关于二十四节气的短文报道英语作文The 24 Solar Terms: A Year's Journey Through Nature
Hi there! My name is Emily and I'm a 4th grader who loves learning about the world around me, especially nature. Today, I want to tell you all about something really cool called the 24 Solar Terms. Don't worry, it's not as complicated as it sounds!
The 24 Solar Terms is an ancient Chinese calendar system that tracks the changes in seasons and nature throughout the year. It divides the year into 24 periods or "terms" based on the sun's position in the zodiac. Each term is about 15 days long and marks an important stage in the natural cycle, like when plants start growing or when animals migrate.
The terms have been used in China for over 2,000 years to help farmers know the best times for planting, harvesting, and other agricultural activities. But you don't have to be a farmer to appreciate the wisdom in these seasonal markers. The 24 Solar Terms connect us to the rhythms of the natural world in a special way.
I'll walk you through each of the 24 terms and what they represent. Get ready for a journey through the changing seasons!
The year begins with Spring Commences (around February 4th). This term celebrates the first stirrings of spring as the sun's warmth awakens the earth and tiny buds appear on trees. What an exciting time!
Next comes the Rain Water term (around February 19th). As the name suggests, this period brings life-giving rains to nourish the new growth. I love watching the puddles form after a spring shower.
The Vernal Equinox (around March 5th) marks the official start of spring when day and night are equal lengths. Seeds are sown and animals come out of hibernation - busy, busy!
As spring deepens, we have Clear and Bright (around March 20th) when the weather really starts warming up and trees regain their lush green leaves. This is one of my favorite times to play outside.
The fifth term is Grain Rain (around April 5th), which reminds farmers to prepare for the first crop of grain as thunderstorms roll in. I find the sound of rain so soothing.
Summer kicks off with Summer Commences (around May
6th). The heat is on and kids are out of school - the perfect combo for fun in the sun!
After that is Grain Fills (around May 21st) when the early crops like wheat and barley ripen and are ready for harvest. Doesn't fresh bread from that grain sound delicious?
The summer hits its peak during the Vernal Equinox (around June 6th) as the longest day of sunlight in the northern hemisphere arrives. Hello, lazy summer days!
With Great Heat (around July 7th), we enter the hottest stretch of summer. Time to find some shade, sip lemonade, and stay cool!
Next is Moderate Heat (around July 23rd). Although still quite warm, this term signals the gradual decline of summer's scorching temperatures. Phew!
As autumn approaches, we have Autumnal Commences (around August 8th) when summer's vibrant green landscapes start taking on hints of red and gold. The colors are breathtaking.
After that is the White Dew term (around August 23rd) which gets its name from the morning dew that forms as nights become cooler and day/night temperature swings increase. So refreshing!
The Autumnal Equinox (around September 8th) marks the return of equal day and night as the seasons officially transition from summer to fall. This equilibrium always amazes me.
With High Autumn (around September 23rd), fall foliage reaches its brilliant peak as leaves turn fiery shades of red, orange, and yellow. Nature's grand finale!
The bounty of the harvest is recognized during the Grain Fills term (around October 8th) when crops like rice, soybeans, and pumpkins are gathered. An abundant time indeed.
Winter begins with Winter Commences (around October
23rd) bringing the first frost and freezing temperatures. Now it's time to bundle up!
The next term is Light Snow (around November 7th) as winter's icy chill sets in and occasional snow flurries appear. So pretty and fun to play in!
Heavy Snow (around November 22nd) tends to bring the biggest snowstorms of the season - the kind that shut down schools! Every kid's dream.
As winter tightens its grip, the Severe Cold term (around December 7th) brings bone-chilling, teeth-chattering freezes. Better stay inside with some hot cocoa!
Moderate Cold (around December 22nd) provides a bit of a reprieve from winter's worst, though the air is still quite crisp. Good for building snowmen and sledding!
With the new year comes the Winter Solstice (around January 6th), the shortest day and longest night. This celestial event has been celebrated for ages.
The cycle continues with Moderate Cold (around January
20th), a chance to catch your breath before the final frigid stage.
Finally, we close out the 24 terms with Severe Cold (around February 4th). Brrr! The deep freeze of late winter is very harsh...but also a sign that spring's warmth will soon return.
And just like that, the cycle begins anew as we head back into Spring Commences. This amazing calendar follows nature's rhythms endlessly repeating.
The 24 Solar Terms have guided people for centuries by marking the subtlechanges in weather, plant growth, and animal behavior throughout the year. By observing these periods closely, we can feel more in tune with the natural cycles that govern life on our planet.
I find the 24 terms fascinating because they show how everything in nature is interconnected. The transition from one
term to the next creates a continuous, flowing sequence - kind of like a dance through the seasons.
Learning the 24 Solar Terms has made me appreciate just how incredible and complex the natural world is. Nature's calendar is timed so perfectly! It makes me want to get outside and experience each special term as it arrives.
I hope after hearing about the 24 Solar Terms, you can look at nature's seasonal changes in a new way. Why not head outdoors and observe what term we're in right now? I guarantee you'll gain a deeper connection to this amazing cycle we're all part of.。
