9B Unit 4Welcome to the unit【背景知识】从古到今世界上在各行各业有着许多伟人。

比如尼尔·奥尔登·阿姆斯特朗(Neil Al den Armstrong)就是其中之一。

尼尔·奥尔登·阿姆斯特朗(1930~)第一个登上月球的美国航天员。

阿姆斯特朗(Neil Armstrong‎,1930年8月5日—)曾是一位美国国家航空航天局的宇航员、试飞员、海军飞行员,以在执行第一艘载人登月宇宙飞船阿波罗11号任务时成为第一名踏上月球的人类而闻名。

尼尔·阿姆斯特朗的第一次太空任务是1 966年执行的双子星8号的指令长。

在这次任务中,他和大卫·斯科特一道完成了第一次航天器的对接。

阿姆斯特朗的第二次,也是最后一次太空任务就是著名的1969年7月的阿波罗11号。

在这次“人类的一大步”中,阿姆斯特朗和巴兹·奥尔德林在月球表面进行了两个半小时的月表行走(迈克尔·科林斯在指令舱中环绕月球)。

阿姆斯特朗1930年8月5日出生在美国的俄亥俄州,是家中长子。

1947年入普渡大学(Purdue University)学习,1955年毕业获得航空工程学学士。

1970年在南加州大学获得航天工程硕士学位。

在成为宇航员之前, 阿姆斯特朗曾作为飞行员服役于美国海军,参加过朝鲜战争。

此后,他担任过NACA高速飞行器的测试飞行员,据Dryden Flight Research Center的记录,他曾在多种飞行器上执行超过900架次的飞行任务。

作为一名试飞员,阿姆斯特朗执行过F-100 Super SabreA型和C型,F-101 Voodoo和Lockh eed F-104A Starfighter的飞行测试项目。
