2.Target Language：

(2)Don’t eat it until you get to the forest.

(1)Learn to find out the text type and enable students to understand and role-play the story.
(2)To improve students’ ability of reading and writing and help them learn to tell the story.

Learn how to grasp the main idea of each scene by reading and learn to role-play the story.

五、Teaching Procedures:
Step 1 Greeting and Revision
1. Call one student to tell the story of The Emperor’ New Clothes.
2.Present some pictures abou some fairy story: Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Little Riding Hood
Step 2 Presentation
1. Present the learning aims on the screen:
(1). To master the new words: wife, husband, whole, shine, bright, ground, lead, voice…
(2). To learn about Hansel and Gretel and try to act it out.
(3). To master the key points in the play.
2.Present the new words on the big screen and review the words together from 2a to 2e.
3. Ss read and try to remember the new words.

Step 3 Reading
1.Tell Ss the following is a fairy tale. Its name’s Hansel and Gretel.
2.Before Reading:
Ask Ss to read through the passage and decide what kind of text it is. Is it a letter, a play a short story or something else?
Ss may find out that it’s a play.
3.Careful Reading:
(1).T: Now let’s read the play carefully and try to match each description below with the correct scene in2c.
(2). Ss read the play carefully and try to match each description.
(3). Check the answers with the class.
4.Post reading: Work on 2d
(1). Now let’s work on 2d. First read the questions below. Then try to read the play again and find the answers to the questions.
(2). Ss read the play again and try to find the answers to the questions.
(3). Let some Ss read their answers and correct their mistakes.
(4). Ss check their answers with their partners.
Key s: 1. The weather was so dry that no food would grow. If they didn’t left the children to die in the forest the whole family would die.
2. He gets some stones.
3. Because they’ll be able to see the stones in the bright moon.
4. Because Hansel is dropping white stones along the way. When the moon is shining bright, they’ll be able to see the stones and find their way home.
5. Because they can’t see any bread on the ground. Maybe the birds ate them. Step 4 Role- playing
Ask the students to act out the play in groups of four. And then invite several groups to act ou the part of the story.
Step 5 Language points and Exercises
1. Ask the students to try to find the key points in the passage in groups and the share then with other students.
2. Finish the exercises on the screen. Fill in the blanks and give the reasons about them.
Step 6 Summary
This class, we have learned some new words and the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel. It tells us that we must be calm and don’t be panic w hen you meet any difficulties and try your best to get over them. Then ask the students to sum uo waht they have learnt in the period.
Step7 Homework
1.Tell your friends about the story Gretel and Hansel.
2.Review the key points in this play.
3.Finish the exercises on the exercise book.。
