随着我国钢铁工业的迅速发展,铁矿石的开采量不断增加,选矿厂排出的尾矿越来越多。

据中国资源综合利用协会2009年发展报告,2009年我国尾矿总产生量达到了11.92亿t,占全国工业固体废弃物的45%以上,而综合利用率只13.3%,且目前已累积堆存100多亿t。

由于我国铁尾矿利用率低,大量的尾矿堆存在尾矿库中,这不仅是对矿产资源的最大浪费,而且排放和储存尾矿耗用大量的资金,占用大量的农田,造成环境污染,甚至导致尾矿坝体决裂等恶性事件,危及人民生命和财产安全[1]。

因此,铁尾矿的综合治理和开发利用是我们面临的重大课题。

在利用尾矿生产建筑材料方面,其产品主要是建筑用砂、尾矿及砌块类材料等,附加值低。

这几年出现的尾矿透水砖和尾矿加气混凝土等,在提高附加值方面有了较大的进步,但仍属于受运距限制的较低级附加值产品。
