Teaching aims 1. To review the key words and sentences in Unit 1.
2. To understand and read the story.
3. To grasp the sentences in Main scene.
4. To raise the Ss’ interest in learning English by
talking, role playing and watching the video.

Teaching procedures
Step 1 Warming up & Revision
1. Greet the class.
2. Have an oral communication to talk about My day.
3. Ask some of the Ss to speak out the four-skill words of Unit 1. Then check some individuals to spell the key words. Pay atten- tion to the spelling of do morning exercises, go shopping, and go for a walk.
4. Use the same way to ask the Ss to speak out the key sentences in Unit 1 one by one.
5. Ask the Ss to translate some key sentences into English . Check the answers and ask the whole class to read the key sentences together.
6. Open their books to Page 2 and Page 3, read and understand the sentences in Main scene. Then recite by themselves. Step 2 Presentation & Practice
1. Ask and answer. Get to know something about the Ss’ weekend activities like What do you often do on the weekend? When do
you get up? When do you eat breakfast? Then lead out the new expression What else? Board it and lead the Ss to read and understand them.
2. Show the picture of Story time. Ask some of the Ss to describe Zoom and Zip. Guide the Ss to tell me What’s Zip’s favourite food? Then lead out the word nuts and collect nuts & dry the nuts. Then board them and read them together.
3. Listen to the story and answer the following questions.
A. What day is it today?
B. Is Zip very busy?
C. What does Zip do on the weekend?
4. Watch the video and ask the Ss to read the story sentence by sentence. Pay attention to the pronunciation of the words collect, nuts, else, show.
5. Ask some little teachers to lead the other Ss to read the story
sentence by sentence.
6. Try their best to read the story. At last, try to read the story
together.
Step 3 Consolidation & Extension
1. Role-play in pairs.
2. Ask some volunteers to act out the story.
3. Do exercises.
A. Answer the questions.
B. Fill in the blanks.
Step 4 Summary & Homework
1. Check the difficulties. (Read and retell the story)
2. Do homework.
A. Dub the story.
B. Create a mini book of this story.
