Birth order—does it matter? Are you different because you are the first, second, or third child in your family—or maybe the last of nine?
A study found that first-borns have an average(平均) IQ that is three points higher than people who fall into a different place in the birth order, perhaps because first-borns often help younger brothers and sisters, which improves their own skills. In 2007, an international organization of CEOs found that 43% of CEOs are first-borns, 33% are middle children, and 23% are last-borns. First-borns are more likely(可能的) to be doctors and astronauts and get higher pay.
If first-borns are more successful, last-borns are generally more agreeable. They are also more likely to be funny, possibly to get attention from all the bigger people at the dinner table. Mark Twain and Stephen Colbert were both youngest in large families, and Jim Carrey was the youngest of four. According to a 2007 Time magazine article, “The Power of Birth Order,” last-borns are more likely to be artists and successful businessmen.
Then there are the middle children; we have not ignored(忽视) them! Many middle children are short of one-on-one time with their parents. They often feel short-changed: the oldest gets more rights, and the youngest is “spoiled(宠坏的)”. Though they may be ignored, middle children more likely to grow into easygoing adults.
Many factors(因素) make us who we are, but if the research is correct, birth order may be one of the most important factors.

A.A first-born.
B.A second-born.
C.A third-born.
D.A last-born.
42.What can we learn about Jim Carrey?
A.He was likely to be given low pay.
B.He was likely to be agreeable.
C.He was a first-born.
D.He was a middle child.
43.What does the underlined word “short-changed” in Paragraph 4 probably mean in English?
A.unfair
B.controlled
C.spoiled
D.popular

A.has no influence on IQ
B.matters a lot at the dinner table
C.may decide who we are

Most teens need about more than 9 hours of sleep each night. But about 1 in 4 teens has trouble in sleeping. Lack of sleep can affect everything from our feelings to how well we focus on tasks like studying. It can also influence sports performance, increase our chances of getting sick, and may be related to weight gain in some people.
How can we get the sleep we need? Here are some ideas:
Be active during the day. Get at least 60 minutes of exercise a day. Physical activity can decrease stress and help people feel more relaxed. Just don’t work too close to bedtime because exercise can wake you up before it slows you down.
Say goodnight to electronics. Experts suggest using the bedroom for sleep only. At least shut everything down an hour or more before light’s out.
Keep a sleep routine. Going to bed at the same time every night helps the body expect sleep. Creating a set bedtime routine can improve this relaxation effect. Reading, listening to music, spending time with a pet, writing a diary or doing anything else can relax you.
Expect a go od night’s sleep. Instead of worrying that you won’t sleep, remind yourself that you can. Say “Tonight, I will sleep well.” several times during the day. It can also help to practise breathing exercises or gentle exercises before bed.
Everyone has a sleepl ess night once in a while. But if you regularly have trouble in sleeping and you think it’s affecting
your mood or performance, talk to your doctor.
根据上面短文的内容回答问题(每个小题答案不超过6个单词)。

66. How many hours of sleep do most teens need each night?

“I hate school, and I’m not going back!” Have you ever had that thought?Lots of kids have had. Usually this feeling doesn’t last long. But what happens if you feel this way too much?
School is a fact of life and getting an educ ation can help you build the kind of future life you want. So let’s talk about school and what to do when you don’t like it.
If you don’t like school, the first step is to find out why. You might not like school because you don’t have enough friends, or ma ybe you don’t get along with your teachers. Sometimes it’s a big problem with your classes and schoolwork. Maybe the work is too easy and you get bored, or maybe the work is too hard, or you don’t feel as smart as the other kids. You may be falling behind, and it may seem like you’ll never catch up.
When you know why you don’t like school, you can start taking steps to make things better. It’s a good idea to talk to your parents and teachers about your problems with school. If you have difficulties with your schoolwork, you need special help from your teachers. Try not to let the problems go on too long. It’s easier to catch up on one unit than the whole book! Anot her good idea is to write down your feelings about school in your diary. It’s a great way to l et out emotions(情绪), and you don’t have to share what you’ve written with others.
