Teaching Content: Fun with English 6B, the first period of Unit 2 Look, read and learn Play a game
Teaching Aims
1. Enable the students to master the sentence structure: Ben runs faster than
Jim.
2. Enable the students to master the words: more, low, slow, far.
3. Enable the students to improve their abilities of using the comparative degree
of the adverbs correctly.
4. Train the students’consciousness of cooperation with various activities in order
that they can obtain success and self-confidence.
Teaching Importance and Difficulties
1.Enable the students to improve their abilities of using the structure: Ben runs
faster than Jim.
2. Enable the students to improve their abilities of using the comparative degree
of the adverbs correctly.

Step 1 Warm up
1. Exchange greetings
Step 2 Lead in
1.T: How old are you?
S1: I’m 11.
S2: I’m 12.
T: So you are older than him/ her.
2 T: You are taller than xxx.
Who’s stronger than you?
Step 3 Presentation
1.Present the words: early/ earlier, late/ later
T: I get up early in the morning. What time do you usually get up?
S3:…
T: Oh, I get up earlier / later than you.
2. Practise “early/ earlier, late/ later”
T: Ask your partners: what time do you get up/ go to bed? and you can say
I get up earlier / later than xxx.
3. Present the title.
T: I get up early in the morning. So I can do some exercise in the morning.
I can go running/ jogging/ play basketball. Do you know what does
“exercise” mean?
If you want to get stronger, you should do more exercise.

4.Present the words: low/lower, high/higher, slow/slower, fast/faster, far/farther, well/better
The students of No.1 Primary School like doing some exercise. Look, they are having a school festival now. They are very happy. Let’s go and have a
look.( Show the wall picture)
a. Su Hai and Su Yang are flying kites. Su Yang flies low. But Su Hai flies
lower. ( Present the sentence “Su Hai flies kites lower than Su Yang.”)
b. Look at David and Ben. They are flying model planes. Ben flies model planes
high. But David flies model planes higher than him. ( Present the sentence
“David flies model planes higher than Ben”)
c. Now let’s look at Liu Tao, Nancy and Wang Bing. They are swimming. Liu Tao
swims fast. Nancy swims slow. Wang Bing swims slower than her. ( Present
the sentence “Wang Bing swims slower than Nancy”)
d. Wang Bing and Mike are running. Wang Bing runs fast. But Mike runs faster
than him. ( Present the sentence “Mike runs faster than Wang Bing”)
e. Liu Tao and Mike are jumping. Mike jumps far. But Liu Tao jumps farther than
Mike. ( Present the sentence “Liu Tao jumps farther than Mike”)
f. In this picture, Su Hai and Yang Ling are skatin
g. Su Hai skates well. But
Yang Ling skates better than her. ( Present the sentence “Yang Ling skates
better than Su Hai.”)
Step 4 Practice
1.The students read the words and sentence.
2.The teacher erases the sentences and let the students make sentences orally.
3.A game: Who has a good memory.
T: Now let’s play a game. Let’s see who has a good memory. Look at the pictures and you have two minutes to remember.
Now, don’t look at the picture. Tell me in Picture 1, who flies kites higher, the boy or the girl? …
Step 5 Exercise
1.Listen and tick.
a. Listen to a short passage, and tick in this form.
b. Check the answers.
2. Answer some questions according the following form.
