Therefore, the interaction and deduction between the buildings, collections, and figures of the Palace Museum as well as other elements have made the 600-year history of the Palace Museum.
Six hundred years ago, a big event with political and cultural meanings happened in Beijing, China, and the world. On November 4th, 1420, of the lunar calendar (the 18th year of the Yongle Period in the Ming Dynasty), Zhu Di, Emperor Yongle, held a grand ceremony at Fengtian Hall (today’s Hall of Supreme Harmony) and the square in front of the hall in the Beijing imperial palace. He solemnly proclaimed to his officials and subjects of the state: The temples of the Beijing imperial palace have been completed. Pilgrimages and congratulations will be accepted, and a grand banquet will be held for ministers.

The second factor is the collection. Nowadays, the Palace Museum is home to more than 1.8 million pieces of cultural relics, including various wares, calligraphy, paintings, ancient records, archives, rare curios, porcelain, silk, jewelry, furniture, furnishings, etc. All these treasures are beautiful and precious.

After six hundred years of ups and downs, the Palace Museum retains its shining and incomparable magnificence in the world. This book contains 100 sections throughout six chapters and selects more than 200 pictures. It chronologically narrates the history of the Palace Museum over the past 600 years since the Ming and Qing dynasties. The ups and downs of the Palace Museum in the past 600 years are reproduced in four periods: the Ming Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty, the Republican period, and the period after the founding of New China.

It can be said that in the past six hundred years since the building of the Palace Museum, almost all the celebrities in China have connected directly or indirectly with Beijing and the Palace Museum.
The Palace Museum is home to a variety of brilliant cultural elements, with the following three core factors:
The first factor is the building. The Palace Museum covers an area of 720,000 square meters, with buildings taking up the most space. These Chinese classical buildings, such as palaces, halls, towers, pavilions, courtyards, and water gardens, are glorious and
envoys, and from various artisans to emperors and empresses. The figures also refer to the producers, users, appreciators, and collectors of the collections in the Palace Museum.

Yan Chongnian Yan Chongnian is a researcher at the Institute of Manchu Study, Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, president of Beijing Society of Manchuology Study, vice president of China Forbidden City Society, and honorary curator of Beijing Kongmiao and Imperial College Museum Academic Committee.

in 1987. Therefore, the Palace Museum belongs to China and the world. The Palace Museum has experienced glories, victories, changes, and sorrows. These are the historical testimonies and records of the evolution of the Chinese Nation.
