. In Legally Blonde, Reese Witherspoon plays a blonde who ends up at Harvard law school. If you think you’ve got the whole movie figu red out from this scenario, you may be surprised to find out your preconceptions are only half-right. This isn’t a dumb comedy; it has a certain amount of intelligence to it. It’s at least smart enough not to make Elle Woods, the Witherspoon character, stupid—just ditzy. It also has the advantage of having Witherspoon in the lead role. No matter what her character says or does, she is always charming.Elle is a student and sorority sister at CULA. She has been dating Warren Huntignton III (Matthew Davis), and the beginning of the movie has her preparing for a big night. She’s sure Warren will propose to her tonight. However, at dinner, Warren states his desire to become a Senator and dumps Elle ("I need a Jackie, not a Marilyn."). Witherspoon’s reaction is great. She tries to hide her emotions in fear of embarrassing them, but she’ll occasionally let out a loud sob that gains everyone’s attention. Warren is on his way to Harvard for law school, and during their split, Elle realizes what she needs to do to get him back. She also needs to go to Harvard. After some major studying and preparation, she actually gets accepted. Warren is, of course, shocked to discover her appearance, and after a bad first class, Elle is even more shocked to discover that Warren is engaged to an old girlfriend, Vivian Kensington (Selma Blair). Will Elle start to take law school seriously? Will she try to get Warren back? Will the opportunity for her to shine arise? Of course these things will happen, but there are actually a few sur prises along the way. Elle and Vivian’s relationship takes an unexpected turn. The girls from home don’t arrive to shake things up (at least for a while). And most importantly, Elle is actually smart. Well, at least when it comes to hair treatment and fashion. But still, Elle is never dumbed down, and she never once comes across as fake or annoying. Some of the material here is throw-away. There’s an entire subplot involving a manicurist and a delivery man that seems thrown in to extend the running time. The scenes involving the subplot range from generic and predictable (a custody battle over a dog and a nose injury from flirting) to confusing and unnecessary (particularly the "bend and snap" dance sequence). The courtroom scenes are funny, and they stay t rue to Elle’s character. I liked how she outs a witness from his observation about designer shoes (prompting thebiggest laugh in the movie). Essentially, this is Witherspoon’s movie. She’s charming and funny and stays consistent with her character while never going over the top with her shortcomings. They could have been played for easy laughs, and I appreciate the movie’s restraint.I’m surprised how much the movie grew on me. It starts off like a Clueless rehash, but then once Elle gets to Harvard, it actually gets funny in its own way. It’s harmless, amusing, and semi-smart entertainment, and that’s far better than most of the comedies around.。

I can’t believe you’re getting engaged. To be “engaged” is to be officially planning to get married.

He’s proposing – I can’t look like I went on any other date. If a man “proposes” to a woman, he is asking her to marry him.
A

Let’s all go! Road trip! A much loved expression for a long trip in a car, often done spontaneously or without planning.
You passed Spanish because you gave Professor Montoya a lap dance at the final. A “lap dance” is a very sexually suggestive dance, often performed close to naked and right above one seated person. A “final” is short for a final exam , which is the most important test for a class.

What? Practically deformed? If a person is physically “deformed,” they look horrible and abnormal, perhaps because their face or body has been burned or twisted.

How courageous she was! For instance, when people underestimated her ability to enter law school, she didn't back down. Instead, she worked incredibly hard to prove them wrong. And even after encountering numerous setbacks, she remained optimistic and positive. Isn't that astonishing? No matter how tough the situation was, she never lost her faith and determination. This film shows us that women have the strength and perseverance to pursue their dreams. Elle's story makes us believe that with courage and a never-give-up attitude, any obstacle can be overcome. Don't we all need such inspiration in our lives? In conclusion, "Legally Blonde" is not just a movie, but a powerful reminder of the power of women's dreams and the importance of persistence. Let's all take a leaf out of Elle's book and go after our own dreams with passion and determination!篇2The movie "Legally Blonde" is not just a light-hearted comedy but a profound exploration of values and social significance. The plot unfolds with Elle Woods, a seemingly ditzy blonde, defying all odds to succeed in the legal field. This journey is not only about personal growth but also a mirror reflecting the biases and challenges faced by women in professional careers. The portrayal of friendship in the film is truly touching. When Elle faces difficulties, her friends stand firmly by her side, offering unwavering support and encouragement. This kind of sincere friendship makes us believe in the power of companionship! Isn't it wonderful how true friends can lift us up when we need it the most? The depiction of love is also quite remarkable. Elle's pursuit of love is not blind but filled with self-awareness and growth. She realizes that true love should be based on mutual respect and understanding.Through Elle's struggle in the legal world, we see the blatant prejudice against women. Why is it so hard for women to be taken seriously in professional fields? But Elle's success proves that women are equally capable and deserve equal opportunities. In conclusion, "Legally Blonde" is not just a fun watch; it provokes thoughts and challenges societal norms. It makes us question the existing biases and encourages us to strive for a more inclusive and fair society.Don't we all need such inspirations to make our world a better place?篇3The movie "Legally Blonde" is truly a remarkable piece of cinematic art that has left an indelible mark on the hearts of its viewers! It is not just an ordinary film but a wonderful combination of comedy and inspiration. The comedy elements in this movie are simply hilarious! Take, for instance, the scene where Elle Woods shows up at Harvard Law School with her bright pink outfits and fluffy accessories, causing everyone to be taken aback. The absurdity of these situations makes us burst into laughter time and again. But it's not all about the laughs. The励志theme of the movie is incredibly powerful and uplifting! Elle's determination to prove herself in the male-dominated field of law, despite facing countless obstacles and prejudices, is truly inspiring. How could one not be moved when she overcomes one challenge after another with her unwavering spirit? This film has a profound impact on the audience. It teaches us that we should never let others' expectations or stereotypes define us. Just like Elle, we should have the courage to pursue our dreams, no matter how unconventional they may seem. It also shows us that humor can be a great tool to convey serious life lessons. In conclusion, "Legally Blonde" is not only a source of entertainment but also a source of motivation and wisdom. It makes us believe that with perseverance and a positive attitude, anything is possible!篇4When it comes to legal-themed films, "Legally Blonde" stands out as a remarkable and distinctive entry. Compared to other movies of the same genre, its uniqueness is palpable. Take the character shaping, for instance. In many traditional legal films, the protagonists are often depicted as serious, stern, and somewhat one-dimensional. However, in "Legally Blonde", the lead character Elle Woods is a refreshing departure. She is not only charming and fashionable but also incredibly intelligent and determined. Her journey from being underestimated to becoming a respected legal professional is both inspiring and heartwarming! The plot development of "Legally Blonde" is also quite different. Instead of the typical intense courtroom battles and complex legal jargon, this film focuses on Elle's personal growth and her ability to overcome stereotypes and prejudices. How she uses her unique skills and perspective to solve cases is truly fascinating! Moreover, when it comes to presenting the power of women, "Legally Blonde" offers a fresh perspective. It doesn't rely on the usual tropes of female empowerment, such as physical strength or aggression. Instead, it showcases how Elle's confidence, kindness, and perseverance can break down barriers and achieve success in a male-dominated field. Isn't this a powerful message? In conclusion, "Legally Blonde" is not just an entertaining film butalso a thought-provoking one. It challenges the conventions of the legal genre and presents a new and inspiring vision of female strength and potential. How could one not be impressed by such a wonderful film?篇5The movie "Legally Blonde" is not just a typical chick flick; it is a masterpiece that deserves in-depth exploration for its artistic value. Firstly, the cinematography is truly remarkable. Take, for instance, the scene where Elle Woods walks into the courtroom for the first time. The camera follows her from behind, capturing her nervous yet determined steps. This slow and deliberate shot builds up tension and anticipation, enhancing the story's infectiousness. The use of light and shadow also adds depth to the scenes, making them visually captivating.Secondly, the music in the film plays a crucial role. When Elle is studying hard and overcoming challenges, the upbeat and inspiring soundtrack boosts the mood and makes the audience feel her perseverance. How can one forget the emotional scene where Elle confronts her ex-boyfriend, accompanied by a poignant melody that heightens the drama and tugs at the viewer's heartstrings?Last but not least, the costumes in "Legally Blonde" are a feast for the eyes. Elle's various outfits not only showcase her fashion sense but also reflect her evolving character. From the bright pink ensembles in the beginning to the more sophisticated and professional looks later on, theclothing choices add an extra layer of charm to the story. In conclusion, "Legally Blonde" is a cinematic gem that combines excellent filming techniques, compelling music, and fabulous costumes to create an unforgettable viewing experience. It is not just entertainment; it is a work of art that leaves a lasting impression!。

On our very first day at Harvard, a very wise professor quoted Aristotle 'The law is reason free from passion'. Well, no offense to Aristotle but in my three years at Harvard, I have come to find that passion is a key ingredient to the study and practice of law and of life. It is with passion, courage of conviction and strong sense of self that we take our next step into the world. Remembering that first impression are not always correct, you must always have faith in people, and most importantly, you must always have faith in yourself.Congratulations, Class of 2004, we did it! It is given to him but once, and he must live it so as to feel no torturing regrets for wasted years, never know the burning shame of a mean and petty past; so live that, dying, he might say: all my life, all my strength were given to the finest cause in all the world—the fight for the Liberation of Mankind.人生最宝贵的是生命。

was confused about his future. He didn’t know what he want and what he need clearly. He missed himself. He made a mistake that he couldn’t resist the temptation from one of his father’s friend, an middle named The Color Purple tells a story of a young African girl, Celie, who was separated with her little sister because of their unfortunate fate.During their separation, Celie had several setbacks in her life but she was inspired by friends as well.Eventually, she challenged herself and reunioned with her sister. What I want to discuss is the self-consciousness awakening of black woman in this story.Celie is the major role of the movie.Ugly, black, timid… It seems that all kinds of pitiful adjectives could work on her.She was devastated by her step-father and gave birth to children when she was fourteen. Then her step-father snatched her children and she married Mister, a rude man reluctantly. She has to do all the housework, look after the naughty children and bear the bad temper or maybe the violence from her husband. She was in distress but never to fight for freedom, she only poured out her trouble to God.When Shug, Mister's lover, came into her life, Celie begun to see her worth as a human being.Celie also found strength in Sofia, Mister's son Harpo's wife.Sofia had also suffered abuse from men in her family. But unlike Celie, she refused to tolerate it.Finally, she leftMister and cried out, “ I'm p oor, black.I may even be ugly. But dear God, I'm here!” The words remind me of the words in Jane Eyre:“Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I amsoulless and heartless? You think wrong!–I have as much soul as you,–and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you.” Although they are in different country and different times, they both understood their own value and fight for independence through their own efforts. When discriminated and dominated, women should get rid of the mental shackles, maintain the integrity of the spiritual world and rely on women's mutual concern and support.Only through this way can women achieve real independent and autonomy.第四篇:傲慢与偏见电影英文观后感Film Review of Pride and Prejudice Pride and Prejudice is a famous classic written by Jane Austen.I was attracted by the characters and plots of the film adapted from the novel.Elizabeth is the heroine of the story. When she meets Darcy, a handsome, rich but arrogant man, on the party for the first time, she is dissatisfied with the proud manner of Darcy.Darcy looks down on those who are in a lower social class, including Elizabeth. However, after getting to know the courage, independence and confidence of Elizabeth, he almost falls in love with her.But Elizabeth believes the lies of Wickham which causes her great prejudice to D arcy. She rejects Darcy’s propose marriage to protect her self-respect.Finally, Darcy goes away because he couldn’t tolerate Elizabeth’s sisters’ vulgar manners. He writes a long letter to explain his thoughts and love to Elizabeth. After reading it,Elizabeth feels guilty about misjudging Darcy and regrets turning him down.As time goes away, Darcy gradually improves his pride and keeps helping Elizabeth’s family out from troubles. At last, Elizabeth removes the prejudice to Darcy and accepts his propose marria ge.From the film I learn that we can’t judge a man immediately by the first impression. If we are controlled by our subjective senses, it will easy cause prejudice and misunderstanding and probably influent the developments of many events.T o avoid this situation, we need more communication to understand others deeply by ourselves.第五篇:小猪宝贝英文观后感It goes without saying that The Gallant Pig is one of my favourite movies. And I love the cute pig so much. This is a tale about an unprejudiced heart, and how it changes the world forever.Through the ages pigs were afforded no respect, except by pigs. However, Pig Babe was so lucky.Since he came to this home, he found ways to make Hoggett happy.Nonetheless other animals in this valley laughed at him.Little by little, he turned into a pig who could shepherd sheep. That made Hoggett love him. There's no denying the fact that Pig Babe's goodness and wisdom gain the animal's trust and find favour in Hoggett's eyes.Pig Babe's story tells us that someone needs to do is to have faith, persistence, courage and indomitable spirit.Persevere and you will succeed.。

Legally Blonde: A Movie of Inspiration
Passage One
The comedy "Legally Blonde", starring an irrepressible Reese Witherspoon, is a new twist on the old adage, "Looks aren't everything".
Elle Woods is a super-blonde, super-rich, super-sorority girl from California. When she's dumped by her Harvard Law School-bound boyfriend Warner — because she's too blonde to be considered seriously as wife material: "If I'm going to be a Senator, I need to marry a Jackie, not a Marilyn." — she fights back, after a long cry, nail by manicured nail, first by following Warner to Harvard Law School, abandoning her major in fashion merchandising for something more substantial, then by proving that just because you're blonde doesn't mean you're a joke.
Of course, we know that Elle will meet every challenge that she faces and wind up with both a legal career and Mr. Right — even if he's not the original one. But we still root for her all the way because she proves to be a decent and generous person under all the ridiculous surface frippery. Indeed, Ms. Witherspoon won me over right from the start, during Elle's last dinner date with Warner. As he indirectly leads up to his bombshell rejection, her face becomes a symphony of fast-changing expressions denoting agreement and obedience until she breaks down from the shock of Warner's bad news. It's an expertly acted piece of self-parody that never diminishes her attractiveness.
The movie, however, is full of good humor. Based on the novel of the same name by Amanda Brown, "Legally Blonde" is a sassy satire that retains a message: believe in yourself and follow your dreams. Besides being funny, it's an ode to self-empowerment — especially girl power —and its target audience of young women everywhere will gobble it up like the latest glossy edition of Cosmopolitan magazine. Passage Two
Elle isn't such an unlikely candidate for Harvard Law; she did, however, have a 4.0 average as an undergraduate majoring in fashion merchandising at the fictional CULA. Moreover, she also has a very impressive background as homecoming queen and sorority president, her signature color is pink, and she's appeared in a Ricky Martin music video. Who could ask for anything more? She's an emblem of diversity!
Naturally, she's accepted. Nothing will stop her now as she campaigns all over Harvard to win back her man. Call it blonde ambition.
"Legally Blonde" becomes a "blonde-out-of-water" story as her snobby fellow law students begin taking bets on how long she'll last. Meanwhile, she discovers that Warner isn't worth all the effort. Succeeding in law school becomes a personal goal, and not merely a means to win back her shallow boy toy. She's a bubbly blonde with brains. Her points of reference may not be Plato and Socrates, but she proves that knowledge about Clinique, Porsches and lip gloss also can come in handy in a classroom or a courtroom.
The supporting cast is a winning bunch. Selma Blair is excellent as Vivian Kensington, who
has snagged Warner and is wearing his grandmother's six-carat Harry Winston diamond engagement ring on her "bony" finger.
Luke Wilson plays Emmett Richmond, a somewhat thankless role as a third-year law student who falls in love with the inner woman beneath Elle's golden locks.
First-time feature film director Robert Luketic is an Australian native who has been dedicated to becoming a film director since the age of 15. This debut project sees him well on his way.
Full of clichés and pop culture references, and peppered with trendy slang, "Legally Blonde" has its roots deeply planted in the style of another hit teen comedy —basically, it's "Clueless" (1995) goes to college. Whatever. It's a formula that's well done with plenty of laughs. (Based on the review by Paul Clinton, CNN Reviewer)。
