P2Describe a popular person. You should say:Who this person isWhat kind of person he or she isWhy this person is popularAnd explain how this person influences the publicP31.What are the qualities of being popular?2.Do you know any pop star who really likes helping others?3.Do you think children should imitate their idols?4.What influences do pop stars have on teenagers?5.Do you think pop stars have more freedom or less freedom?

Speaking of a popular person I know, the first name that comes to my mind is David Beckham. So today, I will be talking about him, a well-known celebrity not only in his country UK, but also around the whole world.David Beckham was born in Leytonstone, London in the year1975. He is most widely known as one of UK’s greatest footballers. He played football for the England National team from 1996 to 2009, and also worked for some other famous football clubs like the Manchester United and Real Madrid. As a professional player, he became an icon of football around the world at a young age and is now probably one of the most esteemed sports celebrities alive. He is a legendary footballer who has a unique style in his bending free-kicks as a right winger. In 2004, David Beckham was listed in the FIFA's 100 greatest living players in the world. He was twice the runner-up for 'FIFA World Player of the Year’. These statistics are to signify how popular he is. By the way, he became one of the highest paid footballers in the world back in 2013, from which you can tell how much people love him. When it comes to the reasons why Beckham is so popular, first thing I have to say, is that he truly is an extraordinary football player. I’ve always been a fan of the UK football team, and Beckham was the footballer I most wanted to learn from back in high school. Besides, he’s also a fashion icon among the young, always displaying great tastes of clothing. Another important factor that makes him so popular I guess, is his efforts put in charity. He has been a UNICEF ambassador for a long period of time, founder of The David Beckham UNICEF Fund, and his recent philanthropic works also turned out to be quite exceptional. As a successful football player, Beckham, along with his teammates, has made a hit among football fans around the world, attracting more people to explore this exciting sport. In the meantime, his endeavors into improving the quality of children’s life in undeveloped countries, also helped a lot in drawing people’s at tention to this severe problem. Tips for answering this cue card topic about a person you respect or admire:You can talk about one of your relatives who is is a senior citizen like your grandfather, grandmother. She has an attractive face and looks younger than her age. She has round face, big eyes, and beautiful eyelashes. She likes wearing casual clothes unless she’s at work when she normally wears lady’s formal wear.My mother works as an accountant in a trade company. She studied accounting at Fudan University and she has always been working as an account since graduation. She’s warm-hearted, open-minded, and always willing to help other people who are in need of help. Although she’s not a young lady anymore, she’s very willing and ready to accept new things. She likes singing, dancing, watching movies, reading, planting flowers at home. She is also a big sports fan, I mean, she likes playing badminton, jogging, cycling. I guess that’s the reason why she is still in very good shape at 55 years old.I think what makes me love my mother the most is that she is so dedicated to the family, that is, she loves my father and me so much. No matter how tired she is after working for a long day, or how many frustrations she has faced herself at work, when she comes back home from her office, she becomes very happy straightaway when seeing my father and me. I guess she has given me so many suppo rts in so many ways…for example, telling me not to give up when I failed to get into university, encouraging me to be a strong person when I didn’t do well in my job interviews, etc. With her blessing, I learnt my way to grow up and finally reach where I am today.I think she’s the most important person in my life. I am very proud of my mother and I love her. I feel so lucky to such a great mother.I wish I could say there was one person that I admire the most, but truth us there are more than one. One person that comes to mind the most beleive it or not is Angelina Jolie. A celebirty is a funny one to admire... But what i admire of her is the dedication that she has to the causes that are true to her. Now that can mean anything and some people might say that she is just another celebirty in search of recognition. But what I see is someone that has used her celebrity for the betterment of others in ways that are more than superficial. Unlike Madonna and others she has worked hard and has spent days at a time if not weeks in places like a fganistan and Leone for her cause. She has given without condition and as a result of it has given a home to children that otherwise would not have another chance. So I admire her as a true humanitarian. If fame follows her it is truely because we cannot get enough of her and not because she invites it.But the one person that I admire the most my grandmother. She was a great woman and one that held on in times of turmoil, she taught me to be strong and if I have to cry go ahead. But to keep focused and when I was done feeling sorry for myself get to work on fixing the problem and not dwelling on it. She taught me that no one said life was fair so quit acting like some one said it was and then took it away. Be a woman, and being a woman is expecting respect as well as demanding it.Funny thing, she always said a man's world is always easier than a womans. So if all you have to do is get through a mans world you are home free!!I love the works of Eva Hesse and Cindy Sherman, for different reasons, obviously. Eva Hesse's visceral fiber and sculptural installations fascinate me. And Cindy Sherman's cultural and psychological explorations into identity titillate me and engage my higher brain functioning at the same time. I love the paradox.I saw Wolfgang Laib's exhibit at the Smithsonian several years ago, and the serene beauty of his pollen, beeswax, and milk sculptures, and the science behind them, opened me up to a new kind of understanding of conceptual art -- that it can be beautiful and still have meaning, and reflect and be based in nature, all at the same time. It was extremely significant to me, to see that art can be all of these things. When I was younger, I was introduced to the work of San Diego artist Christopher Reilly. I still have his early work on my walls, and I am still in love with it and being inspired by it. Also, Santjes Oomen was an artist whose work -- while I never acquired any -- lingers in my mind, and I recognize how it has influenced me.And, finally, I have to say the work of Philip Seymour Hoffman has inspired me tremendously. He is more than an actor; he is an artist, and if you pay attention to the subtleties of his work, his delving into the psychology of the characters he plays -- it's really amazing. There is something about his work that moved me to get up off of the couch and start making stuff again. The park I want to describe is Yan’an Park. It’s very close to my home, just behind the Sheraton Hotel. One can either enter the park throug h the main gate on Yan’an Road, or from the east gate on Yili Road. The park is really beautiful. It’s got quite a few different areas and it is very peaceful. There are pathways all around the park and a lot of grass and trees. There are two ponds in the park – a small one where you can go fishing in the summer time, and a very large pond where you can go skating in the winter time. Near the large pond is a picnic area where you can sit down and relax. It’s nice and shady because there are many tall trees nearby. There’s also a play area for small children with games and rides, a restaurant and a snack bar, and an indoor swimming pool.I first found the park a few years ago after a friend told me about it. I went to see it myself, but it took me a long time to find it because the entrances were quite small. When I entered it, I was amazed at how large and pretty it was. To me, it seemed like a hidden oasis in the busy city.My first visit to Yan’an Park made me want to return again and again. I love going to this park because it makes me feel relaxed and happy. It’s such a nice feeling just to walk along the shady paths under big oak trees or just sit down by the bond watching the fished swimming. Also I like to watch the children playing in the children’s ar eas, because they are so cute and often remind me of my younger days. It’s a nice break from the busy city life, a get-away experience from the fast pace of life. What do you consider as good "Internet skills"? In my opinion every child should be trained to type since most of the communication online is done in writing. The Internet is an excellent resource to find an answer to almost any question. But in order to express your question properly you need to be able to type fast and correctly.Another basic skill is using a search engine. As of now Google is by far the best choice so being able to "google" is a vital skill nowadays. Proper googling requires a number of things. Depending on the nature of your question you might need to brainstorm appropriate keywords in order to find the answer. That's why you should use the Google toolbar which sometime makes suggestions as to the keywords you can enter. It also keeps track of the keywords you entered previously so you don't have to put them when you are repeating your query. If you want to know how popular a certain phrase is you have to put that very phrase into quotation marks. So, what skills do you think are important when it comes to using the Internet?Well, you just mentioned the most vital - fast typing. Being able to get somewhere as fast as possible is crucial, and typing speed is essential. The reason I second your opinion about speed is because I can confirm it - I won such a contest two or three years ago, and, I must say, it does give me quite an edge over most people. Certainly, there are other factors which also very important - such as, as you named it, brainstorming, also knowing the language flawlessly can bring better results. The ability to work with basic programs could significantly ease one's navigation, too. Knowing the Internet slang, which is not a small a part of this type of communication, could be very useful as well.My most important Internet skill was learned before personal computers were invented. When I was a kid, my parents thought typing was a necessary survival skill in modern society, so they made me take typing class in high school, where we learned to use typewriters. My friends who thought "secretaries do the typing everywhere" never learned to type, and their efficiency on the computer is hampered because of that. One important Internet skill is to have a real understanding that computers don't know anything and can't think. Understanding this makes it easier for a person to figure out how the computer is retrieving information, so you can use not only search engines, but other tools better. You'd be amazed at how many people think computers know things and can think.。

EarlyChildhoodEducationandCare[EB/OL].https://www.oecd-ilibrary.org/education/starting-strong_25216031.[2]㊀OECD.TheInternationalEarlyLearningandChildWell-beingStudy-theStudy[EB/OL].http://www.oecd.org/education/school/the-international-early-learning-and-child-well-being-study-the-study.htm.[3]㊀OECD.Callfortenders:InternationalEarlyLearningStudy.[EB/OL].http://www.oecd.org/callsfortenders/CfT%20100001420%20International%20Early%20Learning%20Study.pdf.[4]㊀MossP,DahlbergG,GrieshaberS,etal.TheOrganizationforEconomicCo-operationandDevelopment Each person carries a unique blend of traits that shape their personality and interactions with the world. In this essay, we'll delve into the art of character description through English prose, exploring various traits and their manifestations in people we encounter.Firstly, let's consider the trait of resilience. Resilience is the ability to bounce back from adversity, to weather life's storms with grace and determination. I have a friend named Sarah who exemplifies resilience in every aspect of her life. Despite facing numerous challenges, including health issues and personal setbacks, Sarah always manages to maintain a positive outlook and keep movingforward. Her resilience is evident not only in her abilityto overcome obstacles but also in her unwavering optimism and determination to succeed.Next, let's explore the trait of empathy. Describe a TV presenterWell, there are so many different TV programs on show everyday in diversified channels; hence there are thousands and thousands of TV presenters we can see. Some may leave us a very deep impression while others may not leave a thing in our mind. Here, I‟d like to talk about the TV presenter I love, Wuzongxian, although others may have a mixed feeling about him. Being a TV presenter in Taiwan, Wu started his career in the field of variety shows in the late 1980s, and then he became famous because of his unique style of hosting TV programs and therefore the TV programs he hosted are constantly ahead in the ratings. All these earn him the top salary among those TV presenters in Taiwan, being the local king for many rs. In 2008, he even won the Golden Bell Awards in television industry. His fast reaction and tactfulness in hosting is among the first class, second to few others, and gradually, he formed his own style of hosting TV programs. Because he likes to use those popular words on the internet, and his figure is not like other middle-aged men, he is quite popular among the young audience. However, he also likes to rip on people, open the low gun, speak nonsense, and disrespect women, which, meanwhile, bring him a lot of criticisms. Thanks to the change of the criteria of assessment, Wu was nominated three times for the best TV presenter in 2006,2007 and 2008, and successfully won the golden bell award in 2008 with the popular program “guess, guess, guess”” This is also the best affirmation to him. When I feel stressed, and in my spare time, I like to watch the program he hosts, I like to enjoy the relaxation and laugh out my pressures by seeing him on the screen. He is really a great TV presenter in my mind.Describe an artistWell, you know, when we are pursuing a more fashionable life, various kinds of arts are being created. However, compared to the achievements and levels of those artists in our history, it is hard to find out one who is more outstanding. Therefore, to describe an artist, I would like to talk about Qi baishi. One of the ten top artists in the 20th century in China, and also well-know through out the world. I became to know him when I was in the middle school, when my father, one day, came back home very excitedly, because he successfully got one painting of Qibaishi. However, a week later, my father was disappointed because the painting turned out to be a fake. Later, I am quite interested in gathering all possible information about this artist and his art works. Under his brush, each flower, bird, fish and even an insect is amazingly vivid, while the hills, the waters and the figures are all perfect, showing the wisdom and philosophy of life and thus moving the readers directly. In his 80s, he was especially famous for his talents in drawing shrimps. He was so hard working that in his life time, he had produced more than 30000 paintings and 3000 poems. He is a great artist because of his profound achievement in the filed of paintings, calligraphies, poems and seals, because of his combination of the folk art and traditional art, because of his integration of paintings from the life and paintings with freehand. I really admire him.Describe a new law Well, to provide a secured life for the public, every year the government of China is improving in its law system by updating those already existed ones or by issuing new ones. Here, I would like to talk about a new law that was just in practice in January 1st this year. It is about the regulations on advertisements on TVs and Radios. For a time in the past, there are great varieties of advertisements on TVs and radios, but due to lack of proper management and supervision, there exist a lot of misleading or unhealthy advertisements, which exert a negativeinfluence on the general public. And therefore, in January 1st, this new regulations were called into practice. In this new law, it does not allow any misleading advertisements, or advertisements that contain unhealthy information, such as violence, pornography, disgusting pictures, unhealthy life attitude. Also, it does not allow any advertisements aboutcigarettes, and those about liquors are limited to a larger extent. In addition, it also regulates about the timing, the periods about the advertisements. In this way, this new law tends to provide the public a much healthier living environment. And from its practice over the past months, the public, especially the children, do have a much better exposure of information from TV and radio programs. I do hope that more and more news laws that are intended to improve our life are issued in the future.Describe a modern building Well, everyday there are new buildings being constructed. No matter in what styles they are built, as long as they are using the modern techniques and modern materials, they are modern buildings. Here, I‟d like to talk about the Hangzhou grand theater, a very special modern building. Made of steel and galss, golden in color, it looks like a sun resting on the earth. Designed by internationally known Canadian architect, Hangzhou Grand Theatre covers 100,000 square meters with a total construction area of 55,000 square meters. It consists of an opera house, a concert hall, a multifunction hall, an open air stage and a culture square. The silky titanium roof symbolizes the pearl; the slant surface made of the double curved glass curtain wall represents the moon; a pool of over 6000 square meters in front of Hangzhou Grand Theatre stands for the beautiful West Lake. Located in the center of the building and looking like a U shape, the Opera House has altogether 1600 seats with red color as its basic tune. Designed as a classical shoe box, the concert hall has totally 600 seats with blue color as its basic tune. Breaking through the traditional mode, with 400 seats, lifts and chairs that can be turned up and down, the Multifunction Hall can achieve the flexibility of space arrangement according to specific requirements. With the performing stage surrounded by the seats, and the whole stage surrounded by a water-pool with a total accommodation of 1000 people, the Open Air Stage imitated ancient Roman classical style of architecture. Hangzhou grand theater is really a modern building, and a very special one.describe a wild animal Well, china is a country with a vast territory, and on this land there are thousands of different wild animals. I am from zhejiang province, so here I …d like to talk about a wild animal-the boars, which are not rarely seen in zhejiang province. I know a little about them because people in my hometown like to take them as food. the boars are like a pig, but live in the wild. gray in skin, the boars are usually covered with dark or dakish brown hair, and the ears are pointy but small, the mouths protruding but long, the legs long but slim. Also, boars have relatively smaller heads , darker feet, straighter backs, sharper teeth and shorter tails as compared to normal pigs. The boars often come out in groups to find food in the early morning or in the late afternnon, and hide inside the forests to stay away from the sunshine during the day Since the stomaches of the boars are very good cures to people‟s stomachaches, and the tough and tensile meat of the boars are liked more by pople that the meat from pigs with some fat, a large number of boars were hunted, hence the chinese government is now listing them as protected animals. Luchily, more and more boars are farm-raised, providing people the luck to have a taste. That is the wild animal that I would describe describe a place with a lot of noise Well, in this society, when people are hustling and bustling here and there, it is rather difficult to find a very quiet place to enjoy ourselves. And around the places such as anairport, a bus station, a construction site, the noise is sometimes even unbearable. Unluckily, my home is just beside one, the construction site for one metro exit in Hangzhou. You know, since the April last year, the city government launched this great project to build the metro system in Hangzhou. You know, it is a project that is allowed by the government to do even at night, so from then on, we have been suffering from the noise day and night. At the first stage, the original buildings on the site were pulled down and the ground was dug deep, which produced the shocking noise, even sometimes made us feel like a small earthquake outside. You know the knocking on the original concrete, the separating of the steel, the clearing of the land, the running of the construction trucks, wow, just too much noise. And later, the cutting of the iron and steel, the stirring of the concrete, the running of the machines, the moving of those construction material, all aggravate the noise around us. Life is not just a nightmare for us, since it is so hard to fall asleep every night. But it seems that all of us living around are now trying to bear this. We all hope that the project can finish soon, so that we could not only enjoy our quietness, have a good sleep, but also take advantage of the convenience brought by the metro system, not to say smile at the increase of the price of our real estates along with it.Describe an international famous person Well, you know, there are so many people in the world that are famous. Some are famous because they are successful in their fields, such as some artists, musicians, singers, scientists, businessman and so on.. However, other people are famous because of their luck or even because they have done something bad to this world. Here, I would like to talk about a famous person, Cameron, a director in the USA. Cameron is not a very productive director, but once his film is produced, it would be a masterpiece, such as the Titanic and Avatar. His films were so famous, that being an American; he is even known by millions and millions of Chinese. Cameron is famous because he has the talent. He is so creative, and brave, choosy and persistent. He is creative because his work will always surpass the others and leave very deep impression on us, he is brave because he dares to invest huge sum of money before the film is issued, he is choosy because he is particular about every detail in his work and in his production of movies, he is persistent because once he sets up a goal, he will stick to it without considering whether it will be successful or not. Because of this, his film, the Titanic, set a record by winning 8 prizes in Oscar, and this time, even when the film avatar is still on show, and I believe, he will win the next Oscar. I started to know Cameron from his films, but later I am interested in this person, and I tried to read anything that I can find about him on the Internet. He really inspired me a lot.He is famous. He is successful .He is my idol Beijing Beijing, the capital of the People‟s Republic of China, is the country‟s political, economic and cultural centre.Beijing is located in the northern part of the North China Plain, surrounded by mountains on the north, east and west. It covers an area of 16,800 square kilometers. Beijing blends the traditional outlook and the spectacular view of the modern metropolis. The architecture of the Imperial Palaces of the Ming and Qing dynasties has been well preserved. There are so many historic places such as the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Temple of Earth and the Summer Palace. Beijing will be thehost city of the 2008 Olympic Games, which will bring about more changes to the city. Describe a quiz TV show Well, it seems that many TV channels like to present some quiz shows to the public, such as “the lucky 52” in CCTV2, “happy dictionary” in CCTV 3, and “great competition ofintelligence” in CCTV 1. But here, I‟d like to talk about a quiz show from Shenzhen TV channel, which is named as “who is cleverer”. This quiz show brings the adults back to the primary school class, helps them recall those happy memories in the childhood, recollects those forgotten knowledge. It aims to attract audience of primary school students, as well as adults. In this quiz show, a group of primary school students and a team of adults are competing on the same stage, for those seemingly familiar and seemingly simple questions from primary school subjects. It is fun to see the embarrassment of those adult competitors unable to answer those easy questions, and it is also fun to see those primary students showing off their knowledge in front of their adult competitors. Altogether, there are 10 questions for each competitor, and those adults who can answer right all the 10 questions may have a chance to get the prize: 50 thousand YMB , but if he fail, he has to say to the audience, “ wow, I am not so clever as a primary school student” and then he is replaced by another adults. Wow, it‟s so funny tha t after so many years education, almost no adults could win the game and get the prize. And it‟s so interesting that this quiz show can bring so many parents and children in front of their TV sets to enjoy their get-together. I like the feeling of watching this kind of TV programs.童年Well, you know, in my childhood, I was really a naughty boy and I did a lot of naughty things, such as breaking the neighbor‟s windows because of my poor football skills, beating other people‟s pet dogs to see them bark arou nd the yard, disguising myself as ghosts to scare other children, and so on. Even now when I recall those naughty things, smiles may still arise on my face. But here, I would like to talk about a naughty thing I did to my grandfather, because in the end I was praised because of my bad behavior. When I was 9 years old, it was the first summer holiday that I had as a student, my parents sent me to the countryside to live with my grandpa, coz they were too busy to take care of me in the daytime. Not like many other grandpas who may spoil their grandchildren, my grandpa was quite demanding on me. You know, I was only 9 years old, but during that summer holiday, he often asked me to go to the farmland with him to do the farming, even in the hot sunshine. And so I tried my best to avoid doing the labor. One day, together with my grandpa, we planted corns in the filed. My grandpa was ahead, digging holes for me to cast the corn seeds inside. And he worked so hard that he dug the holes faster than I could sow the seeds. In order to work less and try to finish the work quickly, I sowed much more seeds than were needed for one hole, and soon we ran out of corn seeds. Although there were still a lot of holes vacant, we had to finish the job and went back home. Yeah, not enough seeds. And I felt happy because my grandpa didn‟t find out my trick. Several weeks later, the corn plants sprouted. In some places, there were only a few, but in others, there were a lot. And I was not aware that my trick would be discovered later when they grew out. Luckily, it happened that year we met a drought, and those sprouts did not grew well, even some of them died. My grandpa then divided some of the sprouts from those spare ones and planted them into those vacant holes. You know, my grand pa did not blame me for my trick, but praised about my “contribution”. He said: thank you boy, it is you that we could grow those corns so well in the field”. Well, my naughty behavior turned out to be a contribution. It was the only time that I got praise for my naughty behavior. Even now when I think about it, it‟s still a funny memory.Describe a work or project you did with others(描述一个你与他人合作的项目或工作) Well, to say something I did with somebody else, I would talk about the project I did with my classmate in the summer holiday when I just finished my third-year schooling in the college. It was really something to me. It was an interview about more than a thousand credit card holders inHangzhou, and the result was even now used by the professor in our university as a case for new students. I was one of the five-member team for that project. We discussed a day together about our questions to ask, and then made our first questionnaire of ten questions. But you know, we were quite nervous at first for fear of being rejected, and dare not to stop the strangers and then interview them. For a whole day in front of the department store, we only collected 3 papers. We were frustrated. That night, we gathered together in the dorm and encouraged each other, and we watched a video lecture called <wisdom to success> delivered by Anthony. From him, we had strength, and we learned that success is not based on cowardliness but on our courage to face difficulties. Then, the next day, we went there again and we successfully collected 92 papers. Wow, wewere inspired by our own courage. After that, things became easier to us. We went to the supermarkets, the book stores, the movie theatres, and even the train stations. At the end of the 20th day, we successfully finished our interview. In the following week, we analyzed all the papers and found that, twice more women than men liked to use credit cards, and almost 90% of the card holders were people under 35. And among the cardholders, 95% of them had more than one card. Later, our professor valued highly about our work, and he even took it as a case to encourage the new students. From this, I learned that with cooperation, with wisdom from other members, with the encouragements from each other, and with the joint efforts, nothing will be so difficult. {原创范例} The handicraft I am going to talk about is the paper-cut one. Before almost every Spring Festival, my mom would buy piles of paper cuttings to decorate the home. They would be pasted on the windows and the entrances to bring good luck. But this year, I decided to make the decoration all by myself.
