Save our earth
With the development of society，the earth is being damaged by people who are seeking comfort at all costs. The sky is no longer blue. The air is no longer fresh. The rivers are no longer clean. Many animals and plants are disappearing from the earth. And the size of deserts is growing rapidly every year. Our planet has been seriously polluted.
There are many reasons for this. First，many paper mills send out waste water and smoke that are not processed. Second，the expansion of large cities also brings about terrible pollution. Nowadays，waste gas and everyday rubbish have become big problems. Third，a huge number of trees are cut down each year. Whenever there is a strong wind，the top soil is blown away. Sandstorms badly affect people’s lives and health.
We all know that we have only one home. If we continue polluting it，the earth will turn out to be a planet which is unfit for us to li ve on. To save the earth means to save ourselves. Let’s take action without any delay. Let’s try our best to save the earth，our home.

Wuzhen (乌镇)，an ancient river town
On both sides of a stone-paved street stand pubs，restaurants，pawnshops(当铺)，and other businesses all housed in brown wooden buildings. Long rivers flow through the town，with stone bridges of various designs going over them. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal (京杭大运河) passes by. Old waterside houses and outside corridors(走廊) can be found here and there. This is the ancient river town of Wuzhen.
Wuzhen Town，in Tongxiang City，Zhejiang Province，has a history of more than 1，000 years. Of the ancient residential houses，workshops，and stores still standing on the banks of the rivers 169，600 square meters，making up 81.54 percent of the town's total area，have
remained unchanged，giving it an old feeling
Tradition is still very alive in Wuzhen. In addition to flower-drum operas，shadow-puppet show，and temple fairs，Wuzhen also attracts visitors with its time-honored art of making indigo-dyed printed calico(靛青印花布).
Wuzhen is at its best on rainy days. Wandering with an umbrella along a quiet old lane(巷子) past the centuries-old wooden houses and seeing the rain flow off the engraved eaves(木雕屋檐) that cover the doorways is an amazing experience. The falling raindrops make ripples(波纹) on the surfaces of the rivers，while boats travel to and fro. The waterside pavilions(亭子)，corridors，and the arched bridges make a charming scene.
People in Wuzhen live a simple life. Many of them breed silkworms and raise flowers. They have mostly kept the tradition of buying fruits and vegetables from trade boats through the windows of their waterside houses. They benefit from a perfect harmony of man and nature.
Wuzhen has been included by UNESCO (联合国教科文组织) in the list of World Cultural Heritages.
