My English LearningI’d like to share some thoughts and problems of my English learning recently, and I’ll appreciate so much if some of you can give me some advices.In recent days, I’m trying to study professional English in my leisure time which is important to the future study and work. But I find it’s not so interesting. Some professional words are so long for me to remember and a lot of articles are so obscure for me to understand. I can’t fully understand the whole meaning. My self-confidence gets hurt. Sometimes I’ll be distracted by some temptations around, I can’t concentrate on what I’m reading. That problems bother me. So I try my best to overcome the difficulties. I attempt to make it a habit to learn professional English.As the saying goes you can form a good habit in twenty days. I’m afraid I can’t insist for twenty days. I tried my best to carry on. I forced myself on the books and specialized dictionary. And also in my leisure time I tried my best to recite the professional words which are so obscure for me. But the result is not so ideal. Then I realized I always ignored the most important thing-- interest, interest is the best teacher. Though it is invisible, the power of it is huge. But there is a question—how to cultivate the interest.I plan to do it from watching TV plays. Watching TV plays about medical is the most simple way to contact English about medical. I’vechoose two plays to watch--<House M.D>and<Grey's Anatomy>. I don’t know the way is good or not. But it worths to try to learn medical English well. At the same time, I always need to improve my professional level, that will be helpful for me to study professional English. I know, to enhance my professional level I must enhance my English level. The two are complementary to each other.I don’t have any other good methods, if any of you have, can you give me some advices ? We can share and urge with each other.That’s all, thank you!。

我的名字已经打在PPT上面了，但还是容我自我介绍一下吧，我是廖伟超，现在就读于南京大学历史学系，一个历史系的学生来讲英语，有点诡异哄，我的同学就有吐槽我说：“一个语文课代表跑去读历史然后回来给学弟学妹们讲英语。
”嗯嗯，讲了点不好笑的笑话哈~今天要讲的主要内容就是PPT上副标题的这个了，我会分6点来讲，其中前面5点是原则部分的内容，最后一点才是建议。
首先我想强调一下，我知道今天很多同学过来都是为了讨教学长学姐的学习方法，当然，更确切地说，你们是来讨教学习技巧的。
技巧和方法的区别在哪里？技巧就是我最后一点要讲的，它杂而零散，也许某种程度上能够帮到你，但无法从根本上告诉你应该怎样去学习。
大家今天在听其他学长学姐讲学习经验时，别忘了关注他们的表述里渗透着的原则性内容，那些才是最可宝贵的，否则你们就是标准的捡了芝麻丢了西瓜。
好，我们首先来看第一点，Dream!这是一个很好理解的单词，当然这里的Dream肯定不是你们趴在桌子上流哈喇子的那种Dream，这里的Dream解释为梦想。
我把它摆在第一位来讲，因为我觉得它是最重要的，没有之一。
无论是从整个的高中学习还是单纯从英语这个科目出发，有没有梦想，敢不敢有梦想，对于你最终能够达到什么样的高度是有决定性的影响的。
我们身边经常可以看到这样的同学，每次碰到所谓的难题，就嚷嚷着：哎呀，这道题不会做，算了，反正我又不考140，我只要上120就好了，不管它了~我相信如果有得选择的话，没有人会不想考得高一点的，对吗？这些同学并不是不想考140，而是缺少那种我非常想考高分，我一定要靠高分的那种热切的心理。
我今天在这里讲梦想的问题，如果具化到英语这个科目上，就是我要考满分，也就是150。
我想先小小地问一下，在座的有同学曾经或一直梦想着英语考满分吗？不是偶尔冒出个念头那种，而是把它当成目标并拼命为之奋斗。

Could you give me some advice?A: Language is s peculiar thing: you can study till the cows come home, yet still be unable to communicate. The main thing is to get the balance between study and practice right. Make sure that what you think you have studied and learned, is applied, or used, both in speech and writing. That way, what you have learned also becomes part of your active repertoire.Q: When I connect internet, is it better to explore the English Websites?A: Exploring the web may be a good ides, but is can take a lot of time and what one finds is of uneven quality. Using search engines to wander around the Web can easily become addictive. And it is very easy to forget the original purpose. I suggest you find one or two sites that seem helpful and stay with them.Q: It might be a silly question to ask, but is there any shortcut for English learning?A: Sorry, but there’re no shortcut. It just takes time, patience and persistence. Each person’s brain is different, meaning someone may take 5 years to master what another can manage in one.(And the slower learner may master geometry or chemistry 5 times faster that the speedy English learner.) Learners should know about the limits and abilities of their brains, and map out a personal study schedule. The schedule should include reading and reviewing texts, plus other books consistent with the skill level of the learner. Besides, you should also set aside time for speaking English with anyone who speaks it. English is not like any other subject. 如果实在没有时间，就是学十分钟也可以。
当然，最好是早晨学；2、如果学习的愿望减弱得很快，这个时候就不要硬来，但也不要丢下。
要另想一种形式：把书放下，去听听广播；把书中的练习暂时搁置一旁，然后翻翻词典；3、千万不要机械地死记硬背，不要离开上下文而孤立地死记硬背词语；4、优先摘记并背诵那些用的场合最多的“现成句子”；5、随时随地地学习。
如一闪而过的广告牌、海报上的字句、偶尔听到的只言片语等与生活相关的内容，把能够翻译的东西都进行默译，这往往是一种休息，对已经疲劳的头脑也是一种休息；6、值得牢记的只有老师改过的东西，不要反复阅读自己写的而没有经过修改的练习。
因为反复阅读那些有可能有错误的东西，就会不知不觉地不断输入错误信息。
记住，如果是一个人学习，就只背诵那些肯定是正确的材料；7、把现成的句子和成语摘抄下来，并用第一人称单数的形式牢牢记住；8、外语就像是一座堡垒，必须从四面八方同时向它进攻才能一举夺得：读报纸，听广播，看原版电影，上外语课，研究教材，同将该语种的人通信和交谈。

10 tips of english learning
1. How do you memorize new words?New words should be mastered in several ways. First, pronunciation, if you want to pronounce the word correctly, you'd better listen to it first and practice it again and again by imitation. Second, spelling, if you want to memorize the word how to spell, you'd better learn some knowledge for word building and pronunciation rules. Third, meaning and use, if you want to know the exact meaning and use of the word, you'd better learn it through context and reading. Finally, you should work hard on it.2. How do you improve your reading?First, look at the title of the passage if there is. You can get the general idea of it. Then you pay attention to the first and last sentence of very paragraph of the passage. You can get the main idea of the paragraph. Third, through the context, you guess the new words that you come across. Finally, note the style and tone in order to the writer's implication in meaning.3. How do you improve your speaking?You can improve your speaking only through practice. Firstly, don't think of too much grammar, when you speak. You try to speak the key words, if you cannot speak the whole sentence, but you must speak the key words clearly and correctly. Secondly, pay attention to the different rhythms between English and Chinese. We Chinese tend to stress the words equally, while the English words in the sentence tend to be stressed quite differently. The words with important information are normally stressed. Lastly, try to use your gestures and your facial expressions to go with your verbal communication.4. How do you learn English grammar?The purpose of learning grammar is to help learners to have a better understanding of the language. It is no use remembering grammar rules by rote because there are no rules without exceptions. It is sensible to use English grammar as a tool to help you to understand and master English. You learn grammar only through language phenomena because it comes from it. So you learn those rules and do some exercises to practise them.5. How do you improve your listening?You can improve your listening only through listening a great deal and there is no shortcut. First, you should have the right pronunciation of the words in your mind so learn to pronounce them correctly. Then, you try to catch the meaning of the sentence but not the separate meanings of the words, that is, do not concentrate on words too much but on the meaning as a whole. Third, pay attention to the liaison,loss of explosion and assimilation of the words. Lastly, pay attention to the stressed words and guess the meaning through the intonation.6.
