Maybe I'll start a rock band when I'm older.In addition to normal classes, I'm also part of the school's Chinese yo-yo club. It's a traditional Chinese toy that looks kind of like a circular yo-yo. We learn all these awesome tricks like walking the dog, rocket, and hooking the yo-yo around our arms and legs. Some kids in the club are so talented and can do incredible tricks! I'm still working on the basics but it's a blast. Such a fun way to learn about my culture while getting some exercise too.Phew, I've rambled on for quite a while about everything I'm learning and doing at school! As you can probably tell, I just love being a student and soaking up as much knowledge as I can. My brain is like a sponge ready to absorb it all. I work so hard at it because I know it will open up opportunities for me later in life. We start English instruction in 1st grade here with basic vocabulary and sentence structures. By 3rd grade like me, we're reading and writing short stories. My teacher says my pronunciation is quite good, but I still struggle to fully understand everything. I watch English movies and TV shows as much as I can to practice listening comprehension. Maybe you can recommend some good show for kids my age?In addition to the core subjects, we also have classes in art, music, PE, morals/ethics, and Chinese history. Art class is probably my favorite "extra" subject. I just love being creative and using colors, sculptures, or whatever the assignment calls for. We recently learned traditional Chinese brush painting which was difficult but really satisfying once you get the hang of the brush strokes. I made a beautiful picture of a lake and mountains for my parents.Outside of academics, I'm also involved in some school clubs and activities. I'm part of the broadcast club where we run the morning announcements on our student TV channel. I have to speak loudly and clearly which helps my public speaking skills. I'm also on the soccer team which is tons of fun. We practicetwice a week and play matches against other schools sometimes. My favorite club might be the musical theater troupe though. We're currently rehearsing for our year-end production of The Wizard of Oz! I play one of the munchkins. The costume is so cute and fun to wear. We have to memorize all our lines, songs, and choreography. The performances will be in a few weeks so we're working extra hard lately.In my limited free time, I just like to play with my friends in the neighborhood, read books, or hang out with my family. My dad is pretty strict about study time and limiting screen usage. But I do get to watch some TV and use my tablet occasionally when my work is done. I have a few learning apps that make studying kind of fun with games and rewards. 这本书看完，百味杂陈。
Educated的意思是受教育。
这本书是纪实的回忆录，作者 Tara Westover 讲述了她从童年到博士毕业的故事。
她出生在一个美国中部山区的摩门教家庭，父亲经营一个金属废品处理场，母亲给人接生和出售草药，有七个子女。
父亲相信世界末日即将降临，所以一直都在囤积各种东西以确保生活的自给自足。
由于父亲不相信联邦政府，所以他们家人生病、受伤、生小孩从来不去医院，完全在家里靠草药解决问题。
因为父亲认为学校教育是政府对人的洗脑，她在17 岁前都没有接受过正式的学校教育。
Tara通过努力被犹他州的BYU（Brigham Young University）录取，并在期间得到了Bill Gates 设立的奖学金而到剑桥学习。
她最终在剑桥大学取得了历史学博士学位。
这本书可以看作是励志的一本书，但是里面原生家庭带来的身体上和心灵上的伤痛也让人震撼。
我自己被震撼到的点就有许多许多个。
感叹Tara改变了自己的生活和命运，感动她碰见好心人在指引她帮助她，让我很难过的是这个家庭的爸爸妈妈也爱自己的子女，但是要犯那么多的错。
这么多的点，我的思绪也太多线头，只能挑一些讲。
要了解全貌，还是要去看书。
首先让我觉得好奇的就是，Tara没读过小学，初中，高中，为何知名学府杨百翰大学会录取她，她学业上优秀吗？是父母在家homeschool吗？据我所知，美国有些家庭因为宗教原因或者不满意公立学校教学质量或风气，认为自己在家提供的homeschool学的更好，选择孩子在家上学。
通常是父母会教的家庭才敢这么做，而且也要像学区报备，领取学习资料，接受一定监督。
这样的homeschool还有一些民间组织，比如组织同样在家上学的孩子一起上体育课，有小朋友之间的交流机会，不至于脱离群体。
确实也有许多homeschool成功的例子。
但Tara不是，可以说Tara这样读书经历的，80年代之后出生的小孩几乎难以想象，但她是真实的，而且学业成功了。

How to multiply and divide fractions
Multiplication
Example
When multiplying 2 fractions, we multiply the two numerators together and the two denominators together. The new numerator is the product of the numerator in the first fraction and the second one. The new denominator is the product of the denominator in the first fraction and the second one.
In the illustration above, the blue part of the pie represents 1/3. The blue section next to it shows the 1/3
piece divided into 2 equal parts. Choosing one of these parts gives us the last section which is 1/6.
Example
When we multiply a whole number by a fraction, we multiply the whole number by the numerator of the fraction. The denominator stays the same. The new result is a fraction in which the numerator has the product of the whole number and the fraction's numerator, the denominator has the fraction's denominator.
RULE FOR MULTIPLYING FRACTIONS
The product of two fractions is a fraction whose numerator is the product of the numerators of the given factors (A/B) and (C/D) and the denominator is the product of the denominators of the given
fractions.
Division
Example
2 ÷ 1/3
When we divide a whole number by a fraction, we multiply the whole number with the inverse of the fraction. The inverse of a fraction is created by substituting the numerator for the denominator and the denominator for the numerator. In this example, the inverse of 1/3 is 3/1. And the product of 2 and 3 is 6.
How many 1/3's are there in 2?
2 contains six 1/3's.
Example
1/2 ÷ 1/3
When we divide fractions, we multiply the first fraction with the inverse of the second fraction. In this example, the inverse of 1/3 is 3/1.
How many 1/3's are there in 1/2?
1/2 contains one and a half 1/3's.
RULE FOR DIVIDING FRACTIONS
To divide fraction A/B by C/D, multiply A/B by the inverse of C/D which is D/C.。
