Do you sleep well? Some people get off to sleep as soon as their head hits the pillow, but many others are not so lucky. In fact, the lack of quality sleep has become a public health issue around the world. According to me World Association of Sleep Medicine, 45 percent of the world's population suffer from sleep problems. One in eight people don't sleep well and are easily woken. 7.6 percent sleep less than 3 hours each night. Some even cannot fall asleep for several days in a row.
As a basic bodily and mental need, sleep is essential for our survival, it helps us to fight diseases, strengthen our memory, perform better in work and school and improve our quality of life. Lack of sleep is known to have a significant negative influence on health, both in the short and long term. Poor sleep has been associated with obesity, diabetes, weakened immune systems and even some cancers, as well as depression and anxiety.
The World Sleep Day, held on the third Friday of March, is an annual celebration of sleep to lighten the burden of sleep problems through better prevention and management of sleep disorders.
To achieve this goal, we must figure out what causes sleepiness and sleeplessness. Unhealthy lifestyle may be the first to blame. More and more people use cellphones and computers in bed, with many staying up until midnight. Modern technology does make our life convenient, but abuse of it ruins our health. Environmental conditions, such as temperature, noise, light, bed comfort also play an important Pole in one's ability to get proper sleep. Besides, improper evening diet, like a full or an empty stomach, coffee and alcohol all contribute to sleep problems. Researchers designing the 'classroom of the future' have found that multi-touch, multi-user desks can improve skills in mathematics.
New results from a 3-year project working with over 400 pupils, mostly 8-10 year olds, show that cooperation learning increases both fluency (流畅) and flexibility in maths. It also shows that using an interactive 'smart' desk can have Benefits over doing mathematics on paper.
Using multi-touch desks in the new classroom, the children were able to work together in new ways to solve problems using inventive solutions.Seeing what your
friends are doing, and being able to fully participate in group activities, offers
new ways of working in class, the researchers say.The 'Star Trek classroom' could
also help learning and teaching in other subjects.
Lead researcher, Professor Liz Burd, said: "Our aim was to encourage far higher
levels Of active student engagement, where knowledge is obtained by sharing,
problem-solving and creating, rather than by passive listening. This classroom enables
both active engagement and equal access."
"We found our tables encouraged students to cooperate more effectively. We were
delighted to observe groups of students improving their understanding of mathematical concepts.Such cooperation just did not happen when students used paper-based approaches."
The teacher plays a key role in the classroom and can send tasks to different
tables to individuals and groups. The teacher can also send one group's answers on
to the next group to work on and add to, or to the board for a class discussion.A
live feedback (反馈) of the desks goes directly to the teacher who can come quickly
to help an individual while allowing the group work to continue.
Such a classroom may be some way off being a regular feature of schools across the.World due to the costs in setting it up.However, in just 3 years the project
team have noted major improvements in the technology, and a reduction in costs.
71.What improves students' fluency and flexibility in the new classroom?
A.Passive listening.B.Doing maths on papers.
C.Cooperation learning.D.Learning other
subjects.
72.What can we learn about ‘Star Trek classroom’ from the text?
A.It is specially designed for pupils 8-10 years old.
B.It can be helpful in both learning and teaching.
C.It only brings benefits to the active students.
D.It actually limits children's inventive imagination.
73.The classroom with multi-touch desks can help students ____.
A.deal with the feedback B.explain maths concepts
C.solve problems inventively D.send tasks to other groups
74.We can infer from the last paragraph that the 'Star Trek classroom' ____.A.has been widely used in the world
B.is just a dream hard to be realized
C.will be improved for more schools to use
D.has cost too much time and money
75.The author's attitude to cooperation learning in 'Star Trek classroom' is ____.A.positive B.negative C.netural D.doubtful

第四部分书面表达(共两节,满分45分)
第一节阅读表达(共5小题;每小题3分,满分15分)
阅读下面短文并回答问题,然后将答案写到答题卡相应的位置上(请注意问题后面的词数
要求)。

[1 ] "The other day 1 was taking my daughter to school when a young woman suddenly walked straight off the pavement in front of my car, eyes glued to her phone as she was texting.I hit the brakes and slid to a stop, just in time not to run into her. What a near miss! Lady, I beg you to look where you're going!" A man complained to a journalist yesterday.
[2] In fact, of more than 1, 000 people crossing 20 different roads in Seattle, 10% were listening to music, 7% were texting and 6% were having conversations on phone, the journal Injury Prevention reports and it estimates there was a 5% rise in the numbers of pedestrian deaths and injuries from June 2012.
[3] The texters were four times more likely to ignore red lights or fail to look both ways before crossing. And it took almost two seconds longer to cross the road.Listening to music seems to shorten the time taken to cross the road, but when they were doing it they were less likely to look both ways before crossing.
[4] Kevin Clinton, from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, said, "Looking properly when you are walking is as important as when you are driving, so take care not to be dangerously distracted, whether by mobile phones, listening to music or being caught up in conversations with other people.Road users need to be tuned in to what's happening around them and shouldn't do the wrong thing at the wrong time.We have always told motorists to look out for pedestrians. Now we are increasingly telling pedestrians to ________.A change in attitudes, similar to efforts around drunk-driving, will be important to limit the risk of pedestrian misbehavior." Thank you!

5 words)
