(完整版)2018年英语三级考试试题及答案解析2018成⼈学⼠学位英语考试试题I. Reading comprehensionPassage 1Since its founding in 1948, McDonald's has grown from a family burger (汉堡包) stand to a global fast-food chain, with more than 30,000 locations in 118 countries. With 58 million daily customers worldwide, McDonald’s is now so ubiquitous around the globe that The Economist publishes a global ranking of currencies' purchasing power based on the prices charged at the local McDonald’s, called the Big Mac Index (巨⽆霸指数).That’s not to say that every nation carries the same menu items: choices vary widely depending on location. Some Asian locations serve fried shrimp in a Big Mac roll, while McDonald’s in India doesn’t serve beef at all, relying instead on burgers made from vegetables, rice and beans. Not everyone in the world has been happy to greet Ronald McDonald when he moves to town. Many see McDonald's as a symbol of American economic and cultural chauvinism (沙⽂主义), and European nations in particular have viewed American-style fast food as an insult to their national food. A French farmer, Jose Bove, became something of a national hero in 1999 after he and a group of people destroyed a McDonald's under construction to protest globalization and "bad food." The next year, a bomb exploded in a French McDonald’s, killing a 27-year-old employee. (76) (76)No one claimed responsibility. But regardless of whether you like their food or their policies, McDonald’s is still widely seen as one of the true pioneers of peaceful globalization.1. Like most Native American children then, he liked to fish, hunt, swim, and play games outdoors. (76)He was healthy and strong, but he had very little formal education. In 1950, Jim Thorpe was named the greatest American football player. He was also an Olympic gold medal winner. But Thorpe had many tragedies in his life.Jim had a twin brother who died when he was nine years old. By the time he was 16, his mother and father were also dead. Jim then went to a special school in Pennsylvania for Native American children. There, he learned to read and write and also began to play sports. Jim was poor, so he left school for two years to earn some money. During this time, he played on a baseball team. (77) The team paid him only $15 a week. Soon he returned to school to complete his education. Jim was a star athlete(运动员) in several sports, including baseball, running and football. He won many awards for his athletic ability, mainly for football. In many games, he scored all or most of the points for his team.In 1912, when Jim Thorpe was 24 years old, he became part of the U. S Olympic team. He competed in two very difficult events: the pentathlon and the decathlon. Both require great ability and strength. The pentathlon has five track and field events, including the long jump and the 1,500-meter race. The decathlon hasten track and field and filed events, with running, jumping, and throwing contests.People thought it was impossible for an athlete to compete in both the pentathlon and the decathlon. So everyone was surprised when Thorpe won gold medals in both events. When the King of Sweden presented Thorpe with his two gold medals, he said, “Sir, you are the greatest athlete in the world.” Thorpe was a simple and honest man. He just answered,“Thanks, King.”6. All one has to do is walk by almost any nice gym and notice all the healthy, sweating, “skinny”members. Sometimes they stare at those of us who are , well, zaftig. It is easy to see the judgment behind their eyes. Who wants to put up with that? Many people are self-conscious of their bodies and feel isolated when joining workout classes or while exercising, especially if they are larger than most of the others in the group. Now the fitness industry is finally paying attention. Popular gyms are catering(迎合) to overweight and weight conscious customers by dedicating areas where the “skinny” people are not allowed. There are even gyms or programs that require members to be at least 50 pounds overweight to participate.Trainers recommended functional fitness as a practical goal, rather than six-pack abs(六块腹肌). (79)They often use text messages to stay in touch with customers. Often at these specialized gyms, the trainers are overweight themselves, or working on their own weight goals, and this can help those people with anxiety caused by poor body image. The equipment has been designed for use by larger people. Wider seats, more cushioning, no mirrors, and tinted(有⾊的) windows for privacy, are all important changes.(80) Hopefully these types of gyms will successfully grow in numbers in the future. The idea is a very simple and potentially popular one. If it helps those of us who are bigger exercise more and improve our fitness level, it’s a step in the right direction.11. The word zaftig in Paragraph 1 is closest in meaning to ______.A. fatB. healthyC. friendlyD. polite12. We can infer from the first two paragraphs that ___________.A. most large gym chains really want members to show up frequentlyB. overweight people are often frustrated and pushed away by traditional gym industryC. regular gyms don’t accept overweight people to participate in their programsD. overweight people have to pay extra to work out in a gym13. What is the training goal in the gyms catering to overweight members?A. To achieve functional fitness.B. To build six-pack abs.C. To look like a fitness model.D. To be able to run long distances.B. Tinted windows are used to ensure extra privacy.C. There are larger mirrors on the walls.D. The training goals are more realistic.15. Which of the following is the best title for the passage?A. 2018年 6月大学英语六级考试真题 (第 3套)Directions:For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay commenting on the importance ofbuilding trust between business and consumers. You can cite examples to illustrate your views. You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200words.Section AQuestions 26 to 35 are based on the following passage. When Elon Musk says that his new priority is using artificial intelligence to build domestic robots, we should look forward to the day in admiration.Mr. Musk is a guy who gets things done. The founder of two tech companies, Tesla Motors and SpaceX, is bringing electric vehicles to mass market and 26 humans to live on other planets. This sounds like so much hot air, but the near $13 billion fortune this entrepreneur has 27 comes from practical achievements rather than hypothetical ones.A lot of clever people are 28 about artificial intelligence, fearing that robots will one day become so 29 that they’ll murder all of us. These fears are mostly 30 : as with hysteria about genetic modification, we humans are generally wise enough to manage these problems with speed and care. And just think of how wonderful it would be if you had a live-in robot. It could, 31 , be like having a babysitter and a nurse rolled into one--or, if that required 32 intelligence beyond the power of Mr. Musk’s imagined machine, at least someone to chop the carrots, wash the car and mow the lawn. Once purchased and trained, this would allow the 33 user to save money and time, freeing up 34 space in our busy lives to read a good book. That is why we welcome Mr. Musk’s latest 35 , and wish him well. As long as robots add to the sum of human happiness, reduce suffering, and create time to read world-class journalism, we should be their fans. Each paragraph is marked with a letter. Answer the questions by marking the corresponding letter on Answer Sheet2.In the real world, nobody cares that you went to an Ivy League school[A]. As a high school junior, everything in my life revolved around getting into the right college. Idiligentlyattended my SAT, ACT, and Advanced Placement test preparation courses. I juggled(尽力应付)cross-country and track schedules, newspaper staff, and my church’s youth group and drama team. I didn’tdrink, party, or even do much dating. The right college, I thought, was one with prestige, one with a name. It didn’thave to be the Ivy League, but it needed to be “top school.”[B]. Looking back now, nine years later, I can’t remember exactly what it was about these universities that madethem seem so much better. Was it a curriculum that appeared more rigorous, perhaps?Or an alumninetwork that I hoped would open doors down the line?Maybe. “I do think there are advantages toschools with more recognition,” notes Marybeth Gasman, a professor of higher education at theUniversity of Pennsylvania. “I don’t necessarily think that’s a reason to go to one.”[C]. In reflection, my firm belief in the power of the brand was naive, not to mention a bit snobby. I quickly passedover state schools and southern schools, believing their curriculum to be automatically inferior tonortheastern or western counterparts. Instead, I dreamed of living in New York City and my parents obligedme with a visit to New York University’s(NYU)campus. During the tour, tuition fees were discussed.(NYU is consistently ranked one of the country’s most expensive schools, with room and board coststotaling upwards of $64,000 a year.)Up until then, I had n’t truly realized just how expensive an educationcan be. Over the next few months, I realized not only could I not afford my dream school, I couldn’t evenafford the ones where I’d been accepted. City University of New York(CUNY), Rutgers University, andIndiana University were out of reach as were Mississippi State and the University of Alabama, where Iwould have to pay out-of-state fees. Further complicating my college search was a flourishing stackcareer—I wante d to keep running but my times weren’t quite fast enough to secure a scholarship.[D]. And so, at 11pm on the night of Georgia State University’s(GSU)midnight deadline, I applied online.Rated No.466 overall on Forbes’ Lists Top Colleges, No. 183 in Research Universities, and No. 108 in theSouth, I can’t say it was my top choice. Still, the track coach had offered me a walk-on spot, and I actuallyfound the urban Atlanta campus a decent consolation prize after New YorkCity.[E]. While it may have been practical, it wasn’t prestigious, But here’s the thing:I loved my “lower-tier”(低层次的)university.(I use the term “low-tier” cautiously, because GSU is a well-regarded researchinstitution that attracts high quality professors and faculty from all over the country.)We are taught tobelieve that only by going to the best schools and getting the best grades can we escape the rat race and builda better future. But what if lower-tier colleges and universities were the ticket to escaping the rat race? After all, where else can you leave school with a decent degree—but without a lifetime of debt?[F] My school didn’t come pre-packaged like the more popular options, so we were left to take care of ourselves, figuring out city life and trying to complete degree programs that no one was championing for us to succeed in.What I’m saying is, Iloved my university because it taught us all to be resourceful and we could make what we wanted out of it.[G]. I was lucky enough to have my tuition covered by a lottery-funded scholarship called HOPE(HelpingOutstanding Pupils Educationally)When I started college, the HOPE scholarship was funded by thestate of Georgia and offered to graduating high school seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Living costsand books I paid for with money earned during high school, supplemented by a small college fund mydeceased grandfather left for me and a modest savings account my parents created when I wasborn.[H]. So what about all that name recognition?Sure, many of my colleagues and competitors have moreglamorous alma maters(母校)than I do. As a journalist, I have competed against NYU, Columbia, and Northeastern graduates for jobs. And yet, not a single interviewer has ever asked me about myeducational background. In fact, almost every interview I’ve ever had was due to a connection—onethat I’ve gained through pure determination, not a school brand.[I]. According to The Boston Globe, students who earned their bachelor’s in 2012 have an average monthlyloan payment of $312, which is one-third more than those who graduated in 2004. Ultimately, that’s the thing universities don’t want to admit. Private universities are money-making institutions. If you can afford to buy prestige, that’s your choice. For the rest of us, however, our hearty lower-tiered universities are just fine, thank you.[J]. Wealthy universities talk up the benefits their name will give graduates;namely, strong alumninetworks, star faculty, and a résumé boost. But you needn’t attend an Ivy League school to reap those rewards. Ludacris and the former CEO of Bank of America Ken Lewis are alumni of my college, as well as VI CE’s first female editor-in-chief, Ellis Jones. Successful people tend to be successful no matter where they go to school. And lower-tier schools can have alumni networks just as strong as their big name counterparts. In fact, lower-tier school alumni networks are arguably stronger, because fellow alumni recognize that you didn’t necessarily have an easy path to follow. They might be more willing to offer career help, because your less famous school denotes that, like them., you are also full of energy and perseverance.[K]. The Washington Post reported on a recent study by Princeton economists, in which college graduates, who applied to the most selective schools in the 12th grade were compared to those who applied to slightly less selective schools. They found that students with more potential earned more as adults, and the reverse held true as well, no matter where they went to school.[L]. Likewise, star faculty is not always found where you’d expect. Big name schools are not necessarily the best places for professors;plus, many professors split teaching time between multiple colleges and/or universities. This means, for instance, a CUNY student could reasonably expect to receive the same quality of instruction from a prestigious professor as they would if they were enrolled in the same class at NYU.[M]. It’s possible that some hiring managers may be drawn to candidates with a particular educational résumé, but it’s no guarantee. According to a 2012 survey described in The Atlantic, college reputation ranked lowest in relative importance of attributes in evaluating graduates for hire, beaten out by top factors like internships, employment during college, college major, volunteer experience, and extracurriculars.[N]. Maybe students who choose less prestigious universities are bound to succeed because they are determined to. I tend to think so. In any case, if I could do it again, I’d still m ake the same choice.Today I’m debt-free, resourceful—and I understand that even the shiniest packaging can’t predict what you’ll find on the inside.36.Modest institutions can also have successful graduates and strong alumni networks.37.The money the author made in high school helped pay for her living expenses and books at college.38.The author came to see how costly college education could be when she was trying to choose a university to attend.39.A recent study found that a graduate’s salary is determined by their potential, not the universitythey attended.40.The author cannot recall for sure what made certain top universities appear a lotbetter.41.None of the author’s job interviewers cared which college she went to.42.The author thinks she did the right thing in choosing a less prestigiousuniversity.43.In order to be admitted to a prestigious university, the author took part in various extracurricular activities and attended test preparation courses.44.The author liked her university which was not prestigious but lessexpensive.45.Colleges are reluctant to admit that graduates today are in heavier debt.。

TranslationPart I Writing1.For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay on the importance of building trust between teachers and students. You can cite examples to illustrate your views. You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.正确答案:The Importance of Building Trust Between Teachers and Students There is no denying that trust is an indispensable part of pleasant relationship between teachers and students. A renowned saying goes that trust is a priceless treasure and plays an important role in maintaining social harmony. If a student distrusts his teacher, he is very likely to lose interest in the subject. Therefore, it is imperative to build trust between teachers and students. First of all, with mutual trust, students’motivation to learn will be greatly enhanced. When students have faith in the teacher and what he or she imparts, they will put all their energies into study to acquire knowledge and pursue excellence. Undoubtedly, this will surely benefit students themselves. Second, teachers will be actively encouraged if students trust them, for students’ credibility will give them a sense of achievement in teaching career. Besides, teachers will care more about students’studies and development, which is a win-win result for both of them. Tolstoy, a Russian writer, once said, “To do the real bosom friend, you have to trust each other. “ Hence, from what’s been discussed above, we can see that trust is a must. Only by building mutual trust can teachers and students become close friends and have a sound relationship.解析:这是一篇议论文写作。

At British hardware chain B&Q,its"elder worker"stores in Manchester and Exmouth were18percent more profitable than its regular outlets—due in part, the company says,to six times less employee turnover and60percent less shoplifting and breakage.1.Jeeba's difference from a conventional company mainly lies in______.A the age of its employeesB the number of its ownersC the quality of its productsD the scope of its operations2.In the developed world, compared with young people, the elderly______.A are better at businessB are greater in numberC have healthier lifestylesD have more job opportunities3.According to the writer,m the current situation companies are faced with the tough task of______.A creating good positionsB employing retired workersC filling vacant positionsD replacing unskilled workers4.For future prosperity, many European countries will have to______.A increase the number of young workersB offer many senior-friendly jobsC improve services for seniorsD raise their retirement ages5.B&Q's"elder worker"stores are mentioned to show that the employment of older workers______.A does not reduce a company's competitivenessB does not affect older workers"lifestyle choicesC is not a usual practice among competitive firmsD is not good news to those who are eager to retireText2Here's how I want to watch the2014Winter Olympics.I want to go to a Web site to see any event I want, whenever I want to watch it,on whatever screen I choose. I"ll gladly pay.The technology exists to make this happen today.Yet nearly two decades after the introduction of the World Wide Web,this remains a fantasy.NBC,which broadcasted the Vancouver Olympics in the United States, wouldn"t put videos on its Web site until they had been shown on prime-time TV.So Americans had the weird experience of learning from a news report during the day that something fantastic hadjust happened, and then having to wait until that night's broadcast to see it.Bloggers complained, but NBC wouldn"t give way.Its research shows that people like me,who want to watch the Olympics online, represent only7percent of the total audience. The other, bigger concern is:the Internet doesn"t deliver any money.Advertisers remain willing to pay big money to show their commercials on prime-time TV.But on the Internet? Not so much.So NBC clings to the old way of doing things. As it sees it,the prime-time show is the most important. To make matters worse,NBC was already expecting to lose $250million on the2010Vancouver Games.Good luck persuading it to invest in a risky Web project. It's easy to blame the network executives. But the NBC guys and their like are only doing what makes sense. They"re going where the money is.That needs to change.Yes,selling reporting of Olympic events over the Internet would drain away some of the prime-time audience, but my sense is many of the online subscribers would still watch the prime-time show. And over time, the subscription dollars could become a substantial revenue stream.Instead of viewing the Internet as a threat to prime time, the TV networks should see the Web as a way to sell even more of their product to a small but passionate subset of their audience.I"m hoping that by2014,that will have changed.1.According to the writer, watching the Olympics online as one likes______.A is technologically impossibleB is still denied to the audienceC has been a dream for20yearsD will no longer be free in20142.We learn that what Americans saw about the Vancouver Olympics______.A was unavailable onlineB differed from the newsC seemed weird to themD was first shown on TV3.Bloggers complained about NBC's______.A neglect of those in the minorityB excessive online advertisementsC delay in providing videos onlineD limited reporting on sports news4.After the2010Vancouver Games,NBC is likely to______.A improve its prime-time showB continue its current practiceC raise its price for advertisingD try its luck in a web program5.The writer thinks the TV networks should view the Web as a potential to help them to______.A make dramatic profitsB develop new productsC satisfy their subscribersD divide prime-time revenuesText3One important thing during the pre-Christmas rush at our house was the arrival of my daughter's kindergarten report card. She got high praise for her reading, vocabulary and overall enthusiasm. On the other hand,we learnt that she has work to do on her numbers and facility with the computer, though the detailed handwritten report her teachers prepared is absent of any words that might be interpreted as negative in describing her efforts.A number system indicates how she's measuring up in each area without any mention of passing or failing. All of which seems to make my daughter's school neither fish nor fowl when it comes to the debate over the merits of giving formal grades to kids.At one level, the advantages and disadvantages are obvious.A grade system provides a straightforward standard by which to measure how your child is progressing at school—and how he or she is getting on compared to other children. But as writer Sue Ferguson notes, "Grades can deceive."The aim should be"to measure learning, not simply what a student can recall on a test."The two aren"t the same—and if you doubt that as an adult, ask yourself whether you could sit down without any preparation and still pass those high-school-level examinations. If you"re old enough, you've lived through this debate before. At one time,it was considered unfair to put children in direct competition with one another if it could be avoided. The intention behind that may have been good, but it ignored the fact that competition, and the will to come out on top,are essential components of the human condition. This time around, educators working with a no-grades approach are emphasizing different reasons. The thing is,that approach is much more commonplace in the adultworkplace than is the traditional pass-fail system we place on our children. Many workplaces conduct regular employee evaluations. There are usually fairly strict limits to what an employer can tell an employee in those evaluations—and even then, negative evaluations can be challenged by the employee. No matter where you sit in the debate over the grade system, then, the real question is this:if it's so good for kids, why isn"t that also true for adults?1.The school report indicates that the writer's daughter______.A lacks interest in her school workB ranks among the best at languageC has some trouble with her handwritingD needs to improve in math and computer skills2.We can learn that the girl's school tries to deliver the report______.A in a positive wayB in a scientific wayC in an attractive wayD in an enthusiastic way3.Sue Ferguson seems dissatisfied with the grade system for its focus on ______.A the process of getting the knowledgeB the capability of memorizing for the testC the procedure of measuring learningD the standard of comparing schools4.The writer would agree that cutting children off from competition is______.A fit for human developmentB fit for their age and experienceC against a key part of human natureD out of consideration for children5.It can be learned that today's educators supporting the no-grades approach insist that______.A kids be allowed to challenge the negative evaluationsB the traditional teacher-student relationship be changedC the evaluation system for kids be similar to that for adultsD strict rules be set up in evaluating school childrenPart BDirections:Read the texts from a magazine in which five people voice their different opinions in response to an article on the issue of praising. For questions61-65,match the name of each person(61-65)to one of the statements(A-G)given below.Mark your answers on ANSWER SHEET1.Mike:Praise often and sincerely—it's as simple as that.Employees want to feel needed and appreciated.By offering sincere praise with examples about what they did right, you"ll go far in creating an energetic team.Meanwhile,I don"t agree with the assertion that"to focus on what needs improving isn"t good management."In fact,it's the balance of praise along with constructive criticism that drives employees to work smarter and reach higher.Frank:This article makes a valid point that needs to be understood, especially for thenew generation of workers,my generation. We don"t see ourselves as parts in the machine to be put in the dark to work.My generation needs respect in return from our employer,we need to feel appreciated beyond just a pay check,it's the difference between being fulfilled at our career and being sad at our job.Joyce:One skill missing in today's workplace is the ability to build effective business relationships. At the core of that relationship is the need for consistent feedback. "How am I doing?"is a question that should be answered consistently. When you tell an employee once a year what is needed to improve, you have not done your job as a leader—build skills, provide feedback and help the employee grow and develop.Ellen:I don"t see a problem with praising employees when it's truly deserved (insincere praise is an entirely different story). It's a cost-free"benefit",if you will,in that it allows employees to see that their efforts are both noticed and valued. In the work world there are always people available to tell that you are doing something wrong and far too few occasions when employees are told that they"ve done something right!Diana:Praise what the employee did.Be specific about why it was helpful. An employee who continually earns your praise also deserves your attention as to how else to reward their behavior.Meaningful praise encourages people beyond anything else.Written comments are available for later review. They give them confidence that they can"do it again."I never regretted praising an employee who deserved it butoften kicked myself for missing an opportunity. Now match the name of each person(61to65)to the appropriate statement.Note:there are two extra statements.StatementsA.Praise combined with criticism is helpful.B.Praise can bring about many kinds of desired behavior.C.Employees may feel it hard to accept insincere praise.D.Let employees know exactly for what they are praised.E.In my opinion,we are not generous enough to give praise.F.Employees need helpful advice on a regular basis.G.Money alone cannot guarantee a sense of career fulfillment for me.SectionⅣWriting Directions:You should write your responses to both Part A and Part B of this Section on ANSWER SHEET2.Part A1.You will be transferred to the city where your friend James lives.Write an email to him, telling him about:1)the reason(s)for your job transfer;2)the help you will need from him.You should write approximately100words.Do not use your own name at the end of your e"Wang Lin"instead.Part B1.Below is a picture showing a young man who chooses to stay at home, depending on his parents for a living.Write an essay of about120words making reference to the following points:1)the possible causes of the young man's problem;2)your suggested solutions to the problem.2018年公共英语三级真题答案(精品)(总分110,做题时间90分钟)SectionⅠListening Comprehension Directions:This Section is designed to test your ability to understand spoken English. You will hear a selection of recorded materials and you must answer the questions that accompany them. 2018年6月大学英语六级真题试卷(三)(题后含答案及解析)题型有:1. Writing 2. Listening Comprehension 3. Reading Comprehension 4.

2018英语三级考试题与答案解析
2018英语三级考试题与答案解析2018成人学士学位英语考试试题I. Reading comprehensionPassage 1Since its founding in 1948, McDonald's has grown from a family burger (汉堡包) stand to a global fast-food chain, with more than 30,000 locations in 118 countries. With 58 million daily customers worldwide, McDonald’s is now so ubiquitous around the globe that The Economist publishes a global ranking of currencies' purchasing power based on the prices charged at the local McDonald’s, called the Big Mac Index (巨无霸指数).That’s not to say that every nation carries the same menu items: choices vary widely depending on location. Some Asian locations serve fried shrimp in a Big Mac roll, while McDonald’s in India doesn’t serve beef at all, relying instead on burgers made from vegetables, rice and beans. Not everyone in the world has been happy to greet Ronald McDonald when he moves to town. Many see McDonald's as a symbol of American economic and cultural chauvinism (沙文主义), and European nations in particular have viewed American-style fast food as an insult to their national food. A French farmer, Jose Bove, became something of a national hero in 1999 after he and a group of people destroyed a McDonald's under construction to protest globalization and "bad food." The next year, a bomb exploded in a French McDonald’s, killing a 27-year-old employee. He was born in 1888 in an Indian Territory(印第安人保护区)that is now Oklahoma. The decathlon hasten track and field and filed events, with running, jumping, and throwing contests.People thought it was impossible for an athlete to competein both the pentathlon and the decathlon. Popular gyms are catering(迎合) to overweight and weight conscious customers by dedicating areas where the “skinny”people are not allowed. There are even gyms or programs that require members to be at least 50 pounds overweight to participate.Trainers recommended functional fitness as a practical goal, rather than six-pack abs(六块腹肌). (79)They often use text messages to stay in touch with customers.Often at these specialized gyms, the trainers are overweight themselves, or working on their own weight goals, and this can help those people with anxiety caused by poor body image. The equipment has been designed for use by larger people. Wider seats, more cushioning, no mirrors, and tinted(有色的) windows for privacy, are all important changes.(80) Hopefully these types of gyms will successfully grow innumbers in the future. The idea is a very simple and potentially popular one. If it helps those of us who are bigger exercise more and improve our fitness level, it’s a step in the right direction.11.
