My Ten Minute English Essay
Hello friends! Today I want to write a short English essay for you. Writing in English is fun, but it can be a little tricky sometimes. I will try my best to make this easy to understand.
First, let me tell you a little story. One day, my teacher said we had to write a ten minute essay for homework. I was nervous because I am not a super amazing writer yet. But my teacher said not to worry, and just to write about something simple that I enjoy doing.
So I thought and thought about what to write. I love playing soccer, but I have written about that before. I love eating pizza, but that is not a very exciting topic. Finally, I decided to write about my dog Rufus! Rufus is my best furry friend.
Rufus is a golden retriever. That means he is a big yellow dog with long fur. He has a very cute face with a black nose and big brown eyes. His tail never stops wagging because he is always
happy. Rufus loves three things - eating, sleeping, and playing fetch.
In the morning, Rufus will wake me up by licking my face with his tongue. It is wet and slobbery, but I don't mind because I love him. Then I take Rufus downstairs and give him his breakfast. He gets so excited and wolfs it down in two seconds! His favorite food is chicken and rice.
After Rufus eats, he likes to go outside and run around the backyard. I will throw a tennis ball, and he chases after it as fast as he can. Sometimes he catches it in his mouth, and sometimes he lets it bounce in front of him. When he brings the ball back, he drops it at my feet so I can throw it again. We can play fetch for hours!
In the afternoon, Rufus gets very sleepy. He will find a sunny spot on the floor and plop down for a nice long nap. He snores loudly and twitches his legs like he is dreaming about running. I have to be quiet when he is sleeping so I don't wake him up. A tired Rufus is a grumpy Rufus!
My favorite time is in the evening when my family watches a movie together. Rufus always comes and lays down right next to me. I pet his soft fur and he puts his head on my lap. He makes
me feel calm and happy. Sometimes I give Rufus a treat, and he gives me a big slobbery kiss in return!
Rufus is more than just a pet to me. He is a great friend and companion. He shows me endless love and affection. He cheers me up when I am sad. He makes me laugh with his funny doggy antics. I am so lucky that Rufus is a part of my family.
Well, that's my ten minute essay all about my dog Rufus! I try to keep things pretty simple, but I hope you enjoyed reading a little bit about my best friend. Writing this made me smile thinking about how much joy Rufus brings me every single day. Thanks for reading, friends!

Here's an English essay of 2000 words in a simple tone as if written by an elementary school student for a 10-minute in-class assignment.
My Awesome Day
Hi there! I'm going to tell you about my awesome day yesterday. It was Saturday, and I didn't have school, so I got to do lots of fun things.
In the morning, I woke up and had my favorite breakfast - pancakes with syrup and bananas! My mom made them for me because she's the best cook ever. After breakfast, I went outside to play. The sun was shining, and it was nice and warm out.
I met up with my friends Jack and Emma at the park. We played on the swings and the slide for a while. Then we decided to have a running race. I ran super fast, but Jack won. He's really good at running. After that, we played hide and seek. I'm the best hider in the whole world! Emma and Jack could never find me.
Around lunchtime, my tummy started grumbling because I was getting hungry. We went to my house and had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. My mom cut them into triangle shapes for us, which is my favorite way to eat sandwiches.
After lunch, we went back outside to play some more. We decided to have a jumping contest to see who could jump the highest and the farthest. Emma won for the highest jump, and I won for the longest jump! We were all really good at jumping.
A little later, my dad came home from work. He took us to get ice cream at the ice cream shop downtown. I got a huge chocolate sundae with lots of whipped cream, sprinkles, and a
cherry on top. It was so yummy! Jack got strawberry, and Emma got mint chocolate chip.
When we got back home, we were all tired from playing outside all day. Jack and Emma had to go home for dinner. Before they left, we made plans to have another fun day together next weekend. I'm so lucky to have such great friends!
After my friends left, I helped my mom make dinner. We made spaghetti and meatballs, which is one of my favorite meals. My dad, my mom, and I ate together at the dinner table and talked about our days. I told them all about playing at the park and getting ice cream. They were happy I had such a fun day.
Once dinner was over, I took a bath to get clean from playing outside. Getting dirty is one of the best parts of being a kid! Then I put on my pajamas and brushed my teeth. I read a chapter of my book before bed. It's about a brave knight who has to go on an adventure to fight a dragon. I can't wait to read what happens next!
Finally, I snuggled up in my warm bed. I gave my stuffed puppy dog a big hug as I thought about what an awesome day I had. Playing outside, eating treats, spending time with my parents and friends - it was the perfect Saturday. I feel so lucky! I
can't wait for more awesome days just like this one. But for now, it's time for sleep. Night night!

My Summer Vacation
This summer was the best summer ever! I had so much fun and did so many cool things. First of all, my family went on a big vacation to Disney World in Florida. We were there for a whole week!
We stayed at this huge hotel that had pools and waterslides and so much fun stuff. My favorite was the pirate ship pool where you could swim right up to the pool bar and get drinks and snacks. I got a Dole Whip every single day - that's my favorite treat. It's pineapple soft serve and it's so delicious, especially on a hot day.
The first park we went to was Magic Kingdom. That's the one with Cinderella's castle right when you walk in. We rode Space Mountain, which is a super fast roller coaster in the dark. My little brother was too scared to go on it, but I loved it! We also went on Splash Mountain, the big water ride. We all got completely soaked but it felt amazing in the heat.
The next day we did Hollywood Studios, which was really cool seeing all the movie props and learning how they make movies. I loved the Toy Story rides and shows. There's one part where you get shrunken down and it feels like you're the size of a toy! So rad.
The best day though was at Epcot. That's the park with sections for different countries around the world. We went to Mexico, Norway, Germany, China, and a bunch more. In Mexico we rode a crazy river raft ride through a temple and saw ancient ruins. So awesome! In Norway we went on a ride where you følge a troll into the forest. For dinner we ate in Morocco and had delicious chicken and lamb kebabs.
But my absolute favorite part was the fireworks show at night over the lagoon. The fireworks were perfectly synchronized to music and they lit up the whole park. There were lasers and lights and projections on the sphere in the middle too. It was breathtaking! We stayed for an hour just watching in awe.
On our way home, we stopped for a few days at the beach in Florida. We swam, built sandcastles, and even saw some dolphins swimming close to shore! We also went mini golfing one day which was really fun. I got a hole-in-one!
At home, I spent lots of time swimming in our pool and hanging out with friends too. We had sleepovers, went to the movies, and played outside until it got dark. A few times we had epic water balloon fights that left everyone drenched. So fun!
One weekend, my dad took me camping in the mountains. We hiked a few miles to this beautiful lake, set up our tent, fished, roasted marshmallows, and slept under the stars. Waking up to the sunrise over the mountain was magical. We even spotted a couple of deer grazing nearby. It was so peaceful being out in nature.
For my birthday, my parents surprised me with tickets to see my favorite band in concert! We had floor seats so we were super close to the stage. I've never heard music so loud before - it was crazy! The singer even climbed down into the crowd during one song. After the show, I got their latest album and t-shirt to remember the amazing night.
Basically, this was the funnest summer I've ever had. Between the Disney vacation, beach days, camping, concerts, and hanging with friends, it was non-stop excitement and adventures. I made so many incredible memories that I'll never forget. I wished summer could last forever, but I guess that just means I have to look forward to next year's!

My 10 Minute English Class Break
I am a 7th grade student. English class is one of my favorite classes, but it can be hard too. That's why I really like our 10 minute breaks in the middle of English class. Let me tell you all about it!
When the teacher says it's time for our break, everyone gets really excited. We put our books away and the teacher lets us get up and move around the classroom. Some kids walk around, but most of us just stay at our desks and talk to our friends sitting near us.
During the break, we can talk about anything we want in English. The teacher says it's good practice for us. A lot of kids talk about video games, movies, TV shows, sports, or other things like that. The boys especially like talking about sports, like basketball, soccer, and football.
My best friend Amy sits next to me, so we always talk during the breaks. Last week, she was telling me about her new puppy named Daisy. Daisy is so cute! She's a golden retriever. Amy showed me pictures and videos of Daisy playing and running
around. Puppies are a lot of work, but Amy said she's having fun taking care of Daisy.
Sometimes, we don't really talk that much during the breaks though. Instead, we'll listen to music, watch videos, or play games on our phones or tablets. The teacher lets us use our devices during breaks as long as we're using English. So sometimes my friends and I will watch short videos of people talking in English or playing English games.
There's this one game a bunch of us like where you have to unscramble words and sentences. It starts out easy, but gets harder and harder. We'll play it together and try to beat each other's high scores. Amy is really good at it. She always gets way higher scores than me!
Other times during the breaks, we'll work on homework for English class or do practice exercises. Like looking up vocabulary words, reading short stories, or answering comprehension questions. The teacher puts up different activities on the board that we can work on if we want during the break.
We'll split into small groups and quiz each other on stuff we're learning. It actually makes practicing and reviewing kind of fun when you do it with your friends during the break instead of
just on your own at home. And the teacher walks around to check on us and answer any questions we have.
My favorite part of the breaks though is show-and-tell. One or two students can sign up ahead of time to bring something from home to show and tell us all about it in English during the break. It can be anything - a toy, picture, book, collection, or anything else they want.
This one time, a kid named Jack brought in his huge Lego castle he had built. It was incredible! He told us all about the different rooms, the characters he made to go with it, and all the battles they had. He spent weeks putting it together.
Another time, a girl named Emily brought in her soccer trophy from last season to show everyone. She got to tell the whole class all about her big championship game and how she scored the winning goal. I could tell how proud and excited she was sharing that trophy with all of us.
No matter what kids bring in, it's always interesting hearing them talk about their hobbies and favorite things for a few minutes. The show-and-tell days are probably my favorite breaks because it's cool learning about what my classmates like.
After our 10 minute break is over, the teacher rings a little bell to let us know it's time to get back to our English lesson. We have to put everything away and get our books and notebooks out again. Those breaks go by so fast!
But I'm always happy we get those short breaks during our long English class. It gives us a nice little break to stretch, relax, and have fun using English in a different way for a few minutes. The breaks make it easier to pay attention and learn more during the rest of our English lesson. I look forward to English class breaks every week!

Here's a simple 2000-word essay in English written from the perspective of an elementary school student for a 10-minute
in-class writing assignment in grade 7:
My Awesome Summer Vacation
Summer vacation was so much fun! I got to do a lot of cool things and go to many neat places with my family and friends. We went on a big trip and had lots of adventures. I'm excited to tell you all about it!
First, we went to the beach for a week. We stayed in a big house right by the ocean. Every morning, I would wake up and
run outside to look at the waves crashing on the shore. The beach was beautiful with soft golden sand and clear blue water. I spent hours building awesome sandcastles, jumping through the waves, and hunting for seashells. My little brother and I had a contest to see who could find the most perfect shells – I won with 27 shells!
At night, we sat around a campfire on the beach and roasted marshmallows for s'mores. We told scary stories and watched for shooting stars in the dark sky. One evening, we saw a family of raccoons scavenging for food scraps near our house! My dad shooed them away, but it was still really cool to see them up close.
After the beach, we drove up to the mountains to stay in a cabin by a big lake for five days. There were so many fun outdoor activities to do! We went hiking through the woods on nature trails and learned about different plants and animals. I spotted a deer drinking from a stream which was amazing. We also rented a little boat and went fishing on the lake. I didn't catch anything, but my mom reeled in two huge bass! In the evenings, we played games, read books, and drank hot chocolate by the fireplace. It was so cozy and relaxing.
For the last part of our trip, we visited my aunt and uncle who live on a farm in the countryside. It was very different from my house in the city! They had cows, chickens, pigs, and even a couple horses in their barn. Every morning, my aunt would collect fresh eggs from the chicken coop for breakfast. One day, my cousin let me bottle feed one of the baby calves which was adorable. My favorite part was going for trail rides on the horses through the fields and woods near their farm. I wasn't scared at all because the horses were very gentle and well-trained.
We did so many awesome things this summer that it's hard to pick a favorite part. I'm sad that vacation is over, but I'm also excited to go back to school and see my friends again. I'll have a lot of great stories and pictures to share with them from my amazing summer adventures!。
