介绍端午节的英文
Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a traditional Chinese holiday that is celebrated on the 5th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar, which usually falls in June. It is also called the Double Fifth Festival. The festival has a history of over 2,000 years and is celebrated to commemorate the death of the ancient poet and statesman Qu Yuan.
During the Dragon Boat Festival, various customs and activities take place. The most famous activity is the dragon boat races, where decorative long boats, shaped like dragons, are rowed by teams of paddlers to the sound of drums. These races are held in rivers, lakes, and even in the sea. The objective is not only to win the race but also to honor Qu Yuan and ward off evil spirits.
Another important custom of the festival is the eating of Zongzi, which are sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves. The fillings of Zongzi can be different, including meats, beans, and nuts. It is believed that eating Zongzi during the festival will bring good luck and protect against evil spirits.
In addition to the dragon boat races and Zongzi, there are other customs associated with the Dragon Boat Festival. Many people hang up pouches of herbs, called "xiangbao," on their doors to ward off evil spirits. Some also wear colorful silk threads or ropes, called "silk threads of love," to protect against evil.
Dragon Boat Festival is not only celebrated in China but also in many other Asian countries, such as Vietnam, Korea, and Japan. It
has become an important cultural event that showcases traditional customs and brings people together to celebrate.。
