词汇精讲1. because＆because ofbecause of和because是同义词，都可以表示原因，但是，because的后面用句子；becauseof的后面用名词、代词或者动名词短语形式。

例如：I was late this morning because I missed the first bus.我今天早上迟到是因为我没能赶上第一班公共汽车。

We couldn’t have the sports meeting last Sunday because of the rain.我们上个星期天没能召开运动会是因为下雨了。

2. favoritefavorite可以做形容词也可以做名词，作名词时意为“最喜欢的人（物）”。

在句子中常可以与“like…best”互换。

例如：What’s your favorite color? 你最喜欢什么颜色？Music is my favorite. 音乐是我的最爱。

3. hourhour 名词，意为“小时”，复数是hours。

注意：字母“h”在这里不发音，因此hour 前用不定冠词时，应该用冠词an。

例如：They work eight hours a day. 他们一天工作八个小时。

拓展：hour可以指“不确定的一段时间, 某一时刻”。

例如：Who can be calling on me at this late hour?谁会在这么晚的时间来拜访我呢?hour还可以指“固定时间, 上班时间”。

4. subjectsubject 可数名词，意为“学科”。

【语法提要】
1. 英语中的星期
（1）书写形式：星期名词为专有名词，首字母均要大写; 表示在星期几，前面一般不加冠词。

【学情分析】本单元是人教版新目标英语七年级上册第九单元，也是最后一个单元。

主要围绕“School subjects”这个话题展开讨论，并懂得询问和回答最喜欢的学科和喜欢的原因，以及星期的表达。

学生学过了八个单元的新目标英语，对整个课程的教学模式有了一定的了解，具备一定的听、说、读、写的基础。

对于特殊疑问句的句型和相关的形容词及日期的表达已经有所接触，为本单元的学科和星期的表达打下了基础。

通过本单元的进一步学习，使学生能够更加熟练地运用目标语言进行交际活动。

句中的It通常用来指代时间日期，询问星期通常用“What day is today？”。

英语中表示星期名称的单词，第一个字母应大写，且都以-day结尾。

按西方风俗，一周的第一天为星期天“Sunday”，而不是星期一“Monday”。

英语中表示月份名称的单词，第一个字母都应大写，且前面不加冠词。

在表达日期概念时通常先写月后写日，且日多用序数词来表达，即在基数词后面加上th。

但并不是所有的基数词变序数词都在后面加th，请记住下面的顺口溜：1，2，3特殊记，8去t，9减e，ve变f再加th，遇y变ie再加th。

(1)疑问词why用来提问原因，往往用表示原因的because从句回答。

如：—Why are you late for work？你今天为什么上班迟到了？例：—Because the traffic is too bad．因为交通太糟糕了。

with后要接宾格。

the next day,第二天，固定搭配。

注意next的用法。

4.That’s for sure.的确如此。

此句表示完全赞同他人的观点。

例如，A: Mr. Wang’s English class is very interesting. B: That’s for sure.5.When is your geography class? It’s on Monday and Friday.你的地理课在什么时候？在周一和周五。

geography,地理，学科的首字母一般不用大写(语言除外)，前面也不用加冠词。

上地理课，have geography.注意不要写成have geography class.可以用have a geography class或have geography classes这样的表达方式。
