readingreport(thesecretgarden)秘密花园英语读后感

The Secret Garden Plot In each case, the heroine of your book finds herself in unfamiliar surroundings.Describe the circumstances in which she arrived there.Mary is sent to her uncle’s manor with many gardens. The Misselthwaite Manor is so large that there is two miles of avenue to pass through a long dark vault.Passing through the vault, there is an immensely long but low-built house on a clear space. The room where Mary lives is curious and gloomy. The walls are covered with tapestry with a forest scene embroidered on it.Out of a deep window she can see a great climbing stretch of land which seems to have no trees on it and to look rather like an endless, dull sea. There are many gardens in the Misselthwaite Manor. But Mary cannot help thinking about the Garden which no one has been into for ten years. In order to find the Garden, she goes to many different gardens. The first garden which she goes to is a great garden with wide lawns, with tree, with an old gray fountain;the second garden is a kitchen garden where the vegetable and fruit growing……until she finds a garden whose door cannot open, she thinks she finds the Secret Garden. The Garden is still and almost nothing on it.All the ground is covered with grass of a wintry brown and out of it grew clumps of bushes which Mary thinks are surely rosebushes if they were alive.Mary decides to change the lifeless Garden with her efforts. Finally, she succeeds and also changes herself and other people. Choose your three favorite chapters and write a summary of them.Which chapter is impressed me firstly is in the chapter of There Is No one Left(Chapter 1).Because of the cholera, her parents and servantsare died and the few native servants who have not died also have left the house as quickly as they can.None of them even remembers that there is a Mary left. When I see Mary is left lonely, I feel so sad and sorrowful.Poor little kid!Even if Mary is a tyrannical, selfish and bad-tempered girl, she cannot have had this tragic result.I admit she is queer and odd but this is mostly due to her parents and the circumstance where she has lived. If her parents love and care about her so much and always accompany her in her childhood, maybe she will have a happy childhood and healthy personality. In a word, she just is a lonely and love-short girl.Second chapter impressed me is the chapter of “Might I Have a bit of Earth?”(Chapter 10).Why I like this chapter because I see the huge change of Mary in this chapter. What is the impression that Mary gives me most is a yellow-face, thin-body and selfish, tyrannical and bad-tempered girl. When his uncle, Mr.Craven asks her what she wanted, Mary’s answer is beyond my expectence. She just wants a bit of earth, not toys, dolls or other things. This is the answer which Mary who I know will never give.I feel Mary is unconsciously changing. What makes her change? The Secret Garden does, or in another word, the nature does. All these changes are owing to the “magic” of the Secret Garden, or of the nature. What’s more, Mary’s uncle, Mr.Craven, is first to appear on the scene.I have a good impression on him: an ugly appearance but a kind heart.Third Second chapter impressed me is the chapter of “I Shall Live Forever----and Ever----and Ever!”(Chapter 18).Collin looks forward to go the Secret Garden and in this chapter, his dream comes true. When Mary brings Collin outside, he sees the arch of it looks very high and the small snowy clouds seem like white birds floating on outspread wings below its crystalblueness. The wind sweeps in soft big breaths down from the moor and is strange with a wild clear scented sweetness. How beautiful and charming the Garden is.Collin opens his eyes wild and is absorbed by the beautiful scenery, even me-----I cannot help imaging the “magic” Garden. The “magic” Garden gives Collin energy and hopes and makes him crying out, “I shall get well!I shall get well! And I shall live forever and ever and ever”.From this, I see a boy who is healthy, happy and optimistic and totally different from what he is before.Characters Describe the heroine of your book. What is she like in terms of personality/appearance? Does she change in the course of the story, and if so, how? Give two examples of her actions that reveal her character.Mary is the heroine of the book. She is born in a wealthy family, but her parents don’t care abou t her at all.So at the beginning of the story, Mary is an unattractive, tyrannical and selfish girl whose all people don’t like or care about.I find people didn’t care about or like her which result in her bad-temper or petulance, loneliness or boredom. But after Mary is sent to England to live with her reclusive uncle, Archibald Craven, and finds the Garden, things begin to change.Mary finds the key to the Secret Garden that means she finds the key to the happiness. At last, Mary changes from a lonely, disagreeable girl to a hopeful, bright and warm girl. When his uncle, Mr.Craven asks her what she wanted, she says she just wants a bit of earth to plant something.I think this is a symbol of her changes. The action she will never do in pervious time because she is a spoiled girl who cannot do anything by herself.Due to her persistence and love, Mary turns the dead Garden into a flourishing Garden.During the period, she becomes to a nice, strong and optimistic girl. She understands the warm and happiness aboutthe world. What’s more, when she firstly meets Collin who is sad, weak and wired boy, she doesn’t laugh at him, but on the contrary, she does something for him and shares happiness and sadness with him.Mary wants to help Collin go out of the haze on her own initiative and brings hopes and light to him.So they establish their friendship which Mary has not had before.Gradually, Mary has more and more friends and people become changing because of her. Choose another character in the book that you find interesting.Explain what role he /she plays in the story.Collin, the son of Mary’s uncle, who has the same condition as Mary used to have.Collin also lives in a wealthy but unhappy family. His mother has died because of dystocia and his father doesn’t care about him.He is vulnerable and always suffering from illness.Collin always thinks he is going to have a hunchback like his father and makes himself lying on his bed for all days long, which result into his weird temper. And the servants gossip that Collin will die soon which makes Collin unhappy and does not want to go outside. He never knows what the outside world looks like. All these make his character disagreeable and distorted. Then Mary shows up and takes him to the outside world and to the Secret Garden. Finally, it turns out that the three children----Mary, Dickon and Collin-----become close friends and have wonderful time in that Garden.Mary gives light and hopes to Collin, helping him defeat and overcome his illness. At the end of the novel, the fresh air and beautiful flowers there benefits them a lot, especially Collin, who transfers into a handsome and healthy boy gradually.Themes/message The book may be giving us several different messages.Identify two messages that you think the book conveys and explain what they are.On one hand, this novel tells us something about the attitudeto life.In the novel, we can see many changes: the change of Garden itself, the change of Mary, the change of Collin, Ben and Mr.Craven.All of these changes are due to the Secret Garden. The Garden symbolized the dream and the hope.Mary finds the Garden, but actually, she fins the dream and the hope of her life.Life is so beautify and colorful like the mazing Secret Garden, so we must find and plant it the same as Mary plants seeds, makes things grow and sees them come alive in the Secret Garden. On another hand, the novel tells us family education and the environment paly essential and importance roles in kids’ lives.Firstly, parents(family education)are the decisive forces in kids’ growth.Family is the first school for kids.Parents are the first teachers, and their ways of teaching us, their concepts and their love and care may affect our whole life. Why Mary and Collin have weird temper? Because their parents don’t do a good job in their gr owth. They don’t care about them.I think this is the major factor which causes their wired temper and loneliness.Secondly, the environment has impact on the growing of kids such as the whole city’s atmosphere, the whole country’s atmosphere and the school a tmosphere. It is said that one takes on the attributes of one's associates. In the novel, the “magic” Garden and the nature change many people.09对外汉语凌丽霞 09043117第二篇:秘密花园英语读后感秘密花园英语读后感读完一篇作品,会有很多感想和体会,这就是所谓读后感。

The disease had already killed many people in the city, and in all the houses people were dying. Over night, Ma ry’s parents were died. The few servants who had not died had run away in the night. No one had remembered little Miss Mary. She was all alone in a big empty house. Several days ago, little Mary was taken to her uncle- Mr. Archibald Craven. In her uncle’s home, a little girl named Martha as her servant to help her. Martha was an enthusiasm and helpful girl. The servant girl has a little brother who named Dickon. Nobody can get in it. So, it’s a secret garden. One day, she took a walk in the ground, she found the key wonderfully. She entered the garden secretly and took care of it with Dickon. What’s more, sunshine, fresh air, flowers and grasses made Colin healthy. In the secret garden, where the roses were at their best, and the butterflies were flying from to flower in the summer sunshine, his head held high and a smile on his lips, walk young Colin. From this story, we know that good atmosphere can help a people change his outlook on life, just like Mary, Colin. Mary was a self-willed and cold child. Due to Martha and Dickon’s warmth, she changed the attitude to the life. Playing with many animals, flowers are a good way to make her health. Until one day, Mary happened found a key to the secret garden. She opened the door and entered it. It’s so bleak. After a while, M ary was determined to make this garden alive. She cut the branches and leaves and cleared them out of the garden. Sooner after, Dickon took part in her work. They became good friends. Due to exercise everyday outside, Mary run out of the thin and weak. People could hear her laughing loudly. Now Mary was an agreeable girl. As for Colin, his great change was Mary and Dickon’s contribution. Happiness can infect from one to the other.

The Secret Garden is a classic children's novel written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The story revolves around a young girl named Mary Lennox who is sent to live with her uncle in his large, mysterious estate after her parents die. The novel follows Mary as she discovers a hidden, neglected garden on the estate and works to restore it to its former glory. The Secret Garden is not just a story about a garden, but it is also a story about the power of nature, the importance of friendship, and the healing effects of love and compassion. One of the most striking aspects of The Secret Gardenis the way in which the author uses the garden as a metaphor for the human spirit. When Mary first discoversthe garden, it is overgrown and neglected, much like herown spirit. As she begins to care for the garden andnurture it back to life, she also begins to heal and growas a person. This transformation is not only physical, as the garden blooms and flourishes, but also emotional andspiritual, as Mary learns to open her heart to others and form deep, meaningful connections.Another powerful theme in The Secret Garden is the idea of the healing power of nature. The garden is not only a place of physical beauty, but it also serves as a sanctuary for the characters in the novel. As Mary, her cousin Colin, and their friend Dickon spend time in the garden, they are able to escape from their troubles and find peace and solace in the natural world. This idea is particularly relevant in today's fast-paced, technology-driven society, where many people are disconnected from nature and its calming, rejuvenating effects. The Secret Garden also explores the importance of friendship and human connection. Mary, Colin, and Dickon form a deep bond as they work together to care for the garden, and their friendship becomes a source of strength and support for each of them. Through their shared experiences in the garden, they learn valuable lessons about empathy, kindness, and the importance of reaching out to others in times of need. This message of friendship andconnection is a timeless one, and it resonates with readers of all ages.In addition to its themes of nature, healing, and friendship, The Secret Garden also offers a rich and vivid portrayal of the English countryside. The descriptions of the garden and its surroundings are lush and evocative, transporting readers to a world of natural beauty and wonder. Through her detailed and immersive writing, Burnett invites readers to experience the sights, sounds, and scents of the garden, creating a sensory experience that is both enchanting and memorable.Overall, The Secret Garden is a timeless and deeply moving novel that continues to captivate readers of all ages. Its themes of nature, healing, friendship, and the power of the human spirit are as relevant today as they were when the book was first published. Through the story of Mary and the secret garden, Frances Hodgson Burnett reminds us of the importance of connecting with nature, nurturing our relationships with others, and finding hope and renewal in the most unexpected places. This is a bookthat speaks to the heart and soul, and its message of love, compassion, and resilience is one that will continue to inspire readers for generations to come.。

I recently read "The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett and I must say, it was a delightful read. The story is set in England and revolves around a young girl named Mary who discovers a hidden garden on her uncle's estate. The descriptions of the garden are so vivid and enchanting that I felt like I was right there with Mary, exploring its hidden corners and discovering its secrets. The characters in the book are also very well-developed. Mary starts off as a spoiled and selfish girl, but as she spends more time in the garden, she undergoes a transformation and becomes kinder and more compassionate. Colin, her cousin, is initially portrayed as a weak and sickly boy, but with the help of the garden, he gains strength and learns to believe in himself. The relationship between Mary, Colin, and the garden is beautifullyportrayed and it was heartwarming to see how they all grew and flourished together. One of the things that struck me about the book was the emphasis on the healing power of nature. The garden is described as a place of magic and rejuvenation, where both the body and the soul can find solace. It reminded me of the importance of spending time outdoors and connecting with nature in our own lives. In today's fast-paced and technology-driven world, it's easy to forget the simple pleasures that can be found in a garden or a park.Another aspect of the book that I enjoyed was the portrayal of friendship. Mary forms a close bond with a boy named Dickon, who has a deep connection with animals and nature. Their friendship is based on mutual respect and shared interests, and it was refreshing to see a portrayal of friendship that wasn't centered around material possessions or social status. It reminded me of the value of true friendship and the importance of surrounding ourselves with people who bring out the best in us.Overall, "The Secret Garden" is a timeless classic that reminds us of the beauty and magic that can be found in the world around us. It teaches us the importance of kindness, compassion, and the healing power of nature. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to escape into a world of enchantment and rediscover the joy of simple pleasures.。

The secret gardenThe Secret GardenThe mysterious things always draw my attention. The reason why I choose this book is the name of it.‘The Secret Garden’, it lets me feel interested and curious.I like reading books that are adventurous and beautiful and peaceful. When I finished the book I felt everything is possible and life need us to explore.Whether magic exists or not, I just can say ‘if you believe, you do.’The book was written by an American writer. This book is suited for children, but also adults. It is not a long novel. There are just twenty seven chapters here;it is easy to finish it in several days. And I have finished it.I divide it to three parts: 1, bad Mary.2, transformation of Mary.3, Mary’s influence. And I pretend to write about how Mary’s characters forming, the reason why it be that and the influence between people, the nature’s influence to people. In the book, there are just several roles and Mary is the main person. We follow her and will find everything.Mary was a child who had a rich family but no love from her parents. Her father just did his job and her mother just went out to take part in serious parties.Servants were around her to serve her and just did what she asked. All of this kind of condition created her characteristics, selfish, disagreeable and bad-tempered.So when the disease came, Mary just hid herself in her bedroom and nobody noticed her until the two men came. She had not felt sad when she learned that her parents were dead. Then she was send to an English family. Here, she just lived the same life like before, no one cared her. Then she got toknow she would come to live with her uncle who she did not know before. Her new life started.Martha, the servant, was the first one who took care of Mary from a normal level, told her truth abouthow to live a life. She was a simple, kind, friendly, broad-minded, positive and having faith in life person. She ignored Mary’s poignant words, just regarding h er as a naughty child and trying to help her.Martha delivered positive attitude the Mary;‘that’s because you do not like it, you will like it.I love it.It’s lovely in spring and summer where there are flowers. It always smells so sweet, the air’s so fresh, and the birds sing so beautiful.I never want to leave the moor.’ Thought at the beginning, Mary presented not to listen, but Martha always became kind and friendly to talk about her families and stories happened besides her to Mary.Mary heard these interesting things so that become interested in the life in the moor and started to go out. Then she met the robin, Ben Weatherstaff. The robin leaded Mary to have a good relationship with Ben and help Mary find the key and the door of the secret garden.Mary owned herself a garden, the garden no one knows it in the ten years.Dickon was a boy who neared to nature. He could talk with animals and liked to help Mary and Colin. He was a happy boy, just like a sun.Mr.Craven lived a bed life in the last life.He could not forget his young wife and hated everything else, including his son, Colin.Colin was a strange boy, created by the unusual situation, mom dead, father did not like him and nobody help him, afraid to be crooked and dead. But Mary came in his life and brought the light to his dark life, got him out of the dark hell.Mary gave him the hope and interests to life. Then in the secret garden, they all became happier and healthier.Andbecause of the influence of these children, Mr.Craven becomes happier again. They just like the fresh air, the green shoots, spring. There is no ending, but from the whole passage you can image the future how beauty is it.There are many truth there, some easy to be ignore but exist every where in our daily life, like the parents’ responsibility. We can research much knowledge from the content.Little marry was just a child who needed adults to teach, to guild. But in her childhood living with her parents, no one wanted to teach her or did not know how to guide. So she just did what she wanted and thought. So the reason why Mary became a ‘bad’ child is her parents had not done their duty that taught their child. Then, when Mary met Martha who was just a servant, Mary began to change.Martha played a role of mother, she taught Mary how to live a life and how to become a normal child according the experience that learned from her mother and brother and other people who lived around her.Mary changed little by little in the guide of Martha’s words. And when she recognized the robin and Ben Weatherstaff, she had become a natural child and knew how to communicate with others. That is a turning point. Then the content described the process that how Mary started to change others, from Colin to Ben Weatherstaff to Mr.Craven.She used what she learned from nature and Martha to teach Colin and pull Colin out of his black life.Ben Weatherstaff was changed by the result of what Mary did, from a dissocial man to a normal man.And I thought the man liked Colin’s mother, so when she died he became an unhappy man who just did what he should do and no bright in his heart. In this story, Colin’s mother’s death brought shadow to all the people in the town, Mary let brought bright into their world. All of these proved that people influence each other and happy can deliver to the peoplearound.Thought there is no a direct ending, but we can image the beatific life in their future.Just like these children thought the garden has magic.

The Secret Garden is a classic novel written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It tells the story of Mary Lennox, a young girl who is sent to live with her uncle after her parents die in a cholera outbreak in India. The novel follows Mary as she discovers a hidden garden on her uncle's estate and transforms it into a beautiful and magical place. One of the most striking aspects of The Secret Gardenis its exploration of the power of nature and the healing properties of the natural world. As Mary spends time in the garden, she begins to heal from the trauma of losing her parents and the neglect she suffered in her early years. The garden becomes a symbol of renewal and transformation, not just for Mary, but for the other characters in the novel as well. The novel also delves into the theme of the power of friendship and human connection. As Mary discovers the garden, she meets and befriends a young boy named Colin whois also living on the estate. Through their friendship, both Mary and Colin are able to overcome their own personal struggles and find a sense of belonging and purpose. The Secret Garden is a beautifully written and timeless story that continues to resonate with readers of all ages. Its themes of healing, renewal, and the power of friendship are universal and speak to the human experience in a profound way. The novel is a reminder of the importance of connecting with nature and with others, and the transformative power of these connections.Personally, I found The Secret Garden to be a deeply moving and thought-provoking novel. The way in which the author weaves together the themes of nature, friendship, and healing is both poignant and inspiring. Thedescriptions of the garden are so vivid and evocative that I felt as though I was right there with Mary as she uncovered its secrets and watched it come to life. The characters in the novel are also incredibly well-developed and relatable. Mary, Colin, and the otherinhabitants of the estate all have their own personal struggles and challenges, and it is gratifying to see them grow and change as they spend time in the garden. Their journeys are a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the capacity for transformation and growth.Overall, The Secret Garden is a novel that has left a lasting impression on me. Its themes of nature, friendship, and healing are timeless and continue to hold relevance in today's world. The novel serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of connecting with the natural world and with others, and the profound impact that these connections can have on our lives. I would highly recommend The Secret Garden to readers of all ages, as it is a story that has the power to touch the hearts of anyone who encounters it.。

The Secret GardenPlot•In each case, the heroine of your book finds herself in unfamiliar surroundings. Describe the circumstances in which she arrived there.Mary i s sent to her uncle’s manor with many gardens. The Misselthwaite Manor is so large that there is two miles of avenue to pass through a long dark vault. Passing through the vault, there is an immensely long but low-built house on a clear space. The room where Mary lives is curious and gloomy. The walls are covered with tapestry with a forest scene embroidered on it. Out of a deep window she can see a great climbing stretch of land which seems to have no trees on it and to look rather like an endless, dull sea. There are many gardens in the Misselthwaite Manor. But Mary cannot help thinking about the Garden which no one has been into for ten years. In order to find the Garden, she goes to many different gardens. The first garden which she goes to is a great garden with wide lawns, with tree, with an old gray fountain; the second garden is a kitchen garden where the vegetable and fruit growing……until she f inds a garden whose door cannot open, she thinks she finds the Secret Garden. The Garden is still and almost nothing on it. All the ground is covered with grass of a wintry brown and out of it grew clumps of bushes which Mary thinks are surely rosebushes if they were alive. Mary decides to change the lifeless Garden with her efforts. Finally, she succeeds and also changes herself and other people.• Choose your three favorite chapters and write a summary of them.Which chapter is impressed me firstly is in the chapter of There Is No one Left (Chapter 1). Because of the cholera, her parents and servants are died and the few native servants who have not died also have left the house as quickly as they can. None of them even remembers that there is a Mary left. When I see Mary is left lonely, I feel so sad and sorrowful. Poor little kid! Even if Mary is a tyrannical, selfish and bad-tempered girl, she cannot have had this tragic result. I admit she is queer and odd but this is mostly due to her parents and the circumstance where she has lived. If her parents love and care about her somuch and always accompany her in her childhood, maybe she will have a happy childhood and healthy personality. In a word, she just is a lonely and love-short girl.Second chapter impressed me is the chapter of “Might I Have a bit of Earth?” (Chapter 10).Why I like this chapter because I see the huge change of Mary in this chapter. What is the impression that Mary gives me most is a yellow-face, thin-body and selfish, tyrannical and bad-tempered girl. When his uncle, Mr. Craven asks her what she wanted, Mary’s answer is beyond my expectence. She just wants a bit of earth, not toys, dolls or other things. This is the answer which Mary who I know will never give. I feel Mary is unconsciously changing. What makes her change? The Secret Garden does, or in another word, the nature does. All these changes are owing to the “magic” of the Secret Garden, or of the nature. What’s more, Mary’s uncle, Mr. Craven, is first to appear on the scene. I have a good impression on him: an ugly appearance but a kind heart.Third Second chapter impressed me is the chapter of “I Shall Live Forever---- and Ever----and Ever!” (Chapter 18). Collin looks forward to go the Secret Garden and in this chapter, his dream comes true. When Mary brings Collin outside, he sees the arch of it looks very high and the small snowy clouds seem like white birds floating on outspread wings below its crystal blueness. The wind sweeps in soft big breaths down from the moor and is strange with a wild clear scented sweetness. How beautiful and charming the Garden is. Collin opens his eyes wild and is absorbed by the beautiful scenery, even me ----- I cannot help imaging the “magic” G arden. The “magic” Garden gives Collin energy and hopes and makes him crying out, “I shall get well! I shall get well! And I shall live for ever and ever and ever”. From this, I s ee a boy who is healthy, happy and optimistic and totally different from what he is before.CharactersDescribe the heroine of your book. What is she like in terms of personality/appearance? Does she change in the course of the story, and if so, how? Give two examples of her actions that reveal her character.Mary is the heroine of the book. She is born in a wealthy family, but her parents do n’tcare about her at all. So at the beginning of the story, Mary is an unattractive, tyrannical and selfish girl whose all people do n’t like or care about. I find people didn’t care about or like her which result in her bad-temper or petulance, loneliness or boredom. But after Mary is sent to England to live with her reclusive uncle, Archibald Craven, and finds the Garden, things begin to change. Mary finds the key to the Secret Garden that means she finds the key to the happiness. At last, Mary changes from a lonely, disagreeable girl to a hopeful, bright and warm girl. When his uncle, Mr. Craven asks her what she wanted, she says she just wants a bit of earth to plant something. I think this is a symbol of her changes. The action she will never do in pervious time because she is a spoiled girl who cannot do anything by herself. Due to her persistence and love, Mary turns the dead Garden into a flourishing Garden. During the period, she becomes to a nice, strong and optimistic girl. She understands the warm and happiness about the world. What’s more, w hen she firstly meets Collin who is sad, weak and wired boy, she does n’t laugh at him, but on the contrary, she d oes something for him and shares happiness and sadness with him. Mary wants to help Collin go out of the haze on her own initiative and brings hopes and light to him. So they establish their friendship which Mary has not had before. Gradually, Mary has more and more friends and people become changing because of her.Choose another character in the book that you find interesting. Explain what role he /she plays in the story.Collin, the son of Mary’s uncle, who ha s the same condition as Mary used to have. Collin also lives in a wealthy but unhappy family. His mother has died because of dystocia and his father doesn’t care about him. He is vulnerable and always suffering from illness. Collin always thinks he is going to have a hunchback like his father and makes himself lying on his bed for all days long, which result into his weird temper. And the servants gossip that Collin will die soon which makes Collin unhappy and does not want to go outside. He never knows what the outside world looks like. All these make his character disagreeable and distorted. Then Mary shows up and takes him to the outside world and to the Secret Garden. Finally, it turns out that the three children----Mary, Dickon and Collin-----become closefriends and have wonderful time in that Garden. Mary gives light and hopes to Collin, helping him defeat and overcome his illness. At the end of the novel, the fresh air and beautiful flowers there benefits them a lot, especially Collin, who transfers into a handsome and healthy boy gradually.Themes/messageThe book may be giving us several different messages. Identify two messages that you think the book conveys and explain what they are.On one hand, this novel tells us something about the attitude to life. In the novel, we can see many changes: the change of Garden itself, the change of Mary, the change of Collin, Ben and Mr. Craven. All of these changes are due to the Secret Garden. The Garden symbolized the dream and the hope. Mary finds the Garden, but actually, she fins the dream and the hope of her life. Life is so beautify and colorful like the mazing Secret Garden, so we must find and plant it the same as Mary plants seeds, makes things grow and sees them come alive in the Secret Garden. On another hand, the novel tells us family education and the environment paly essential and importance roles in kids’ lives. Firstly, parents (family education) are the decisive forces in kids’ growth. Family is the first school for kids. Parents are the first teachers, and their ways of teaching us, their concepts and their love and care may affect our whole life. Why Mary and Collin have weird temper? Because their parents don’t do a good job in their growth. They don’t care about them. I think this is the major factor which causes their wired temper and loneliness. Secondly, the environment has impact on the growing of kids such as the whole city’s atmosphere, the whole country’s atmosphere and the school atmosphere. It is said that one takes on the attributes of one's associates. In the novel, the “magic” Garden and the nature change many people.09对外汉语凌丽霞09043117。

As she learns to tend to the garden, Mary's own growth and transformation mirror the revival of the garden itself. One of the key themes of the novel is the healing power of nature. The garden serves as a metaphor for the process of personal growth and spiritual renewal. An Optimistic Attitude Towards Life-----The book report of “The Secret Garden”The Secret Garden is a novel written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The novel mainly tells a 11-year old girl Mary and her friend Dickon find out the secret of the deserted garden and make it back to life later. It is the time when Mary lives in her uncle’s manor that she gets to know Dickon and change her own disagreeable character into kind one. Besides, Mary not only help her cousin regain the hope of life, but also reunite he and his father. As a matter of fact, this novel has been being hugely popular among children. In America many teachers prefer to taking it as their teaching material. What contributes to this is its common and vivid words , rich ideas and wonderful plot twists and turns. Moreover, when readers get to know the friendship, determination and perseverance revealing in the book, probably they wi ll become apprehensive of the significance of one’s attitude towards life. Whether the life is good or miserable is bound up with one’s attitude. The Secret Garden brings home to me that I must attach more importance to the positive attitude in my life. Perhaps, there is a secret garden there. When I am indulging in the depression and unhappiness, I may lose the key to my secret garden. However, I do enjoy the scenery of the garden as I am optimistic and keep moving in the pursuit of hope.。

After reading "The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett, I am filled with a sense of wonder and awe at the power of nature and the human spirit. This timeless classic tells the story of Mary Lennox, a young girl who is orphaned and sent to live with her reclusive uncle in a large, mysterious mansion on the Yorkshire moors. At the beginning of the story, Mary is a spoiled and sour-tempered child, but as she explores the grounds of her new home, she discovers a hidden garden that has been locked and neglected for years. With the help of a kind-hearted servant boy named Dickon and her sickly cousin Colin, Mary begins to restore the garden to its former glory, and in the process, she also begins to heal herself and those around her.One of the most striking aspects of "The Secret Garden" is the way in which the natural world is portrayed as a source of healing and renewal. As Mary spends time in thegarden, she becomes more and more connected to the earthand the plants around her, and this connection brings her a sense of peace and purpose that she has never known before. The garden becomes a metaphor for the human soul, and its transformation from a neglected, overgrown wasteland to a vibrant, thriving paradise mirrors the transformation that takes place within Mary and the other characters.Another theme that resonated with me is the idea of the power of positive thinking and the importance of having a sense of purpose. When Mary first arrives at Misselthwaite Manor, she is bitter and resentful, but as she becomes involved in the restoration of the garden, she begins tosee the world in a new light. She learns that by focusingon the beauty and potential around her, she can bring about positive change not only in her surroundings but also in herself. This message is a powerful reminder of the importance of optimism and resilience, even in the face of adversity. Finally, "The Secret Garden" is a story about the transformative power of love and friendship. As Mary, Colin, and Dickon work together to bring the garden back to life, they form a deep bond that helps them to overcome their own personal struggles and find joy and fulfillment in each other's company. The novel celebrates the idea that by reaching out to others and offering support and understanding, we can all grow and flourish, just like the garden itself. In conclusion, "The Secret Garden" is a timeless and enchanting story that continues to captivate readers of all ages. Its themes of nature, renewal, and the resilience of the human spirit are as relevant today as they were when the book was first published in 1911. As I closed the final pages, I felt a renewed sense of hope and optimism, and a deep appreciation for the beauty and wonder of the natural world. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is in need of a little inspiration and a reminder of the power of love and friendship.。

The Secret Garden
By Frances Hodgson Burnett Frances Hodgson Burnett was born in Manchester in 1849. Later on, she moved to Tennessee with her family.
The secret garden was published in 1911 and soon became the bestseller at that time. What’s more, it’s adapted to several films, TV program and drama. It’s even included in students’textbooks, influencing a great many of teenagers.
Mary Lennox, an infant from India, moved into his uncle’s house because her parents died of infection in India. She was very handsome but lack of maternity. She always went out to enjoy herself in parties rather than care for Mary. Thus, Mary was brought up slim and ugly, not having too much care. What’s worse, because all the servants had to obey her, she cultivated self-egoism, making herself hatred by everyone. Even when her parents died, nobody cared about her and ran away without notice that she would be an infant ever since. Fortunately, Mary had an uncle who was willing to take his responsibility to raise her and she was brought to his splendid house where there were hundreds of rooms and several fascinating gardens. When Mary reached her uncle’s house, she was an ugly and displeasing girl, caring little about others and always feeling superior to others. She was left alone in the house without anyone to amuse her, therefore, she went out to play in the gardens, where she found the key to the secret garden with the guide of a bird called Robin, which had been locked for 10 years and no one was ever in it. The scene in the secret garden fascinated her. Being deserted for about 10 years, it’s lifeless except for some lively green leaves. Later on, longing to plant some flowers in the garden, she asked Dickson to bring her some seeds and Dickson was such a helpful boy that he not only brought the seeds but also offered to help Mary with her garden. They soon became much closed friends and Dickson was such an animal-loved and innocent boy that he had a great influence on Mary. Since then, Mary turned better and more loving. One night, it so happened that Mary was cooped up in the boring house because of the raged rain and thus, she explored the mysterious house and suddenly came across a strange boy, Collin, who was actually her cousin. Collin always thought he was going to have a hunchback and made himself lying on his bed for all days long, which also resulted into his weird temper. Fortunately, they both got along quite well with each other and soon became very good friends. Later on, Collin was so fascinated with Mary’s description of the secret garden that soon he was tempted to hang out with her in the garden. Finally, it turned out that the three children became closed friends and had wonderful time in that garden. What’s more, the fresh air there benefits them a lot, especially Collin, who transferred into a handsome and healthy boy gradually. It seemed there’s magic in that garden that Collin’s father dreamed of the secret garden and thought of Collin in a flash, his heart flowing with love. When he came back from European continent, he stepped on the path to the secret garden, finding his boy become such a strong and sharp teenager. He smiled.
The secret garden, dedicated to the children, reminded me of my childhood in the countryside, where I often hung out with my friends in the field, playing and shouting. It has been a long time that I stay away from nature, suffocating myself with fumes and dusts in this metro city. Fortunately, university campus is such a beautiful and peaceful place that I enjoy staying here. I have to make the most of my four years in this university, struggling to realize my dream. After I graduate, I have to work for full time, which means a busy life in front of me. This novel warns me that no matter how busy I am later, I shall spare sometime to chase my interests hither and
thither.
This novel coincides with the movie Peter Pan, striking my heart with its description of our wonderful but lost childhood. However, I will never feel depressed, because in my heart there is still a secret garden, blooming and thriving.
