Folklore is a total goth-folk album of famous country singer and songwriter Taylor Swift, mostly acoustic guitar and piano, largely in collaboration with the National’s Aaron Dessner. It has 16 songs on the standard edition and was released on July 24th, 2020. “The Lakes” was the bonus track included in the physical deluxe edition. No pop songs in this album at all. It’s as far beyond Lover as Lover was beyond Reputation. She’s always relished her dramatic creative zigzags, but this is easily her most audacious move, full of story-telling depth she’s never come close to before. Some of us have spent years dreaming Taylor would do a whole album like this, but nobody really dreamed it would turn out this great. Her greatest album — so far.Folklore really feels like the debut album of a whole new Swift — her narrative scope has opened up, with a wide-ranging cast of characters for 17 songs, without a dud. Yet youcan still hear that this is the same songwriter who dropped “Last Kiss” on the world 10 years ago.Taylor Swift left her comfort zones behind in the head-spinning andheartbreaking Folklore. Her eighth album is a radical detour into the deepest collection of songs she’s ever come up with.

Natural resources are things that are useful to people and come from the earth. Materials for building houses are natural resources. So are foods, such as fruits, vegetables, animals that could be caught or hunted and water. The weather and land forms let certain things grow in different areas. They also determine(决定)which living things will be able to grow there. Areas with very rich soil are made to be good farming communities. Poor soil may send farmers to look for better places. However, areas with poor soil may attract those who have other purposes for the land. Poor soil doesn’t matter if you want to build a factory. It also doesn’t matter if it grows grass well. Each area attracts people based on their interests and purposes. Areas that support many different interests will naturally have larger populations. You may not think of the mountains, lakes or oceans as natural resources. In fact they are. Villages and cities built near water sources have been the most successful. People who want to catch fish for a living choose to live by the ocean, instead of the desert. People living near water can use it to meet their daily needs.Places that are difficult to reach will naturally have fewer people. Places that are high on mountain tops are not very desirable to most people. Neither are places that are in the middle of hot, dry deserts. For too long, humans have destroyed resources. We have been using up those that can’t be easily replaced.Renewable(可再生的) resources are those that can be replaced easily. We are lucky to have many resources that are renewable, such as the sun, wind, water and trees. We need to use more renewable resources. This will protect our planet.1.Areas with very rich soil can be used as_______.A.fishing places B.ranching placesC.a factory D.farming communities2.What does the third paragraph mainly tell us?A.What people living near water live on except fishing.B.How big villages and cities by the oceans come out.C.People choose places to live according to interests and purposes.D.People don’t live in places that are difficult to reach.3.Which of the following does NOT belong to natural resources?A.Animals that could be caught. But it is difficult for engineers to create humor (幽默) in machines. Computer scientists have hoped to help them understand humor. But they failed again and again. Why is it so difficult?Kiki, a computer language expert (专家), studies humor at a university. “Most robots are powered by artificial intelligence (人工智能AI). But AI will never understand jokes like humans do.” He said, “The main problem is that AI system doesn’t have the sense of humor.”Other experts agree that context (语境) is very important to understand humor, both for humans and robots. In one project, Tristan Miller, a computer scientist, studied more than 10, 000 puns. Puns are a kind of joke that uses a word with two meanings. For example, you could say, “Balloons (气球) do not like pop music.” The word “pop” can be a way of saying popular music, or “pop” can be the sound a balloon makes when it explodes (爆炸). “A robot might not understand the joke because it doesn’t know the meaning of the puns.” Miller sa id.Although it’s difficult, some scientists say there are good reasons to keep trying to teach humor to robots. It can make machines understand humans better and serve humans better. And it can also help them to think more like humans. But other scientis ts don’t think it’s a good idea to teach humor to robots. They may find humor, but they may use itin a wrong way. Maybe bad AI will start killing people because it thinks it is funny. Besides, it may make some people feel not safe. The comedians (喜剧演员) may lose their jobs when the robots can understand humor.1.Kiki is an expert who studies ______ at a university.A.humans B.humor C.AI system D.robots2.What does the underlined word "pun" mean in Paragraph 3?A.语言B.笑话C.双关语D.同义词3.From the passage, we know that ______.A.AI system has the sense of humorB.context is very important to understand humor only for humansC.if robots understand humor, they can’t serve humans betterD.some scientist think it’s good to teach robots humor but others don’t4.If we put the passage into three parts, which of the following is the best?1 ②=Para. 2 ③=Para. 3 ④=Para. 4 ⑤=Para.5)A.①;②③④;⑤B.①;②③;④⑤C.①②;③④;⑤D.①②;③;④E17、In the middle of a really embarrassing moment, you might feel like you just want to disappear. Maybe you wish for a time machine that could send you back five minutes. Well, time machines are hard to come by in the real world, so finding a better way of getting through the humiliation(蒙羞的场面) is needed.Sometimes, embarrassment is caused by how we act after we make an unwanted thing. If the thing is a small one, you can just pretend it didn't happen, and many people won’t notice. On the other hand, if you stop, or get red in the face after you've messed up, people will really notice, and it will be hard to let the moment pass by. Of course, some embarrassing moments are too big or obvious for this plan to work.Sometimes when you meet or get caught in a really cringe-worthy(尴尬的) moment, it doesn't seem funny. Other people may laugh, but you just get red in the face and feel like curling up in a ball of shame. But there are some people who can laugh at their own mistakes. When they mess up, they laugh harder than their friends do! People likethisdon't stay embarrassed for long, because this can turn into another funny story. They might even make a joke about their mistake before anyone else gets the chance to.You shouldn't pretend a laugh if you really feel angry or embarrassed, but changing your attitude or outlook might be worth trying. Remember that a thing that makes you embarrassed today will probably make you laugh tomorrow. So why not try to laugh today?根据材料内容选择最佳答案,将其标号填入题前括号内。

Every weekend, my friends and I would pack our bags and head to the lakeside for a day of fun and adventure. As soon as we arrive, we are greeted by the breathtaking view of the sparkling water and the lush greenery that surrounds the lake. The air is fresh and invigorating, and the sound of birds chirping adds to the peaceful atmosphere. We can't help but feel a sense of calm and tranquility wash over us.One of our favorite activities at the lakeside is to go for a boat ride. We rent a small rowboat and take turns rowing out into the middle of the lake. The gentle swaying ofthe boat and the rhythmic sound of the oars dipping into the water is incredibly soothing. We would spend hours out on the water, chatting and laughing as we soak up the serenity of the surroundings.Aside from boating, we also love to have a picnic by the lakeside. We would spread out a checkered blanket and unpack our homemade sandwiches, fresh fruits, and snacks. The combination of good food and great company makes the experience all the more enjoyable. We would savor every bite, all the while taking in the stunning views around us.In addition to these activities, we also love to take long walks along the lake shore. The path is lined with tall trees and colorful flowers, and the occasional sighting of a playful squirrel or a graceful swan never fails to bring a smile to our faces. There is something magical about being so close to nature and feeling like a part of it.As the day draws to a close, we would make our way back home, feeling rejuvenated and grateful for the time we spent at our paradise by the lake. The Lake House is a 2006 American romantic drama film remake of the South Korean motion picture Il Mare (2000). It is written by David Auburn, directed by Alejandro Agresti, producted by Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc, and starred by Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock as Alex Wyler and Kate Forster, respectively an architect living in 2004 and a doctor living in 2006. The two meet via letters left in a mailbox at the lake house, they have both lived in at separate points of time; remaining separated by their original difference of two years. In 2006, Dr. Kate Forster was leaving the lake house that she had been renting in suburban Wisconsin to move to Chicago. She left a note in the mailbox for the next tenant to forward her letters should some slip through the system, further adding that the paint-embedded pawprints on the walkway leading into the house were already there when she arrived. On the other side, in 2004, Alex Wyler, an architect, arrived at the lake house and found Kate's letter in the mailbox. The house was neglected, with no sign of pawprints anywhere. As Alex restored the house, a dog ran through his paint and left fresh pawprints right where Kate said they would be. they carry on correspondence via the mailbox, and then, they discovered a series problem: they were living exactly two years apart. Over a period of time writing to each other, they began to look for the chance to meet each other because of the increasingly deeper love.A magical mailbox and a lovely dog built a brige between the hearts in the different two years of the same spot. From this wondrously illogical time-travel romance, my understanding about the love gets deeper.About love, the story shows us that love needs a proper pace and also carefulness. First of all, love needs enthusiasm. Alex took Kate on a walking tour of his favorite places in Chicago via an annotated map that he left in the mailbox. “Kate, I'm here with you. Thanks for the lovely Saturday together.”It is the words which was wrote by Alex on the wall and also a passionate microcosm from Alex to Kate. In addition, love needs wait. The last scrip which Kate wrote to Alex said: “Please don't go, just wait. I love you, and if you still care for me, wait for me, wait with me. Just wait, wait. Wait two years, Alex. Come to the Lake House, I'm here.” If Alex was drunk with irrationality, if he can’t stand the lonliness, if he still stubbornly tried to find her, he would lost his life and their love together. Moreover, love requires carefulness. At the beginning of the story, Kate once said to a little patient: “if a women is not careful, she could spend the whole life waiting.”Fortunately, they were both careful. The tree which was transplanted by Alex instantly turned into a shelter for Kate who was messed in the rain. This plot moved me the most. The delicate love and tacit understanding between them are the most charming things in this world.Besides the emotions which the film gives to me, I still have three reasons to recommend this movie to you. Firstly, it is notable mainly for reuniting Keanu Reeves an d Sandra Bullock, who together survived a harrowing bus ride in “Speed”. That was 12 years ago and since then they have been on their separate movie-star ways. So while the general public have clamored for their reunion for several years, “The Lake House”a ppeared. Also, the background music is wonderful enough. It is dubbed by Rachel Portman, who is still the first and also the only woman winning the Oscar award in the dubbing field. The last and the most important reason I appreciate it is the background of the lake house. In fact, the glass box in the film is called Farnsworth House which is designed by a great modernist architect, master Smith (1949-1951). The house is designed for his beloved woman- -the female doctor, Eddie. What we see in the film, is the glass curtain wall, white steel structure and 8 root steel columns which support the whole construction. It is so simple, as the perfect love.It is a regret that this movie has loopholes in the time order, and even in some details and plot arrangement, which makes it unconvincing in some aspect. But in this film, the clear sunlight, the warm afternoon and the breeze around the lake house, make audience feel calm and pleasant. Although it isn’t producted in a big budget, its delicate emotions makes us feel like taking a small sip of tea on the riverside.。
