听力材料
(Text 1)
M:Hello! This is Bill Smith from the Greenhouse Club. May I speak to Mr. Jones?
W:I'm sorry, but my dad isn't at home right now. He won't be back until six o'clock. I can give you his office phone number.
(Text 2)
M:Have a nice weekend! I will go camping. Do you have anything exciting planned?
W:Not really. I was thinking of renting a boat at the Water Park with my classmates, but the national English competition is coming up, so I will probably have to prepare for it.
(Text 3)
M:Do you usually get up at 6 every morning?
W:Yes. It's not too hard because I go to bed around 10 every night. I want to be sure to get enough sleep every night.
M:That's good. I don't get nearly enough. I sleep only about six hours every night.
(Text 4)
W:Have you heard about Tim? He's in hospital again.
M:What happened? I've never heard he is suffering from any illnesses.
W:He was driving too fast again. I guess he didn't learn his lesson from last time.
M:I'm so sorry to hear that.
(Text 5)
W:Uh-oh. It looks like there's a problem.
M:Yeah, I'm afraid so. Last Friday this elevator was out of service all day long.
W:Do you think I should press the emergency button?
M:Let's just wait a minute or two first. It may start again by itself.
(Text 6)
W:Can I help you?
M:I need to find a specific magazine, and I am not sure where to look for. Where are the old magazines?
W:The magazines that are a bit older than one year are on the left of the first floor, and the magazines that are less than one year old are at the end of the right side. They're near the reading room. How old is your magazine?
M:It came out about two and a half years ago, so I guess I'd find it on the left side of the first floor then, right?
W:I'm afraid not. Magazines that are more than two years old are kept on the second floor.
M:Can you help me look for it?
W:OK.
(Text 7)
W:Hey, wake up, sleepy head.
M:I fell asleep. Are we there?
W:Yes, we finally make it to Disney World. We are in the parking lot. It might not be a bad
idea to have a quick lunch and start our journey.
M:I couldn't wait to go to Epcot.
W:Epcot should be put on the list of “To Dos” but I've heard that Epcot is really sweet at night.
M:It sounds reasonable. What about the indoor roller coaster? It's thrilling! I'm dying for it.
W:Oh, no. I'm afraid it would be really scary especially when it is totally in the dark.
M:Ugh. Then we might find a hotel and get checked in before lunch.
W:I can't agree more.
(Text 8)
W:I called you last week but your mother said you were sightseeing in Italy. Did you go to Rome?
M:No. I went to Rome last year and Milan the year before last, so this year I went to Ferrara. You may not have heard about it, as it isn't one of the most famous Italian cities.
W:Oh, I've heard about it before. It's known as the City of the Renaissance, right? I've never visited it before, though. How was your time there?
M:It was great. I visited the city centre. The cathedral and the castle are both there in the heart of the city, and both are amazing. I didn't go to the cathedral, because it was very crowded.
W:What else did you visit there?
M:After I left the castle, I went to visit the historic part of the city, which has a lot of buildings from the Renaissance. Then I visited several palaces and churches.
W:You seem to really like travelling.
M:Yes, I love it. I usually travel abroad twice a year, and this year I've taken one more trip than usual.
(Text 9)
M:I didn't even realize there was a festival coming up.
W:Why? You didn't know about Easter? There are many traditions connected to it.
M:I knew a little about it and didn't know it was in April. I thought it might be some day after Mother's Day.
W:Easter is observed on a Sunday in March or April. It is truly worth celebrating in the spring. We are all looking forward to the holiday. Mother will make a big Easter basket for each of us with presents like chocolate bars, candies and even a CD. We go to a church service on Friday morning. We dye our Easter eggs on Saturday morning and visit our grandparents that afternoon. But the best part for me is the Easter Egg Hunt. On Easter morning, parents hide Easter eggs in different places for us to find. It is almost as much fun as Halloween.
M:Green with envy. I will probably hang out with the other international students. I might also stay in the dorm. Remember, Linda assigned a huge book for us to read.
W:Pooh. That's boring. Why not come with me?
M:Well, I'm OK. I may just spend the holiday myself.
W:Come on. My parents will be happy to have you with us.
M:Serious? Cool!
(Text 10)
Hello, listeners! I'd like to share with you a bit about what it's like to live here at the South Pole. I'm a scientist and I arrived here in Antarctica three months ago, in December. The temperature at that time was cold but not unpleasant yet. Since arriving, I've worked with about 60 other people getting everything ready for the Antarctica winter. It's been a lot of hard work, but it has been fun, too.
However, a few days ago the ship left, taking most of the staff with it, and it won't be back to fetch us until next December. So the hardest thing to get used to now is that there are just 14 of us here. It's been difficult to adjust because I'm used to working in a large group.
I'm living at the same work station I was at ten years ago. It was new then, but it's still in good condition and generally unchanged. The dried food we get is also the same. The people working here with me are all different from the year ago, but I'm always happy getting to know new people. Ten years ago, we were able to send faxes to friends and family once a month, but today we can send e-mails and talk on the phone so we don't feel so far away.
Last week we went out exploring for a few days. It was dangerous. We went together everywhere in case we fell into any holes in the ice. Holes here are much too deep to climb out of. The skies last week were beautifully clear, and I was reminded how lucky I am to be here.
第二部份阅读理解(满分35分,限时30分钟)

I stayed at DeWitt Place with my wife on our visit to Chicago. We booked as it offered a very reasonable rate for a fashionable and accessible part of the city. We were not disappointed — the location is brilliant for visitors in a safe and quiet side street just around the corner from the Hancock.
—Sam Smith
I can't believe I had never heard about DeWitt Place until recently. I found it only because of
a Travelocity search of Chicago hotels to find a hotel in the city to stay at. This was my first time there, but I'll certainly return. The hotel is a few blocks away from North Michigan Avenue. It's in a quiet place.
— Susan Green Most members of the staff at DeWitt Place were not welcoming or helpful (only one of them
was). Room was falling apart. The sink was not securely fixed to the wall. The fridge was incredibly loud. I won't return to it again.
— Ted Brown This is the second time I've stayed at DeWitt Place, and again I am satisfied with my two-night stay. The location and price are unbeatable. This place is very close to Michigan Avenue, only two blocks away. Everything is almost within walking distance.
— Mary Smith We stayed at DeWitt Place for five nights and it was great. The apartment was very roomy and clean. The beds were very good and the full kitchen was awesome. Much to my satisfaction, it is within easy walking distance to public transport, landmarks, shopping, dining and entertainment. It is nice to be able to have a walk along the lake, which is only one block away from the hotel.
— Jennifer Green

Imagine having to take more than 40 pills every day and never eating ice cream or other delicious food. Welcome to my life!
In the spring of 2021, I was diagnosed with a condition called IBD (炎性肠病). And I was shocked to learn that it doesn't have a cure.
That autumn, things got even worse. My condition became so severe that I had to have three surgeries (手术) over the course of seven months to remove my colon (结肠). I was in a lot of pain afterward, but the surgeries helped prevent the disease from hurting me even more.
While I was in the hospital, I was so weak that I had to lie in bed a lot to rest and sleep. But I was able to entertain myself by pulling_pranks_on the nurses. I'd say to them, “Have you seen Fluffy?”and they'd ask, “Who's Fluffy?”I'd be like, “It's my pet dog, and he's on the loose!”
Animals weren't allowed in the hospital, so the serious look on their faces was priceless! After a few moments, I'd tell them I was only joking — and they'd smile.
I know that a lot of the details about IBD are very unpleasant, but I don't focus on that part. If you try, you can see the funny side of everything. When I first started feeling better, I wasn't in good enough physical condition to play sports, but I wanted to do something. So I gathered the courage to try stand-up comedy during a local open mic night.
I framed the way I lost my colon as if I were breaking up with it. I was like:“It's not you, it's me ... I just think we want different things right now. I want to live. No, no, there's no other colon.” I got huge laughs! And I've been performing standup regularly ever since.
A.It can be cured easily.
B.There is no known cure for it.
C.It takes a long time to be cured.
D.There are some effective cures for it.
解析:选B细节理解题。

由第二段末的“it doesn't have a cure”可知答案。

25.The underlined part “pulling pranks on” in Paragraph 4 can be replaced by “________”.A.catching up with
B.playing tricks on
C.getting on well with
D.making a good impression on
解析:选B词义猜想题。

由第四段末的“It's my pet dog, and he's on the loose!”及第
五段末的“I was only joking — and they'd smile.”可知,作者故意骗医院的护士们说自己的宠物狗不见了,以此来捉弄护士们。

故画线部份的意思是“捉弄,拿……开玩笑”。

26.Which of the following words can best describe the author?
A.Optimistic.B.Intelligent.
C.Open-minded. D.Warm-hearted.
解析:选A推理判断题。

由倒数第二段开头的“I know that a lot of the details about IBD are very unpleasant, but I don't focus on that part. If you try, you can see the funny side of everything.”及作者拿护士开玩笑可推出,作者是乐观的。

故选A项。

30.What caused Tong Yemeng to see Wolf WarriorⅡ?
A.Desiring to relax. B.External influence.

So, I print __58__(inspire) messages, happy pictures, etc, and post them on a blank space __59__ I've found in one of our rooms. I believe they add to our “emotional education”.One person asked me, “Why do you try to help these people? They are not very nice?”My answer __60__(be), “If it affects one person then it's a good thing.” It doesn't matter whether it has an impact __61__ anyone else. What matters is that I'm the __62__(good) person I can be.
I know those __63__(print) stories and articles are read because they keep getting moved about. So, __64__(eventual), like sandpaper against a rough surface, __65__ surface will become smooth and the messages will get through. How long it takes really doesn't matter.

61.on此处是固定搭配have an impact on ...“对……有影响”。

62.best按照空前的“the”可知,此处应用最高级,故填best。

63.printed分析句子结构可知,空处在此作前置定语修饰stories and articles,且print 与stories and articles之间为逻辑上的被动关系,故此处利用过去分词作定语。

64.eventually按照语境可知,此处应利用副词eventually作状语修饰整个句子。

65.the此处surface为特指,空处填the。

Li Hua 第二节:概要写作(满分25分)
阅读下面短文,按照其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

The world we live in is always changing. Technologies and ideas are quickly advancing to keep up with the changing lives of humans. Most people don't even notice the change but over time, the language is always changing with the world around to either help the understanding of certain situations or make things easier to say while still getting the point across.
Certain words are now being introduced to the English language. These words are seen as “teenage slang (俚语)” by many adults of the past generations because this new vocabulary is used mainly by younger people. In a new book, John McWhorter talks about new words such as lol, haha, slash, and btw that younger people tend to use when texting. Words such as “lol” and “haha”,he says, are used just to give sentences a certain mood. But people of older generations do not use these terms because they are just being developed and added to the English language.
In “Mother Tongue” by Amy Tan, she describes how she talks in certain ways to certain people. This is just a mechanism (机制) made by her brain for whatever makes things the easiest to communicate. Even when talking to her mom, she speaks in broken English because it's the easiest way to speak with her mom. This shows that humans will adapt to the language around them and use the easiest form of the language to communicate. So when new, easier styles are being introduced, humans will automatically start using these methods to speak with each other.
Language is always changing. With the fast-paced world, language takes the characteristics of the people using it. So as new generations start to take shape, they bring all sorts of new language to the public that change the language forever. So as the everyday life of the average human changes, so does the language that they use to communicate.
参考范文:
Keeping pace with the ever changing world, language is unnoticeably changing for easier understanding and expression. (要点1) Youngsters prefer to text with teenage slang to stress their feelings, which older generations avoid due to its fresh introduction. (要点2) As is shown by Amy Tan's example, humans' adaptation to language results from their need for the most convenient way of communication. (要点3) Therefore, language is taking on a new look with the new world and its latest users. (要点4)。
