Behind the scenes
Hello, everyone!Let me start by(ask)you a question:what’s the first thing you(注意)about a film? The acting? The music?Maybe the amazing sets?Whatever your answer is,there’s always a lot more to it than first meets the eye.Actually, the film you see on the screen is the(产物)of a huge amount of hard work, most of which(发生)behind the scenes.Today,I’ll give you(简短的介绍)to some aspects of film-making you might not be(熟悉).
(首先),I’d like to(让你们注意)to an important factor of a film—sound effects. These are often added after a scene has been(拍摄)and might not be made in the way you would(期待).For example,in Jurassic Park, the sounds of different animals, including a baby elephant and a tiger, were mixed by a computer to make a(恐龙的吼叫声).The sound of the doors opening in the Star Trek films was made(不过,仅仅)by pulling a sheet of paper out of an(信封).
Another aspect I(认为......重要,看重)to is visual(特效).CGI has been (frequent)used in(电影制作)as a special effects technology.Generally, scenes(require) CGI are filmed in front of a green screen in the(工作室).As green doesn’t(匹配)any natural hair or skin colour, actors can be easily(separate)from the background.This(使......成为可能)CGI effects to be added later. The Quidditch scenes in the Harry Potter films were made in this way with the actors jumping up and down in front of a green screen. However, the(辅助)of computers isn’t always preferred. Peter Jackson,(导演)of The Lord of the Rings films,(采用一种创造性的办法)—he used clever camera angles to make characters seem bigger or smaller than they really were.
Props also(促进,为......助力)a film’s success. To make a film look real, great effort must sometimes be(make)to research, find and build objects.Director James Cameron spent six months (look)at and(revise)plans of the Titanic(为了)build a full-sized model for his1997film.He talked to(历史学家)to(确保)that the details were correct and even went down to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean to see what was left of the ship for himself. It took500workers100days(build)the fine model,(更不用说)the thousands of props inside.
My lecture today may not be able to(给予公正的评价)all the work people have done behind the scenes.Just as the poor passengers on the real Titanic saw the(冰山一角),what we see on the cinema screen is just the tip of the huge iceberg of film-making.Hopefully,next time you go to the cinema, you’ll (替......着想)all those talented people behind the scenes. They have worked for months and even years so that you can have two hours of(enjoy)!。
