进展报告英语作文Progress is an essential aspect of human existence as it drives us to constantly improve and evolve. Whether it's in our personal lives, our careers, or the world around us, the desire to make progress and achieve greater things is a fundamental part of the human experience. In this progress report, I will explore the various ways in which progress manifests itself and the importance of continually striving for advancement. One of the most significant areas of progress is in the realm of technology. Over the past few decades, we have witnessed an unprecedented rate of technological innovation that has transformed the way we live, work, and communicate. From the advent of the internet and the widespread adoption of smartphones to the development of artificial intelligence and renewable energy sources, technology has been a driving force behind much of the progress we have seen in recent years. The impact of technological progress can be seen in every facet of our lives. In the workplace, for example, the integration ofautomation and data analytics has led to increased efficiency, productivity, and cost savings. Employees are now able to work more collaboratively and access information more quickly, allowing them to make more informed decisions and deliver better results.Similarly, the advancements in medical technology have had a profound impact on our health and well-being. The development of new drugs, diagnostic tools, and surgical techniques has not only improved the quality of healthcare but has also extended the lifespan of individuals around the world. The ability to detect and treat diseases at earlier stages has been a game-changer, and the ongoing research and development in this field promise even greater breakthroughs in the future.Another area of progress that deserves attention is the ongoing efforts to address global challenges such as climate change, poverty, and inequality. While progress in these areas has been slower and more complex, there are signs of positive change. Governments, businesses, and civil society organizations are increasingly collaborating to develop and implement sustainable solutions that address these pressing issues. For example, the adoption of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, has been steadily increasing around the world, as countries and communities recognize the need to transition awayfrom fossil fuels and reduce their carbon footprint. Similarly, initiatives to alleviate poverty and promote economic development in underprivileged regions have led to significant improvements in the standard of living for millions of people. While the progress in addressing global challenges is often incremental and fraught with setbacks, the collective efforts of individuals, organizations, and governments are slowly but surely making a difference. The key is to maintain a sense of optimism and a commitment to continuous improvement, even in the face of daunting obstacles. In our personal lives, progress can take on a more individual form, as we strive to achieve our own goals and aspirations. Whether it's pursuing a new career, learning a new skill, or improving our physical and mental well-being, the drive to make progress is a fundamental part of the human experience. When we set our sights on a particular goal and work diligently to achieve it, we not only experience a sense of personal growth and accomplishment but also inspire others around us to do the same. The act of progress, in and of itself, can be a powerful catalyst for change, as it demonstrates the potential that lies within each of us.Of course, progress is not always linear or easy to achieve. There willinevitably be setbacks, challenges, and unexpected obstacles along the way. But it is in these moments of adversity that we have the opportunity to demonstrate our resilience, our creativity, and our determination to overcome.By embracing a growth mindset and a willingness to adapt and learn, we can transform these setbacks into opportunities for growth and progress. Each challenge we face, each obstacle we overcome, and each new skill we acquire, brings us one step closer to realizing our full potential. In conclusion, progress is a multifaceted and ever-evolving concept that touches every aspect of our lives. Whether it's in the realm of technology, global challenges, or our personal aspirations, the drive to make progress is a fundamental part of the human experience. By maintaining a positive outlook, a commitment to continuous improvement, and a willingness to adapt and learn, we can all play a role in shaping a better future for ourselves and for the world around us.。

DEVELOPMENT REPORT - Tools for Development
DEVELOPMENT REPORT – July 29, 2002: Tools for DevelopmentBy Jill MossThis is the VOA Special English Development Report. Building things or making clothes can be difficult in developing countries, especially without the correct tools. However, an international humanitarian organization called CARE is trying to change this. CARE runs a special program called Tools for Development to help workers in developing countries. The Tools for Development program sells used tools and equipment at low cost to people who have small businesses. The tools are priced low enough so that poor people can buy them.Roy Megarry (Ma-GARY) started Tools for Development fifteen years ago. At thetime, he was the publisher of the Globe and Mail, a Canadian newspaper. MisterMegarry got the idea for the program while visiting a technical training school forboys in Lima, Peru. The Catholic priest who operated the school told Mister Megarry that the schoolneeded equipment for its training program. Mister Megarry sent a letter to thepresident of Sears Company in Canada requesting help. The company gaveequipment to the school in exchange for advertising in the newspaper. Today, Tools for Development receives free equipment and gifts from companies and organizations all over the world. Since the program began, more than two -thousand people have purchased more than six-thousand tools andequipment. They paid a total cost of one -million -two-hundred-thousand dollars. Mister Megarry says at least ten-thousand jobs have been saved or created because of the program. Money gained from the sale of the tools is used for loans, training and shipping costs.People can buy many kinds of equipment through Tools for Development. For example, there are tools for metal workers, shoemakers, pipe builders, clothing makers and people who fix vehicles. Some computers are also sold. Tools for Development is currently operating in Ecuador, Costa Rica and Jamaica. However, CARE is hoping to expand the program to other developing nations. DEVELOPMENT REPORT - U.N. Report Warns of Risk to Goal to Cut Poverty by 2015
DEVELOPMENT REPORT - U.N. Report Warns of Risk to Goal to Cut Poverty by 2015By Jill MossBroadcast: Monday, September 12, 2005I'm Barbara Klein with the VOA Special English Development Report. The United Nations has released its two thousand five Human Development Report. The report shows that eighteen countries have moved down the list in terms of conditions for their people. Twelve are in central and southern Africa. The others are former Soviet republics. But the U.N. report says many other nations have made progress. It says people in developing countries are generally healthier, wealthier and better educated than they were fifteen years ago. And they are also more likely to live in a democratic system. The report says one hundred thirty million people escaped extreme poverty during the nineteen nineties. And more than one thousand million gained access to clean water. But the study says two and one-half thousand million people still live on less than two dollars a day. And around half as many still do not have safe water. The U.N. Development Program has published the yearly report sincenineteen ninety. This year's came out last week. Later this week is the WorldSummit in New York. Leaders will mark the sixtieth anniversary of the UnitedNations. They also will discuss progress over the past five years toward theU.N.'s Millennium Development Goals. One goal is to cut the number of people living in extreme poverty by fiftypercent by two thousand fifteen. Other goals are to reduce child deaths bytwo-thirds and to provide basic education for all children in the next ten years. The new Human Development Report warns that the goals are at risk. It says that without more money for development, there will be millions of deaths that could have been prevented. And, it says, more than eight hundred million people will still be living in extreme poverty. The number is almost four hundred million higher than the target for two thousand fifteen. The U.N. report says developing nations must seek investment and fight dishonesty. But it says economic growth alone will not help most countries reach the goal to reduce poverty. It says they must also fight social inequalities and respect human rights. Finally, the report calls for major changes to international policies on aid, trade and security. It United Nationssays the world has the resources to end poverty, but must also have the political will. This VOA Special English Development Report was written by Jill Moss. DEVELOPMENT REPORT - Mental Health in Developing Nations
DEVELOPMENT REPORT - Mental Health in Developing NationsBy Jill MossBroadcast: June 14, 2004This is Robert Cohen with the VOA Special English Development Report.A study has found that most people with severe mental health problems go untreated in developing countries. The World Health Organization says between seventy-five and eighty-five percent had no treatment within the past year. In developed nations, between thirty-five and fifty percent went untreated. The Journal of the American Medical Association published the findings. Ronald Kessler of Harvard University and Bedirhan Ustun of the W.H.O. led the study. They examined the results of questions asked of more than sixty-thousand adults in fourteen countries. The most developed nations were Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain and the United States. The less developed ones were Columbia, China, Lebanon, Mexico, Nigeria and Ukraine. Researchers gathered the information between two-thousand-one and two-thousand-three. They asked the same questions in every interview. They wanted to estimate how many people have mental disorders, and what kind. They also wanted to learn what treatment, if any, the people had received within the past year. The problems considered included nervous anxiety and uncontrolled anger. Others were such things as eating disorders and disorders related to the use of alcohol and illegal drugs. The percentage of people who said they had a mental disorder differed greatly from country to country. The researchers found that for most countries the rate was between nine and twenty percent. The United States had the highest, at twenty-six percent of those questioned. The Chinese city of Shanghai had the lowest, at four percent. The researchers say they believe this difference shows how mental health is seen differently around the world. They say people in many non-Western countries are often less likely to admit they have problems. In almost every country, the more severe a problem was, the more likely it was to be treated. Still, the researchers say many people with minor mental health problems are treated, while many with serious disorders are not. They say this is not simply a problem of limited treatment resources. It also shows that resources are not being used well. The researchers call for new efforts at early intervention. They say early treatment of minor disorders could prevent many serious cases later. 1New Ways for Poor Countries to Diagnose Infectious DiseasesResearchers suggest a substitute for human blood used in tests. And a cell phone microscope can take images of malaria and TB organisms. Transcript of radio broadcast:Monday, August 03, 2009This is the VOA Special English Development Report. Two new discoveries could offer easier ways to identify infectious diseases in developing countries. The first involves sheep. Researchers havefound that hair sheep are a good source ofblood for use in tests to diagnose infectiousdiseases in people. In developed countries, microbiologists dothese tests with blood from wool sheep orhorses. But for developing countries, that costs too much. So tests often use human blood instead. Ellen Yeh from the Stanford UniversitySchool of Medicine in California was one of the authors of the study. She explains the problems with using human blood.ELLEN YEH: "First off, there is the infectious disease risk because if you use human blood there's a lot of transmissible diseases. In particular , in Africa, you'd be worried about things like H.I.V . The other big problem with using human blood for making these blood agar plates is that they're actually not accurate."Red Maasai hair sheep, native to East Africa, in a photo from theInternational Livestock Research InstituteDoctor Yeh says tests with human blood can produce the wrong results, so they are not dependable. The study found that blood from hair sheep is an excellent substitute. It produced the same results as tests using wool sheep and horses. Also, hair sheep require less care than wool sheep. They could better handle hot, dry climates because they do not have a lot of wool. It also means they do not need to be sheared.ELLEN YEH: "Having to shear the sheep for wool is actually very costly and labor intensive. The other advantages of hair sheep include that it's more resistant to parasites, so they're less prone to infection."The scientists also tested an easier, cheaper way to prepare and process the blood. They found this new method effective. The blood can be collected directly into bags, much like with human donors. The study appeared last month in the online journal PLoS One, from the Public Library of Science. The same journal also published a report in July on an experimental device called the CellScope. The CellScope is a cell phone microscope. Engineers at the University of California, Berkeley, developed it.They attached small microscope lenses to a holder fitted to a mobile phone. The phone's camera was able to take color images of malaria parasites and tuberculosis bacteria in blood and sputum. The team used a special dye and special lighting to make the images bright. The pictures could also be sent wirelessly to distant experts for diagnosis.Dan Fletcher heads the team that developed the CellScope. He notes that many poor areas of the world have few hospitals, yetVOA Special English2have mobile phone networks that are well developed. And that's the VOA Special English Development Report, written by June Simms. 1In Developing World, Health Services May Be Just a Phone Call AwayMonday, May 03, 2010This is the VOA Special English Development Report.Sending and receiving money by text message. Sharing crop prices. Just talking to a loved one far from home. These are some of the ways that mobile phones have changed lives in developing countries. Another way is through e-health, electronic health services. One example is a telephone hotline in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Callers can receive information about family planning and the prevention of unwanted pregnancies. They are able to speak privately with trained operators about contraceptive methods andabout health clinics.Photo: APMicheline Kapinga makes a call on a cell phone in the village of Kamponde in central CongoThe nonprofit group Population Services International and its partner Association de Sante Familiale launched the service in two thousand five. The United States Agency for International Development finances the program. And an agreement with the Vodacom company makes the service free to callers. We talked with Jamaica Corker, on her cell phone, at the Population Services International office in the D.R.C.JAMAICA CORKER: "The hotline has given us an opportunity to take advantage of cell phone technology, to reach people outside of our intervention zone with family planning messaging. In a country the size of western Europe, we can't be everywhere at the same time, and the hotline allows them to call in no matter where they are and to ask us the information that we can provide -- even if we're not necessarily able to provide the services directly."Jamaica Corker says more than twenty thousand people called the hotline in two thousand eight, the latest year available. More than eighty percent were men. She says this is mainly because men own most of the phones. The group also has family planning hotlines in Benin and Pakistan. And it is launching a mobile phone program to gather records on condom sales around Tanzania. The journal Health Affairs recently published an issue on "E-Health in the Developing World." Editor Susan Dentzer says e-health is improving lives in different ways.SUSAN DENTZER: "For example in Rwanda, where cellphone-based technologies are being used to keep track of dispensation of drugs to patients with H.I.V. And Rwanda is actually at the leading edge of developing nations in tapping these technologies to advance health and health care."In South Africa, a campaign of text messages about H.I.V. led to aVOA Special English2large increase in calls to the national AIDS helpline. The Human Development Report is an annual publication by the United Nations Development Programme that provides a comprehensive analysis of global human development trends. The report measures human development by focusing on three key areas: health, education, and income. In this summary, we will highlight some of the key findings from the latest Human Development Report.Health is a fundamental aspect of human development, and the report examines various indicators such as life expectancy, infant mortality rates, and access to healthcare. One of the key findings from the latest report is that life expectancy has been increasing steadily in most regions of the world, thanks to advancements in healthcare and improvements in living standards. However, there are still significant disparities in health outcomes between different regions and countries, with manydeveloping countries struggling to provide adequate healthcare services to their populations.Education is another crucial component of human development, and the report looks at indicators such as literacy rates, school enrollment, and educational attainment. The report finds that progress has been made in expanding access to education, with more children enrolling in school than ever before. However, there are still significant challenges in ensuring quality education for all, particularly in developing countries where resources are limited and infrastructure is lacking.Income is a key determinant of human development, as it affects people's ability to access basic necessities such as food, shelter, and healthcare. The report examines indicators such as income inequality, poverty rates, and economic growth. One of the key findings from the latest report is that income inequality remains a major issue, with the wealthiest individuals and countries continuing to accumulate wealth at the expense of the poorest. This widening income gap has serious implications for socialcohesion and economic stability. In conclusion, the Human Development Report provides valuable insights into the state of human development around the world. While progress has been made in improving health, education, and income levels, there are still significant challenges that need to be addressed. By focusing on the key areas of health, education, and income, policymakers can work towards creating a more equitable and sustainable future for all.。

In South Africa, a campaign of text messages about H.I.V. led to a large increase in calls to the national AIDS helpline. And a program in Peru sends text messages to patients with H.I.V., reminding them to take their medicines. And that's the VOA Special English Development Report, written by June Simms. DEVELOPMENT REPORT - In Developing World, Health Services May Be Just a Phone Call Away
Broadcast date: 5-3-2010 / Written by June Simms
From /voanews/specialenglish/ This is the VOA Special English Development Report. Sending and receiving money by text message. They are able to speak privately with trained operators about contraceptive methods and about health clinics. The nonprofit group Population Services International and its partner Association de Sante Familiale launched the service in two thousand five. The United States Agency for International Development finances the program. And an agreement with the Vodacom company makes the service free to callers. We talked with Jamaica Corker, on her cell phone, at the Population Services International office in the D.R.C. JAMAICA CORKER: "The hotline has given us an opportunity to take advantage of cell phone technology, to reach people outside of our intervention zone with family planning messaging. In a country the size of western Europe, we can't be everywhere at the same time, and the hotline allows them to call in no matter where they are and to ask us the information that we can provide -- even if we're not necessarily able to provide the services directly." Jamaica Corker says more than twenty thousand people called the hotline in two thousand eight, the latest year available. More than eighty percent were men. She says this is mainly because men own most of the phones. The group also has family planning hotlines in Benin and Pakistan. And it is launching a mobile phone program to gather records on condom sales around Tanzania. The journal Health Affairs recently published an issue on "E-Health in the Developing World." Editor Susan Dentzer says e-health is improving lives in different ways. SUSAN DENTZER: "For example in Rwanda, where cell phone-based technologies are being used to keep track of dispensation of drugs to patients with H.I.V. And Rwanda is actually at the leading edge of developing nations in tapping these technologies to advance health an
