My General Opinions on the Foreign Langue TeachingThe video gives me lots of inspire on foreign langue teaching. Now briefly, I’ll present my general opinions in the following two points。

1) The interest of student.＂If children have interest, then education happens＂judging from the personal experience ,I totally agree with this judgment. Interest gives the most passion and motivation to student even to ordinary people to explore nature, society and knowledge instead of pressure from scores of examinations.In the video, I find that the professor did a lot of surveys in the undeveloped areas where students haven’t seen computer before, not to mention the operation on it. In some areas, pupils even cannot speak English. But all of these obstacles didn’t stop them from gaining knowledge. What made it? Undoubtedly it is interest that makes the impossibility into possible.However, there also emerge problems: in our foreign language teaching, how to arise and keep the students’ interest? Some students know computer even better than you, so when providing with computers during the teaching procedures how can you draw their attention to focus on your teaching? On the other hand, the eyes of students in modern society have been extremely broadened, which has caused a series of problems in teaching. For instance, nowadays, groups of students have flown to attend tutoring institutions in the summer and winter holidays where they’ve learned most of the knowledge they are going to learn in the following semester. That is one of the reasons why they are losing interest during the normal school teaching. How to deal with these? So I think the further action should be taken to solve this unmoral phenomenon. Thus here comes my second opinion.2）The method of Task-based Language Teaching.In my opinion, the TBLT method is a production of the combination of Behaviorist theory and the Cognitive theory.Students can accept the information in the classroom as signals. Sometime they can figure out what does this signal mean, sometime they failed. But they are learning, it means they don’t know something at the moment doesn’t mean they will not know it forever. Combining the S-R theory and the S-R-R theory of Behaviorist theory to TBLT, various of tasks can be applied to the classroom teaching and it could help students to master the knowledge in a firm way which ensures them to think and understand it, rather than mechanical response. By completing tasks in the classroom, students could strengthen what they learn. But this requests teachers to consider what kind of task would be effective and how to design a good task. Teachers shouldn’t design a task for task. The quality of the task itself and the execution determine the effect of the class arrangement.Let’s revert to the interest of student. As we know, most students are learning without interest and enduring the boring lessons.What if we create a happier and more relaxing atmosphere in the classroom during the teaching, will it be better? I do think so. Then how it works? How to achieve effective class arrangement? I think the key point is student.a) The important role of student. The classroom is no more the stage of teachers only. Modern teaching methods are focusing more on the roles of students. As the consequence, the Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT) which advocates learner centered is more suitable for the classroom teaching (my own opinion) . On the condition that the tasks in class are effective, students could gain the same or more amount of knowledge in happier ways, instead of the boring teaching-learning pattern. They can study for pursuing the happiness during the learning which could contribute to their firm master of the knowledge. Thus, this could be a solution to the problems I’ve mentioned before.Quoting the saying again ＂If children have interest, then education happens＂. All we are engaged to do is to make sure whether the students could grasp the main knowledge. So it’s no use to follow the tradition concepts to emphasis the unique important role on the stage to teach. Therefore, I prefer the TBLT. In my own opinion, the happiest thing to students is to learn what they wantto learn, on the contrary, the biggest disaster is to be forced to learn what they don’t want to know at all.b) Learning in a happy mood could lead to an effective result. Also, working in groups could enable learners to learn in a happier and less pressure way which is good for learners to master the knowledge well. It’s not difficult to find in the video that there were no teachers, but the kids could teach each other, in another word, they were learning in groups. Learning in groups not only provides a relaxing atmosphere, but also gives students chances to explore things by themselves. They are working, exploring and gaining the knowledge with their partners. In such activities, students’ communicating abilities can be extensively strengthened. So the TBLT is a good way in classroom teaching.Well, although we are emphasizing how important the interest and the role of students are, we can’t ignore the role of teacher.c) The role of teacher. Leaner-centered pattern doesn’t mean teacher is useless.A good lesson should be good-designed by teacher and well accomplished by students. In the TBLT, teacher is more likely to play roles like：a controller, an organizer, a prompter, an assessor, a resource-provider, etc. To play these roles well, teachers should know what to do and do the things right. For example, when students make mistakes, teacher needn’t correct him or her immediately. Teacher could remind them, let them to correct the mistakes themselves.Students need time to understand and digest the knowledge they learn in class. And tasks are designed to help them to achieve these goals. So teachers should do their best to encourage students instead criticize. Some students may be a little slower in response to the knowledge, but working in groups, with the help of the partners and under the encouraging of the teacher; they can be more positive in class and find the interests in learning. Those are our main purposes. Teachers should teach students how to learn, rather than what to learn.We emphasize the role of student and believe that what students have learned depends on how much they’ve grasped, not on what teachers have taugh t. Students have the ability to gain the messages in the classroom and they also can do this in aninitiative way or working together to get the results they are working. Thus it also reflects that they have the cognitive ability. It tells us don’t only regard them as audience in the classroom, they are actors, too. Without whom, teachers can’t accomplish a perfect performance.These are all my opinions on the foreign language teaching after watching the videos. Maybe some of them are not correct or objective, but they are what in my mind; maybe decades later they would seem immature, but I’d enjoy them because when I remind it I will say: those are the things I wrote when I was a student but now I am no longer be one, these are what students believe. Judging from this way, they are valuable, right?。
