Ability aims: They can use the sentence patterns to communicate with each other and they can also describe their weekends by using past tense.
Emotional aims: Develop students' attitudes of cooperation. Encourage them to enjoy weekend with their parents. .
Key and difficult points: Students can understand and say words:magazine, interesting, better and faster. They can master the sentence patterns and give answers.

Teaching processes
Step1 .Warm-up
1. Greetings (Free talk between teacher and students):
T:Hello, boys and girls ! How are you?
Ss.: I’m fine.
2. Sing ‘Last weekend ’ together.
3. Introductions of competition
Step2 .Revision and Lead –in
1.Quick response
T: If I say ‘ watch ’ you should say
‘watched’ ,then exchange.
2. Review sentences
T: What did you do last weekend?
Ss.: I cleaned my room ... .
3.Listen to ‘Let’s try ‘ and answer questions.
Q1.What did John do last weekend?
A. Slept . B . He read a new film magazine.
Q2.Are Wu Yifan and John going to meet Amy together?
A . Yes, they are. B. No, they aren’t.
Step 3:Presentation
1.Present new words and sentence patterns.
a.Present sentence patterns then guide them to answer. ( Listen
and repeat, invite students to read )
T:Now, let’s look at John’s weekend. Can you guess what he did last weekend?
Ss: He watched TV… .
T: Now , look at the pictures and try to say.( Pay
attention to ‘had a cold ’ and ‘slept’.)
T: This was John’s last weekend. How was John’s
weekend?
Was it interesting? ( Guide them to answer ,Yes/No)
Ss: No, it wasn’t.
T: Did he watch TV? ( Guide them to answer ,Yes/No)
Ss: No, he didn’t.
T: This time you are John , try to answer.
2.Present ‘ Let’s talk’
a. Read by themselves and answer questions, then
we’ll check together.
Q1:What did John do last weekend?
Q2:What did Amy do last weekend?
b. Read again and answer questions.( Pay
attention to words ‘better’, ‘faster’ and sentence ‘ It’s faster than walking.’)
Q1: How was the film magazine?
Q2: Is John better now?
Q3: How will they go there? Why?
c. Let’s check together.
d. Listen to the tape and repeat.
e. Read by themselves.
Step4: Practice
1.Who wants to be a teacher?
2.Pair work.( Work in pairs , boys and girls)
3.Try to finish the talk.
Step5:Summary and consolation
1.Group work and show time.( Make their own dialogue.)
2.Try to complete the text about ‘ My last weekend’.
3.Let’s chant--- Did you go to the park?
4.Let’s find the winner.
5.Enhance the theme by beautiful pictures--- Enjoy
beautiful spring ,have a good time with your family on the
weekends.

1. Copy the talk for once and translate it.
2.Write a short passage about your weekend.
