Step 1. Greetings and Lead in.
1.Greetings. (T: Good morning, class.)
2. Show a picture of clock.
T: Look at the picture. What’s this? Ss: It’s a clock.
T: Yes, It’s a clock. It’s about time.
Today we are going to learn Module5 Unit1; I love history.
Step 2. Learn the expressions of time.
1. Learn the expressions of time
T: Now, look at the screen. What time is it? (Show them a picture of clock about the
time----7:00.) Ss: It’s seven o’clock.
T: It’s seven o’clock. Read after me. Seven o’clock (Show them the sentence “Seven
o’clock”.) Ss: Seven o’clock, seven o’clock
T: What time is it? Read after me Ss: What time is it? What time is it?
T: Look at the picture. What time is it? It’s ------half past four. Read after me, half past four ,
half past four.
Ss: Half past four, half past four.
(Use the same ways to learn the expressions as following:
six o’clock, half past two, ten past ten, five past two, ten past four,twenty past two
five to ten, ten to nine)
2.To summarize the expressions of time.
Ask Ss to summarize the expressions of time in groups, check it one by one.
T: Now, let’s read the words and expressions together.
Step 3: Play a game.
Play a game.
Show the numbers of time one by one, ask Ss to speak it out in English and stand up. Let’s see which groups say it fast and loudly.
Step 4: Learn some new words.
Look at the picture; ask Ss to learn it one by one.
T: Look at the picture, what is this? Ss: Chinese…
Step 5: Play another game
1.Play a game -----I say, you do.
T says some subjects in Chinese, Ss speak it in English fast.
Step 6: Make a timetable.
Show a form of timetable. Ask Ss to make a timetable of Monday in groups. And then, ask several Ss to show the timetable, and describe it in English.
Step 7: Summary
Let’s summarize what we have learnt today.
Step 8: Homework
1.To remember new words.
2.To make a timetable of your ideal school day in groups.。
