Yuan Longping was born in 1930 in Beijing. His parents wanted him to pursue a career in science or medicine. However, what concerned him most was that farmers often had poor harvests and sometimes even had a serious shortage of food to eat. To tackle this crisis, he chose to study agriculture and received an education at Southwest Agricultural College in Chongqing.

Unit 2 A Pioneer For All People课文原文及解析 造福全人类的先驱者
A PIONEER FOR ALL PEOPLEAlthough he is one of China's most famous scientists, Yuan Longping considers himself a farmer, for he works the land to do his research. Indeed, his sunburnt face and arms and his slim, strong body are just like those of millions of Chinese farmers, for whom he has struggled for the past five decades. Dr Yuan Longping grows what is called super hybrid rice. In 1974, he became the first agricultural pioneer in the world to grow rice that has a high output. This special strain of rice makes it possible to produce one-third more of the crop in the same fields. Now more than 60% of the rice produced in China each year is from this hybrid strain.Born into a poor farmer's family in 1930, Dr Yuan graduated from Southwest Agricultural College in 1953. Since then, finding ways to grow more rice has been his life goal. As a young man, he saw the great need for increasing the rice output. At that time, hunger was a disturbing problem in many parts of the countryside. Dr Yuan searched for a way to increase rice harvests without expanding the area of the fields. In 1950, Chinese farmers could produce only fifty million tons of rice. In a recent harvest, however, nearly two hundred million tons of rice was produced. These increased harvests mean that 22% of the world's people are fed from just 7% of the farmland in China. Dr Yuan is now circulating hisknowledge in India, Vietnam and many other less developed countries to increase their rice harvests. Thanks to his research, the UN has more tools in the battle to rid the world of hunger. Using his hybrid rice, farmers are producing harvests twice as large as before.Dr Yuan is quite satisfied with his life. However, he doesn't care about being famous. He feels it gives him less freedom to do his research. He would much rather keep time for his hobbles. He enjoys listening to violin music, playing mah-jong, swimming and reading. Spending money on himself or leading a comfortable life also means very little to him. Indeed, he believes that a person with too much money has more rather than fewer troubles. He therefore gives millions of yuan to equip others for their research in agriculture.Just dreaming for things, however, costs nothing. Long ago Dr yuan had a dream about rice plants as tall as sorghum. Each ear of rice was as big as an ear of corn and each grain of rice was as huge as a peanut. Dr Yuan awoke from his dream with the hope of producing a kind of rice that could feed more people. Now, many years later, Dr Yuan has another dream: to export his rice so that it can be grown around the globe. One dream is not always enough, especially for a person who loves and cares for his people. Unit 2 A Pioneer For All People造福全人类的先驱者尽管是中国最著名的科学家之一,袁隆平仍然认为自己是个农民,因为他在田里耕作,进行科学研究。

a pioneer for all people的全文翻译翻译:虽然他是中国最著名的科学家之一,袁隆平认为自己是一个农民,因为他作品的土地做他的研究。

a pioneer for all people阅读理解题目
a pioneer for all people阅读理解题目A Pioneer for All PeopleIn the grand tapestry of human history, there have been individuals who have pioneered in their respective fields, bringing about profound changes that have shaped the world we live in today. These trailblazers have pushed boundaries, challenged conventions, and paved the way for progress. Among them, there are some who stand out not only for their exceptional achievements but also for their unwavering commitment to advancing the rights and well-being of all people. In this article, we explore the life and legacy of a true pioneer - a champion for equality, justice, and universal human rights.Born in a small village, our pioneer grew up facing adversity and discrimination. From a young age, they witnessed firsthand the stark inequalities in society and determined to make a difference. Through perseverance, dedication, and a deep-rooted belief in the inherent value of every individual, our pioneer embarked on a journey that would forever change the course of history.Education played a pivotal role in shaping our pioneer's beliefs and aspirations. Armed with knowledge and a burning desire to challenge the status quo, they advocated for equal access to education for all, regardless of gender, race, or social background. Their tireless efforts led to the establishment of schools and educational institutions that provided opportunities to those who were previously marginalized. By empowering individuals through education, our pioneer believed that the path towards social equality and progress could be paved. However, our pioneer's vision extended far beyond education. Recognizing the need for comprehensive social reforms, they fought tirelessly for the rights of workers, women, and minorities. Their advocacy fostered the creation of labor unions, suffrage movements, and civil rights organizations, aiming to dismantle oppressive systems and build a more inclusive and just society. With a strong conviction that every person deserved equal treatment and opportunities, our pioneer tirelessly advocated for systemic reforms and actively worked towards their realization. But our pioneer's work did not stop at national borders; they understood the importance of global solidarity. They tirelessly campaigned for international cooperation, believing that only through mutual understanding and collaboration could the world truly progress. Our pioneer played a crucial role in the formation of international organizations that sought to address global challenges, promote peace, and protect human rights. By bridging divides and fostering dialogue, they laid the foundation for a more united and compassionate world. The impact of our pioneer's efforts continues to be felt today. Their dedication and unwavering commitment to equality have inspired generations of activists, scholars, and leaders. The movements they spearheaded remain powerful forces of change, shaping policies, legislation, and societal norms. Their legacy is not confined to a specific field or region but resonates with people from all walks of life. Our pioneer's vision and principles serve as guiding lights, reminding us of the imperative to strive for a more just and equitable world. In conclusion, our pioneer was more than just an innovator or a leader. As we reflect on their life and legacy, let us be inspired to carry their torch forward, ensuring that their vision of a more inclusive and compassionate world becomes a reality for all people.。

A Pioneer for All People
Although he is one of China`s most famous scientist, Yuan Longping considers himself a farmer, for he works the land to do his research.
Now more than 60% of the rice produced in China each year is from this hybrid strain.

Born into a poor farmer`s family in 1930, Dr Yuan graduated from Southwest Agricultural College in 1953.
Since then, finding ways to grow more rice has been his life goal.
As a young man, he saw the great need for increasing the rice output.
At that time, hunger was a disturbing problem in many parts of the countryside.
Dr Yuan searched for a way to increase rice harvest without expanding the area of the fields.
In 1950, Chinese farmers could produce only fifty million toms of rice. In a recent harvest, however, nearly two hundred million tons of rice was produced.
These increased harvests mean that 22% of the world`s people are fed from just 7% of the farmland in China.
Dr Yuan is now circulating his knowledge in India, Vietnam and many other less developed countries to increase their rice harvest.
Thanks to his research, the UN has more tools in the battle to rid the world of hunger.
Using his hybrid rice, farmers are producing harvests twice as long as before.

Dr Yuan is quite satisfied with his life. However, he doesn`t care about being famous.
He feels it gives him less freedom to do his research.
He would much rather keep time for his hobbies.
He enjoys listening to violin music, playing mah-jong, swimming and reading.
Spending money on himself or leading a comfortable life also means very little to him.
Indeed, he believes that a person with too much money has more rather than fewer troubles.
He therefore gives millions of Yuan to equip others for their research in agriculture.

Just dreaming for things, however, cost nothing.
Long ago Dr Yuan had a dream about rice plants as tall as sorghum. Each ear of rice
of rice was as huge as a peanut.
Dr Yuan awoke from his dream with the hope of producing a kind of rice that could feed more people.
Now, many years later, Dr Yuan has another dream: to export his rice so that it can be grown around the globe.
One dream is not always enough, especially for a person who loves and cares for his people.。
