About five years ago , an American
electrical engineer named Scott Brusaw and
his wife Julie came up with the idea of
putting solar panels(控制板)on the ground
rather than the roof .Then they began to
develop the Solar Roadway .The Solar
Roadway is an intelligent road that provides
clean renewable energy using power from the sun . while providing safer driving
conditions , along with power and data delivery . They predict that the Solar
Roadway will pay for itself through the generation of electricity along with other forms of income and that the same money that is being used to build and
resurface current roads can be used to build the Solar Roadways.
Each Solar Road Panel measures roughly 4 meters by 4 meters and contains a microprocessor(微处理器 )that monitors and controls the panel ,while communicating with neighboring panels and the vehicles travelling overhead . The inventors suggest that this provides a communications device every 4 meters
on every road which could be used for example to warn drivers of cars which are
moving across a centre line and various other speed control problems. The top
of the Solar Road panels is made of super-strong glass that would offer vehicles the tractions(抓地力 ) they need.
According to the inventors, the Solar Roadway creates and carries clean renewable electricity and therefore electric vehicles can be recharged at any
conveniently located rest stop , or at any business that has paved Solar Road
Panels in their parking lots.
The inventors say their Solar Roadway has many functions and advantages from main roads to driveways, parking lots , bike paths , sidewalks and runways.
The Federal Highway Administration has given Brusaw$ 100,000to develop the invention and Brusaw hopes to build a smart-road parking lot in the coming spring .

too expensive to build at present

computers D. will bring them a large sum of money
72.The underlined word“ they” in Paragraph 2 refers to .
A. the panels
B. the inventors
C. the researchers
D. the vehicles
73.The Solar Roadway includes all the following advantages except.
A. providing safer driving conditions
B. helping drivers communicate with each other while driving
C. creating and carrying clean renewable electricity
D. warning drivers of various speed control problems
74. It can be inferred from the text that.
A. the Solar Roadway has already been put into use
B.$ 100,000 is only enough to build a smart-road parking lot
C.the Solar Roadway is not available for gas-powered cars
D.future electric vehicles can be charged anytime and anywhere
75.What can be the best title for the text?

Five years ago this month I founded Parenting Pathways. In celebration of
my 5-year-old child. I offer My Top5Pieces of Parenting Advice(in no particular order.)
1. There is no such thing as perfect. Struggling for perfection is a road
to nowhere. Stop! Expecting perfection from your child is a mistake. Perfection
is relative, and it doesn’ t really exist.Children need to be taught to struggle for satisfaction.
2.Prepare the child for the path and not the path for the child. You don’ t get to create a world that works for your child; you need to prepare your child for the world. Removing the stones from her way won’ t enable your child to walk life’s path. It is by allowing your child to deal with obstacles
in her way that you prepare her for life. And experience is her best teacher.
3.a child who has not been bandaged has not been well parented. Children need to struggle。
sometimes fall down. They need to get hurt, and they need to learn to pick themselves up with the support of a loving parent. It is through such struggle thin children learn they can survive the bruises(伤痕 ) —and how to do it differently or better next time.
4 .One careless Yes fuels a child through a thousand no’ s. Especially with young children who have elephant-1ike memories, stick to your principles. If one Thursday , six months ago, you gave in to your child’ s begging andright before dinner . He will remember it and keep asking you for a cookie every day
before dinner! Don’ t compromise. No means no !
5. Be the person you want your child to be. Even though you don’ t believe it now, the apple really doesn’ t fall too far from the tree. Your child is watching you all the time ; he is absorbing what you say and what you don’ t say , how you react, how you treat people, how you behave.Modeling is a powerful teacher.
76.Why does the author think it necessaryfor a child to suffer some kind of
struggles?(no more than 15 words.)
77.Fill in the blank with proper words .(no more than 5 words.)
78.What ’ s the probable meaning of the underlined word “ compromise ”?(no more than 3 words.)
79.In the sentence “ the apple really doesn’ t fall too far from the tree . ” what or who do “the apple ” and “ the tree ” refer to?
“ The apple ” refers to。
“ The tree ” refers to .
80.Translate the underlined sentence into Chinese.

Dear Brooke ,
I am writing to tell you that I took the English Speech Contest held in my
school yesterday . As the only one from my class. I had to challenge the other
l5 excellent participants selected from the whole school. When it came to me to present , I got a little bit nervous at first, but soon I calmed down at the thought of your words and suggestions. As you predicted, everything went smoothly and I performed perfectly. Although the question-and-answer section was the most challenging, I managed to get through it properly with the techniques you taught me. When the judge announced the result, I wasn’t at all surprised but quite excited!I got the first prize in the contest, which I couldn ’ t imagine months ago. Thank you very much Brooke, for your unselfish
and careful help.
I ’ m looking forward to your return to China . I ’ d like to show you the contest vedio.
