2023BWhen John Todd was a child, he loved to explore the woods around hishouse, observing how nature solved problems. A dirty stream, for example, often became clear after flowing through plants and along rocks where tiny creatures lived. When he got older, John started to wonder if this process could be used to cleanup the messes people were making.

After studying agriculture, medicine, and fisheries in college, John went back to observing nature and asking questions. Why can certain plants trap harmful bacteria (细菌)? Which kinds of fish can eat cancer-causing chemicals? With theright combination of animals and plants, he figured, maybe he could clean up waste the way nature did. He decided to build what he would later call an eco-machine.在大学里学习了农业、医学和渔业之后,约翰又开始观察大自然并提出问题。

2023名校版高考英语阅读理解精读含答案sm

2023名校版高考英语阅读理解精读含答案Every four or five years, vast quantities of warm water build up along the west coast of South America. This phenomenon, El Niño (厄尔尼诺), creates storms that cause devastating floods. The result is costly. In 2017, for instance, El Niño shut down northern Peru's sugar-cane business.Modern farmers view El Niño stoically (坚忍地). They use money saved in good years to rebuild in bad ones. But history suggests it need not be like that. In a paper published recently, Ari Caramanica, an archaeologist at University of the Pacific, in Lima, shows how it used to be done. And the answer seems to be, “better”.Dr Caramanica and her colleagues have been studying the Pampa de Mocan, a coastal desert plain in northern Peru. Pampa de Mocan is not ideal for farming. Its soil contains little organic matter and the annual rainfall in non-Niño years is usually less than two centimetres. Today's farmers therefore depend on canals to carry water from local rivers to their fields. It had been assumed that ancient farmers had a similar arrangement —and so they did. But Dr Caramanica also found eight canals that could carry water far beyond the range of modern farms. Since the climate was similar to the present day's when these canals were dug, and the river no higher, she supposed that they were intended to guide the floodwater arriving during Niño years. Around a quarter of the ancient agricultural infrastructure (基础设施) of this area seems to have been built only for managing Niño-generated floodwater.Evidence reveals that Pampa de Mocan produced lots of crops in some years. Dr Caramanica's team also discovered two cisterns (蓄水池) in the area. These, possibly, were used to store floodwater. These findings suggest that, rather than resisting El Niño, early farmers in Pampa de Mocan were ready to make use of it when it arrived. Precisely how they managed their fields in Niño years remains to be discovered. But modern farmers might do well to learn from them.1.What do we know about El Niño from the text?A.It can be used in farming.B.It is usually caused by floods.C.It has little influence on business.D.It is always resisted as a disaster.2.What made the farms in Pampa de Mocan productive?A.Rich soil.B.Agreeable climate.C.Abundant rainfall.D.Agricultural constructions.3.What's the author's attitude to the ancient ways of dealing with El Niño ?A.Approving.B.Indifferent.C.Critical.D.Negative.4.Which of the following can be the best title for the text?A.Surviving El NiñoB.Living with El NiñoC.Farming in Different TimesD.Learning from HistoryA study showed that the experiences children have in their first few years are important. These experiences affect the development of the brain. When children receive more attention, they often have higher IQs.Babies receive information when they see, hear and feel things, which makes connections between different parts of the brain. There are a hundred trillion(万亿) connections in the brain of a threeyearold child.Researcher Judit Gervain tested how good newborns are at distinguishing different sound patterns. Her researchers produced images of the brains of babies as they heard different sound patterns. For example, one order was mubaba. This is the pattern “ABB”.Another order was mubage. This is the pattern “ABC”.The images showed that the part of the brainresponsible for speech was more active during the “ABB”pattern. This shows that babies can tell the difference between different patterns. They also were sensitive to where it occurred in the order.Gervain is excited by these findings because the order of sounds is the building block of words and grammar.“Position is key to language,”she says.“If something is at the beginning or at the end,it makes a big difference:‘John caught the bear.’is very different from ‘The bear caught John.’”Researchers led by scientist Patricia Kuhl have found that language delivered by televisions, audio books, the Internet,or smartphones—no matter how educational—doesn’t appear to be enough for children’s brain development. They carried out a study of ninemonthold American babies. They expected the first group who’d watched videos in Chinese to show the same kind of learning as the second group who were brought face to face with the same sounds.Instead they found a huge difference. The babies in the second group were able to distinguish between similar Chinese sounds as well as native listeners. But the other babies—regardless of whether they had watched the video or listened to the audio—learned nothing.8.What makes connections in a baby’s brain?A.Having a higher IQ.B.Experiencing new information.C.The baby’s early age.D.The connection with other babies.9.What did Judit Gervain and her team find in the experiment? A.Babies can identify different sound patterns.B.Word order is relevant to meaning.C.Babies can well understand different words.D.A certain brain region processes language.10.What does the underlined sentence mean in Paragraph 3? A.Grammar is important in learning languages. B.Different orders have different meanings.C.Different languages have different grammar.D.Words have different sounds.11.What is the main conclusion from the study led by Patricia Kuhl?A.Babies shouldn’t watch a lot of television.B.Listening to different languages develops babies’brains.C.Foreign languages help babies’brains develop.D.Social communication improves babies’brain development.。

ATravel in EuropeInstead of Santorini, TinosSantorini has been struggling with overtourism for years, a victim of its own success, and the Greek government, sought to lure tourists back following an 8-year financial crisis. Now this idyllic destination has reached saturation point (饱和点).A more authentic Greece--the one that Santorini offered before the crowds--can be found in the Cycladic haven of Tinos. With its own enchanting sunsets and rugged charm, this under-the-radar gem is an alluring alternative.Instead of Amsterdam, Delft and The HagueIn 2017, Amsterdam was visited by 19 million people, two million more than those who live in the entire country. The city has a particular problem with tourists on a tight budget--many arriving via low-cost airlines from Britain, France, Germany and beyond, and staying at Airbnbs, in hostels or in their cars. The crowds there get so dense that on weekend summer nights rescue workers often can't get to people who fall sick or faint.Another two destinations can be easily combined: Delft, about 10 miles away, and The Hague, the seat of Dutch government. Both are ideal for visitors looking for great museums, canals, wild North Sea beaches--and no crowds.Instead of Barcelona, ValenciaFor a less frenetic close of cosmopolitan Mediterranean charm, head 350 kilometers down the coast to Valencia, Spain's third-largest city, with 800 ,000 residents and barely 2 million visitors per year. Founded as a retirement communityfor Roman soldiers, it has many of the same attributes as Barcelona--both were ancient walled cities--with a sprawling, maze-like (迷宫般的) center filled with Gothic,Romanesque, Renaissance and Baroque architecture. All styles were combined in Valencia Cathedral, built between the 13th and 18th centuries; architectural purists (纯粹主义者) should not miss the 15th-century Silk Exchange, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a stunning reminder of the city's mercantile importance.1.What can we learn about Santorini?A.It is still a popular place for tourists.B.It is an attractive choice.C.It will win tourists back.D.It suffered overtourism.2.In Amsterdam, the crowds are so dense that ______ .A.the streets are bustling with noise and excitementB.some people can't be treated in timeC.more visitors will be disturbedD.many people fall sick or faint3.What's the author's purpose of writing this passage?A.Recommend some better places to visit.B.Introduce some new places to visit.C.Criticize some crowded places.D.Blame the improper tourism.BThe 2020 Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to the former U. S. Poet Laureate (桂冠诗人) L ouise Glück. The prize committee cited "her unique poetic voice that with plain beauty makes individual existence universal". Glück has been the first American wom an to win the award since Toni Morrison in 1993. Glück joined a list of literary giants and previous Nobelists that included, in this century, Canadian short-story master Alice Munro, Chinese magical-realist Mo Yan, etc.Glück's works include 12 collec tions of poetry and a few volumes of essays on literary writing. "All are characterized by a striving for clarity (清晰). Childhood and family life, the close relationship with parents and siblings, is a theme that has remained central to her," Anders Olsson, the chairman of the NobelCommittee for Literature, said. "She seeks the universal, and in this she takes inspiration from myths and classical motifs," Olsson added, citing her 2006 collection Averno, which the committee described as "masterly" for its "visionary interpretation of the myth of Persephone's fall into hell in the captivity (囚禁) of Hades, the god of death".Being a professor at Yale and a resident of Cambridge, Glück also served as U. S. Poet Laureate from 2003 to 2004 and is no stranger to awards. She won the Pulitzer Prize in 1993 for her collection of poems titled The Wild Iris, in which "she describes the incredible return of life after winter in the poem Snowdrops." She also won the 2014 National Book Award for the poem Faithful and Virtuous Night. In 2016, former President Obama awarded the National Humanities Medal to Glück in a White House ceremony. The publicity-shy Glück did not immediately issue any comment about the latest honor for her body of work, which has spanned more than half a century. In a 2012 interview, she acknowledged that prizes can make "existence in the world easier" but did not amount to the immortality (不朽) of a true artist.4. What can we know about Glück from Paragraph 1?A. She is as popular as the Chinese novelist Mo Yan.B. She won the Nobel Prize for her special literary style.C. She is the first American to win a Nobel Prize in Literature.D. She is the only Poet Laureate in modem American history.5. What do Glück's poems mainly focus on?A. Daily life.B. Nature.C. Careers.D. Classical myths.6. What is the purpose of Paragraph 3?A. To show Glück's contributions to literature.B. To prove Glück's great passion for writing.C. To present Glück's outstanding achievements.D. To stress Glück's influence on other poets.7. What does Glück think about the latest honor she has received?A. She is content with it.B. She takes it very seriously.C. She deserves a higher honor.D. She doesn't attach great importance to it.CSchool pupils in England will be grouped into "bubbles" when the new academic year starts in September, with mass activities such as assemblies discouraged under new regulations announced by Education Secretary Gavin Williamson.Schools were shut down in March, 2020. Currently around 1.6 million of the country's 9 million school-age children are back in the classroom, but the government says a proper return in September is "critical to our national recovery" and attendance will be compulsory.Social distancing will not be applied in schools, and masks will not be worn, but instead so-called bubbles, based on avoiding contact between individual classes or year groups, will be deployed. This will mean separate start and finish times, and also different times for lunch and playtime.Pupils will be discouraged from using public transport, which could bring many other challenges. Mobile testing units will be sent to schools which have an outbreak, and schools will have testing kits to give parents if required, but if there are two confirmed cases in 14 days, potentially the whole school could be shut down.Geoff Barton, the general secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, says, "It will be immediately apparent to anyone reading this guidance that it is enormously challenging to carry out this proposal. The logistics of keeping apart many different 'bubbles' of children in a full school, including whole-year groups comprising hundreds of pupils, is incredible."Meanwhile, before the much-anticipated next stage of easing lockdown in England takes place this weekend, the number of COVID-19 cases has risen in 36 local authorities across England. Easing measures have already had to be delayed in the East Midlands city of Leicester, but now other spikes (激增) in infection rate are being reported all across England. The areas with the largest increases are Knowsley and Bolton, both in the North West of the country, and the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. In Knowsley, close to the city of Liverpool, the rate ofinfection rose from 6 people out of every 100,000 to 20.8.What does Gavin group the students into "bubbles" for?A.Setting different time for school activities.B.Asking all students to wear masks in class.C.Keeping social distance among all students.D.Calling on students to take a bus for school.9.A school will possibly be closed again in England when _______.A.two cases of infection are confirmed in 14 daysB.there is a lack of testing units for pupilsC.the attendance of students isn't enoughD.the rate of infection rises from 6 people out of every 100,000 to 2010.What's the attitude of Barton toward Gavin's measure?A.Tolerant.B.Doubtful.C.Hopeful.D.Ambiguous.11.What can we infer from the last paragraph?A.England has already ended the lockdown.B.More reports are about the spread of COVID-19.C.The number of COVID-19 infections is increasing in England.D.COVID-19 is more serious in England than in other countries.DRising Seas Will Erase (消除) More Cities by 2050, New Research ShowsRising seas could affect three times more people by 2050 than previously thought, according to new research, threatening to all but erase some of the world's great coastal cities. The authors of a paper published on Tuesday developed a more accurate way of calculating land elevation (海拔) based on satellite readings, and found that the previous numbers were far too optimistic. The new research shows that some 150 million people are now living on the land that will be below the high-tide line by mid-century. In Thailand, more than 10 percent of citizens now live on the land that is likely to be covered with water by 2050, compared with just 1 percent according to the earlier technique. The political and commercial capital, Bangkok, isparticularly dangerous. In other places, the migration caused by rising seas could cause or worsen regional conflicts. Basra, the second largest city in Iraq, could be mostly underwater by 2050. If that happens, the effects could be felt well beyond Iraq's borders, according to John Castellaw, a retired Marine Corps general."Further loss of land owing to rising waters there threatens to drive further social and political instability in the region, which could lead to armed conflicts again and increase the likelihood of terrorism," said Castellaw, who is now on the advisory board of the Center for Climate and Security, a research and advocacy group in Washington. "So this is far more than an environmental problem," he said. "It'sa humanitarian, security and possibly military problem too."12. How many people will be threatened by 2050 according to the research?A. About 15 million.B. About 50 million.C. About 150 million.D. About 450 million.13. What can we learn from the text?A. The migration caused rising seas.B. Basra could be entirely underwater by 2050.C. Rising seas could erase all the world's great coastal cities.D. Further loss of land owing to rising waters could cause armed conflicts.14. What is the purpose of the text?A. To advise people to move house.B. To tell new research.C. To warn the danger of conflicts.D. To appeal for environmental protection.15. Where is this text most likely from?A. A science magazine.B. A geography textbook.C. Science fiction.D. A medical journal.第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。

【原文·外刊阅读】A practical guide to New Zealand's 'Great Walks'(文章来源:National Geographic美国国家地理)For travelers with serious hiking ambitions, there’s no better country than New Zealand. ‘Tramping’, as the locals call it, is easy and accessible in this land of fern-fringed rivers, glacial valleys and volcano calderas. But the crowning glory is its ‘Great Walks’ — a collection of 11 multi-day hiking trails that capture the best of New Zealand’s spectacular landscapes. Though easy enough to complete, tackling any one of them requires planning — so, from how to budget or book huts to what to pack, here’s all you need to know.Do I need a permit to do a Great Walk? No. However, to limit the impact of people on the natural environment, the Department of Conservation (DOC) requires hikers to book huts and campsites in advance. Most trails have two or more huts and you’ll need to bookall of them together. Amenities can vary but huts tend to feature bunk beds in shared rooms, cooking facilities, heating, lighting, mattresses, toilets and non-potable water. How far in advance do I need to book accommodation along the Great Walks? The DOC takes bookings in June for the following season (October to April). Because of their popularity, huts and campsites can sell out within minutes, especially on the Milford Track and Abel Tasman Coast Track. If youmiss out, you can still book with one of the local tour operators, which are allocated hut and campsite beds in advance or run their own lodges along the trail. What should I pack for a multi-day hike? You’ll need a good-quality hiking pack and hiking shoes. Some trails traverse estuaries and rivers or stop at watering holes, making hiking sandals (and insect repellent) useful. Thermals and a rain jacket are a must. Guided tour operators generally include packed lunches, hot meals, snacks and drinks for guests, but if you’re travelling independently you’ll need to pack cooking equipment and food. You’ll also need bags to take your rubbish out in.Are the Great Walks suitable for beginners? They’re all graded ‘intermediate’, although some are more difficult than others due to terrain. However, they’re well-constructed, well-maintained and have clear signage, making them suitable for new and seasoned hikers. If you’re not confident, consider joining a specialist tour that will transport most of your luggage so you can hike more lightly. Apps such as Plan My Walk feature useful packing lists, track alerts and weather forecasts. How much should I budget for a Great Walk? This depends on the number of nights on the trail and how you choose to travel. For example, staying in a DOC hut on the five-day Abel Tasman Coast Track costs NZ$56 (£26.88) a night or NZ$24 (£11.50) a night for a campsite pitch. Transport to and from the trailhead (either by water taxi or bus shuttle) is around NZ$50 (£24) each way. By comparison, a guided walk with operator Wilsons Abel Tasman starts from NZ$2,750 (£1,320) and includes your guide, snacks, meals, transport, accommodation, linen and luggage bags.【原创·阅读理解】( ) 1. Yin and Yang in nature.Because the autumn equinox solar term has really entered the autumn,as the same time of day and night solar term, people in health should also be in line with the law of Yin and Yang balance,so that the body to maintain the"Yin Pingyang secret".Therefore, autumn should pay special attention to the maintenance of Yin qi,Yin and Yang can not appear biased. All aspects of daily life, diet, spirit, sports and so on can not leave the"nourishing"this principle.1.Three aspects of autumn health preservation1.1 Mental recuperationFine in the spirit of recuperation,to cultivate optimistic mood, maintain calm, convergence, avoid the spirit of soukill, adapt to the autumn flat.Have peace of mind, peace of mind, happiness of mind, and never sorrow.Even when it's sad.Should also take the initiative to eliminate,in order to avoid the Qi,but also should converge to adapt to the autumn Rongping Qi.The start of autumn season is the day of high air, should begin to"lie early and get up early".Early to conform to the convergence of Yang qi,early to make lung qi stretch, and prevent convergence too much.Into autumn,is a good time to carry out a variety of sports exercise,as long as the weather is not very bad should go outdoors for physical exercise, such as playing ball, mountain climbing and so on.Each person can choose different exercise programs according to their specific situation.1.2 Diet and recuperationDiet and recuperation:"Plain question·On the dirty Qi Method"said:"the lungs of autumn......Lung convergence, urgent acid to receive it,call acid fill it,Xixie it."It can be seen that sour convergence lung qi,spicy divergence and diarrhea lung, autumn should not be scattered,so as far as possible to eat scallion, ginger and other spicy taste products, appropriateto eat more sour fruits and vegetables, diet should be Yin moistening lung is appropriate."Yin Shan Zheng"said:"autumn qi dryness, appropriate food hemp to moisten its dryness, cold drink forbidden.Autumn dryness fluid is easy to hurt, causing pharynx, nose, lips dry and dry cough, hoarseness, dry skin, dry stool and other dryness, should be more choose Gan Han moist products.1.3 Disease PreventionIn terms of disease prevention, after the start of autumn, sooner or later cool wind to,autumn wind autumn rain gradually more, the climate is changeable,if you do not pay attention to health care.Susceptible to a variety of diseases, affecting the health of the body after the hot summer consumption in autumn, the human digestive function is decreased, the intestinal resistance to disease is weakened,if careless, can occur diarrhea. Therefore, after autumn,we should pay special attention to diet hygiene, develop good health habits, must not be careless. In particular,we should pay attention to food conditioning, pay attention to the change of cold and hot climate, strengthen physical exercise, enhance physique. After the occurrence of diarrhea,it is necessary to seek medical treatment in time.If the diarrhea is severe, itmust be treated immediately. In the autumn, the golden season, but also prone to allergic disease.Although the incidence is not as high as in spring,it is not uncommon, such as hay fever, bronchial asthma and so on.This type of allergic disease occurs in the fall. The symptoms are the same as those in spring, which are caused by exposure to various allergic substances in the air.At this time, patients with allergic diseases mentioned above should be more careful and pay attention to their own protection.Avoid allergenic sources, avoid inhaling irritating gases and dust, and pay attention to climate change. When autumn is cool, the slightly warm and humid climate provides suitable conditions for mosquito breeding, thus becoming the season of high incidence of mosquito-borne infectious diseases. Therefore, after entering the autumn,we should pay attention to the purification of the surrounding environment,do a good job of indoor health, night ask in the room to make full use of mosquito killer mosquito; At the same time also want to protect the skin, prevent mosquito bites.Put on clothes later, freeze properly, and exercise to strengthen your ability to withstand the cold. When WAITING FOR THE WEATHER TO BE REALLY COLD,ADD CLOTHES APPROPRIATELYAGAIN,FEEL WARM ALREADY SO,DO NOT SUFFER FROM OUTSIDE FEELING COLD EASILY AGAIN TO CAUSE A SERIES OF DISEASES.The four"rejections"of autumn regimen.2.1 Reject autumn fatigueSome people feel sleepy and tired in autumn. This phenomenon is called autumn fatigue.Autumn fatigue is a protective response to compensate for excessive consumption in summer.Although after a period of adjustment and adaptation, autumn fatigue will be eliminated naturally, but in order not to affect work and life,it is best to take corresponding prevention and control measures.First of all, take proper physical exercise, such as walking, climbing and so on.The intensity should not be too large at the beginning, and the amount of exercise should be gradually increased. If excessive exercise,it will increase the fatigue of the body, which is not conducive to physical recovery.Secondly, try to get enough sleep.Third,to adjust the diet, should be light, avoid greasy;Eat more vitamin-rich foods, such as carrots, lotus root, pears, honey, sesame, agaric and so on.2.2 Refuse autumn drynessAutumn climate is dry, often feel dry mouth, nose and throatand dry cough, and because of lung and large intestine surface, autumn will also appear dry stool. In addition, autumn dryness can also lead to dry lips, skin and hair loss.To prevent autumn dryness, first of all,we should pay attention to water, and drink more boiled water every day.Autumn diet should be Yin moistening lung, prevent dryness and protect Yin as the basic principle, can eat pears, apples, grapes, bananas, radish and green leafy vegetables to help production and prevent dryness, eat less hot pepper, onion, ginger, garlic and other spicy dryness.Middle-aged and elderly people in autumn bath should not be too often,1-2 times a week is appropriate, each time not more than half an hour, the water temperature is about 25℃.Should not use alkaline soap bath, should choose pungent small soap,etc.2.3 Resist autumn fatArrived autumn, the weather turns cool, the diet can imperceptibly excessive, causes the calorIC intake TO increase greatly.Plus the pleasant climate, let a person sleep enough, less sweat. In addition, the body actively stores fat to protect against the cold in preparation for the coming cold winter,so the body absorbs more calories than it loses. In autumn,if people don't pay attention, they will gainweight, which is a threat to those who are already obese.First of all, attention should be paid to the regulation of diet, eat more low-calorie food, such as adzuki beans, radish, job's tears, kelp, mushrooms and so on.Secondly,we should pay attention to increase the consumption of calories in autumn and increase activities in a planned way.Autumn is CRISP,IT IS THE great SEASON THAT GOES OUT TO TRAVEL,TRAVEL ALREADY CAN TOUR MOUNTAINS AND WATERS,MAKE THE MOOD COMFORTABLE,CAN INCREASE ACTIVITY AMOUNT AGAIN,ACHIEVE THE GOAL OF REDUCING WEIGHT.2.4 Refuse to fall sadAutumn is the peak period of depression. Before and after Frost's descent, everything is depressed, and it is easier to produce the feeling of desolation and desolation. Why is autumn so sad?According to traditional Chinese medicine, the five zang and six Fu organs, seven emotions and six desires of the human body are related to the theory of Five Elements and the changes of the seasons.Take the"gold"of"gold, wood, water, fire and earth"in the Five Elements theory as an example, the"lung"of the five zang organs belongs to gold, the"sorrow"of the seven emotions drinks gold, and the"autumn"of the four seasons also belongs to gold. Therefore,in autumn, especially in the days ofcontinuous autumn rain, people in addition to easy"autumn dryness",sometimes also easy to produce sad mood.Traditional Chinese medicine is good at adjusting emotions. If Chinese medicine is used to brew tea for symptoms,it will get twice the result with half the effort. The following two formulas are simple and effective ways to deal with emotional problems.Ground bone skin+mulberry white skinAnger is easy to lead to air belt, air stagnation is easy to lead to hormone secretion disorder, and make the skin long, make your face haggard, eyes puffy, wrinkles.Studies have shown that when women are in low spirits, the treatment of any Chinese pattern is not satisfactory. At this time, you can choose the bone skin, mulberry white skin 3 grams each, soak water instead of tea to drink, has the role of opening lung qi,liver qi,but also the role of whitening skin.Sichuan Neem seeds+corydalis in vinegarPeople are easy to hurt the stomach gas when angry,so that people do not think to eat,for a long time will cause gastrointestinal digestive disorder.Anger reduces blood flow in the stomach and intestines, slows down gastrointestinal peristalsis, deteriorates appetite, and causes gastric ulcerwhen it is serious. At this time, available Chuan MELach son, vinegar YANhusao 5 grams each, decoction generation tea drink, not only can regulate stomach qi,and has the effect of improving gastrointestinal blood circulation, can enhance gastrointestinal peristalsis, improve appetite.3 conclusionIn a word, autumn regimen is very important for everyone who loves life.Do the above three aspects and four rejections,I think,a healthy autumn should not be a problem.I hope everyone can be healthy and beautiful autumn.Talk about autumn health regimen article 2Traditional Chinese medicine pays attention to the laws and characteristics of Yin and Yang changes in the climate throughout the year, from the diet, living habits and other aspects of recuperation, fitness and disease prevention,so as to achieve the purpose of health and longevity, this article introduces a little knowledge about autumn diet health.Autumn is three months from the start of autumn to the start of winter.Autumn is characterized by the transition from heat to cold, and the elimination of Yang and Yin.So the autumn health care must follow the principle of"nourishing",which diet health care should be moistened dry Yiqi as the center, tostrengthen the spleen and liver Qinglung as the main content,to Qingrungan acid as the method, cold and cool deployment.Autumn day high air,dry air, temperature gradually reduced, humidity gradually reduced, the weather sometimes hot and sometimes cold, change rapidly. Therefore,we should drink more water at ordinary times to maintain the balance of water metabolism, prevent dry skin, evil fire invasion;Eat more vegetables and fruits to supplement vitamins and minerals in the body, neutralize excess acid metabolites in the body, and play the effect of clearing fire and detoxification;Eat beans and other high protein plant food, eat less greasy thick taste. The diet should be as little as possible to eat onion, ginger, garlic, leek, pepper and other spicyproducts, should not eat barbecue,in order to prevent aggravating symptoms of autumn dryness.Should carry out the principle of"less octines and more acid",lung main octines taste, liver main sour taste, octines taste can win acid,so autumn to reduce octines to flat lung Qi,acid to help liver Qi,in order to prevent lung Qi too win liver,so that liver qi stagnation. Can eat sesame, glutinous rice, honey, water chestnuts, grapes, radish, pear, persimmon, lotusseeds, lily, sugarcane, pineapple, banana, tremella, milk andother soft food, can also eat ginseng, sandginseng, ophiopogon,Sichuan shellfish, almonds, fatsea, cordyceps sinensis and other health care traditional Chinese medicine production of Qi Ziyin,Xuan lung and phlegm. In autumn, eat more warm food, eat less cold things,in order to protect the stomach Qi.Such as eating cold cold products or raw cold, unclean melons and fruits, will lead to warm, toxic stagnation in the body, causing diarrhea, dysentery, etc.,so there is"autumn melon bad belly"people's saying, the elderly, children and the infirm especially should pay attention to.As a result of from scorching summer into cool autumn, the human body often feels more comfortable,as a result of"boudoir summer"and the body wasting is gradually restored, appetite and spirit turn good, make autumn became an optimal nourishing season. In the process of replenishment,it is a kind of replenishment rule proposed according to the cool climate in autumn and the relative balance of Yin and Yang. The so-called flat tonic,is the choice of cold temperature is not obvious flat tonic, are flat tonic. In addition, although Yin and Yang are relatively balanced in autumn, dryness is the main qi in autumn, and the lung is easily injured by dryness.Attentionshould also be paid to nourishing Yin,nourishingjin, nourishing lung, and taking a combination of leveling and nourishing,so as to achieve the purpose of nourishing Yin and nourishing lung.Tonifying lung moistening dryness,we should use sesame, honey, fruit and other soft, moist food with more moisture. On the one hand,it can directly supplement the water of the human body to prevent the cracking of taste lip and other dry climate caused direct harm to people; On the other hand, through these foods or drugs to nourish the lung Yin,to prevent the body in the lung Yin deficiency on the basis of the impact of dry evil, produce disease.Drinking light salt water in the morning and honey water in the evening is not only a good way to replenish water and prevent constipation, but also an important content of health and anti-aging.Anyhow,autumn tonic wants sweet MOIST WARM raise,BOTH CANNOT overheat,CANNOT too cool again,WANT TO DO not HARM Yang does not consume Yin FOR degree.Food supplement materials are convenient, although there are four gases and five tastes, but after all the force is relatively weak,as long as the symptomatic selection of food, not only the effect is more obvious, generally will not appear what discomfort.Temperate eating is good, but intemperate eating is bad.In the autumn diet health care should pay attention to the timing of food and drink,it is to let gastrointestinal physiological function to maintain normal activities,so that its orderly digestion, not disorder or overwork.Food drink quantity,it is to avoid gastrointestinal overload activity,in case of injury gastric function, cause dyspepsia or gastric disease.Old people and children have weak digestive power,so they should eat regularly and quantitatively. In addition, each meal in autumn should be simple rather than complex, this is because the human body Yang Qiweak, stomach qi is also weak, eat a wide variety of food each meal, not easy to digest, easy to cause stomach disease.秋季,自然界的阳气由疏泄趋向收敛、闭藏,起居作息要相应调整。

Some conservation efforts have been taken—such as prohibiting logging operations on rivers leading into Lake Baikal—but risks from both air and water pollution remain high.
In the winter Baikal freezes over. this is the focal point for ice break up in the very southern end of the lake.
The Lake Baikal

McDonald's Burger Doesn't Decay After 10 Years

McDonald's Burger Doesn't Decay After 10 Years

McDonald's Burger Doesn't Decay After 10 YearsA McDonald's burger and fries bought in Iceland still hasn't decomposed after 10 years. The meal was bought just before McDonald's closed its three restaurants in the country.Hjortur Smarason heard that food from McDonald's doesn't decompose and wanted to find out if that was true. He bought his last burger and fries there on October 31, 2009, and they still have not decomposed. The meal is kept in a glass case in Snotra House, a hostel in Hella in southern Iceland. People can even watch the burger and fries online. The hostel owner, Siggi Sigurdur, told BBC News, "It still looks quite good actually.""It's a fun thing, of course, but it makes you think about what you are eating. There is no mold, it's only the paper wrapping that looks old."Smarason first kept the burger and fries in a plastic bag in his garage, but after three years, he gave them to the National Museum of Iceland. The museum later said it could not properly store food, and gave it back. After spending some time in a hostel in Reykjavík, they were moved to Snotra House. There may be a good reason as to why the burger and fries have not decomposed. McDonald's has said that when there is not enough moisture in the air, bacteria and mold cannot grow, so food does not decompose. Food scientist Bjorn Adalbjornsson from the University of Iceland confirmed this, adding that without moisture "food will simply dry out."。

毛额市鹌鹑阳光实验学校2014高考英语短文阅读类训练(5)及答案或解析Some spiders hunt on the ground, others build webs to trap their food, but the grass water spider catches its prey by running along the surface of the water. This special water spider lives on the grassy banks of streams where mosquitoes, damsel flies and other insects come to feed and breed.Although it is one of the largest spiders in New Zealand, it has an unusual ability. It doesn’t disturb the water as it waits for its meal, and there is barely a ripple(波纹) when it skims across the surface at lightning speed to catch its prey.Grass water spiders deal swiftly with larger insects like damsel flies by pulling their heads under the water and holding them there until they drown. After a meal, the grass water spider spends up to half an hour grooming(修饰) itself. It wipes its eight eyes, brushes its antennae, and takes special care toclean the hairs on its body.It is the hairs that trap tiny bubbles of air so that the spider can run down a blade of grass and stay underwater for up to an hour when it is frightened. The hairs also keep the spider dry, even underwater. It is only when the female spider is caring for the young that she does not hunt on the water. After mating, she produces a large eggsac(囊),which she carriesaround for five weeks. Once the eggs start tohatch, she attaches the sac to some blades of grass or a thistle. She then tears the sac open and releases the tiny spiders into the nursery web.(黄冈中学高三期末) 1. How does the grass water spider kill its prey? 英语六级巅峰阅读附详解 第72期-气候环境(1)

英语六级巅峰阅读附详解第72期:气候环境(1)A massive pool of warm ocean water is causing changes in the atmosphere that could produce unusual weather around ihc world in the next few months. the US National Weather Service reported on Monday. As a result of this phenomenon. known as El Nino, more rainfall than normal is likely this winter across some areas of the United States, with unusually warm or cold weather in other parts of the country.Currently the phenomenon is marked by a warm pool of water along the equator extending from the International Date Line nearly to the coast of South America. That water is nearly 4. degrees Fahrenheit above normal. explained Vernon Kousky of the climate center. This warm water "spreads almost a quarter of the way around the globe. So it's massive and it has an impact on our weather. It has a global influence... because it disturbs the atmosphere", said Dave Rodenhuis. director of the climate center."E1 Nino is probably the most important climate eventbeyond the annual cycle of seasons", he added.Because the changes tended to be first noticed around Christmas, the phenomenon was given che name El Nino, which is Spanish for child, a term often used to refer to the baby Jesus. The phenomenon occurs every three to five years, sometimes in a mild form and sometimes strongly affecting weather patterns worldwide. Details of its cause are not fully understood, but when it occurs. unusually warm air can be pumped into Canada. Alaska and the northern United States. At the same time, conditions tend to be wetter than normal along the US Southeast Coast and the Gulf of Mexico. And the Atlantic and Caribbean hurricane season tends to be milder than usual. The strong El Nino of 1982-1983 was blamed for worsening the devastating drought in Africa, causing a series or severe winter storms to come ashore in California, spawning the first typhoon to strike French Polynesia m 75 years-followed by five more in Five months-deluging Peru and Ecuador with torrential rains and promoting the worst drought in two centuries in Australia.Overall damage was estimated at between $2 billion and $8 billion by a United Nations analysis and the death toll topped l,500 worldwide.美国全国气象局在星期一发表报道称,[1]大量温暖的海水正在引起大气变化,这可能会导致全球天气在未来几个月内出现异常。
