strike v.意为“爆发;撞去”。

如:
The stone struck him on the back.那块石头砸在他背上。

【2】I’m very sorry to hear that.听到那个消息,我很悲伤。

be sorry to do sth.做某事很抱歉。

如:
I’m sorry to break your glasses.我很抱歉打碎你的眼镜。

【3】How can we protect ourselves from earthquakes?我们应当怎样保护自己免受地震的伤害呢?
protect sb. from sth.保护某人免受某物的伤害。

也可以表达为:protect sb. against sth.。

如:
They ran into the room to protect themselves from/against the wind.他们跑进屋里,免受风吹。

out of (从……里)出来;没有,缺少。

如:
Don’t put your hand out of the window when you take a bus.坐公交车时,不要把手伸窗外。

We are out of water.我们没有水了。

【5】The most important thing is to stay calm. 最重要的事情就是保持镇静。

to stay calm为动词不定式短语作表语。

如:
In winter, the most interesting sport is to make snowmen.冬天,最有趣的活动就是堆雪人。

【6】Knowing some ways to protect yourself will help to keep you safe in an earthquake. 了解一些保护自己的方法将有助于你在地震中安然无恙。

(1) knowing some ways to protect yourself 是动名词短语,在句中作主语。

如:
Doing more exercise is good for your health.多做运动对你的健康有好处。

(2)to protect yourself为词不定式短语作定语,修饰ways。

如:
There isn’t enough space to live in on the island. 这个小岛上已没有足够的生
存空间。

【7】Stay away from windows, tall furniture and pictures or anything that may fall on you.远离窗户、高的家具和照片或任何可能砸中你的东西。

stay away (from sb./sth.)离开;不接近(某人/某物)。

如:
Please stay away from the clog.不要接近狗。

with the help of sb.在某人的帮助下。

如:

I worked out the math problem with the help of my teacher.在老师的帮助下,我解决了这个数学难题。
