invite sb. to sth/ sp.
e.g. 他想邀请同事们来参加生日聚会。 He wants to invite his colleagues to his birthday party. invite sb. to do sth. e.g. 我想请你和我一起去游故宫。 I’d like to invite you to visit the Forbidden City with me.
hopeless:
adj. not likely to succeed or improve
e.g. a hopeless situation 他们在寻找生存者,但是希望渺茫。 They are searching for survivors, but it was hopeless.
