• Wales officially became a member of Great Britain in 1536 • Because it is closer to England and the geography is not as rugged it has much more similarities to England than Scotland does and it’s legal and education systems are mostly the same. • The National Assembly for Wales was created by the Government of Wales Act 1998 and limited lawmaking powers were gained through the Government of Wales Act 2006. • This made it possible for it to legislate on certain issues without having to consult the UK parliament.
