The book report of The old man and the sea1《老人与海》英文读书报告
The book report of The old man and the seaBy Ernest HemingwayErnest Miller Hemingway was an American novelist, short-story writer, and journalist. Hemingway received the Pulitzer Prize in 1953 for The Old Man and the Sea. He received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954. During his later life, Hemingway suffered from increasing physical and mental problems. In July 1961, he committed suicide by shooting, himself. Hemingway's distinctive writing style is characterized by economy and understatement and had a significant influence on the development of twentieth-century fiction writing. The Old Man and the Sea is based on the novel written true story. After World War II, Hemingway moved to Cuba, met old fisherman Gregorio Fuentes. In 1930, Hemingway by a ship in the storm victims, Fuentes and Hemingway rescued. Since then, Hemingway and Fuentes developed a profound friendship. In 1936, Fuentes was far out to sea to catch a big fish. Fishing is one of the most dangerous work in the word. They must face up to the dangerous environment. Also they must face the loneliness. The story is one year near sixty years of age senior fisherman. At first 84 days, he did not fish one fish. He did not have enough food, and many locals doubt his fishing technique. So, he decided to go to the sea to fish food and proved that he is a skilled fishermen. Finally, he found there is a big fish but hedidn't pull. He fought with the big fish for several days, and discovered that it was a big marlin. Eventually, he defeated the fish. However, the fish's blood smell brought in several crowds of sharks. These fierce sharks snatched the marlin's meat. The exhausted old man returned himself to fight with these sharks. At that moment, although he knew utterly it was difficult for him to win, the old man did not give up.Usually, when people finished this masterpiece, they always are fully convinced by the great old man’s determination, courage, and toughness. I have already heard of this masterpiece for many years. People love it, prise it, and respect it. But when I finished it, at the first moment, I just wonder: Actually, our human-beings don’t know what we really want, what we dream for, and what we fight for. The problems are always produced by ourselves continuously. Then, we try our best to defeat it and even, destroy it. But to the essence, who on earth was defeated till the end? And what’s more, after the conquest, what are we going to do and what can we do? The essence of our Chinese traditional culture is the affinity while for the American culture it emphasizes the conquest, that’s really totally different and it’s what we should think ove r. When we understand the meaning of conquest, we can absorb and extend the meaning of our life. If we only focus on the conquest blindly, even it’s a wonderful, splendid and encouraging process, nothing will on our hands at last just as the old man Santiago get nothing but the skeleton. Many people admit and praise thisbelief that the man is not made for defeat, a man can be destroyed but not defeated, but what about other creatures in the world, to some extense, in the whole universe? No matter what kind of person we are, or how small or humble we are, it doesn’t matter. What matter most is w hether we know what we want to purchase through our life.。

老人与海(the old man and the sea)英文书评
Book review of The Old Man And The SeaThe famous novel--The Old Man And The Sea is a book that I have always wanted to read in my high school. It tells a story about an old, experienced fisherman named Santiago who had gone eighty-four days without taking a fish and was considered "salao", the worst form of unlucky. On the eighty-fifth day, Santiago set out alone, confident that his unlucky streak was near its end.[1]By the moon of the day, an exceptionally huge marlintook his bait, which was 2 feet longer than his skiff. But the vigor of the big fish was so strong that it dragged the boat drifting for two days and two nights.Meanwhile, the old man held the line and bore the great tension from it without a break. Despite the injury and pain from the struggleSantiago still appreciated his rival and always regarded the marlin as his brother. Finally Santiago gathered all the strength he has left in him and managed to stab the marlin with a harpoon, ending the bitterly tough fight, which lasted for nearly two days.[2] On his way back, crowds of sharks were attracted by the blood scent of the big marlin. Unwilling to lose his trophy which he thought was beautiful, noble, calm and of great dignity, the old man kept fighting with the sharks though there was no hope to win. During the fight, he killed several sharks but lost almost all the tools that could be used as a weapon. Finally the sharks have almost devoured the marlin's entire carcass,[3]only leaving the old man a huge skeleton. The old man continued his journeyback trying not to pay attention to the marlin fish as if the sharks had took nothing away. At the end of the story, the writer told us the old man was dreaming about the lion. After reading the story, I was shocked deeplyand an affection of respect arose spontaneously in my heart. Santiago is a hero of great courage, brave soul and no fear of anything. He respects his rival and will never admit defeat no matter how strong the opposite side is. He loves the marlin which he fought with for two days.As he has said: “I love you and respect you very much, but I will kill you dead until this day end.”[4]When the sharks bit the marlin, he felt sorrowful.Santiago is a real man and will never give up even when there is little hope. He likes challengesand will spare no effort to achieve it. He has played the hand game with the great negro from Cienfuegoswho was the strongest man on the docks. They had gone one day and one night with their elbows on a chalk line on the stable and didn`t stop even blood came out from the fingernails of both his and the negro`s hands. Finally he unleashed his effort and forced the hand of the negro down and down until it rested on the wood.[5]I still remember the scene: when the marlin fish was attacked by a group of sharks, “Fight them,” He said. “I`ll fight them until I die.”[6]The old man is a symbol of the perfect person: strong, generous, kind and full of love, which Hemingway admires most. Even failed in thearena of life, in faced with irreversible fate, he is mentally strong and always tough. Although they didn`t succeed, they owned the dignity and courage as a man and the poise of a winner. The brave Santiago is also an image to reflect the author himself. To some extent we regard it as an autobiography of Hemingway. World WarⅠhas left him with 237 scars on his body and the nightmarish memories of war. After the war, he insisted on writing every day and created many famous books. And in 1954,the novel The Old Man and The Sea brought him the Nobel Prize in literature. He has a special writing habit: when he was writing, he always stood. But in his later years, Hemingway was in great sickness and deeply addicted to alcoholwithout creating any influential work.In 1961, Hemingway ended his life with his gun.Hemingway has always been regarded as a Dauntless Man in literature, just like the old Santiago. They represent a kind of man, who has full energy to overcome any obstacles, brave spirit to respond to any challenge and a strong will never to give up. His suicide shocked all the people.Maybe we can get an answer from Nietzsche`s point which he advocated--Timely and die. Die in the peaks of happiness is the most glorious. He said in The Old Man and The Sea that a man can be destroyed but not defeated. Maybe he was worried himself to be defeated, so he destroyed himself. He gave up his life to defend his dignity and nobleness. Our life is like a long journey from birth to death. It will be full ofendless difficulties and obstacles, just like the marlin and the shark. Sometimes they will prevent us from getting what we want and sometimes they will take away what we cherish most. Only those who have no fear of everything and never give up can win the long battle. I will always remember what Santiago said, man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated.[7]Reference1./wiki/The_Old_Man_and_the_Sea2./wiki/The_Old_Man_and_the_Sea3./wiki/The_Old_Man_and_the_Sea4.Ernest Hemingway. The Old Man and The Sea.5.Ernest Hemingway. 老人与海读书报告
老人与海读书报告《老人与海》读书报告书名:作者:老人与海海明威原版名称:The Old Man and the Sea译者:海观“一艘船越过世界的尽头,驶向未知的大海,船头上悬挂着一面虽然饱经风雨剥蚀却依旧艳丽无比的旗帜,旗帜上,舞动着云龙一般的四个字闪闪发光——超越极限!”
The book report of The old man and the sea2《老人与海》英文读书报告
The book report of The old man and the seaBy Ernest HemingwayThis summer vacation, I read the American well-known writer Hem ingway's novel " old person and sea ". I extremely admire in theno velthe senior fisherman's will, he let me understand one person certain ly must have relentless spirit, only then could obtain successfully. Santiago is a very old Cuban fisherman who is regarded as a verytough and powerful man with great determination, courage and conf idence all over the world. As widely accepted, the process he fight withthe big fish, Marlin, and the sharks is actually being turned into so mething more profound, that is the fight between human beings and the nature. A very famous saying from this no vel is that “But ma n is notmade for defeat, A man can be destroyed but notdefeated.”Which cancompletely reflect the old man’s character. He's a very man who is strong and courageous enough to challenge his own de fects. He fights with the nature for his perseverance and his dream. He is actuallysuccessful at last though he has lost his big fish. Some might argue and say that he was defeated as he is the one who said: "they beat me Manolin they truly beat me". However, I respond to them by saying: It is the physical defeat that the old man is talking about and is suffering of, but as far as his faith, spirit, and persistence are concerned he is still a winner. In addition, he is the one who said ' It is silly not to hope, besides I believe it is a sin."As a matter of fact, I see that we should use this extraordinary story as a remedial aid for desperate and depressed people who need a great vigor for enduring their struggle in this life. They should say as the boy, Manolin, said :"I'll bring the luck by myself." In this story, Hemingway represents a distinction between two different types of success: outer-material and inner-spiritual. While the old man lacks the former, the importance of this lack is eclipsed by his possession of the later. He teaches all people the triumph of inevitable spirit over exhaustible resources. Santiago as a perfectionist man tells us: To be a man is to behave with honor and dignity, not to give in to suffering , to accept one's duties without complaint, and most importantly to have maximum self-control. At the end of the story he mentions, "A man is not made for defeat...a man can be destroyed but not defeated''. Like Christ, Santiago represents all those people who pass difficulties and gain the ability to change death into life and defeat into success. In my opinion, Santiago is a man whom we should all respect and honorbecause the sacrifices he presents are unbearable to lots of people; it iseven rare to have such model these days.Generally speaking, courage, hope, and wisdom are the things that I learn from this book. As we all know that, the sea is very beautiful and amazing, but it also can be very dangerous and fearful. Just like the sea, Life can’t always be so smooth, sometimes it may be very tough and difficult. In face of it, some people tend to be very afraid of that and don’t want to deal with it. To be honest, I used to be that kind of person. After reading this novel, I tell myself to be brave, to hold hope, and to gain wisdom. “Man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated.”。

Keep the human dignity and courage have a victor's grace, is mentally strong.”The human is not lives for the defeat, a person may destroy, but cannot give is defeated.”I still remember the classic saying. It is the essence of the book.Nowadays, more and more people lack the spirit of bravery and insistence. They have lost confidence in difficulties, just wanted to give up,instead of trying to overcome the difficulties. In the story,Santiago is the symbol of those who will never give in to the difficulties no matter ho w hard they are.The sharks stands for some resistance, even disasters.Santiago showed his opti mism.Even if he just caught a fish born,he still a winner in spirit. That was what we should learn from the old man.In life, everyone will encounter a variety of failures, however, only we don't throw in the towel and have the courage to fight against the fate and the difficulties and ultimately will be successful.。

A Book Report About the Old Man and the Sea
A Book Report About the Old Man and theSeaI first read this book when I was in senior high school. And now I remember it just as well as if I had read it yesterday. the Old Man and the Sea is Hemingway’s most famous work which played a huge part in his winning the 1954 nobel prize for literatur. The book is mainly about an old fishernan almost sixty years old ,when fo to sea and fish alone once to Santiago, a man fishing alone. The old man found a big Malin’s fish which exceeds several times of one's own fishing boat.Although he knows it is very difficult to win he does not give up yet. finally the big fish died and tied to the bow. However, at this time sharks appeared, the elderly and the sharks starting life-and-death struggle. As a result a shark or a big Marlins finished, the old man only brought a bare skeleton of the fish to home .After 84 days later,he caught nothing but a bare skeleton of the fish. As a result ,a shark or a big Marlins finished, the old man only brought a bare skeleton of the fish to home .When I read this book ,the old man’s will toched me deeply. I am subdued by old man's optimistic spirit too. I admire the old man ‘unremitting spirit very much.Though he knows rival's strength is very strong , he never avoided the difficulty. Just because is this kind of spirit, the old fisherman has obtained the victory .The author describs how enormous the fish is,which prove that old fisherman's challenge is big than ordinary. The old fisherman's spirit that makes great efforts to struggle with danger and difficulty. Seeing us again, when we meet some little difficulties at ordinary times , all of us complain bitterly. We should learn from the old man.We should teak the optimistic attitude like the old man and shouldn’t worry about petty gain or loss .We are the future of the motherland, and should be as ambitious as this old man, never give up pursueing greater goal.In life, some losses are unavoidable. Not afraid of the difficulty couldachieve success .We can' t be satisfied with the current situation and when we meet difficulty ,we musn’t give up halfway.Only in this way, we could obtain greater success and victory .Humanity is a powerful, human beings have their own limits, but the old man challenge the limits again and again. regardless of the result ,the od man’s persistence was worthy of our respect. Because he gives show us how noblet he human self-confidence could be.Who is the winner? The shark in the winner, because it finishes the Marlins.but in my eyes, the old man is the winner . because despite his big win over the Marlins, the Marlins eventually was eat by big sharks and the old man just brought a bare skeleton of the fish back to shore, that is to say, the shark is the winner. However, in the eyes of the idealists,The old man is the winner because he has not been compromise and surrender to the Marlins and sharks. As the master said, "I can be destroyed, but I can not be conquered."Life itself is an endless pursuit. It is the road long, difficult and full of ups and downs but as long as he has a brave heart to meet the challenges of self-confidence, he will always be a real winner!。

BookReviewofTheOldManAndTheSea(老人与海读书报告英文)
BookReviewofTheOldManAndTheSea(老人与海读书报告英文)Book Review of The Old Man And The Sea“Man is not made for defeat, a man can be destroyed but not defeated.” Said the old man, when he was confronted with a life-and-death fight. I was totally shocked and impressed by his persistence and courage. The old experienced fisherman, Santiago, had set sail in vain for 84 days without catching a single fish. He was regarded as a total loser by other fisherman, so the boy whom he was with at first left him, following his parents’ order. The old fisherman was then all alone floating in the vast ocean. But he wasn’t defeated by the disappointment and misfortune. On the contrary, He still believed firmly in himself that his bad luck would soon come to an end. On the very next day, the huge marlin showed up like it was meant to be, with its extreme strength, dragging the old man’s boat round and round against the old man’s pulling. Exhausted but determined, the code hero never gave up and finally win the marlin. However, on his way home, a group of sharks followed the smell of blood and chased after him. Soon a fierce fight putting up between the man and sharks, he had sworn to stop until he pilled the last drop of his blood, using up everything he could reach to defend. Though only the skeleton of the big marlin arrived at the harbour with him, he was admired as a hero by those who had teased at him.Nowhere has the significance of a strong will been so vividly and accurately enlightened as in The Old Man And The Sea. So constantly did the difficulty appeared in his life, but he never blamed fate for his misfortune, instead, we can always findoptimism in the character. No matter what impossible task he was facing, he sticks to his principle: never submit to life. He might be weak in body, but he was mentally strong, which remind me of the quote of Romain Rolland,” There is only one heroism in the world: to see the world as it is and to love it.”He who didn’t ma ke it to bring the whole marlin back shows us the true meaning of success doesn’t necessarily lies in the result but more importantly in one’s spirit. He was admired as a true hero for his perseverance and the power of his strong will.He got nothing in the end, but he conquered the sea that he had used to relied on for living. Life is like the sea in the story, full of ups and downs, and sometimes even downs and downs, from another perspective, this is the only way to a strong spirit, like the saying goes,”what doesn’t kills me makes me stronger.” In my point of view, the images in the novel has many profound symbolic meanings. The marlin represents for the things that we eager to achieve, the sharks are the obstacles lies on the way to accomplish our goals, only with a confident mind to meet the challenges bravely can we obtain moral victory.Undoubtedly, The Old Man And The Sea is Hemingway’s most immortal work. The old man’s precious quality and virtue was revealed perfectly by his description. And the work encourages people around the world to live up and never give up in the face of difficulties.。

No matter when you read this book , you can always get something from it ,besides, you will love the little lovely and childlike boy ,or you will be shocked by the old man’s perseverance during his fight with the big fish.In this novel ,Hemingway builds a poor and old hero called Santiago ,he was a fisherman who was making his own life on fishing. The old man was lonely, he didn’t have wife or child .But what arounded him was a smart boy named Manolin ,he had great compassion towards the old man ,he worshiped him because the old man had told him much about life including fishing skills .The author always emphasize that the old man hadn’t gotten a fish for 84 days, it’s a piece of bad news !I still remember this scene :the boy woke up the old man ,the old man opened his eyes and for a moment he was coming back from a long way away .the boy prepared supper for the old man and brought it to his house .Manolin told the latest news about the old man’s favorite baseball team “the American league”,having been told that the team had loosen their last game ,the old man didn’t feel upset ,because he usually believed in a player named Dimaggio .Maybe we are confused that why the old man loved the player so much ,but from the following chapter we would understand that the player’s father also was a fisherman ! That must be coincidence! There is a paragraph that I think is well written: he dreamed of Africa when he was a boy and the long golden beaches and the white beaches, so white they hurt your eyes, and the high capes and the great brown mountains .I found that the old man had dreamed the lion , beaches for many times ,I wondered why. Why the man usually dreamed about it? Was the old man a African? I surfed the internet and I got the truth: the old man was from a beautiful country called Cuba.He must love his own country so deep that he dreamed about it day after day.I almost have cared much about my hometown Yongchuan! And what I most want to say is that I have gone so far away from it .It’s my carefree home where live my dear dad ,mom ,grandpa, grandma and my little brother .love couldn’t be defeated !When the old man awaked, he came to boy’s home. The boy got up and sent him off.The old man went so far that he could not see other fishermen’s boats. After almost a day, he hooked a big fish which was much bigger than the fish he used to catch. How excited he was!But God would not let the old man get the fish easily .It cost the old man three days to kill the big fish! What more terrible was that both of his hands were cut by the lines very deep. He suffered much from his great pain, which made him feel upset sometime and he thought it would better the boy had gone with him .After he had killed the big fish, he began to go back .Yet there was a kind of shark called Galano, they attacked the big fish for three times, when the old man finally got back to the land, the fish had been damaged badly, so there didn’t any piece of meat left .When the old man back his shack, he slept. He was too tired to hold on !There is one paragraph that make me cry : the boy saw that the old man was breathing and then he saw the old man’s hands and he started to cry .He went out quietly to bring some coffeeand all the way down the road he was crying .I can’t deny my own feeling, I was moved deeply. Difficult didn’t worth a boy’s tears, but love make it !Each of us can’t refuse the love from these people we love, we care about them because they are worth of our care .love don’t mean sympathy, and love is giving and receiving!Hemingway wrote it as the end of the book:the old man was dreaming about the lions .。

介绍老人与海英语作文80词初二全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1The Old Man and the Sea is a Novel by Ernest HemingwayHi, my name is Jamie and I'm going to tell you about this really cool book I read called The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. It's about this old fisherman named Santiago who lives in Cuba and he goes out fishing alone in his little boat every day, but he hasn't caught any fish for like 84 days! That's a really long time. All the other fishermen started feeling bad for him and making fun of him behind his back because he couldn't catch anything. But Santiago didn't let it get him down. He still went out every morning before sunrise to try his luck at catching fish. His friend, a young boy named Manolin, used to go fishing with him but after 40 days of not catching anything, Manolin's parents made him start going out on a more successful boat instead. On the 85th day, Santiago sailed out alone like usual. He went out really far into the Gulf Stream where the biggest fishswim. He put his lines out and finally got a bite from what must have been a massive fish because it took all of his strength just to hold onto the line. Santiago knew it was going to be an epic battle to try and catch this monster fish. For two whole days and nights, Santiago struggled with all his might to pull the fish in towards his skiff. He didn't have any food or water and his hands were getting cut up really bad from the fishing line. At one point, the fish pulled so hard that Santiago was actually dragged out of his boat! But he never gave up and finally, after an intense tug-of-war, he killed the huge fish.It was an incredibly big marlin, longer than his boat even! Santiago had to lash it to the side of his skiff to head back to shore. On the way home, he got attacked by hungry sharks who were attracted by the marlin's blood in the water. Santiago fought them off with anything he could, including a harpoon and his blade, but the sharks took bite after bite of his prized catch until there was nothing left by the time he reached the shore except for the marlin's skeletal remains. When the old man finally made it back to the village, everyone was stunned to see him hauling in just the bare bones of the epic fish he had battled. Santiago was heartbroken that he had nothing to show for his struggle except his shredded handsand clothes. But Manolin was just amazed by his friend's bravery and perseverance. He vowed to start sailing with the old man again. To me, the message of the story is that you can't ever give up, even when the odds seem completely against you. Santiago could have quit at any point but he had too much grit and determination. Even though his prize was destroyed by the sharks in the end, he still won by never surrendering. The old man displayed true strength, not just physical, but mental and spiritual too. That's what made him a hero, at least to me. Heck, I want to be as tough as him when I grow up!So that's my book report on The Old Man and the Sea. I hope I convinced you to read it because it's an amazing story of courage and never saying die. Just wait until you see how Santiago bounces back from his heartbreaking loss. I don't want to spoil the whole thing, but let's just say the old man proves again that winners never quit. Thanks for reading my essay!篇2The Old Man and the Sea - A Book Report"The Old Man and the Sea" is a really cool book by Ernest Hemingway. It's about this old Cuban fisherman named Santiagowho hasn't caught any fish for 84 days straight! That's like almost 3 months of zero fish. The poor guy was super unlucky. But Santiago doesn't give up. He's determined to break his bad luck streak. So he sails out alone in his little fishing skiff way out into the Gulf Stream off the coast of Cuba. And that's when the really intense part happens!Santiago hooks this massive marlin - we're talking a fish that's longer than his boat! Can you imagine fighting a creature that huge all by yourself in the middle of the ocean? I'd be terrified. But not Santiago. He's as tough as nails. For two whole days and nights, Santiago fights the marlin. He doesn't sleep, he barely eats or drinks. It's just him against this gigantic, powerful fish. Santiago gets cuts all over his hands from the fishing line. His face gets burned by the hot sun. Sharks start circling his boat, smelling the marlin's blood. It's insane! Finally, after an epic struggle, Santiago kills the marlin with his harpoon. Yes! He did it! That's when I was cheering out loud reading it. But Santiago's battle isn't over yet. Now he has to lug this marlin that weighs like a thousand pounds back toward shore, tied to the side of his tiny boat. That's when the sharks start attacking the marlin's body. Santiago uses everything he's got - bat, knife, tiller, you name it - to fight off the sharks. But they keep coming back for more. By the time he makes it ashore, there's nothing left but the marlin's skeleton. How devastating after everything Santiago went through! In the end though, even though he came backempty-handed, Santiago shows incredible perseverance, courage, and respect for nature. He's a true hero in my eyes, even if the villagers laugh at his "bad luck." The old man has more grit than anyone. That's why I think "The Old Man and the Sea" is such a powerful book. It shows how tough humans can be when we're determined. Santiago embodies qualities I really admire - strength, humility, never giving up no matter how stacked against you things seem. His struggle is inspiring.I loved reading every single page and living through Santiago's incredible journey with him. The book has lots of longer descriptive parts, but Hemingway's writing style is pretty straightforward and not too complex for young readers like me. There's plenty of intense action and conflict to keep you on the edge of your seat too.So if you're looking for an adventure book about overcoming impossible odds and the resilience of the human spirit, "The Old Man and the Sea" is a classic you've got to read! Santiago's tale has definitely stuck with me. He's like a real-life superhero but in an old guy's body. I'll never forget this story.篇3The Old Man and the Sea - An Epic Tale of PerseveranceHave you ever felt like no matter how hard you tried, the universe was against you? Like you were giving your all but still couldn't catch a break? That's how the old man in Ernest Hemingway's novel "The Old Man and the Sea" felt when he went 84 days without catching a single fish! Can you imagine going over 2 months without any success at your job or hobby? I sure can't!The story takes place in a tiny Cuban fishing village near the Florida Keys. The main character is an old fisherman named Santiago who has gone over 2 months without catching anything. All the young boys are warned by their parents not to go out fishing with him anymore because he is considered "salao" which means the worst form of unlucky. Despite his dry spell, Santiago's friend, a young boy named Manolin, still looksup to him and wishes he could fish with the old man, but Manolin's parents forbid it.Santiago is so poor that he suffers from hunger, wounds from his fishing lines, and loneliness since the young boys no longer accompany him out on his fishing trips. But he never gives up hope or loses his passion for fishing. I really admire his persistence and positive mindset through the toughest of times. Finally, on the 85th day, Santiago sails out alone in his tiny skiff and gets his lucky break when he hooks an extremely large marlin. But this isn't just any ordinary fish - this marlin is larger than his entire boat and putting up an incredible fight! The epic battle between the old man and this monster fish rages on for 3 agonizing days. Santiago has to use every ounce of his experience, strength, and willpower to wear the marlin down while braving rough seas, scorching sun, hunger, injury, and even shark attacks once he finally kills the fish and lashes it to the side of his boat.I was on the edge of my seat reading about Santiago digging so deep and overcoming every obstacle thrown his way in pursuit of this marlin. It's such an inspirational display of human determination and not giving up on your ambitions no matter how impossible the odds. The vivid descriptions makeyou feel like you are right there on the boat fighting the marlin alongside Santiago.Sadly, Santiago's joy is short-lived as sharks are attracted by the marlin's blood and start viciously attacking his hard-earned trophy catch by the time he finally makes it back to shore. All that remains of the marlin is a stripped carcass barely clinging to the boat. Yet even after all that suffering and being so close to realizing his dream catch only to have it stolen, Santiago still maintains a noble dignity and grace about the whole crucible experience. His friend Manolin cries upon seeing the old man's condition after such a colossal ordeal only to return empty handed, but Santiago responds humbly "Shark's minds have not the same scope as a man's mind."The last line about the old man dreaming of the lions he once witnessed on the beaches as a young sailor really stuck with me. Despite being tortured both physically and mentally by this latest fishing journey, the old man still returns to memories of the glory and beauty he has witnessed in the past to give him hope for the future. No matter how many sharks or obstacles try to steal away your dignity and spirit, you must always have the perseverance to carry on and look forward to better days ahead. That's the powerful life lesson I took away from Santiago's tale. The Old Man and the Sea is an inspirational classic that makes you realize how remarkable the human spirit can be when faced with immense adversity and hardship. Santiago's humility, hope, and fortitude despite his "unlucky" streak serve as a timeless example for all of us to keep persisting relentlessly towards our biggest goals and dreams, no matter how large the challenges or how numerous the setbacks. If a poor old man can battle the elements and a giant marlin for days on end, surely we can all dig a little deeper to overcome our own metaphorical "marlins" in life too. Santiago's epic journey and unwavering perseverance left me in awe and determination to always finish what I start, no excuses.篇4The Old Man and the Sea: A Thrilling Tale of PerseveranceHave you ever felt like you were fighting against the world, struggling to achieve something that seemed impossible? That's exactly how the old fisherman in Ernest Hemingway's novel "The Old Man and the Sea" felt as he battled a massive marlin in the Gulf Stream. This book is all about never giving up, no matter how tough things get, and it's pretty awesome! The story starts off with the old man, whose name is Santiago, having gone 84 days without catching a single fish. That's like, forever! All the younger fishermen started calling him "salao" which means "the worst form of unluckiness." Harsh, right? But Santiago didn't let their mean comments get him down. He was determined to prove them all wrong. So one day, Santiago sailed out alone in his little skiff, like he always did. But this time, something amazing happened. He hooked an enormous marlin - we're talking about a fish that was twice the size of his boat! From that moment on, it became an epic battle between the old man and the marlin.Santiago fought that marlin for three whole days and nights. Three days! Can you imagine being in a tiny boat, pulling on that line with all your strength for that long? I get tired just thinking about it. But the old man never stopped. He was tougher than nails.During the fight, Santiago talked to the marlin, showing it respect like you would for a worthy opponent. He admired its strength, its greatness, its dignity. Even though he was trying to kill it, he felt a strange connection to the noble creature. After an unbelievably long struggle, Santiago finally killed the marlin with a harpoon thrust. Victory at last! But hischallenges were far from over. On the long journey back to shore, sharks started attacking the marlin tied to his boat. Santiago used every weapon he could - a clubs, knives, tiller - to fight off the vicious sharks. But by the time he reached land, the sharks had stripped the marlin to just a skeletal carcass. When Santiago finally staggered onto the beach, he had lost his prize marlin, but he had proven his durability, his spirit, his unwavering perseverance against all odds. The people who had mocked him fell silent in amazement at his achievement.I loved this story because it shows that you should never underestimate someone just because they're old or seem weak on the outside. Santiago may have been a poor old man, but he had the heart of a lion and the willpower of a thousand men. He teaches us that with enough courage and tenacity, we can overcome any obstacles in our path. It's a simple story, but it packs such a powerful message about determination, respect for nature and worthy opponents, and the ability to find strength within yourself when everything seems hopeless. Santiago's struggle captures the universal human experience of striving, suffering, and finding triumph through sheer force of will.I think every kid and adult can learn something valuable from "The Old Man and the Sea." It's an unforgettable tale that will inspire you to never give up on your dreams, no matter how big the challenges are. After reading it, you'll want to sail out and catch your own gigantic marlin, metaphorically speaking! So what are you waiting for? Dive into this modern classic and let the old man's perseverance spark your own fighting spirit.篇5The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest HemingwayHave you ever read a book that's so amazing, it sticks with you forever? That's how I feel about "The Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway. It's an incredible story about an old fisherman named Santiago who goes on an epic battle with a massive marlin fish. Even though it's not a very long book, it packs such a powerful punch! The story takes place in a little fishing village near Havana, Cuba. Santiago is this kindly old man who has gone 84 days without catching a single fish. All the young kids make fun of him and call him "salao" which means "the worst form of unluckiness." Even his friend, a young boy named Manolin, isforced to leave Santiago and go work on another boat because Santiago hasn't caught anything in so long. But Santiago doesn't let his horrible luck get him down. He's determined to sail out further than any fisherman has gone before to try his luck. And that's exactly what he does - he sails out alone in his little skiff for two days straight, all the way to the Gulf Stream. On the third day, Santiago finally gets a bite on his line. But it's no ordinary fish - it's a gigantic marlin that is bigger than his entire boat! What happens next is this grueling, back-and-forth battle between the old man and the marlin that lasts for three whole days. Santiago has to use every ounce of his strength, skill and smarts to wear the marlin down while it drags his little boat for dozens of miles.By the time Santiago finally kills the marlin, he is completely exhausted. But his journey isn't over yet - he still has to lash the huge marlin to the side of his boat and make the long journey home. And that's when the real trouble starts. Santiago gets attacked by relentless sharks who begin eating away at his prized catch. Even though he's old and tired, Santiago musters every last bit of energy to fight off the sharks with just a bat and his bare hands. In the end, Santiago makes it back to the shores, but only a torn up skeleton remains of the beautiful marlin he battled so hard for. Despite having nothing to show for his journey except bare bones, Santiago is still proud and at peace with himself. The villagers who had mocked him are amazed, and Manolin is inspired to stay by the old man's side as his apprentice once more. What I love most about this book is how Santiago shows such incredible perseverance, humility and respect for nature, even when everything seems to go against him. He's scarred and beat up, but his unbreakable spirit and faith in himself is truly inspiring. The way Hemingway describes Santiago's struggle in simple yet powerful language makes you feel like you're right there on the boat, going through the same grueling experience.Hemingway does an amazing job with the limited dialogue to make you feel deeply connected to the characters, especially the warm bond between Santiago and Manolin. You really feel their mutual admiration and how much the young boy looks up to the old man's strength and wisdom about the sea. Hemingway makes you care so deeply about this old, unlucky fisherman that you can't help but cheer him on.Even though Santiago doesn't achieve the material success of bringing home his prized catch, he comes away from his battle with the marlin with a profound sense of accomplishment, humility and peace with himself. The marlins skeleton becomes a strange but powerful symbol of the dignity of his struggle. It shows how true success often comes from the journey and the effort itself, not just the final outcome. That message about the importance of perseverance and grace in the face of struggle is why this short novel has become such a classic. While the plot about a fisherman's battle with a marlin may seem simple on the surface, it's actually an incredibly deep and moving story. Hemingway explores so many rich themes about youth versus old age, man versus nature, and what it truly means to succeed or fail in life.I can't recommend this book enough - it's an amazing little read that really makes you think. Whether you're a kid or an adult, "The Old Man and the Sea" is the kind of timeless story that will stick with you forever. Hemingway's beautiful writing and unforgettable characters left me in complete awe. After reading it, I have a whole new appreciation for the quiet dignity of people like Santiago who endure with such resilience and grace. It's a true classic that everyone should experience.篇6The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest HemingwayThe Old Man and the Sea is a really cool book by Ernest Hemingway. It's about this old fisherman named Santiago who hasn't caught any fish for like 84 days straight! That's a super long time to not catch anything. I don't think I could last even a week without catching a fish if I was a fisherman.Anyway, Santiago is really poor and lives in a little shack in a village near the ocean in Cuba. He used to be one of the best fishermen around, but now all the other fishermen kind of make fun of him for not being able to catch anything. That's pretty mean if you ask me. The young kid named Manolin who used to be Santiago's assistant still really believes in him though. Manolin's parents make him go out on a different boat because they don't think the old man can fish good anymore. So after going for almost three months without a single fish, Santiago decides to take his little skiff wayyyy out into the Gulf Stream, which is like really far out into the ocean. He's hoping to find some fish that the other boats closer to shore can't catch. On the 85th day, he finally gets a bite on his line! But it's not justany old fish - it's a massive 18-foot long marlin! This thing is humongous, probably bigger than my whole classroom.Santiago has to hold on for dear life as the marlin tries to drag his skiff all over the ocean. He gets cut up and beat up pretty bad from the marlin's power. It takes him two whole days and nights to finally kill the marlin with just a harpoon and line. By the end, the old man is absolutely exhausted but proud that he took down such an amazing fish.On his way back to the shore, Santiago has to fight off sharks that want to eat his marlin. He tries sticking his knife and harpoon into them, but more and more sharks just keep coming for the marlin's bleeding body dragging behind the skiff. The old man has to use all his strength and smarts, but the sharks just keep eating away at his prize catch.By the time Santiago makes it back to the village, there is basically just the marlin's skeleton left on the rope. He has to go home sad and disappointed that he wasn't able to bring back the full marlin. But Manolin finds him on the beach and helps carry his supplies, just admiring how hard the old man fought against that fish and sharks for so long. The kid tells Santiago that they will fish together once again. To me, this story shows how determined and brave old Santiago is to never give up, no matter how tough things get. He has faith in himself as a fisherman and keeps on trying against the odds. I think that's an awesome message about the importance of resilience and not listening to people who doubt you. The old man's struggles make for a really exciting adventure story too.I can kind of relate to Santiago because I'm not always the best at things either, whether it's school, sports, or whatever. But the old man inspires me to work as hard as I can and not let setbacks keep me down. Just because you're unsuccessful for a while doesn't mean you can't make an amazing comeback like he did with that marlin. The sharks taking most of his catch in the end is sad, but Santiago's journey is still really heroic and impressive to me. I have a lot of respect for the old man!Overall, I think The Old Man and the Sea is a great novel that tells an epic tale of perseverance. The descriptive writing about Santiago's battle with the marlin and sharks at sea is super captivating. You can't help but be in awe of the old man's grit and willpower. It definitely makes me want to read more classic books like this one with deep messages and vivid storytelling. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an inspiring underdog storyabout the human spirit. Just get ready for some intense fishing scenes!。

A Book Report of The Old Man and the SeaThe Old Man and the Sea is a novel written by Ernest Hemingway, an American novelist. The story is set in the 20th century after World War II, which is based on the novel written true story Hemingway himself has experienced.Exactly, it’s a story of an epic struggle between an old, seasoned fisherman and the greatest catch of his life. Leading character Santiago, an aged Cuban fisherman, has set out to sea and returned empty-handed. At first 84 days, he did not even fish one fish. He did not have enough food, and many locals to doubt his fishing technique. Some even laugh at him. So, He decided to go to the sea to fish food and proved that he is a skilled fisherman. On the eight-fifth day of his unlucky streak, Santiago does as promised, sailing his skiff far beyond the island’s shallow coastal waters and venturing into the Gulf Stream. At noon, a big fish, marlin, take the bait that Santiago has placed before. Although the old man expertly hooks the fish, but he cannot pull it in. Instead, the fish begins to pull the boat. He knows perfectly well very difficult to win, but still did not give up. Since then, they began their three-day fighting. The entire time, Santiago, endures constant pain from the fishing line. Eventually, the third day, the fish tires, and Santiago manages to pull the marlin in close enough to kill it with a harpoon thrust. However, things do not go smoothly as he expected. On his way home, he is attacked buy several crowds of shark. Although he kills the sharks in the end, they have devoured the marlin’s precious meat, leaving only skeleton. The old man arrives home before daybreak, and sleeps very deeply. Later on, the old man wakes up and finds the little boy Mandolin staying with him, and decides to go to sea to fish again. In fact, the story contains many different symbols and themes .By reading this book, I was deeply impressed by the old man and what he said “a man can be destroyed but not defeated.” Santiago, though destroyed at the end of the novella, is never defeated. Instead, he emerges as a hero. Santiago’s struggle does not enable him to change man’s place in the world. But the struggle somehow enables him to meet his most dignified destiny. The old man sets a good example for us. He teachers us that weshould fight and never lose faith, never give up. No matter how hard the life is, it’s possible for us to overcome the difficulties.简介The Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingway's most enduring works.Told in language of great simplicity and power,it is the story of an old Cuban fisherman, down on his luck, and his supreme ordeal——a relentless, agonizing battle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. Here Hemingway recasts,in strikingly contemporary style, the classic thene of courage in the face of defeat,of personal triumph won from los.Written in 1952,this hugely successfully novella confirmed his power and presence in the literary world and played a huge part in hiswinning the 1954 Nobel Prize for Literature.Ernest HemingwayThe Old Man and the Sea may very well become one of the true classics of this generation. Certainly, the qualities of Ernest Hemingway's short novel are those which we associate with many great stories of the past: near perfection of form within the limitations of its subject matter, restraint of treatment, regard for the unities of time and place, and evocative simplicity of style. Also, like most great stories, it can be read on more than one level of meaning. On one it is an exciting but tragic adventure story. Sustained by the pride of his calling, the only pride he has left, a broken old fisherman ventures far out into the Gulf Stream and there hooks the biggest marlin ever seen in those waters. Then, alone and exhausted by his struggle to harpoon the giant fish, he is forced into a losing battle with marauding sharks; they leave him nothing but the skeleton of his catch. On another level the book is a fable of the unconquerable spirit of man, a creature capable of snatching spiritual victory from circumstances of disaster and material defeat. On still another it is a parable of religious significance, its theme supported by the writer's unobtrusive handling of Christian symbols and metaphors. Like Coleridge's Ancient Mariner, Hemingway's Cuban fisherman is a character allowing the imagination of his creator to operate simultaneously in two different worlds of meaning and value, the one real and dramatic, the other moral and devotionally symbolic.老人与海〔美〕海明威? 杨枕旦译注《老人与海》完全可能成为当代一部名副其实的经典作品。
海明威的《老人与海》梗概BookSummary
海明威的《老人与海》梗概BookSummaryBookmark this pageFor 84 days, the old fisherman Santiago has caught nothing. Alone, impoverished, and facing his own mortality, Santiago is now considered unlucky. So Manolin (Santiago's fishing partner until recently and the young man Santiago has taught since the age of five) has been constrained by his parents to fish in another, more productive boat. Every evening, though, when Santiago again returns empty-handed, Manolin helps carry home the old man's equipment, keeps him company, and brings him food.On the morning of the 85th day, Santiago sets out before dawn on a three-day odyssey that takes him far out to sea. In search of an epic catch, he eventually does snag a marlin of epic proportions, enduring tremendous hardship to land the great fish. He straps the marlin along the length of his skiff and heads for home, hardly believing his own victory. Within an hour, a mako shark attacks the marlin, tearing away a great hunk of its flesh and mutilating Santiago's prize. Santiago fights the mako, enduring great suffering, and eventually kills it with his harpoon, which he loses in the struggle. The great tear in the marlin's flesh releases the fish's blood and scent into the water, attracting packs of shovel-nosed sharks. With whatever equipment remains on board, Santiago repeatedly fights off the packs of these scavengers, enduring exhaustion and great physical pain, even tearing something in his chest. Eventually, the sharks pick the marlin clean. Defeated, Santiago reaches shore and beaches the skiff. Alone in the dark, he looks back at the marlin's skeleton in the reflection from a street light and then stumbles home to his shack, falling face down onto hiscot in exhaustion. The next morning, Manolin finds Santiago in his hut and cries over the old man's injuries. Manolin fetches coffee and hears from the other fisherman what he had already seen — that the marlin's skeleton lashed to the skiff is eighteen feet long, the greatest fish the village has known. Manolin sits with Santiago until he awakes and then gives the old man some coffee. The old man tells Manolin that he was beaten. But Manolin reassures him that the great fish didn't beat him and that they will fish together again, that luck doesn't matter, and that the old man still has much to teach him. That afternoon, some tourists see the marlin's skeleton waiting to go out with the tide and ask a waiter what it is. Trying to explain what happened to the marlin, the waiter replies, "Eshark." But the tourists misunderstand and assume that's what the skeleton is.Back in his shack, with Manolin sitting beside him, Santiago sleeps again and dreams of the young lions he had seen along the coast of Africa when he was a young man.。

novel is not important, the most important thing is human’s life value, the old man who dared to challenge the limit, beyond it time and time again, what he brings to us is a kind of self-confidence, a strong spiritual r. When I finished reading this book, I felt I was full of courage and strength. No matter how difficult it is, how many thorns and setbacks it has, I believe that only when we are indomitable like the old man being, we will be the winner of life.
The review of the Old Man and the Sea Ernest Hemingway's novel the old man and the sea is a very famous book not in foreign but in China, and you know when we are children, most of us have read it in Chinese. But during last two month, I read this book in its English version. It brought me many different feelings. In eighty-four days without fish, the senior fisherman Santiago finally found a weight more than 1500 pounds of salmon, and began the fight for three day and night, the big fish which was killed by him finally floated on the surface of the water exhausted. But on his way to harbor his fish was attacked by sharks, and finally he only took back to a little fish and a spine. Why didn't Hemingway make the old man win in the end? Santiago's story is not only a symbol of the relationship between human and nature, but also a symbol of the indestructible of all human being. In reality, though he failed, but in spirit, he was a winner, his tenacious fight spirit, showed us the rare and dignity of the people. In everyone’s life, who hasn't experienced a failure? “But man is not made for defeat,” Santiago said. “A man can be destroyed but not defeated.” Victory in the

On the Old Man and The SeaRecent day, I have read an interesting book which written by Ernest Hemingway. It’s the story of an old Cuban fisherman, down on his luck, and his supreme ordeal —a relentless, agonizing battle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. Santiago was an old man who fished alone in a skiff in the Gulf Stream and he had gone eighty-four days now without taking a fish. A boy accompanied the old man to work. The little boy often helped him carry either the coiled lines or the gaff and harpoon and the sail that was furled around the mast. The old man was thin and gaunt with deep wrinkles in the back of his neck. Everything about him was old expect his eyes and they were the same color as the sea and were cheerful and undefeated. The old man no longer dreamed of storms, or of women, or of great fish, or of his wife. He only dreamed of places now and of the lions on the beach. After failed for eighty-four days, Santiago didn’t lose his confidence. He decided to fish next day by himself. A bid fish was took the fish bait. This is a big marlin. The old man felt very happy and he recognized that he defeat the marlin successfully at last. He has fight against the big fish for several days. Gradually, the marlin was worn out. It was bleed out and died. The old man pulled the big fish to the beach, but several sharks were eaten up the marlin on the way. The old man bought a great long white spine back. Other people told him that the marlin was eighteen feet from nose to tail. Fishing such a big fish is an honor. Although the fish was eaten up by shakes, Santiago didn’t lose his confidence. He was still dreamed about the lions.“Man is not made for defeat; a man can be destroyed but not defeated.” The old man said. When one in a dilemma, the most important thing is keep his confidence. We can allow one’s failure, but we can’t allow one’s decadence. Confidence is the fountainhead of success. In this book, the lion is the symbol of strength and young. Although Santiago was old, his heart was thir st for strength and young. He didn’t believe his fate and took a stand against it. The big marlin was eaten up by sharks is a fact, but it didn’t mean that Santiago was fail. He used his behaviors provide that he isa man who never gives up. “Man is not ma de for defeat; a man can be destroyed but not defeated.” In modern time, we need this spirit. With the quickening pace of technological and economic development, our martial life was becoming more and more good, and our mental life was more and more voided. The people surround us was becoming frail in their world. When we faced with difficulties, we may lose our confidence and compromise to he matters. We need this spirit of not to lose heart despite repeated failures to defeat all kinds of difficulties. Wh at’s more, this spirit is good for us to establish the harmonious society. Only in this way, can we build an excellent world.。

The Old Man and the SeaYang LirongNowadays I have read a book called The Old Man and the Sea. This novel written by Hemingway told us a story about an old man whose name is Santiago. It was one of Hemingway’s most famous novels and helped Hemingway made great achievement in his literature career. What’s more, this book was published by YILIN PRESS in April 1, 2007.The hero of The Old Man and the Sea was a senior fisherman who called Santiago. He was ordinary but brave and great. Whatever the weather, he had to fish to make a living. His life was very hard, but he never gave up. Santiago faced his life positively and lived well by himself. Fortunately, he was not lonely because of the company of a little boy. The cute boy’s name was Manolin. In Manolin’s heart, this old fisherman was not only a hero, but also his idol. He treated Santiago very well and often helped him. Though Manolin’s parents prevented him staying with Santiago, this little boy didn’t do this. He still chose to accompany and learn from the senior fisherman, who was a hero in his eyes. He believed that Santiago was a good fisherman and he could obtain some knowledge from him.I think that we should also learn from Santiago due to his great spirit. Although he was very poor, he was still confident enough to overcome all the difficulties in his life. His body was weak, but his mind was strong. For about 84 days, Santiago hadn’t got any fishes. However, he didn’t stop trying. He just made good preparation and set out in the 85th day. Through the 3-day fight, the old fisherman got the first fish in those 88 days. It was a big marlin fish. Seeing it, Santiago was quite tired out but also excited. Unexpectedly, after he made the big marlin fish surrender, he met across some big and fierce sharks. Those sharks wanted to eat the big marlin fish too. Certainly, Santiago wouldn’t allow it happen. Facing those terrible sharks, Santiago wasn’t afraid. He fought against them bravely. Finally, those sharks ate the meat of the big marlin fish, just leaving the bone of the big marlin fish to the old man.Maybe someone would regard Santiago as a loser, but from my point of view,Santiago didn’t lose. He was a hero and his spirit would exit in people’s heart forever.Nowadays, more and more people lack the spirit of bravery and insistence. That was what we should learn from the old man. Santiago was quite aware of the trouble he would get into. He just tried his best to solve it, though. So, in fact, he was a real winner. We ought to set the senior fisherman as an example. Santiago was worthy to be learned by Manolin. The little boy’s choice was right and sensible. As far as I am concerned, whatever and whenever difficulty we may come across, we shouldn’t be scared. First, we ought to calm down and be confident and rational to face it. Second, trying our best to find the appropriate way to settle the problem is very important. Third, whatever the result will be, we just work hard to realize it as possible, or we may regret. Only in this way, can we succeed and make more achievements in the future.。

The Old Man and the Sea
The Old Man and the Sea is a novel written by Ernest Hemingway in Cuba in 1951 and published in 1952, and five million copies of the magazine were sold in two days. It was one of Hemingway’s most famous works. The story is happened in mid-20th century in Cuba, the main character is Santiago who is an old Cuban fisherman. Hemingway writes the novel in third person. The Old Man and the Sea also became a Book-of-the Month selection, and made Hemingway a celebrity.
Hemingway told the story in a simple, brittle way. In the story, the main character, Santiago, surpasses many hardships for getting respect and being successful. Hemingway pays great attention to the skills that Santiago uses in coping with the giant marlin.
It began by describing that the fisherman, who is named Santiago, has gone 84 days without catching any fish. Many people in the village think that he can no longer fish. And his apprentice, a young man named Manolin, has gone to work for another boat. On the eighty-fifth day, the fisherman sets out into the open sea and goes a little further because he wants to catch a fish. At noon, a big Marlin takes hold of on the line, but the fish is too big for him to handle. Santiago and his boat are dragged out to sea for one day and two nights, what’s worse, the old man bears the tension of the line on his body. Though he is wounded by the marlin, Santiago does not give up for the adversary, finally, the enormous fish grows tired; and Santiago kills it. But Santiago is a still far out from sea, he drags the Marlin behind the boat and the blood from the dead fish attracts sharks.
Santiago does his best to beat the sharks away, but he is almost exhausted. The sharks eat the meat of the Marlin, and Santiago is left with only the bones. Santiago gets back to shore tiredly; the only thing he can show is the bones of the large Marlin. Once home, he goes to bed and falls into a deep sleep. Manolin, worried about the old man, finding him sleeping. When the old man wakes, they promise to fish together once again.Even with just the bone remains of the fish, the experience has changed him; he wins the respect of his village.
From the story we can find that there is a unique relationship between Santiago and Manolin. The old man is seen with the boy at the beginning and at the end. The old man teaches Manolin about fishing and life, and makes the boy feel mature and responsible. The boy is the companion of the man, takes care of the man and gives the man hope. Without him, Santiago will feel lonelier and hopeless.
The story is so touching and powerful. What makes me feel expression is when he killed the shark that hit his fish, he said to himself, “man is not made for defeat, a man can be destroyed but not defeated.” In the end the old man’s perseverance and faith makes him success. He finally gains the respect of the village. Through Santiago teaches us about bravery and faithful in the face of adversity, we can also learn that even when all is lost and seems hopeless, a faith and willful heart will overcome anything. We should be positive and not give up halfway to meeting difficulty. Only in this way, we could obtain greater success and victory.。
