AKWAs(狼保护区)are created to help minimize potential wolfcattle conflict, and cattle producers are encouraged to use preventive measures within AKWAs. The Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife(ODFW) recently built two new AKWAs for wolf packs in Oregon in 2015 accordingly.
In 2016 ODFW received a removal request from several affected cattle producers of a local raising association after two cattle killings were confirmed, asking that the entire Harl Butte pack be removed due to constant cattle killings.
ODFW then took a strict approach instead of removing the pack. But later ODFW’s careful efforts failed to limit Meacham Wolf Pack killings on private land. The Marl Butte wolf pack is larger than originally estimated. ODFW has found evidence of at least eight wolves remaining in this pack, besides three kids.
Two weeks passed since ODFW first announced plans to legally remove wolves from the Harl Butte wolf pack due to constant killings. ODFW removed two nonbreeding wolves, confirming four cattle killings by wolves in privatelyowned grassland. The wolfcattle conflicts continued.
More legally removing wolves occurred. “As wildlife managers, we are responsible for balancing the conservation of wolves so that damage to cattle is limited.” said Roblyn Brown, ODFW acting wolf coordinator(协调者).
ODFW has carried out a new online Coyote(郊狼)and Gray Wolf Quiz to help people differentiate between them. Still cattle killings continue by gray wolves.
In 2017 a gray wolf body was found and concluded that it died from gunshot wounds. ODFW is offering a $5,000 reward for information killing a federally protected gray wolf in AKWA. The Harl Butte pack is currently estimated at nine wolves. Any wolf in the pack may be taken under the strict control authorization.
24. What does ODFW do for gray wolves?

25. What’s author’s attitude toward the gray wolf protection?

27. What is the main reason why ODFW killed wolves?
A. Because wolves killed cattle in privatelyowned land.
B. Because wolves increased too much.
C. Because wolves are a threat to cattle.
D. Because wolves must be removed by cattle owners.

Firms such as Evolo, Lilium and Uber are reimagining the daily mute(通勤)—flying cars. Finally there is reason to believe.
Flying people in small capsules for short trips might bee a reality in the next decade. These are newly small vehicles, which can rise and land vertically, not fit to drive on land like quiet helicopters.
A prototype(原型)of a small electric plane that is capable of flying up to 300 kilometres per hour, made by Lilium, a German startup, pleted a successful test in April. Lilium is starting work on a fiveseat vehicle and hopes to offer a ridecalling service.
Another German pany, Evolo, has been testing a flying vehicle for years. It recently showed off the second version of its electric Volocopter, which could be certified for flight next year. There are at least a dozen firms experimenting with making new and small flying vehicles in different guises(外观), including Airbus, a space giant, in partnership with a branch of Volkswagen, a carmaker.
No matter which manufacturer is quickest to gain speed. Uber, a ridecalling firm, aims to be at the centre of things. On April 25th it announced its plan to offer a service where people can phone an electric “vertical takeoff and landing” vehicle and ride it quickly to destinations that would otherwise lake hours in heavy traffic. Uber plans to have a prototype of its service ready by 2020.The firm rather optimistically promises that the cost per mile for passengers will be roughly that of its lowcost car service, UberX.
There’re many barriers to overe beyond gravity like batterypo wered models. How to guide and license the new small aircraft and the pilot’s licence will be subjects of fierce debate among rulemakers.

C. Because batterypowered models are hard to meet the demand.
D. Because there are few pilots who are willing to fly.
30. From the passage, we can know .
A. the plane by Lilium can run on the road and in the air
B. only Uber will oiler an airridecalling service
C. uber will design a more advanced flying car recently
D. Volkswagen will take part in making a new flying car
31. What’s the purpose of writing the text?
A. To introduce the latest science and technology.
B. To help us know about the flying technology.
C. To offer the latest information of the new flying car.
D. To encourage rich customers to buy the latest flying car.

Back in 1992, a group of 1,700 scientists issued the “World Scientists’Warning to Humanity”. Humanity hasn’t been listening very well. This week, concerned scientists felt obliged to release a new warning 25 years after the original warning that “human be ings and the natural world are on a collision course”.
The original statement warned about ozone depletion(臭氧损耗), endangered water supplies, ocean habitat destruction, loss of soil productivity, destruction of forests and loss of species. The forwardthinking warning called for a move away from fossil fuels, a stop of deforestation and a stabilization of the human population. So what does the new warning say? Pretty much the same things.
The majority of living Nobel scientists signed the original warning, which was issued by the Union of Concerned Scientists, a group devoted to finding sciencebased solutions to environmental issues. The second notice is signed by over 15,000 scientists from across the globe.
The BioScience journal published the “World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity: A Second Notice” on Monday. It looks back at the original warning and eva luates our development since that time.
“Since 1992, with the exception of stabilizing the stratospheric(平流)ozone layer, humanity has failed to make sufficient progress in solving these foreseen environmental challenges, and alarmingly, most of them are getting far worse,” the notice says.
The new warning goes into detail on what scientists would like to see happen to change our course. It includes everything from increasing outdoor nature education for children to encouraging a movement toward mostly plantbased diets.
There are some famous signers’ names like Jane Goodall, James Hansen and five Nobel winners.
Will humanity listen this time? The warning ends on a needed note of optimism: “Working together... we can make great progress for the sake of humanit y and the planet on which we depend.”
32. What do we know about the original statement according to the passage?
A. It talked about six aspects of global problems.
B. It demanded that people should do six things.
C. It didn’t influence people’s action to s olve global problems.
D. 15,000 scientists signed the original statement.
33. In the new warning, we can know that .
A. more scientists signed the international warring issue
B. it mentions that animals on the earth reduces by 26%
C. about 300million acres of forests are wasted for building
D. population explosion is a disaster to our environment
34. What are the difference between the original issues and the new issue?
A. The old issue didn’t have any foreseeing ideas.
B. The new stresses changing life to environmentfriendliness.
C. Ozone depletion didn’t appear in the original issue.
D. Ocean habitat destruction was more serious than now.
35. What is the best title of the passage?
A. World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity
B. Warning to Humanity
C. Destruction of the earth
D. Scientists’ new Warning to Humanity

Questioning the existence of aliens(外星人)is something that scientists and average people have done for decades. 36.
The main necessities for life are water and some form of energy source. Not surprisingly, there are some planets, and its moons that fit the bill. Although we probably won’t find little green men with bug eyes, it doesn’t reduce our eagerness.
Titan is the largest moon of Saturn, the sixth planet from our Sun. 37. Titan does not exactly fit the description of being in a typical habitable zone.
38. It just doesn’t have liquid water. The water on this moon is pletely
solid because of the extremely cold temperature.
However, the liquid that fills the lakes and streams is not water but rather hydrocarbons. A hydrocarbon is a bination of hydrogen and carbon in varying proportions(比例). 39.
This is the key factor that would make potential life on Titan so different 40. Although there are still some technically unanswered questions (like if life can
live on something but water), the possibility that Titan has alien life is certainly there.
A. Water is important for lifeforms.
B. Titan has water, and it has liquid.
C. Whether aliens exist remains a puzzle.
D. In fact, most people do believe that aliens exist in some ways.
E. On the Earth, we often think of these as gases like methane(甲烷).
F. This moon could potentially harbor life but possibly not in the sense that we think.
G. Actually these lifeforms wouldn’t survive on liquid water but on these liquid hydrocarbons.

One possible version:
Dear Tom,
I’m glad to know that you’re interested in the culture of tea in China.
Chinese consider tea as one of their seven basic necessities. Firewood, rice,
oil, salt, soy sauce and vinegar are some of the other basic needs. Chinese tea dates
back to Zhou Dynasty, and became well wele in Tang Dynasty. Children serve tea to
their elders as a sign of respect. This custom is still practiced on formal occasions.
For example, the bride and the groom offer parents tea. In addition, it can show apology,
thanks etc.
I’m looking forward to meeting you in a tea house in China.
Yours,
Li Hua。
