any weekly exercise, according to research.
A study found that fewer than half of all young people eat fresh fruit daily.
They want to exercise to improve their beauty, but many do not because they do
not like the way they look while exercising.
Helen Haste, a professor at university and the author of the report, My Body, My Self, to be published this month, said: “We have done some w ork on young people?s behavior (⾏为) in relation to health, but we were interested in their attitudes(态度)to health, fitness and exercise. We can?t ask young people to change their behavior just by telling them what?s good for them, but need to tell them what is important to them.”
“Talkin g about being healthy in itself is not the right way to them, but being fitter and more attractive is.”
Prof Haste said fewer than half her sample(样本) exercised once a week, apart from walking. Asked why they did not exercise, 49 per cent of girls said that they did not feel comfortable exercising in front of other people, 35 per cent said they did not have time, 34 per cent said they did not look good in exercise clothes, 33 per cent said they did not want to look too muscular and 30 per cent said they were not good at sports. Almost half the girls said they would rather dance or do yoga than take part in traditional sports.

III. Listen to the passage and tell whether the following statements are true or false The Olympic Games have a long history. The Olympics began more than 2,700 years ago in Greece. In the old days, no foreigners or women were able to take part in the Olympics. Women were not allowed to watch the Olympics. At that time, the Olympics only lasted for one day.
Now, the Olympic Games have become one of the most important sports meetings in the world. The players all over the world take part in the Olympic Games actively. There are Summer Olympic Games and Winter Olympic Games. Both of them are held every 4 years. Usually the Winter Olympic Games have fewer sports than the Summer Games.
The first modern Summer Olympic Games were held in 1896, in Greece. Track and field competition has always been considered the heart of the Summer Olympic Games. China first took part in the Olympics in 1936. We didn?t win the first gold medal until 1984, in Los Angeles, USA. The 28h Olympics were held in Beijing, China in 2008.
In order to prepare for the Olympics, a lot of hotels, roads and stadiums will have to be built. The first Winter Olympic Games were held in 1924.
The goal of both games is: running faster, jumping higher and throwing more strongly. The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part in them.
IV. Listen to the passage and complete the form
Children in the USA like K Day very much. K is short for kite. March 7th is the K Day. On that day lots of children go out in the open air. They take their kites with them. Some kites are very big. Others are small. They?re in different colours. Every kite has a long string. To get the kites up, the children begin to run. They let out the string from the ball in their hands. Now the kites are flying in the air. How nice they look! Now all of the kites are high up in the air. Some are higher than others. The one like a bird is the highest. But what?s wrong? It is flying away! The string is broken. Another kite gets away. And more kites fly. But the children are running after them. They want to get them back. People are watching them and laughing. How happy they are!。
