Good afternoon and welcome you all to listening to my presentation. Today, I’m going to do a comparison on the lives of Socrates and Confucius. My presentation have 4parts,as you can see on the screen. Now, I would like to introduce them one by one.
So, first of all, I want to talk about, why we put these two great men together to have a comparison. One of the greatest reason is that both of the two men laid the foundation of Western or Eastern philosophy, and both of them made great contribution to the development of the whole world.
The first part is about their earlier stage.Both Socrates and Confucius were born in about 500BC .Neither of them was extremely high-born, but they certainly were not peasants either. During that time , it is the heyday of Pericles, and Confucius lived in Zhou Dynasty. It is obvious that both of them lived in cultures where hereditary privilege was the main factor in social status. Because of that
