school was not easy for me. I was unable to take part in sports and events like other students. I was receiving treatment, as my parents were trying to find the right one for me. I would rather stay at home and play the piano and read books.
The first two years of high school were the worst. I was bullied by girls and guys who didn’t want to get to know me. I soon felt as if there was something wrong with me. I felt alone. During the third year,
I took part in volleyball and cheerleading, and was very successful in the two. I made three very close
friends, and I soon started acting like myself. I became very popular in my class and the school, and was elected as Prom Queen(舞会女王 ).I grew so strong, and I gave my kindness to all around me, and stood up for what was right.
I came to a conclusion. It was my mom who helped me and stood by my side all those years, and it was my

In the tropical forests of Papua New Guinea, scientists have found a truly tiny frog. The adult frogs are just three-tenths of an inch long. Such a frog can sit on a dime and still has space to invite a few friends along. The little frogs are now the world’s smallest vertebrate, or animal with a backbone(脊柱 ). Louisiana State University professor Christopher Austin and student Eric Rittmeyer discovered the frog in 2009, during a trip to Papua New Guinea to study the wide variety of life on the island. The researchers
were recording the calls of frogs at night near the Amau River in eastern Papua New Guinea, when they heard some high-pitched (声调高的 ) sounds. “This frog has a call that doesn’t sound like a frog at all.It sounds like an insect,” said Austin.
They thought they would find an insect. What they got instead surprised them. “We found it by grabbing a whole handful of leaves, putting them into a clear plastic bag and very, very slowly going through them until we saw that small frog,” said Austin.
Claims about the tiniest animal with a backbone are still up for debate. Theodore Pietsch is an ichthyologist—a scientist who studies fish—at the University of Washington. In 2006, he described a species of deep-sea fish, about 2 mm smaller than the frogs. But only the males are that small. Austin knew about the fish, but felt that average species size would make a better comparison.

Good morning,everyone,
I am Li Hua from Sunshine Middle School. The topic of my speech is “Helping others is good for everyone”. There are many reasons why we make it a duty to help others. First of all, helping others brings happiness to one self from the smile that the others give.Secondly, being able to help others makes people feel like they belong to a greater community. It will be a good start of building up good relationships between them. It does not matter how much one can help others. Even a sweet smile and a hug can encourage other people to go through the challenges in their life.
Before I conclude my speech, please remember not to get discouraged by the misunderstandings in the course of helping others. Stay calm and you can find a better way to face them.
Thank you!。
