Certification Matrix
Information about system requirements for EPM System products is now available in a spreadsheet format in the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Certification Matrix, posted at /technology/products/bi/hyperion-supported-
platforms.html. System requirements are no longer part of the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise
Performance Management System Installation Start Here.
Supported Paths to this Release
Release 11.1.1.4 is a maintenance release for Release 11.1.1.0, 11.1.1.1, 11.1.1.2, or 11.1.1.3. If you are starting from an earlier release, you must first upgrade to an 11.1.1.x release. This may require upgrading to an interim release first, and then upgrading to 11.1.1.x. Once at 11.1.1.x, in EPM System Installer, select the “Apply Maintenance Release” option.
Release 11.1.1.4 also provides a complete installation if you are not already starting from Release
11.1.1.x.
If you are starting from EPM System Release 9.3.3, your recommended upgrade path is to Release
11.1.2.1+.
Security Synchronization between Essbase and Shared Services was removed in Essbase Release 9.3, starting with release 9.3.1.4.1. Essbase and Shared Services Release 11.1.1.3, however, still
synchronize security information. For this reason, if you are using Essbase Release 9.3.1.4.1, 9.3.1.5,
9.3.1.6, or 9.3.1.7, you cannot upgrade to release 11.1.1.3. Instead, your recommended upgrade path
is to first upgrade all products to Release 9.3.3, and then upgrade all products to release 11.1.2.1+. Supported Platforms
Applies to all supported platforms.
Supported Languages
This release supports non-English languages. The list of supported languages for all EPM System
products is included in the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System
Certification Matrix, posted at /technology/products/bi/hyperion-
supported-platforms.html
Top of Document Defects Fixed in this Release
If you are coming from Release 11.1.1.0, 11.1.1.1, or 11.1.1.2, use the Defects Fixed Finder tool to review the list of defects fixed between those releases and Release 11.1.1.3. This tool is available here:
https:///oip/faces/secure/km/DocumentDisplay.jspx?id=1292603.1 ∙11779889 - In an XMLA stateless session, you may get this error message: "...Concurrent
requests on the same session are not allowed. Wait till the previous request
completes processing or kill the request....”
∙11731667 – When Essbase terminates unexpectedly, applications using JAPI that are communicating with that Essbase instance may hang.
∙11683166 - If you create a script in Oracle® Essbase Integration Services to perform incremental updates and then run the script from the command line, you get a “Cannot perform cube view operation, null” error when you try to drill down in Smart View. This does not
happen if you run the script from Integration Services.
∙10424484 – Provider Services allows multiple concurrent requests to run in a single session.
Provider Services should only allow one request at a time within a given session.
∙10416763 – If Smart View connects to Provider Services configured for SSO, and you then insert an ad-hoc analysis from either Microsoft Word or Microsoft PowerPoint, the operation may fail with the following error message: "Cannot get olap user. Essbase error(1030008): NULL argument (2) passed to ESSAPI function EssGetUserEx"
∙10382608 – In Smart View, when working with cubes built by Essbase Studio, if a worksheet contained many hsgetvalue() function cells, retrievals may take an abnormally long time.
∙10379437 – Java API requests made subsequent to calling IEssOlapServer.killOwnRequest() will not work.
∙10214440 - When Smart View is connected to Provider Services and a cube view containing dimension alias tables is opened, performing a manual edit on the cube after performing an ad-hoc analysis may result in a Provider Error: 10000 error.
∙10170891 – When profile mode is enabled in Provider Services, and you launch a Planning application from within Smart View, the following error is returned: "Essbase Provider Error Unknown"
∙10154376 – Drill-Through reports on a large number of cells may take longer than expected Smart View.
∙10089217 – When using Smart View Query Designer, with an alias table containing double byte characters, all attribute dimensions are displayed in the POV dialog box.
∙10075444 – When an application using JAPI performs a query, different metadata is retrieved with dataless mode set to ON, than with dataless mode set to OFF.
∙10064714, 9745783 - In Smart View, using an alias attribute member in Smart Slice may result in an "Invalid Filter" error.
∙10035233 - An XMLA web service adds <null> elements to the XML that do not conform to the schema embedded in the same document.
∙10033672 - In the Smart View Query Designer, an error may be returned if you use the generations filter on a time dimension.
∙10035209 - Only 10,000 members are returned for the XMLA Discover command even though Discover has no upper limit for the number of returned members.
∙10033666 - Submitting data with HsSetValue fails if the alias table is set to long names.
∙10033639 – The JMAXL.jar file remains in the aps.war file even though MaxL no longer has Java API capability.
∙9969235 – If Suppress Missing is selected in the Options dialog box, row members disappear and the following message is returned: "Resulting grid does not contain at least one row, one column, and one POV. If you have any Suppress Rows options selected, please clear them."
∙9899592 - The essbase.properties configuration file under APS_HOME\bin supports the following properties to configure APS logging:
o system.log.file.max.backup.files
This is a new property for defining the maximum number of Provider Services Server log
files to be retained. The default value is 10.
o system.log.file.buffer.size
The system.log.file.buffer.size property specifies the maximum size of the log files in MB.
The default value is 0, indicating a buffer size of 10 MB.
o system.log.file.option
This is an option to append or recreate the Provider Services log file on restart. Valid
values: {0, 1}
0 – Recreates the log file every time Provider Services starts.
1 - Allows the log file to grow by appending to existing log (if any) during server restarts.
The default value is 1.
∙11775322 - In Spreadsheet Add-in, member selection by generation or level does not show any members. This occurs when some dimensions have a metadata filer and others do not.
∙9792963 - During a Smart View connection to Essbase Server where ESSLANG is set to Spanish_tin1@Spanish, member names containing CH or Ch are not recognized in an ad-hoc retrieval.
∙10170891 – When the profile option is set to true in Provider Services, and you launch a Planning application from within Smart View, the following error is returned: "Essbase
Provider Error Unknown"
∙9135356 - When the trace option is set to …false‟ in essbase.properties, connecting to a Planning cube from Smart View through Provider Services may fail. The following error message is returned: Server returned HTTP response code: 500 for URL:
http://host:port/HyperionPlanning/SmartView.
∙9859750 - Beginning with this patch, Provider Services no longer requires GetUserToken to be set in essbase.cfg to enable Smart View. This change is part of the Provider Services
integration with Siteminder/Oracle Access Manager configuration for Essbase. Provider
Services integrates with Common Security Services for this purpose.
∙10415299, 10379414 -Provider Services incorrectly allows concurrent requests to be processed from the same session, resulting in corrupted data being sent to Essbase.
∙12362516 - Provider Services now supports clustering/load balancing of Planning.
∙12362509 - With Essbase clustering through Provider Services, the Java APS call essolapserver.getolapserverversion() fails.
∙10360369 – JAPI calls made to IEssSequentialIterator.getNextString() preceded by IEssCube.report() may result in a concurrent request error in the Provider Services log.
∙9899585 – In JAPI, multiple set actives are sent to Essbase in one session. The correct behavior under most circumstances is for only one set active to be sent.
∙10183307 – To optimize Essbase server calls through JAPI clients, the IEssCube.getName() API function should not invoke an Essbase “EssGetDatabaseInfo()” request.
∙9287711 – In a Smart View connection to Provider Services, reconnecting to a saved sheet after an outline restructure and then attempting to perform a free-form retrieval causes
repeated error messages in the log.
Top of Document Known Issues
The following issues are the noteworthy known issues of this release.
∙6967727 - The QueryVaryingAttributes.java sample program points to a "basicVA" database that does not exist.
∙8207401 –During ad hoc analysis in Smart View, if you change POV values from base values and refresh, refresh works as expected. However, if you then enter free form mode and refresh,
all POVs are set back to base values. Workaround: Select or reselect the POV members after
all free form processing is done.
∙8209238, 8209205 - When Provider Services is running on a system with locales other than English, users may get an encoding-related error, for example, “Invalid byte 3 of 3-byte
UTF-8 sequence.” Workaround: Set the default encoding to UTF-8 as follows: Ensure that
Provider Services is started with the JVM property -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8.
∙8244313 – In Smart View, if Repeat Member Labels Suppression is enabled in Smart Slice preferences, incorrect data may be returned when you refresh after performing an Excel delete.
Workaround: Finalize the grid layout and then enable the Repeat Member Labels Suppression
option.
∙8252820 – If you launch Smart View from a Planning web form using the Open in Smart View menu option, you may get an error when you try to submit data.
