Introduction of Captain Singleton
A rich people's children, named Bob, was kidnapped when he was very young. In an uprising, he was abandoned on a desert island with twenty three people. In order to seek a life, they started sailing from shipbuilding, and they elected Bob as the captain, called Captain Singleton. Conquering the sea, desert, then they arrived in Africa. Defoe is a good story-teller. His stories are both credible and fascinating. His sentences are sometimes short and plain and sometimes long and rambling, which leave on the reader an impression of casual narration. His language is smooth, easy, colloquial and mostly vernacular.

Those different places that Captain Singleton experienced shared one similarity, that is, they were isolated from society and devoid of the juristic constraint. At the end of the novel, Captain Singleton felt guilt and scared because of his illegal fortune so that he began to pay attention to charity, just like many rich people in the modern world.
