Six aspects of interface for interoperability

Knowledge
“Knowledge ” refers to correlated information which communicates better insight based on different types of data.
“Information ” refers to contextualised, categorised, calculated and condensed data with relevance and purpose.
“Service Method ” refers to the software methods (functions) for data exchange and sensor control.
“Data Format ” refers to the structures and formats of serialised data for exchange between components.“Messaging ” refers to the handshaking mechanisms between the two components.
“Communication ” is concerned about the underlying communication channels between two or more components.
Conceptually, a standard interface can be considered in six aspects as shown below.

Functional Model
An abstract framework for understanding the main functionality groups and their
interactions. The framework defines the common semantics of the main functionalities and is used to develop functional views. It mirrors the typical service interaction flow.
