AIn 1959, when Jean Harper was in the third grade, her teacher gave the class an assignment to write a report on what they wanted to be when they grew up.Jean’s father was a crop dusting pilot in the little farming community in Northern California where she was raised, and Jean was very interested in airplanes and flying. She poured her heart into her report and included all of her dreams. She wanted to be a crop dusting pilot, make parachute jumps(跳伞), and be an airline pilot. Her paper came back with an "F" on it. The teacher told her it was a "fairy tale" and that none of the occupations she listed were women’s jobs. Jean was devastated and humiliated. One day in her senior year of high school, her English teacher Mrs Dorothy Slaton gave the class an assignment. "If you had unlimited money, unlimited access to the finest schools, and unlimited talents and abilities, what would you do?" Jean felt a rush of her old enthusiasm, and with excitement she wrote down all her old dreams. The teacher leaned forward over her desk and said, "You do have unlimited abilities and talents. When you leave school, if you don’t go for your dreams, no one will do it for you. You can have what you want if you want it enough."The hurt and fear of years of discouragement went away because of what Mrs Slaton had said. Jean felt excited and a little scared. She stayed after class and went up to the teacher’s desk. Jean thanked Mrs Slaton and told her about her dream ofbecoming a pilot. Mrs Slaton half rose and slapped the desk top. "Then do it!" she said.So Jean did. It didn’t happen overnight. It took her 10 years of hard work. It wasn’t in Jean’s nature to stand up for herself w hen someone refused or humiliated her. Ⅰ.阅读理解阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
When the natural climate changes due to global warming, it can surely affect seals. The majority of them live in the Antarctic region, so as the ice is melting, their natural habitat can be seriously affected. These changes don't take place overnight. They can be the result of many years of additional temperatures in the area. Seals then have to find ways to adapt.Seals depend on the cool air currents to bring plenty of food for them. When the temperatures get higher, there is less and less food and the seal population starts to shrink. Mothers aren't healthy enough to feed their babies. Many of them end up abandoned as their mothers have to leave to find their own source of food. The fact that their desire to produce young can be changed by the warmer temperatures is frightening too. It is also believed that the warmer temperatures can allow different diseases and viruses to attack seals. This is a huge concern as they can rapidly wipe out huge numbers of seals out there. However, these changes in climate and temperature aren't all bad for other species of seals. Scientists have found that those living in warmer climates are producing more young due to the changes. Research also shows that the females are moving further to find food and water. When they are out of the reach of the governing males, they are more willing to accept the moves of other males in the group. This is good news too because it means that there will be more selection in the genepool(基因库)for future generations. It can help seals as a species adapt to change in their natural environment more easily. The climate change problem for seals is directly linked to humans. When we take action to change what we let out into the environment, we will make positive changes for seals. However, it is going to take a very long time to reverse (彻底改变)the effects of what has already been done.1.What does the author regard climate change for seals as?A.A double-edged sword.B.An unavoidable disaster for existence.C.A mirror of evolution.D.A requirement for more choices in the gene pool.2.What will happen to the seals in warmer climates?A.Their number will be on the increase.B.The female seals will be in the lead.C.Their genes will change a great deal.D.The females will keep away from the males.3.Which of the following can be the best title for the text?A.The Importance of Protecting SealsB.Seals' Adaptation to Climate ChangeC.How Climate Change Affects SealsD.Why Seals Are Becoming Less and Less答案[语篇解读] 本文是一篇说明文。

因此,温度的变化对海豹有好处也有坏处。
2.A 推理判断题。
根据文章第四段中的“Scientists have found that those living in warmer climates are producing more young due to the changes.”
