To be a feminist means that you believe women should have equal rights to men. Many people agree with this ideal. But some have become wary of using the term ,because in response ,people may brand you as radical or a man-hater. This is partly due to the media’s portrayal of feminists as bra-burners(通常对女权主 义者的一种贬称）that believe in female superiority.
3.Postmodern Feminism ( since the twenty sixties ）

1. The first significant feminist movement began in the late 19th century in the UK with the campaign for women’ suffrage(投票，选举权）. At last,women gained the right to vote (if they were over the age of 30) in 1918 in Britain.

At that time the European women's status were so slow. Therefore before the 17th century, the married women in England had the right which stem from their husbands. They had no basic rights unless her husband voluntarily gave rights to them. When her husband was alive, her property could be taken by her husband for personal enjoyment; if the husband died without a will, the property of the husband will be given to husband's relatives rather than to wife or her children.
