That doesn't mean that everyone has to like getting old, and to varying degrees we might find this idea hard to swallow. However, worries about aging can go to extremes and become a fear and a distraction that needs to be dealt with. So if you find yourself very scared of getting old, how can you go about overcoming this fear and viewing aging in a more natural and healthy manner? In any case, it is crucial to recognize how your fear develops. Psychologists generally believe the fear of aging is in essence a common fear of death. If you are scared of getting old, you may be a person who easily has adverse reactions to stimuli associated with death, for example, the sight of someone aging painfully or a picture of skulls. If this is the case, you should face the unpleasant scene or memory with a sensible mind so that you can understand the fear better and lessen its impact. Meanwhile, it is important to focus on not only the negative aspects of getting old, but also the positive. You should recognize that many people actually reach old age gracefully, and they go on to lead great lives full of exploration, adventure and personal achievement.Furthermore, there are in fact many reasons to look forward to getting old. For instance, when you are older, you will gain more respect from your peers, and you become more contented with life. Conversely, you can stay as long as you like. You're the boss, after all. It's so thrilling to arrive at a camp site, put up your tent and start getting a meal ready. You are active all the time and you are always close to nature. Imagine yourself beside some clear stream with mountains in the background, taking delight in the fresh air and the peace of the scenery. Camping provides you with a real change from everyday living. More than 3.4 million plastic surgeries were carried out in China in 2010, generating revenues of about 48 billion US dollars. With the rapid development, more teenagers or middle school students also come to seek cosmetic surgery, particularly during the summer and winter vacations. Some have their parents with them, and some do not. Most public hospitals won't accept a minor asking for cosmetic surgery if the teenager does not have his or her parents' consent to the procedure. However, some medical organizations do perform it on minors without parental approval. It is advised that children under 18 should be disqualified from plastic surgery, as they are not physically ready for image-changing operations. Lots of teenagers are endangered by cosmetic surgery due to rising medical accidents in this industry. Statistics have shown that the plastic surgery industry is one of the industries that are confronted with the most complaints in China. Over the past 10 years, more than 200,000 consumers complained that their facial looks had been impaired. Despite this, plastic surgery is still popular. As was indicated by an online survey, 71 percent of the respondents said today's social aesthetic values have led to a fascination with plastic surgery. Many people believe that one's looks are just another service that can be bought for a price.Judging people by their appearance is a common practice in many countries. Some people keep the faith that a pretty face can extend their competitive edge. Even if potential dangers remain, they are often overshadowed by the probable dramatic increase of wealth stemming from changes of appearance.Passage FourAre you in New York or planning on visiting the city? Write down this name: Blue Note Jazz Club. Blue Note is one of the premier jazz clubs in the world and animportant cultural institution in Greenwich Village, New York City. When it was started in 1981, the owner and founder Danny Bensusan had a vision to create a jazz club that would treat deserving artists with respect, while providing customers with opportunities to see the world's finest jazz musicians in a close, comfortable setting. Artists who had stopped playing in jazz clubs decades before, such as Sarah Vaughn, Lionel Hampton and Ray Brown, soon called Blue Note home. Jazz is undoubtedly America's music, and while Blue Note strives to preserve the history of jazz, the club is a place where progression and innovation are encouraged and practiced on a nightly basis. In addition to the main acts that feature renowned jazzists, Blue Note has introduced the Monday Night Series and the bi-weekly Late Night Groove Series, which are appealing to both musicians and fans. Over the years, Blue Note has been an economic engine for Greenwich Village, drawing not only some of the biggest names in jazz but also talented newcomers. It has been the meeting point for jazz artists and fans. At Blue Note, there is a unique intimacy between the audience and the musician. Another thing that makes Blue Note so special is that on a given night, anything can happen. It is not uncommon to see prominent jazz musicians like Stevie Wonder and Tony Bennett get called up on the stage and improvise (即兴演出). After over 30 years of success, Blue Note continues to carry the torch for jazz into the 21st century in the cultural heart of New York.Passage FiveI n the late 1950s, the French government paid great attention to the quality of products. It was stressed that workmanship and quality were more important than quantity for industrial production, and that it would be strategically necessary for the country to produce quality goods for the international market to compete with those produced in other countries. As was agreed, the French economy needed a larger share of the international market to even up its import and export trade. Why was it the case? French industrial and agricultural production at that time was still inadequate to meet the immediate demands of its people, let alone long-ranged developments. Essential imports had stretched the national credit to breaking point. Meanwhile, the runaway inflation was constantly exerting an impact on the general population through the cost of food. To address these problems, French government increased wages and paid extensive allowance and benefits for families. It also provided full-time and even overtime employment. Yet, taken together, these factors only enabled the working class to exist but allowed them no sense of long-term security. In this discouraging situation, workers were willing to seek employment overseas for higher wages. However, the French government was reluctant to let workers leave the country because it was worried that the emigration of workers would scale down the size of its labor force. And in turn, the lack of qualified labor force would affect the quality of industrial goods produced in France. Besides, qualified workers employed abroad would help multiply the quantity of high-quality goods produced in foreign countries, which would make it harder for France to compete in the international market.Passage SixThese days the media is full of stories of celebrities' private lives: their relationships, clothing, hairstyle and so on. Society seems to have a never-ending appetite for this type of gossip. Nevertheless, there has been heated controversy over the enormous media coverage of celebrities' lives.Supporters of the media seem to have strong arguments. One of their claims is that celebrities choose to be publicized, that is, they invite media attention on purpose, despite being aware that this will leave themselves exposed to public attention. Therefore, they have no reason to feel resentment toward the media. In addition, the public has the right to know about the famous since it is their money that supports them, for instance through purchase of tickets, DVDs and music downloads. Thus, celebrities have to give up some privacy when choosing to do something that puts them in the spotlight. However, I strongly feel that celebrities deserve to be protected from the media. Firstly, celebrities do have the right to privacy, just like any other person. Although they may seek to be known, this doesn't mean that the media is justified to interfere in every detail of their private lives. Secondly, the media may be wrongly utilized to spread untrue and manipulated news. Reporters are sometimes more interested in selling a story than in investigating something of genuine importance. Lastly, the unwelcome attention from the media can cause psychological and physical damage, either to the celebrities themselves, or to the journalists. In attempting to maintain their image, celebrities may repress rage, fear or sadness caused by negative or excessive media coverage. Sometimes, if they are pushed too far, they may also be provoked into aggressive responses. On balance, I believe that celebrities have the right to say No to the media when their privacy is subject to unwanted intrusion (侵扰).。

Meanwhile, some beautiful scenes of the university campus enjoy a good fame, which can provide rare opportunities for tourists to spend some relaxing time. What's more, the strong academic atmosphere may have a great effect on tourists, particularly teenagers, to work hard and achieve their dreams. 大学生活与成功英语演讲稿如何平衡学习与社交,才能实现成功
大学生活与成功英语演讲稿如何平衡学习与社交,才能实现成功Ladies and gentlemen,As young adults entering university, we are often faced with numerous challenges and responsibilities. While our primary focus is to excel in our studies, it is equally important to engage in meaningful social activities that help us grow as individuals. The challenge, therefore, lies in finding a balance between these two activities. The aim of this speech is to offer you some insights and strategies on how to balance both activities to attain success in your university life. Before delving deeper, it is essential to define what we mean by "success." Success in university can take many forms, such as achieving academic excellence, developing strong social relationships with peers, discovering and pursuing personal interests and passions, and developing life skills. Success is about creating a fulfilling and happy university life, and that involves finding a balance between studying and socializing. The first strategy to achieve this balance is toprioritize your time. Every student has a different schedule, depending on the course load and extracurricular activities they have engaged in. Therefore, the ability to prioritize time effectively is critical. Always prioritize your academic responsibilities and plan your study schedule according to your course syllabus. Identify the most important tasks and classify others as less important. Allocate time to your studies, attend your classes, and participate in discussions outside the classroom. Once you have met your academic responsibilities, you can then schedule time for social activities. The second strategy is to find a community that shares similar interests and goals. Most universities offer various clubs and organizations that cater to student's interests in sports, arts, culture, politics, religion, and more. Joining such clubs can help students meet people and establish social connections. Find a group of like-minded individuals, and you will find it easier to balance your academic work and social life. The third strategy is to develop a time management plan where you have pre-determined activities. Create a schedulethat allocates time for academic work, social activities, relaxation, personal development, exercising, and rest. Remember to factor in some buffer time for unscheduled activities. Your schedule should be flexible and adaptable to changes in academic demands or unforeseen events. Finally, one must practice self-discipline. Studying and socializing require self-discipline and dedication. Always remember to stay focused and motivated whenever you are studying or hanging out with friends. Complete your academic work before engaging in social activities, and if you find it difficult to stay committed, find a study group that canoffer peer support and guidance. In conclusion, balancing academic work and socializing is vital for achieving success in university life. The key is to prioritize your academic responsibilities first, find a community of like-minded individuals, develop a time management plan, and practice self-discipline. Remember, itis possible to grow academically and socially at the same time, and every student should strive to create a fulfilling and happy university life by achieving this balance.Thank you.。

By instilling in college students a sense of social responsibility, we can help to ensure that they are well-prepared to tackle the challenges that lie ahead. There are several ways in which colleges and universities can cultivate the social responsibility of their students. One approach is to incorporate service-learning opportunities into the curriculum. Service-learning involves combining community service with academic study, allowing students to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world problems. By engaging in service-learning opportunities, students can gain a greater understanding of the issues facing society and develop a sense of responsibility towards addressing them.Another approach is to provide students with opportunities to engage in community service and volunteer work. Many colleges and universities have partnerships with local community organizations, allowing students to get involved in activities that benefit the broader community. By participating in community service and volunteer work, students can develop a sense of empathy and compassion towards others, and gain a greater appreciation for the importance of giving back to society. In conclusion, cultivating the social responsibility of college students is essential for creating a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable society. My name is Tommy and I'm going to tell you all about why it's super important for college kids to have good social skills and make lots of friends. You see, when you're in college, you're not a little kid anymore – you're becoming a grown-up! And grown-ups need to know how to talk to people and get along with others really well.In college, you'll meet so many new people from all different places. Some might become your best friends for life! But ifyou're too shy or don't know how to make conversation, you could miss out on making those great friends. My big sister Sarah is in college and she tells me that having friends makes the whole experience way more fun. When you make friends, you can study together, go to parties and clubs, and just hang out. Sarah's roommate Emily is really good at math, so she helps Sarah with her math homework. And Sarah is a whiz at writing papers, so she helps Emily with her English class. They learn from each other and make sure neither one fails a class! That's what good friends do – they've got each other's backs. But it's not just about helping with schoolwork. College is also a time to try new things, and it's more fun to have friends to try them with! Last semester, Sarah and her friends joined the rock climbing club. She was a little nervous at first, but her friends encouraged her and now she loves it. They go climbing every week and cheer each other on. Sometime they'll have a fun trip out of town too, to climb at national parks and stuff. Doing activities with friends makes them way more enjoyable.Speaking of trying new things, college is a great time to meet people from different backgrounds than you. Where I live, most people are like me – but at college, you'll meet people from all over the country and even all over the world! Sarah's friends come from China, Mexico, Nigeria, and so many other cool places. She's learned about their cultures and homes, and now she has friends to visit all over the globe. She tells me making friends from different cultures really opens your eyes to how big and amazing the world is. If you can't be friends with people who are different than you, you'll miss out.But knowing how to act in social situations isn't just about making friends – it'll also help you a ton when you get a job after college. Imagine having an interview for your dream career, but you can't look the interviewer in the eye or you don't know how to shake hands properly. Not having social skills will make it really hard to get hired! And once you do get a job, you'll have to work as part of a team and communicate with everyone in a professional way. If you struggled with social skills in college, it'll be really tough to succeed at work. That's why it's so important to practice your social skills while you're still in college and surrounded by people your age. Join some clubs and meet new people who share your interests. Put yourself out there, make conversation, and learn how to be a good friend. If you're shy, force yourself to break out of your shell, even if it's uncomfortable at first. The more you work on it now, the better you'll get! I've seen how my sister Sarah has bloomed thanks to college and all the new friends she's made. Sure, she was a little awkward at the start, but now she's a total social butterfly with tons of friends. She's really grown into a mature, independent person who knows how to connect with all different kinds of people.I know that right now I'm just a kid, but one day I'll be in college too. And I want to be like Sarah – joining clubs, making lifelong friends, and becoming a well-rounded, socially skilled adult who can take on the world! Don't you want that for yourself too? So remember, through all the late-night studying and stressful exams, make time for your social life as well. Step out of your comfort zone, be open-minded, and don't let your shyness stop you. Make an effort to develop those "people skills" now, because they'll lead to amazing friendships, enriching experiences, and a successful future career. Now go out there and start practicing those social skills.I believe in you!篇5Being a Uni Student is Super Cool!Hi everyone! I'm going to tell you all about why it's really really important for university students to have good social skills. University is where you go after high school to learn even more stuff and get ready for an awesome job. My big sister just started university last year and she's told me so much about it.First of all, university is huge! There are like thousands of students all going to classes and living on campus. That means you have to meet tons of new people every day - your classmates, roommates, professors, and all the staff that work there. If you don't know how to talk to people properly, make friends, and work together on projects, you're going to have a really hard time at uni.My sister said that in her first few weeks, she was pretty shy and it was hard for her to start conversations with strangers or speak up in class discussions. But then she joined a couple clubs and started hanging out with people who liked the same things she did, like reading and art. Pretty soon, she made a whole bunch of new friends who she could chat with, study with, and hang out with. Now she's way more confident around people she doesn't know.Another big part of uni life is working on group projects and assignments. You'll be split into teams a lot to research topics, write papers, or create presentations together. If you can't communicate well with your team members, you'll probably get lower grades. Good social skills help you listen to others' ideas, negotiate tasks, and resolve any arguments within the group. My sister had to learn how to speak up respectfully when she disagreed with something, instead of just going along with what others said.Speaking of speaking up, you have to do a lot of presenting too! Whether it's answering questions in class, giving a speech, or pitching an idea, you can't just sit silently. My sister was terrified of public speaking at first, but she got way better at it by practicing her presentations with friends first and learning tricks to stay calm. Good social skills make it easier to engage with your audience and deliver a clear, confident message.Outside of academics, social skills also help you get involved in uni clubs, sports, volunteering, student government, and all the other fun extracurriculars. You have to be a good team player to hold an executive position or work on community projects with others. My sister joined the environmental club and now she's always meeting new people while helping to clean up parks and beaches. But probably the biggest reason social skills matter so much is for networking and preparing for your future career. At university, you'll meet professors, guest speakers, alumni, employers at job fairs, and so many other people who could help you find amazing internships or jobs after graduating. You need to know how to confidently introduce yourself, start conversations, ask good questions, and keep in touch with your professional connections. My sister went to a networking event last semester and was able to chat with some really interesting people in her field of study. One guy even offered her a summer internship if she applied! She wouldn't have gotten that opportunity if she had just stayed in a corner the whole time.So as you can see, being awesome at socializing is absolutely critical for getting the most out of university. It helps you make new friends, ace group projects, become a leader on campus, find great jobs and so much more! My big sis knows her social skills still need some work, but she's improving every day by putting herself out there.Who knows, maybe one day I'll be a super outgoing and confident university student too! I'm already practicing by saying hi to all my classmates and talking to my parents' friends whenthey come over. I just need to remember to make eye contact, speak clearly, be friendly and all that good stuff.University seems like such an exciting adventure with so many new people to meet. I can't wait until it's my turn! I'll make sure I'm prepared with tip-top social skills so I can take full advantage of the whole uni experience. Woo!。
扎克伯格哈佛演讲稿中英文
扎克伯格哈佛演讲稿中英文英文原文:President Faust, Board of Overseers, faculty, alumni, friends, proud parents, members of the ad board, and graduates of the greatest university in the world, I'm honored to be with you today because, let's face it, you accomplished something I never could. If I get through this speech, it'll be the first time I actually finish something at Harvard. Class of 2017, congratulations!I'm an unlikely speaker, not just because I dropped out, but because we're technically in the same generation. We walked this yard less than a decade apart, studied the same ideas and slept through the same Ec10 lectures. We may have taken different paths to get here, especially if you came all the way from the Quad, but today I want to share what I've learned about our generation and the world we're building together. But first, the last couple of days have brought back a lot of good memories. How many of you remember exactly what you were doing when you got that email telling you that you got into Harvard? I was playing Civilization and I ran downstairs, got my dad, and for some reason, his reaction was to video me opening the email. That could have been a really sad video. I swear, getting into Harvard is still the thing my parents are most proud of me for. What about your first lecture at Harvard? Mine was Computer Science 121 with the incredible Harry Lewis. I was late, so I threw on a t-shirt and didn't realize until afterwards it was inside out and backwards with my tag sticking out the front. I couldn't figure out why no one would talk to me — except one guy, KX Jin, he just went with it. We ended up doing our problem sets together, and now he runs a big part of Facebook. And that, Class of 2017, is why you should be nice to people. But my best memory from Harvard was meeting Priscilla. I had just launched this prank website Facemash, and the ad board wanted to "see me." Everyone thought I was going to get kicked out. My parents came to help me pack. My friends threw me a going away party. As luck would have it, Priscilla was at that party with her friend. We met in line for the bathroom in the Pfoho Belltower, and in what must be one of the all-time romantic lines, I said: "I'm going to get kicked out in three days, so we need to go on adate quickly."Actually, any of you graduating can use that line.Today I want to talk about three ways to create a world where everyone has a sense of purpose: by taking on big meaningful projects together, by redefining equality so everyone has the freedom to pursue purpose and by building community across the world.First, let's take on big meaningful projects. Our generation will have to deal with tens of millions of jobs replaced by automation like self-driving cars and trucks. But we have the potential to do so much more together. Every generation has its defining works. More than 300,000 people worked to put a man on the moon – including that janitor. Millions of volunteers immunized children around the world against polio. Millions of more people built the Hoover dam and other great projects. These projects didn't just provide purpose for the people doing those jobs, they gave our whole country a sense of pride that we could do great things. Now it's our turn to do great things. I know, you're probably thinking: I don't know how to build a dam, or get a million people involved in anything. But let me tell you a secret: no one does when they begin. Ideas don't come out fully formed. They only become clear as you work on them. You just have to get started. If I had to understand everything about connecting people before I began, I never would have started Facebook.Movies and pop culture get this all wrong. The idea of a single eureka moment is a dangerous lie. It makes us feel inadequate since we haven't had ours. It prevents people with seeds of good ideas from getting started. Oh, you know what else movies get wrong about innovation? No one writes math formulas on glass. That's not a thing. It's good to be idealistic. But be prepared to be misunderstood. Anyone working on a big vision will get called crazy, even if you end up right. Anyone working on a complex problem will get blamed for not fully understanding the challenge, even though it's impossible to know everything upfront. Anyone taking initiative will get criticized for moving too fast, because there's always someone who wants to slow you down. But if you know what you're sure about, if you know what you want to build, then you must be bold and be committed to it. You'll make mistakes. It's tough, but it's a part of being bold. You'll make mistakes, but you'll learn from them, and that's the best way to build something great.

《逍遥游》的英译本A Happy Excursion(逍遥游)Zhuang Zhou(庄周)In the northern ocean there is a fish, called the k’un, I do not know how many thousand li in size. This k’un changes into a bird, called the p’eng. Its back is I do not know how many thousand li in breadth. When it is moved, it flies, its wings obscuring the sky like clouds. (北冥有鱼,其名为鲲。
鲲之大,不知其几千里也;化而为鸟,其名为鹏。
鹏之背,不知其几千里也;怒而飞,其翼若垂天之云。
)When on a voyage, this bird prepares to start for the Southern Ocean, the Celestial Lake. And in the Records of Marvels we read that when the p’eng flies southwards, the water is smitten for a space of three thousand li around, while the bird itself mounts upon a great wind to a height of ninety thousand li, for a flight of six months’ duration. (是鸟也,海运则将徙于南冥;南冥者,天池也。

《谐》之言曰:“鹏之徙于南冥也,水击三千里,抟扶摇而上者九万里,去以六月息者也。
”)There mounting aloft, the bird saw the moving white mists of spring, the dust-clouds, and the living things blowing their breaths among them. It wondered whether the blue of the sky was its real color, or only the result of distance without end, and saw that the things on earth appeared the same to it. (野马也,尘埃也,生物之以息相吹也。

it is written aroud the measures to deal with the traffic congestion. It is expressed logically.
From this tendency we can predict when it comes to 2015; more vehicles can be seen on the road because the population and economic development will always be on the rise. But I think it will never be at the same speed. Firstly, new roads will be built to ease the traffic pressure. Secondly, some restrictive policies have taken that just local vehicles allowed entering Beijing. What's more, more and more people choose green way to travel instead of driving to protect the environment either.
You should write about 150 words on the ANSWER SHEET. (15 points)
If driving will be at the same speed as running?
From the chart, we know that the number of motor vehicle ownership of Beijing increased from 2123 to 4019 thousands from 2003 to 2009. It shows that how fast the population increased and how fast the economic growth. And there is an interesting question: if driving will be at the same speed as running in 2015?
However, no matter how many measures will be taken, as a cosmopolitan city, Beijing's traffic condition can only ease but to solve, it depends on government's policy.
